Came here for their Kentucky Derby event and wow they understood the assignment. From the second we walked in, the vibe was dialed in. Everyone was dressed to the nines with hats, bows, full Derby energy and it did not feel forced or cheesy. It felt like a party you actually wanted to be at. The crowd leaned in, the staff leaned in, even the bartender was putting on a show. The space itself is gorgeous. Wall to wall whiskey, warm lighting, and that perfect mix of upscale but still fun. You can tell this place knows exactly what it is doing. Drinks were solid and strong in the best way. Service was on point even with the crowd, and the whole experience felt curated without being pretentious. Bottom line, if they host an event, go. They do not just do themes, they commit. I was trying to eat Indian food with friends prior to a show at the Curran. They were dicks and wouldn't let us in 10 minutes early to wait for our 5:30 reservation (in an empty restaurant). It was pouring rain, so we walked down to The Bottle Club Pub. Very glad this happened. I am a cider drinker; they had my favorite cider. My friends like cocktails. Dimitri the bartender and GM was super fun. Great service. My friends ordered their first cocktail from the menu and Dimitri made them his own concoction for a second drink. Dimitri called and cancelled our reservation at the Indian restaurant. We ate at The Bottle Club. Fish and chips were lovely, one of us had a smash burger. Curry fries! Ok. Needed a quick late dinner. Loud bar with loud patrons. A pub with good drinks and some nice whiskies. Some sad looking late diners with kids who tried to make it work. Sports on two TVs. But! A good local beer on draft. A solid juicy smash burger. Fries were acceptable. Skip the wedge salad. It was really an iceberg served. With wedge ingredients but not a wedge of lettuce. Stumbled into this pub after a show in the theatre district and experienced a rush akin to what the first prospector must have felt finding golden nuggets in the Sacramento Valley - EUREKA! We have struck gold!! Bottle Club Pub really IS gold -- killer cocktails, mouthwatering food, suave atmosphere, and reasonable prices. It's almost too good to be true. The rotating liquor shelf is the star feature of this lounge, and it's incredibly mesmerizing to watch it spin around as the red lighting dances on the bottles. It was fun to watch each new group notice it the first time it moved for them -- it seems a pretty ubiquitous experience that everyone enjoys watching it. The decor is kitschy Americana but in a classic, timeless way -- very Norman Rockwell-esque. It gives off a masculine atmosphere with a warm, sensual vibe. The cocktails were excellent and sit around $15 (affordable by SF standards, for sure). The TL crush was bright and fruity, while the Plum Daisy was surprisingly robust. Plenty of options for cocktails as well as draft beer and a small selection of wine. The real standout however was the food -- the fish and chips were PHENOMENAL. They were incredibly crispy and dusted with a type of chicken salt that added a unique layer of umami. The fries were lightly battered (which I loved) and the tartar sauce had fresh dill in it. The Nashville Chicken sandwich was about as authentic as you can find in the Bay -- it was dripping in that classic Nashville sauce and had just the right amount of spice. The service was excellent and friendly. They initially mistook my fish and chips order for a burger, but when they brought out the wrong dish they quickly made it right and we didn't have to wait long at all for the right order. Can't wait to come back and try more things on their menu. We'll be showing this hidden gem to all our friends for as long as they keep that cool rotating liquor shelf maintained! read more

This spot was a cross from our hotel and I loved how it was open later so we could get food coming in from the airport. I loved the atmosphere, it's like a chill bar with an upscale restaurant feel. The wall with all of the liquor is so cool with the moving shelves. It's a big spot with upstairs and downstairs seating. Their menu is a nice size with healthy and hearty options. I love the interior and the whole vibe of this place. They have a two stories to the bar and the biggest selling point of the place is the revolving drink wall. It's a sight to see and enjoy. The place was well decorated! My friends and I enjoyed seeing the bottles rotate as the bartender needed to grab something for our drinks. The beer my friend was served was the last of the keg and he said it tasted very metallic and flat. Chic club, pub bar and eye catching liquor collection. Service was attentive and quick with their entree of Corned Beef served out in a jiffy. They made their rounds to get us utensils and lit the candles for ambiance. Guinness was nice for St Patrick's Day and I like how they have special entrees and drinks to celebrate the holiday. A comfortable spot to have a variety of inventive cocktails with a vast spirit list and interesting wall decor, both behind the bar (rotating up and down) and the opposite wall with antique kitsch from years past. I ordered the Goodluck Charm (Bourboun, Lemon, Apricot, Pineapple, Hibiscus and peychauds bitters, mint) and the Dirty Old Town (Irish Coffee of Powers, Averna, Chocolate bitters and french cream). The Goodluck Charm is a popular drink here. I definitely tasted the bourbon but it wasn't too overpowering. For dirty old town, I really enjoyed it, since I barely tasted the alcohol. It just tasted like coffee to me. I didn't order any food here, but the food looked really good from what I saw especially the burger and fries. Coming here on a Friday night I definitely had higher expectations. We passed this place on the way to dinner, saw their impressive bottle collection and fun menu and decided to stop by afterwards. When we first entered, no one greeted us, and it was unclear whether we could just sit down or not. After realizing there was only one bartender and he didn't seen to care at all, or even look in our direction, we went and sat down. After some time we got menus, and visited the spirits list (the only thing I really care about these days), and saw that they had a Stagg Jr bourbon for the incredible price of $18/pour. The bartender seemed overwhelmed even though there was literally 2 patrons sitting at the bar, and two other tables all of whom had gotten their drinks at this point. Someone in our group went to the bar to get drinks, but one person wasn't able to answer what they wanted right away, and the bartender literally rolled his eyes at us and left to go do something else. We waited probably a good 15 min at the bar to order after that because he was busy making a different drink and couldn't even answer questions. After some time, he said he may not have Stagg Jr so I picked another bourbon. When the cool bottle set up was rotating, I spotted the bottle and requested it. He insisted that this was not Stagg Jr but Stagg (because they recently dropped Jr from the label on the small bottle). Any literal whiskey drinker knows the difference between George T Stagg & Stagg Jr. Just because they dropped the Jr label does not make this Stagg. He argued with us regarding this aspect and in the end charged us more for the same pour. It was overall just like an incredibly rude experience and super disappointing. The mixed cocktails were not well balanced and honestly as impressive as their bottle list is, the service, ambiance and attitude was just off. I would not recommend this spot. read more

Popped in here for a quick drink in between dinner and a show and wish we could have stayed longer! We sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender about some of the different bottles available. While they lean more towards whiskey, I'm more of a gin drinker and the bartender suggested a couple for me to try that were local to the area! They were delicious! We were in the area for a show, so we went around 11pm on a Saturday. It was crowded. The center piece of the bar is the three rotating shelves featuring different types of alcohol. Yes the bartenders do use it to find specific bottles, so you'll see how it rotates, which is pretty cool! They also have a second floor area with additional tables. The bar also features a large collection of ceramic whisky decanters, which are placed on the shelf across from the rotating shelves, so lots of unique features to check out. The seats are mostly high tables. I don't quite remember what we ordered, but the drinks were good. They also serve food until pretty late if you're interested. This is a good spot for a date. The bar staff is really friendly and not self service. They are professional and look like they know how to mix drinks. The drinks were really good and clearly created by a good mixologist. You can taste the different spirits and mixers in them without any one of them being too dominant. I will need to come back and try the food options as they looked really good. This has got to be our favorite bar from our getaway weekend in SF. The space was spacious with much seating. The lighting was bright enough but also gave a warm dark environment. The bottle displace was also super cool to view as they showcased so many bottles. The music was from the 70-80's so super fun and not too loud. My pomegranate tequila drink was mixed well and it was so refreshing! My only suggestion would be for this "pub" to add more beer options. My partner is a beer lover and we chose this location as it's title + webpage claimed to have many beers on tap. They had about 8 beers on the menu, yet they were out of one and the IPA they mentioned on the menu turned out to not be an IPA. We would definitely come back but on a day we're looking for more hard liquor than beer! read more

This is a cute bar in the city near Union Square area that isn't too heavily packed with people. I came on a Friday night and there were multiple open seats to my surprise. To order food/drinks, you go up to the bar to let them know your order. The staff here is friendly and the place is known for their rotating bar shelf. They also have great cocktails! I tried the Love Gun since tequila based drinks are my go to and enjoyed it! It was the perfect alcohol content for me to start off the night. For food, I tried their fish and chips. Cool space to come with a bigger crowd, been here a couple of times and it's usually fairly empty. Love the rotating liquor shelves and general aesthetics - they turn up the music with some old school hits later in the evening. Good cocktails, lots of spirits available - the reason I have 2 star rating is for their bait and switch on stagg jr. They have it marked as $18 on the menu (honestly the best deal considering everything else is marked up significantly) so I asked for a pour of it - the guy said it was Batch 14 after I asked him which batch it is, so he seemed fairly knowledgeable about this whiskey. When I got the bill I was surprised to see it being charged as $25, when I confronted him he said "yeah it's an outdated menu, we had this problem with other customers before too" and tried to still insist that I pay for it. I pushed back pretty hard and told him as a bar it's not right to bait and switch the customer and that they should honor the menu price until they update it. After going back and forth for several minutes he finally agreed to apply a small discount to the overall bill, which ended up similarly to how stagg jr should've been billed for.
