We went to the Tile Shop because we were wanting to have a backsplash installed into our kitchen. The Tile Shop was knowledgeable and accommodating. We never felt pressured to make a purchase. Virginia was an amazing person to work with throughout the entire process. We went yo the Tile Shop even though others said not to. Our visit was nice. Salesperson Virginia was our agent. She suggested we take samples home which we did with the understanding they are easily returnable. The major problem came when we tried to return a sample which in 3 days became discontinued. We were at a different location and were told we needed to head back to Lombard. So after driving quite a distance, Virginia also could not refund then and had to get cooperate involved. So.....poor customer service. Will not return to this shop . read more

Only giving 2 stars because of who they STRONGLY recommended to do install. Tile was fine once they got their calculations correct. Tile by Smrz installer was not. Install started out ok but nosedived after job was complete and an issue was identified. Lots of unprofessional excuses and accusations without resolution. Extra tile was not returned. Additionally, one installer smoked the entire time. Garage smelled for weeks. Do not accept The Tile Shop's recommendations for install. Definitely look elsewhere. read more

I called ahead to order some floor grout. The manager asked for a picture, which I sent. She texted back and said she found the color. I drove over and picked it up. After my contractor grouted the areas on my floor that needed grout I noticed the color did not match. After it dried it looked even worse. I texted the manager back and told her she sold me the wrong color, she ignored me. Now I have a floor that looks worse than before. I assumed the manager was an expert. Obviously not. I will never use The Tile Shop again!! Horrible!! read more

Buyer Beware: Order Date: 10/19/21 Deliver Date: 10/25/21 Total Purchase: $4416.47 I was told by the salesperson that at the end of the project I could return the unused tile. The Order Summary that I received at the time of purchase showed the (Return by date) to be open on all line items. No specific dates were detailed. I went to return the unused tile on 3/1/22. At that time the manager told me that my window for the return was closed and that there was a 90-day window for all tiles. I showed him my receipt which showed the return by dates as open, and he said that on the 2nd page of the summary was the 90 days return policy. He then proceeded to reprint another order summary and it was populated with dates. I was never made aware that a clock started at the time of delivery. The manager of the store basically states that I should've read the contract and their corporate office (had to call twice before I received a response) supported the stores decision. I would've returned this material and repurchased to make sure I stayed within this window had I been made aware. My approx. return is $750. I'm a senior citizen on a fixed income, this is a critical loss of funds. I feel like I was purposely oversold material and under informed regarding the return policy. And then the manager had the nerve to offer me a discount on future purchases. Keep in mind that this occurred during Covid (I could only have one contractor in the house) + Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and MLK day fell into this period. No consideration from the tile shop. I was late returning the tile...per the 2nd page of the contract...but the first page showed returned by date open on all line items. PLEASE be careful with your return by dates, especially at this Tile shop. I gave them the measurements supplied by my contractor and The Tile Shop Oversold me by $700 worth of material The Tile shop in Villa Park cannot be trusted to supply critical information. read more

Wow-eee! Overall, I had a great experience during my first experience at The Tile Shop. I say this despite the fact that my first salesperson did not seem to want to go the distance with me; which is surprising because I am one of those fast, definitive shoppers. Fortunately, my second salesperson more than made up for the first. They have some wonderful sample rooms to view where many of the selections on hand are utilized. And, for those with an eyeball for a steal of a deal you can find some normally high priced options at huge price reductions. Good for me. But heads up: some of the sample palettes often show great options, but all the tiles shown may not be available and in the event you have your heart set on something, be sure to have them check their available stock as many of even the most gorgeous El cheapo selections are limited in number. No question, if I plan to tile or grout anything in the future, I'll be back. read more

Needing 4 extra pieces to finish a project the Lombard store employee told me i could get them from their Schaumburg store. I woke early the next morning and drove there only to be told they did not have any. " He should have called and make sure before sending you out here." He called the Northbrook location and secured them for me but it took another hour during morning traffic to get there. Century Tile is right across the street - maybe I made the wrong choice or consideration for a customer stress that's compounded by working with contractors is not a factor when making a sale read more

No mask on employees and one customers. I purchased all the tile for my kitchen a few years ago and had a great experience. Was back today for my bathroom. Unfortunately these days include requiring masks for customer care. I get they are uncomfortable but so is my experience when a customer walks around the store talking on his phone without a mask and two employees stand at a counter without mask. We were there 10 minutes and not even offered sales help. read more

They used to have a location in Schaumburg but it closed. I've shopped here a few years ago when we remodeled our bathroom. They have a lot of unique stone tiles that no one else has. The last time I shopped at the Sch store, the staff was very knowledgeable. This location is no different. Rick knew his stuff and was more than happy to take the time to not only show us the different tiles they had in stock but also tiles they can special order for us. I ended up going with a 24 by 24 marble tile. I forgot the name of the exact color but its a beautiful stone. read more

They stand behind their product!!! We bought tile here for a Florida location and they made the purchase and delivery very easy. There was a problem with the different boxes not matching as if they were from a different dye lot. Our tile installer unfortunately didn't open all of the boxes to check the tile for consistency and started laying it. When he got to a new box he realized it was significantly different in color. Job was stopped and we started the process of correcting, which included pulling off all the tile already laid. Without going into boring details, let me just say the manager and staff at the Lombard location helped us solve the problem and paid for shipping to make the purchase good. They easily could have blamed our tile guy as part of the discovery should have occurred before he laid the tile, but instead bent over backwards to remedy the situation. I would definitely shop here again. read more

My husband and I have been into this location of The Tile Shop 2 times now and have been VERY impressed with the selection and importantly the service that we have received here. We're currently in the process of researching the next phase of our house renovation, the small, yet increasingly complicated bathroom reno. We actually know quite well what we want, small white hexagon tile, something that you would find in almost every tile store, but on a whim we decided to check this place out one day. The shop is great, not only does it have a large selection of current and updated tile selection, but it has a large amount of "bathroom vignettes" lining the store that feature the applications of many of the tiles that they have in the store. It's a great place for do-it-your-selfers because you can actually see what the finished product will be like and the staff will walk through your project step-by-step..... like Jim did with us this morning (special props to Jim!!! who even told us a special trick to dragging the trowel in the same direction for laying your thinset, don't lay your thinset in various directions... your tile will crack etc). I bought a bunch of tile ( found out it was discontinued after I bought it) and had several boxes left over. Thought they might not take it back and give me a refund, but they did! No questions asked. Staff was very friendly when I purchased and returned items. Great selection of tile too. Prices are what you expect for the type and quality of tile. Only downfall for me was that I was looking for a border for my tile to wood transition and the store was lacking a selection. read more

We were remodeling our bathroom and after looking at several big box stores we came to the The Tile Shop. The place is well lit but there is not stock on hand unless you want to buy left over tiles from other people. We went their a couple of times and finally ordered tiles and they came in. We had to go back and place the another order and the sales team was rude to us and saying that they never called when in fact they had. we had such a hard time after ordering several hundred dollars worth of tiles. They have a very good selection of tile and the salespeople are very knowledgeable plus offer some great ideas along with their displays. They have quite a few displays so you can see what the tile looks like in a room, not just trying to imagine it from one piece. Their displays also combine various accent tiles which offers a lot of inspiration. I'm not someone with a natural design talent, so this was very helpful. The salesperson James was great to work with and spent a lot of time with me on my multiple trips to the store and changing my mind every time I went! Also, provided great pricing considering I am not a contractor. Would highly recommend them. read more

We stopped in the Tile Shop late last spring looking for ideas for a dreaded upcoming bathroom remodel. Patrick was so enthusiastic and genuinely interested in planning the perfect solution for us. He did follow-up a few times over the next several months, but we had scheduling issues with our contractor. By the time we were ready to order, Patrick had moved out of state and we had changed our minds on a couple of the items. James was able to step right in where Patrick left off and found Patrick's notes. He was just as enthusiastic and helped us design a great looking bathroom!
