Fantastic from start to finish. We had a group of 5 which is sometimes a problem, but we only had to wait about 5-7 minutes to be seated. The interior is beautiful, and cozy. The staff honestly seemed to be having fun at work, which was great. I had a cider to start, and the Mac and Cheese benny. This was one of the most decadent and delicious breakfasts I have ever had. I couldn't even finish it because I was full after eating half. The egg was perfectly cooked, and the mac and cheese patty was creamy but crisp on the outside. The potatoes were a little sweet for my taste. That is my only complaint about the experience. Service was quick and the food didn't take too long to come out. They were packed, so obviously it was going to take a little while. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast in a friendly environment. In Windsor last weekend from out of town, I went to the Twisted Apron at a friend's request on Sunday for brunch and was delightfully surprised. Everyone I know talks about this place! There was a little bit of a wait around 11:15am, which is understandable for a place this popular. Though the hostess seemed a bit disorganized, my party of 4 was sat after about 20 minutes. I had the waffle sandwich which was good (and huge), my boyfriend had the pancakes which were among the best I'd ever tasted, my friends had they're regular breakfast flatbread and pulled pork waffle. Everyone enjoyed their food, but strangely we never received or were offered coffee top ups. Over all, good food in a quaint place in lovely Walkerville. Windsor needs more places like this one. read more

When we came here for breakfast the scenery was so different than when I had been once before for a late dinner. Both visits were good, but I love when a place does breakfast the way this place does. The pictures convinced me to skip a hotel breakfast, but the pictures didn't do justice for the fresh ingredients that made my chef special omelette so tasty. Great service too! read more

Went with 3 friends for dinner. Service was disappointing,,,,,,,waitress was new, and tried, but didn't know the menu at all. My friend specifically asked if a particular meal was served hot or cold......came the exact opposite from what she was told. I asked about a side that was served with a dinner meal. I didnt want the big entree, but would have purchased the side that came with it. Was told no. They couldn't do that. Really? Most restaurants are MORE then willing to accommodate in the hope that they have repeat customers . The place wasn't busy yet service was lacking..... We all agreed we would not go back. Their food is tasty and the service is excellent, but the wannabe swanky atmosphere and lack of value for money make this place fall short of its potential. When I say lack of value for money, I mean that the prices here are steep for the portion of food you receive. It was mighty flavourful food, but my stomach wanted more and the portion to price ratio was out of line. The positives here are the service and the interior of the restaurant. The washroom was also spotless. I really want to give this place a higher grade, but can't because I felt like I was being ripped off by the small portion in comparison to what I paid. If I go back for a third time and get better value for my money, I'll feel inclined to give 4 or 5 stars, but until then, I'll have to settle on 3. read more

Walkerville is such a lovely neighborhood, and as such, it demands a lovely little brunch place. The Twisted Apron fits the bill. There was a line almost flowing out of the door on a Saturday morning. The shirred eggs, whatever the hell shirred means, were very well shirred, and nicely garlicky. There's a great selection of teas. My only complaint as that it's a bit pricey for brunch, but so be it. Service is typically Canadian, which is to say, just lovely. read more

Had brunch here for the first time, haven't been to Windsor in awhile, but this place was great. The food me and my friends ordered was really good. The home fries were like little bake potatoes marinated with just the right amount of herbs. The jams tasted fresh and hand made. You can tell they really want to put on a fresh spin on old classics. Just went tonight. A tuesday night. Not too busy, yet it took forever to order. Waitress brought drinks, then came back to refill then third time back took order. Took forever to make order. Then no ketchup at table. It is a burger joint and no ketchup? Asked for ketchup and it came in a small saucer for one. Didn't bother asking for more. The burger was ok but not for $13. No sauce and really needed ketchup or something. Plus a side of fries was extra $. Really? What is this Spago's? At least the carrot cake was quite good. Then took forever to get the bill. It was a 2.5 hour meal, 3.5 if we had ordered an appetizer. First and last time. read more

This place is my go-to for breakfast or lunch! Always bustling with people on the weekend yet service never disappoints. It can be very loud when it's packed but still able to make good conversation. The menu always has soup, salad, Mac and cheese of the day. Always very unique flavours and very fresh! I recommend the eggs Benedict or Mac and cheese. Crispy chicken sandwich is delicious too. The salted caramel pudding is a must for dessert! It's so good and not too sweet which I love. I have only ever tried one thing on the menu and don't plan on ever braodening my horizons -- the classic eggs Benedict. It's amazing. Served all day. They use peameal bacon. I would highly recommend. The service can be slow, and it's a little pricey once you have a coffee or tea, but it's a solid breakfast option. read more

This place is a not so hidden gem in the little town of Windsor. The food is catered to comfort, so don't expect to come here and have a fillet mignon. They know customer service and can probably write a book on it. The carrot cake is to die for. OMG... I ate here for the first time today. It was AMAZEBALLS!! I had the Canadian Burger - delicious. But the best part of my meal was the Tomato Quinoa Leek soup. So, that's where we headed for lunch! Arriving between lunch and dinner meant that hardly anybody was in the restaurant, which was perfect. I had their truffled grilled cheese, which was a scrumptious concoction oozing white cheddar, brie, bacon, and french onion jam. I love this place! I have a great experience here every time I go. The menu changes seasonally but everything they come up with is always amazing. It is a bit more expensive but so worth it. Over the course of a weekend, visiting my friend in Windsor, I went to this restaurant twice. And while I think the food was 4-star for both of the visits, the service definitely fluctuated a star between my first and second visit. My first day in, I had just come from an early morning VIA rail ride in from Toronto and I was FAMISHED. We settled in really quick and I ordered a stuffed french toast with peameal, cheese and onions. Tasty, filling, and quick! The service was quick, they checked on us, chatted with us, refilled our coffee and brought us extra stuff (in my case, extra maple syrup) as needed for no extra charge. Upon asking for the bill, they even split it without a second thought and had me happy, full, and out the door. The second time we went, it was pouring rain on a Monday and our first and second choice place for lunch was closed. We headed back to The Twisted Apron intending for carry-out, but the carry-out options were a bit bland,(and the woman in the General Store next door basically told us to steer clear of one of the menu options! So strange...) so we decided just to settle in. Our server was apparently new, and it showed. She didn't know anything about the tea, or several other options on the menu, and instead of finding out, just stared at us until we made our minds up.I chose the pulled pork sandwich with tomato gazpacho and my friend ordered the hot soup and wanted them both at the same time, to dip her sandwich in her soup. "Sure thing" but unfortunately, got the dishes separately and tried to flag the server to ask for it to be held to no avail. When our food was served, we didn't get a check-up from the server until we were almost done, (hard to let us know if we're concerned about anything at that rate) and refills of water were only forthcoming after a second ask, pointing to our empty cups. While the food was still good, the service was markedly different and less friendly. I do enjoy the food, but I've read some other comments here and see that the service is spotty, so hopefully I just happened across a newbie on my second trip. I'll definitely return to try more of the menu though, so while it was a strange second experience, it wasn't thaaat bad. read more

if you ever find yourself in windsor. and your morning is turning into lunch. i suggest you pay the ladies at the twisted apron a visit. they will deliver. in this little hotspot. i had pancakes and side poached eggs with crispy bacon. coffee is solid. but i think next time i would check out their big old chalk board. i saw something egg thing with home made biscuit that, in hind sight probably might have been more interesting. although it seems every plate is made with love. weird to think 5km on the other side of the bridge a house is on fire and your breakfast might be a bottle of malt liquor and a scratch and win card. read more
