We were looking to get wood flooring installed on the second floor of our house to match the same as what we already downstairs. We shopped around and Nick offered us the best overall rate and also had the best ratings on average. Nick was very communicative and flexible throughout the process. From start to finish it was a five star experience. We also ended up having them install carpeting on the stairs (pictured here) that was custom ordered and a great deal. We went with carpet instead of wood on the stairs due to our dogs mostly. The only area that could use any improvement was the estimate on the time to complete the job. The time to complete was under estimated a bit. However, worth it when you see the quality of their work. They did a fantastic job. This is an update to my previous review. Customer service and abilty to fix problems after the installation need serious work. Our floor started lifting in the kitchen because the installation team had not taken enough time and days to level our floor properly in all the places. They only did certain spots. Beware of this in the contract! I contacted the owner who put me in contact with another member of their team. It took a month to fix it the FIRST time, and over a month the fix the same area the SECOND time, and two months to fix it the THIRD time. The third time was the worst as I was instructed to call the lady who was on maternity leave and wouldn't return texts or calls in a timely manner. By the time they finally came out to fix it, the warranty was on the last days - I do believe this was intentional - as it surely cost them a lot to send a crew out to fix the problem 3 times. After the kitchen area was finally fixed, the floor started lifting in 3 other areas - dining room and two other spots in the kitchen. I contacted the owner, Nick, and never received a response back. We waited years and saved up to replace our flooring in the whole house and this has been a very disappointing and frustrating experience. It's going to cost us ANOTHER fortune to have it all redone correctly. If I could remove my previous review I would. Definitely think twice about having them do work in your house! read more

We just wrapped up laminate flooring installation on 2nd floor and the stairs with white risers at my house. While there were hiccups on the way (damaged material resulting in delays), once Jose and his team were able to get the flooring and start work, it was smooth sailing. Jose came in a day earlier to remove carpet and was extremely knowledgeable about the floors. They did the flooring all day the next day starting around 10 and ending at 9. While they could have come back another day to finish, they worked hard to ensure that I could leave the city for the weekend. They cleaned up afterwards and were overall a quiet and efficient group! This review is long over due (only 2 weeks). We had Nick and staff did major work in the living room/stairwell; kitchen, and kitchen cabinets. We had the living room/stairs changed from laminate to hardwood flooring. The kitchen we had the existing (very old) tiles replaced, and the kitchen cabinets refaced. The wood flooring was done by Jose and Moises! Wonderful, courteous, respectful, and very detailed workers. They worked well together and it only took them 2 days to complete including demo. The kitchen tiles were done by Albert and Justin. Again, the workmanship was impeccable. We had some minor setbacks with the material but at the end it all worked out. The refacing of the kitchen cabinets plus adding handles for an updated look was done by Justin and Rodolfo. Again, the work was amazing. All the guys were nice, pleasant, on time, and cleaned after the work was done. Over all, we are very satisfied with the work and the communication between Nick, his crew, and us. read more

I can't say whether they do good work or not, but I will say this: I called and spoke with Nick, to ask if they could stretch carpet. I had a few places upstairs where the carpet was loose and needed to be stretched. He told me that, while they could do it, most people decide to just replace the carpet because there's so much labor in stretching (moving furniture). Replace $6,000 worth of carpet when just a few wrinkles needed to be stretched? I called another local company, and they came next day. $250, and my carpet looks like new. UPDATE: Wow! In response to your response: you aren't being honest. I did not tell you the carpet had been in my home for 20 years (it hasn't), nor did I tell you that "Mexicans had come to stretch the carpet." What does the race of a worker have to do with it? I don't know why you couldn't just leave it at a simple apology, or drop it entirely. read more

What can I say. I contacted Nick the owner who responded immediately. He then connected me with John who provided lovely samples and came to our home the next day for a quote. To my surprise, due to a cancelation we were able get our new floors installed the following Monday! Jose and Boris were professional and prompt. They arrived Monday and were completely done before 4pm Wednesday which included old tile and pergo demo and vinyl installation for the entire bottom floor to include pantry, bath and laundry room with beautiful base moldings. We met with several flooring companies and contractors - from Home Depot to local experts - and decided to go with SCV Floorsmith. It was the RIGHT choice. First off, Nick is great to work with - extremely communicative, provided multiple options for pricing, and worked with us when we decided to forego the second floor for just the first floor. We bought our own laminate, but SCV was willing to handle the demolition of our existing ceramic tile, installation of the new laminate, and purchase/installation of baseboards and carpeting for our staircase. While we had neighbors that waited well over 3 weeks to get their flooring complete, SCV's people did not delay. Their installers are craftsmen, and do what it takes to get the job done. Within 2 days, they got most of the ceramic tile up and out of the house. They spent an extra day to carefully ensure all the foundation was level. When they went to work on the laminate, they FLEW. They gave us multiple options for baseboards. We were amazed at how fast our old flooring went out and our new flooring came in. There was a bit of a delay (nothing egregious or frustrating) - the carpet we wanted had to be special-ordered, and when we found out it would take longer than we wanted, John came back out to review new samples with us. I also didn't buy enough laminate, so had to order more boxes. No frustration or issues with scheduling - Nick and I agreed that when the laminate came in, they would come back quickly and take care of the remaining bathroom and bedroom. And within 2 days of my notifying them that the laminate had arrived, they came back and finished the job that morning - including cleanup on some of the flexible baseboards, filling in of gaps between quarter-rounds and fireplace, and just the small, tiny details that is the difference between a contractor trying to get to their next job and a craftsman that has their own high standards for quality. SCV was not the cheapest, but they were a 5 star reviewed company and after our experience with them, those stars are well-earned. Its not worth gambling something like your flooring with the wrong contractor. Go with SCV Floorsmith - they're worth it. read more
