I have never had wood flooring installed. The homes I purchased had wood floors already in place, therefore very new experience for my husband and I. We ended up getting 3 quotes. We chose Creative Carpets as a result of their customer service and follow up. They were priced, when comparing apples to apples, competitively. Whether calling the store in Mokena or stopping in Brian and all other associates were happy to serve as well as professional. Responsive when leaving a message or emailing too! My only surprise, which is not a big deal for me but could be for others, is as the customer you are responsible for disposing the carpet/flooring being torn up. Additionally all the scraps and materials not used. We had 5 large garbage bags and multiple rolls of carpet from 2 bedrooms. It can be heavy if you are a senior or not able to do heavy lifting. Be sure to consider Creative should you be considering new flooring. They have been in Mokena a long time and family owned. After doing research and reading about how it's not a good idea to get carpet from a big box home improvement store, I found Creative Carpet via a search of places near me. When we walked in we were greeted by Brian and he helped us find the perfect carpet for our needs. The price was great and the carpet is really nice in our house. The men that came to install the carpet were such hard workers and we were very pleased with them, too. We had Creative Carpet and Flooring install oak flooring in our living room and dining room. They did a wonderful job from start to finish. The whole process started when my wife and I walked in to CCF and were greeted warmly by Chris. We picked out a couple of samples and took them home to match the wood flooring that already existed in the house. We picked out the one we wanted. CCF sent someone out to measure. My wife and I went back to CCF and finalized our selection of hardwood and paid. About a week later 20 packages of butterscotch oak hardwood arrived at the house. (The wood needs to acclimate to the humidity in our house). Four days later the our flooring was being installed by Adam and his brother. They both did a great job and were done in 2 days. Its the little things that Creative Carpet and Flooring did that made me happy. 1. Adam felt some of our sub flooring was loose. He installed screws to tighten it up. 2. Adam and his brother (whose name escapes me right now) were very careful moving my furniture and breakables. 3. Adam folded all the boxes up and left them nicely tucked in behind our garbage cans so they would not fly away. 4. CCF took out the old carpet and wrapped it in duct tape to it would be easy for me to pitch it to the curb on garbage day. 5. Chris called me before each step and told me what would happen and how long it would take. He was correct on everything. This was one of the best experiences we have had from start to finish. Julie spent A LOT of time helping me with carpet and I had just the right one, but ended up finding out my carpet just needed the right cleaning to look like new. Believe me, if you want someone who knows about carpet, this young woman knows everything about carpet and she will not try to sell you something that is not what you are looking for. She is very impressive. Carpet Cleaning - these guys did a fabulous job. Way better than the Chem Dry experience I had a couple of years ago which made my carpet hard and even changed the tone of the color so that my stairs no longer matched the rest of the room. I had my master bedroom done by Creative's cleaning and the carpet looks like new and was ready to walk on in an hour. If you have not been in this store they are amazing. Go see Julie. It took me three floors to finally get one with so far only one defect, which was fixed by hammering tile bump flat and then putting a sparkle of some kind over the area. My husband and I had to move furniture, remove closet doors, etc. three times. The second install was cancelled due to more defects but crew showed up at 8:00AM anyways because they were never notified. I had to touch up wall and just accept the new scratches on appliances, etc. They put new trim down but it ended up having a lot of gauges but they did touch up with one of those furniture markeI feel like I never really received a new floor, more like a used one. For all the inconvenience they said they would take $150 off of a $3,200 job and that was the best they could do. I really never received an apology from the owner and was passed around to three different people like no one really wanted to deal with me. I started to feel like I caused the problem and no one really cared about it one way or another. For my first project in a long time it was a super big disappointment. I would like to add that I did not ask for $150. You offer $50 to all customers in your newsletters every month. Most family and friends felt I basically should have paid for labor only after such a big inconvenience. You state in your newsletters that most customers don't want to wait a second when there is a problem and that you want to do whatever you can to make things good even if it hurts. I do agree the third time out that basically the patch up job was the best route to go because by this point I didn't want any more issues to my walls or trim or surrounding tiles . Your crew tried to make me think they were doing me a favor by leaving me spare tiles I guess in case I found more defects but little did I know until later that the tiles they left me were actually the defective ones from the first floor they installed. The seams in my new carpeting were not done to my satisfaction. Carpet repair technician came out and steamed them and said they would get better with time. I have waited and they are no better. Contacted Mark, the owner, and he told me to hire a private company to inspect the carpet. I do not think this is the way to handle a seaming issue. As I have said, this is not the customer service I expected from Creative Carpet. I was very patient and understanding when they needed to replace my carpet because of the Shaw Carpeting manufacturing problem, which was a big inconvenience. I had CC carpet my whole house. They gave me a good discount since I was buying so much. It took me forever to decide what I wanted and sales person Michelle was very patient with me. We had the work done in 2 passes. First the stairs, family room, living room and one bedroom, then the remaining bedrooms. The first time we had the installers move the furniture, but the 2nd time, we did it ourselves to save a few bucks. I was happy with the whole experience. Not only was Michele great, but also the guy we talked to to schedule the installers and the installers themselves. The installers were very polite and were on time. I used Creative Carpet to sand my hardwood floors and the experience was great! Michelle was very patient as I went back and forth in my decision of what I wanted to do with the floors. The workers were on time, respectful and hardworking. When they came back to move the furniture back at the end of their workday, their 'perfectionist' attitude really came through, wanting to make sure furniture was perfectly lined up instead of just plopping it down! We have had all our flooring replaced by CC. Carpet and laminate flooring as well. Very professionally done. Moving the furniture was an issue for us but they did that as well. Friendly staff and the owners, what can I say, great people. We looked around and found that Mark and his staff gave us the most information when it came to a good grade of carpet and flooring. Other stores were not as hands on as CC. They stand behind their products and their workmanship. If there is an issue, they take care of the issue as best they can. Highly recommend Creative Carpet. PROMISES, PROMISES, PROMISES DO NOT use this company for hardwood floor installation. Promised world class installation. Knew that home was occupied and full of furniture. Sent a crew who were physically unable to move furniture(their words) so they slid the furniture around the rooms complaining about how "hard it made the job". There are mars on the finishes of the board edges throughout the house. We have found cracked boards, poorly cut ducts, damaged wall edges, poorly installed molding. Mark(owner) came out and promised to repair to our satisfaction. He would have the installer "crawl" the floors and find and fix all the damage. The repair installer refused to do this and would only fix the damage that had been previously marked. He was big and tall and became mean and aggressive and told me I could find the damaged boards myself. I am afraid to have anyone representing this company come in my home and since so many of the broken boards are in visible areas and replacing them could leave other imperfections I just don't want to have anything done. I am just very disgusted with how this expensive home improvement project was ruined. PROMISES MADE, NOT KEPT. read more
