It's been many years since I've last visited the treasury and am so glad it is still around. The drinks are well crafted and the service is attentive and friendly. I ordered a Viking Highball ($16) and my go-to Sazerac - half cognac half rye. Both drinks were well balanced and delicious. I have to admit this is a testament to the quality of bartenders at Treasury. The bartender who took my order had to ask another of a reminder for the sazerac recipe, which told me she didn't make them so often. Despite that, this was honestly one of the better sazeracs I've had. Not the best but way better than many others I've had from bartenders in the same situation. Great job! I'm ready to make an investment at The Treasury! Located on the corner of Bush and Sansome Streets in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District, The Treasury represents a classic laid back vibe back when this area was dominated by business people and bankers who made deals over drinks and bites during lunch and after work drinks. With a setting that resembles that of bank or at least that of a lobby of a first floor of a huge skyscraper, of which The Treasury resides in, this lively bar is equal parts watering hole, sports bar and even large party gathering space to all who come thanks to the abundance of elevated lighting fixtures, a sleek and inviting bar top, and plenty of seating to be found both there and at the many high top tables they had when a group of friends and I came on a recent weeknight evening. With the sun still out, it was the perfect time to enjoy a nice libation and relax after work and a friend who once worked in the area suggested The Treasury to unwind. The menu at The Treasury is on every table and paper coaster as a QR code and is separated into categories including Cocktails, Highballs, Low and No Proof for their beverages and their separate Bites menu. Of course, we came for cocktails and I ordered their Smoke and Mirrors cocktail which had botanist gin, pineapple, smoked tea, lime and bitter. My drinking mates ordered their FIDI Punch, which had Singani 63, Creme de Banane, pineapple, lime and spices; and their Treasury Espresso Martini, which had Bacardi 8yr Rum, Mr. Black Coffee Liqueur, Luxumus liqueur, Muscovado, Angostura and salt. To pair with our meal the staff was generous enough to give us their Popcorn which was made of heirloom kernels and topped with their signature seasoning. Our drinks arrived about ten minutes after ordering and my Smoke and Mirrors cocktail was a smooth lushly composed cocktail presented without any ice, of which I was expecting something dark and smokey and it turned out to be light and airy, as if I was sipping a cocktail at a beach resort. The popcorn snack was the perfect accompaniment to our drinks as the seasoning had a bit of matcha flavoring to it, which made for a unique combination of flavors, especially since there were so many popped kernels to enjoy overall. With games playing on the flat panel television screen in the background and multiple people coming in to enjoy themselves with a private party going on right behind us the atmosphere was lively. It helps that the entire bar area is open to that of the lobby of which it resides, of which you need to enter just to get into The Treasury and to even leave to use the restrooms. Our bill equaled about twenty dollars a person which was reasonable for a light cocktail and quick snack and just like that we were on our way and the subway stop was a mere block away. Who knew something called The Treasury could be so quick and approachable, as I was able to catch some of their larger dishes and shareable meals and they honestly looked real good and hearty like their Tri Tip Sliders and their Avocado Hummus, as everything was reasonably priced too. It was my first time at the Treasury and this place gets packed. For our reservations, they roped off our area and gave us standing tables which is exactly what a group like us loves. I didn't catch his name but the man who was serving us all night was great despite being so busy. He was constantly checking on us throughout the night between drinks and food. The bitterness of the alcohol was cut perfectly by the mango - jalapeño mix. The best part was the lava salt on the rim of the glass. We also ordered the shrimp sliders which were delicious. Each slider was bigger than bite-sized portions, which made for a filling appetizer. The avocado hummus was pretty mediocre though. I was looking for a new place to put in my regular rotation of places in SF, so I found The Treasury on Yelp and decided to visit. Got there around 3:30 in the afternoon on a Thursday and was very impressed by both the design and location. There was a spot at the bar equidistant between two guys who looked like regulars but also looked like they weren't really in the mood to strike up a conversation with a stranger (me). Actually, it did appear they were both trying to wind down after a hectic workday, so I decided not to bother them. I ordered a glass of Hefeweizen to start, but quickly realized it was American Hefeweizen which always strikes me as notably weaker than the authentic German ones. I followed that up with a Whisky Sour that was amazingly stronger than its size suggested (a good thing!). Then I got the Cuban Sandwich appetizer which was good, but definitely not as robust as I've had elsewhere (the one I had before was in Miami's Little Havana district, so probably not a fair comparison). Washed that down with a glass of Tattinger Champagne and a snack of coated peanuts with lime leaves and called it a visit. "So why'd you give it 4 stars?" you ask? Well, the reason I did (mind you, 4 stars in Yelp is still considered "Good") is because The Treasury doesn't give off the local friendly bar vibe. To be sure, this is *definitely* the place to visit if you have a generous corporate expense account and/or are looking to impress a business client. I heard how packed The Treasury gets, luckily we arrived before the rush, right before 4:00 last Friday. A lot of the tables were already taken and those that weren't were reserved. So we sat at the bar. I wish I noticed the specials that were written on the mirror, but next time I'll look and try (if they still have it) the orange slushy. I went with the Smoke & Mirrors which was a gin based drink (but I subbed it out for vodka), pineapple juice, smoked tea, lime and bitters. My coworkers had a Manhattan and another bourbon based drink. I loved my Smoke & Mirrors! It was so refreshing and not very strong (though I've heard some of the drinks are). To munch on we had their popcorn, which had their own special seasoning on it. It took us awhile to figure out what it tasted like, but one of the guys put it perfectly, he said he thought it tasted like chicken cup of noodles. So it's interesting and not going to be for everyone. The bartenders are the perfect mix of friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The wine pours are generously heavy and the place is beautiful with a nice long banquette bar table and some individual tables. Get here early as it gets busy, but it's not annoyingly wall to wall packed like other spots in FiDi get. Drinks are priced at FiDi prices but are well crafted and unique. Think wooden planks to get Smokey flavors and lightly torched popcorn pieces to top a drink off. Reminiscent of Novela but better. I'll be back to quench my thirst. read more

Came to San Francisco for a quick 48 hour trip with a friend. Stumbled into this little bar late on a Thursday night. About an hour before closing. The bar is beautiful to start. Very small, and the decor is beautiful. It's in the old federal reserve building, hints "the treasury". Our bartender Luis was truly a gem and made this experience one to remember! To start he made us some amazing cocktails that looked like they were right out of the tropics. He went out of his way to give us a list of recommendations on where to go in the city.
