Four minutes before breakfast was over and they still served us up some breakfast with a smile. If we ever make it back to Covington area we will make sure to stop by again. Service was extra slow but the food was great, especially the fried okra which was done perfectly. Just the right motor breading and cooked to perfection, not hard and chewy like many places. However if you are not used to the town (my first visit) BEWARE of the tree out front with a very low brick edging. I didn't see it and went sprawling on the sidewalk with my leg across the bricks. My niece came to town at breakfast time and we wanted to be near the square so we chose the Town House Cafe and in my opinion the only thing making this place worth going to is its location and that there are no other breakfast places during the week (besides bakery type items). We walked in and the server/hostess just stared at us. When we asked where to sit she brought us menus. It's a very simple menu (I'm ok with that) mostly just eggs and meat and white or wheat toast. Everything comes with grits but we asked if they had hashbrowns and she said yes. So I ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. The eggs were a bit slimy- looked like a kid learning to cook scrambled eggs for the first time. The bacon was mostly cooked (I guess I should have asked for it to be crispy). The wheat toast is like white bread with a brown tint to it. And the hashbrowns were patty's like they serve at Mc Donald's. I'm going to assume our server is just very shy and maybe even new because she was as personable as she could be. The location is excellent, the restaurant is clean so they have that going for them. January 2024: Southern food in the heart of Covington GA. Tastes like grandma's food. If you came to Covington and it wasn't for the vampire tv show high five! The lines at the restaurant featured in the show was huge so we walked around town and found this place. Food was ok, diner style. We got the country fried steak with gravy and it was a Saturday so we got some of the veggies of the day: potato salad, fried green tomatoes, Mac and cheese, green beans and yams. Food came with cornbread and a roll. It was my very first time trying fried green tomatoes and it was too salty for me. I'll try it from another place but I didn't like this one. The service was good and the people were nice and I feel bad to say it but I didn't really like the food that much. My husband enjoyed his meal. We went in January btw. read more

What a great little spot! We missed breakfast, so we decided to have lunch. This quaint diner felt very nostalgic. The server was quick to sit our table of five. All of the waitstaff had a great attitude. Our food was the star however. The pork chop sandwich, fried bone in chicken breast and the country fried steak was soooo good. I wish the gravy had a little more seasoning but it was nothing that some black pepper couldn't repair. The price was very respectable. Don't forget to try the candied yams! Adorable place set back in time. I had this place on my list for a while and I decided to go there for lunch. I found out that they close at 4pm and it was almost 3pm. Luckily I still had time to get a bite. They even took someone in for a sit down meal around 3:45pm. I noticed they do alot of take out orders as well. I had a bacon Cheeseburger deluxe and a sweet tea and all was delicious. The restaurant is offset from the town center but still in it so the views are limited. This allows for exploring the town center before or after eating. I think the place is family run and the service is great, I plan to go back and try more dishes. read more

Doesn't look like much walking past or in but oh my my. We came in on 3:30 on a Monday and they close at 4. Was a little bummed because they have yummy vegetable options you can't get at that time but myself and my partner ordered a pork chop sandwich. It was the best we ever had! Perfect on point well seasoned but not salty, greasy or over breaded. Additionally, the place is spotless!! I can see why they have a 100 on the health report!! They were even cleaning the outside of the catsup bottles etc. the young lady waiting on us was pleasant and gave great service. Everything was cooked to order! It was so good we ordered another to go. While we were waiting we decided to try the sweet potato pie! Mannnnn again may be the best I have had. Light flavorful fluffy and not too sweet all flavor! My wife and I walked in and felt good vibes right away. We were greeted and told to have a seat anywhere. We sat across from a table of firemen from Covington. Always trust a place where the local first responders go. Other tables had what appeared to be regulars. My wife had a vegetable plate and I had a fried pork chop. The veggies were vintage southern with ham in the beans, etc. Cabbage was about as good as we ever had. The pork chop was lightly fried and tasty. Good iced tea as well. My Sweetie and I had a late lunch here yesterday. We were greeted right away, found a table and our server came right over with flatware and menus. Drinks were on the table in 2 minutes. My first time stepping in the town house cafe. Can I just mention that I will be coming back. I already love Covington, and everyone knows there some good eats around the area.. and this place is one of them. Family business that's been running for 50 years. That should tell you something ! The cheese burgers and even the fries have been prepared and served with love . Comfort food at its finest. Heard the breakfast here is also delicious . Now yes, the place is outdated. But that's the point , that's where the humble charm steps in and sucks you in. Takes you back in time. I personally liked that.
