Disappointed. The install went pretty smoothly once schedule was clarified (they initially arrived 1 day early). The install teams were very nice and timely. I anticipated disruption and that there may be a little damage to baseboards and things and there were. My issues were re follow up. There were a few things that needed fixing and it took months to get someone back here. The "fix" to the carpet lifting was to drill it down with a screw (is that a thing?). One spot on the floor was fixed with glue and a mallet - ok. But one section of the floor has a slight bump. I've asked all of my peeps if they can feel and they can. Now I'm told that if they try to fix it, they will probably make it worse, not better. Yes, it's only a small spot, and if it were near a wall, I probably wouldn't care so much. But it's at the front door so I walk over it every day. Many, many texts, and a few visits and it's not fixed. I waited years to replace these floors and carpet and the investment is a big one for me. My experience has not been great re follow up and customer care. Buyer beware. read more

My toddler flooded our bathroom with resulted in the floor needing to be ripped out (we had the bathroom remodeled a few months ago - and the company we used did not level the floor or use water proof caulking...there was a rip in the caulking which caused the water from the bathtub to go under the flooring. The flooring in our mid-90s house needed some serious updating. **update on new project. So after them doing my kids playroom floors I called back to see if they do tile on fireplaces. Thanks to Gus and his partner Eli for finishing the job. Gus completed the job when he said he would and he turned my fireplace around. I loved how he took the time to make it perfect. They had to chip off the middle bricks and cement it to even it out before putting the tiles. That was a tough process. Gus did a great job! He really enjoys what he does and he's naturally good at it. He was very easy to talk to and work with. He also cleaned after himself and was professional. Thanks to him he made my fireplace look amazing! After the project was completed, I painted the mantle my self and my husband did the fireplace doors. Very nice people but super disorganized. Nick, Chelsea are cool but whoever manages samples is a mess! We've been waiting on samples for a month. We ordered them three times and finally went and got the boards and just used those. Worried this will transfer over into the work. Prices are high but more competitive than most but still very high. SCV flooring did vinyl flooring throughout our 2 story condo, they ripped up the old damaged carpet, and replaced it with gorgeous faux wood. They had a ton of choice for flooring that we were able to browse through and even take some samples to our condo to see it in different lights. They were incredibly communicative the whole time. There was a major disconnect between what I was told by the customer service rep and what they were as workers. They didn't cover the furniture, they had no idea what areas they were working on and I only had the downstairs done and it took 4 days to finish the job. I was told it would take 1-2. I'm always skeptical of companies that have 5 star ratings but SCV Floorsmith is the real deal. They completed an absolutely gorgeous flooring project for our home. The owner Nick was incredibly responsive and quick to work out any issues that arose. And the installation team, lead by Jose Leon was truly top notch. Incredibly polite, hardworking, professional, experienced and (most importantly) detail oriented. His attention to detail really made all the aesthetic difference and gave me the utmost confidence in his work. I cannot rave enough about him and his hardworking associate Memo. As for the product, we went with the Cali Vinyl longboard LVP in Seaboard Oak because of how durable they claim to be. They have a 50 year warranty on their longboards and one of the thickest wear layers on the residential market. The color is beautiful and provides the warmth of wood floors but are waterproof and theoretically tough enough to survive giant dogs and toddlers. Their products include a single stair tread (not just a small strip at the front like most) which looks (and feels) really great on our stairwell. Cali vinyl is also locally headquartered in San Diego and their team was easy to reach with product questions. The only downside was the print on their product was somewhat limited and they pack their boxes randomly, so without an installer who has a great eye for detail (like Jose!) it could potentially look repetitive on stairs or in large spaces. read more

My first bad Yelp review :(. I did a lot of research and ultimately chose this company because of their glowing reviews. Unfortunately, the job was poorly done, they left a mess for me to clean up, clogged my sinks with wood and nails and damaged a case of flooring. The floors were sloppy, stained and creaked in several areas due to improper installation. The installation took several more days than originally quoted (the condo was 965 square feet). I had to clean up after them and touch up the baseboards myself because I had tenants moving in. I tried to come to a reasonable agreement with the owner who threatened to take a lien out on my property. Wish I had just gone with Home Depot. read more

We had recently bought a house and SCV Floorsmith was one of the 6 companies we reached out to get our floors completely redone. John came in for the measurements and quote. He was on time, pleasant and very through while measuring and explaining the process. SCV Floorsmith were also the most affordable and most highly rated companies from the 6 we reached out to, so, after talking to John we felt comfortable to go ahead with them. Our work was done in 2.5 days. 1 day for Demo, 1 day for LVP and baseboards installation and 0.5 day for tile installation in laundry room. The workers did an amazing job on the installation and cleaning everything. Only thing we didn't like was the workers ate some oranges from trees and did not clean up after and they also broke our fruit picker, I relayed that information to John and John said, he was upset about this and would reach out to workers. I would have given 4.5 stars just due to this small incident but Yelp does not let you do that so I am giving all 5. The job was done in a timely manner, at a good price and it was done cleanly. read more

We replaced carpet in two of our bedrooms and the entire experience was excellent. John arrived on time at our house with carpet samples that would fit a variety of budgets. He explained the differences between the different kinds of carpet choice. From that point on he was our main point of contact with the company and assisted in all aspects of the transaction. On carpet install day, two installers arrived and helped move our furniture so they can begin the job. They completed quickly and vacuumed up after themselves. When I got home I noticed that they did not lay the carpet out completely across the room and came up about a half inch short of one of the walls. I immediately contacted John and he very quickly dispatched the installers the next day (a Saturday) who came in, recut and seamed the carpet to the correct length and corrected the issue. While it was unfortunate the job was not completed the first time around, the way SCV Floorsmith handled themselves afterwards is admirable and has earned my trust that they will stand by their work and make sure their customers have a result that they are happy with. read more
