The designer's first available appointment was three weeks out. Okay, that's fine, I can wait. The day of her appointment--she canceled on me saying she was sick. She never sent anyone to reschedule or even told her company. I checked in after a week to reschedule. She said she was still out. Nothing else. No backup person. After the third week I called the company. They didn't even know about me, my appointment etc. They also said there's no one else to help me. They can forward me to the manager but I basically just need to wait for Sena to come back. Terrible customer service. Unreliable. I chose to take my business elsewhere. If a company is 100% reliant on one designer --and doesn't have a backup to help customers -- I can't imagine if I did do business with them and something happened that needed mediation. Who do you go to? Who is the next person to step in? Basically you just wait...I support smaller businesses. If they called me to explain and kept in communication it would have been better. But when i called they didn't even know about my appointment.

A small business with poor customer service. Our impression was that they were over-extended, but…read morewe realized this was not the problem. The job site staff were great. The design was excellent. At times, it felt like a struggle to get answers about the process and schedules. Then problems arise: a new staff person without skilled professional experience was sent to work on the painting. He left damage and a mess for other regular staff to repair the next day. This was only resolved when we demanded that no further work be done until the damage was corrected. The owner was planned to send the same employee back with someone else the next day. He stated they "would assess after." He stopped into the house the day it happened, and saw part of the mess, but left the employee there alone. We had to push for something when it should have been obvious to the owner what the right thing was to do upon damage (for example: sloppily painting over areas that needed patching/sanding, not using drop cloths and getting paint on the new floor, door frames/accessories and surfaces, painting adjustable melamine shelving so they stuck to the walls and supports, and using the wrong paint type on surfaces). We lost two days of work from that. The shelves had to be replaced. We always received excuses and contradictory explanations, for any issue or inquiry, to what really occurred or was stated. Furthermore, communication problems persisted. Staff didn't keep each other informed about specifics to the job. Office staff actually made excuses or statements that indicated what was on paper didn't matter. Several inquires were ignored. The owner had excuses for everything. When a customer is paying on time, and honoring a contract, they better care, and know about the job specifics. That is what they are being paid to do. We honored the contract fully and engaged with the owner because we liked the work until then. We were at the junction where small finishes and the final payment were due. A staff member flushed blue contractor paper towels down the toilet. We found out when our system backed up on a Saturday a few days afterward, and sewage flowed out of the lower level, into the garage and down the driveway. We couldn't use our plumbing and had to have an emergency plumber come out. He showed photos of the blue paper towels from the scope camera that were in the pipes out front of the house. They blocked the drainage and back-flowed into the toilet downstairs anytime plumbing was used anywhere in the house. This bill was $868.00. It took the weekend to clean up. We presented the bill and photos to the owner. He agreed to pay for it. Then the final construction statement increased and the accounting for this was murky. There was an over $800 increase on the labor side without explanation. Only the materials were itemized, and a some final items increased without clear itemization. After running numbers for both labor and materials from the estimate, compared to the final total, 75% was labor and not itemized. When we demanded this to be itemized, the owner refused. When questioned about why a door was priced at almost double and incorrectly identified as a double panel when it was a single, the owner referred to labor for the door-after stating labor is not itemized. He offered no justification for any unexplained labor increase. Stopping short at calling the lack of transparency suspect is being generous. Being over-extended or disorganized doesn't defend charges that don't add up on the final tally. My spouse is a PhD in math. Numbers don't lie. We were prepared to retain an attorney when the owner refused to clarify and itemize expenses and refused to provide receipts and itemization for those increases. He offered a 5% discount on the final project total, plus reimbursement for the plumbing fiasco. We accepted and paid the final amount. We were sick of dealing with them. The owner always had his own version of what occurred. This isn't about COVID issues. It's about an owner not taking accountability. UPDATE as of 2/2021: No permits were ever filed for any part of this job, like the owner was supposed to do, until we found out in January 2021. The job finished in November 2020. The owner actually replied that he thought we wanted the job done without permits. Note this is a licensed contractor who "completed" a professional job without permits. Worse, he actually tried to shake us down for $500 more to file the permit applications. His justification was that permits were never a line item in the contract. If the reader has fully read this review, it was noted that he could not and flat-out refused to provide documentation for questionable increases, and for the labor that was 75% of the bill. My spouse reminded him of this, and he filed the permits after we also informed him that we spoke directly with the permit office. STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. The owner is dishonest.

I always feel like I'm at a fancy hotel when I'm in my bathroom now which makes me so happy. The quality of the work is great and if ever I had an issue with something, all I had to do was ask and it was resolved without question. Mauricio and Blanca are very hard workers and I enjoyed working with them during this process. The tile installers were also very impressive and even came on the weekend so as not to delay. Kamil, the owner, even did some of the work himself! The crew did their best to keep everything clean and I appreciated that the floors leading from the front door upstairs to the master bath were all covered to prevent any carpet damage or mess. The whole process took longer than what was stated in the contract but with COVID delays I do not fault the company. They still finished the work in 20 working days. My project manager, Teagan, was a pleasure to work with. He was extremely polite and respectful. While we were waiting on one final piece of the bathroom to be delivered (tub), we self-installed a bidet attachment and accidentally dented the brand new tower cabinet with a wrench in the process (don't bring tools into your brand new bathroom!). The damage was on one drawer and even though the beautiful cabinetry comes with touch-up paint, we couldn't quite get it to look right. I showed Teagan and he took the drawer and got it repaired at no additional cost to us. You can't even tell that we dented it! I very much appreciated this service and it really shows that they care about their customers. I did feel I was a valued customer during the process. Not everything with the bathroom went smoothly. This is primarily attributed to the designer that was assigned my bathroom. She did not order things in a timely fashion, nor would she get back to me about things when she said she would. It was very frustrating and resulted in miscommunication to the team and things being ordered incorrectly or not ordered at all. This designer is no longer working at Prime. I don't hold this part of the experience against the rest of the team because they did all they could to remediate any issues the designer caused, and moving forward, there shouldn't be these issues. All in all, the bathroom looks amazing, I'm so pleased with the end result. A bathroom remodel like this is never inexpensive but Prime offered great value and service. I chose to use them over other design-build companies because they were most willing to help me try to be as close to my budget as possible and were transparent with pricing between labor and materials (as opposed to all the others who estimated an additional $10k+ and didn't itemize the labor/materials costs). Additionally, while they are more expensive than a non-licensed crew, to me paying extra for the licensing and people to organize the permitting and everything is worth it!

We finalized everything, signed the contract...and then entered remodeling hell. The individual assigned as "project manager" was incompetent and spoke virtually unintelligible English. The workers were rude and left the worksite a disaster each day. I heard them complaining about our dog (and we were careful to keep her away from them). After one day of chaos we left to stay with family for a week and things rapidly deteriorated. Problems popped up (as they will) and I was left dealing with the project manager and their broken English, only to learn they felt I was the problem for leaving the house in their hands while the demolition took place. They ordered the wrong flooring tile. They mismeasured cabinets (leading to a SIX WEEK DELAY due to their error, with no compensation for the disruption). I watched as they laid the floor tile, asking about proper backing board as the previous owner had retiled without the proper backing board. I was told all was fine. 6 months after the project was done I found five cracked tiles. The workers they hired to paint - idiots. They messed up edging of paint leaving crooked lines. In one place, the color I thought was correct (okay, my error) was obviously not correct but they said nothing. The only contractor I thought was good was the electrician and shortly after "completion", I had to call my regular electrician to reinstall a power outlet that kept pulling loose. We HAD planned, based on our initial experience, to use this company to remodel two master baths. At the end of our (3-4 week estimated) 4 month plus project we just wanted them out of our house. We would never use them again, let alone recommend to our worst enemy. Stay away from this company. Stay far, far away.

Kitchen Renovation…read more We had another firm do the kitchen design. We also bought our cabinets and countertops through this other company. However, when it came to the installation, the price that the other guys were asking seemed unreasonably high, so we went looking for other installation options. That's how I found Advance Construction Concepts. Al Honarvar (the owner) came over to our house to work on the estimate. He suggested several changes to the design, colors, and materials. His price was also significantly lower than other quotes. His crews were efficient, expert, and on-time. Our kitchen looks beautiful. Ever suggestion Al made was spot on. Even when I was picking out a backsplash or paint, I could text him and get his opinion before buying. The work is top quality. The materials he suggested were huge upgrades over what we had picked ourselves, and at the same or lower price. My only regret was that we didn't work with Al right from the beginning. Not only a great job, but a great experience as well.

All the vendors he sent me to were top notch, the team was always on time. Communication was awesome, and I always knew who was going to be there, and what they would be doing. Ryan has been doing this a LONG time, and while he strongly feels that the customer is always right, he is also more than willing to break down the pros and cons of any decision. You make the decision, but Ryan is more than able to give you the benefit of his experience. I love the quality of the materials and the workmanship, and the value for the product cannot be beat. Clean up was very thorough, and they sent a man back just to go over any small items after the job was done (I was hard pressed to find any). I can't really think why I would hire anyone else.

Please note that this review is only based on the design and consultation steps of a bathroom…read morerenovation we tried to do with Ryan Reph Remodeling. We contacted Selwa Reph to come to our house and start the process for giving us an estimate to renovate a 10'x12' bathroom. While discussing what we wanted, I pointed out that because it will be the most used bathroom in the house, we want it to be more than just a basic job and were willing to spend some money to use higher-end materials and to please reflect that in the price estimates for the contract. I asked the same of her that I did the other companies who came in....please don't quote us the lowest price estimate for materials....we're not buying plain white tile from Home Depot, so please estimate for midrange materials so if we have the budget we can go for even nicer stuff, but don't budget for the low-end materials. We have not done a renovation like this before, so we had no idea what cheaper materials cost vs more expensive ones, so we were relying on her expertise. When we showed a picture of a shower with glass tiles, we asked Selwa how those materials would change the prices quoted in the contract and she said it would be a difference of a few hundred dollars. We signed with Reph Remodeling and they gave us a price range of $8/SqFt for tiles to work with. They also sent the specs for the job to Architectural Tile and Ceramic in Vienna. When my wife and I showed up there to select tile, grout, flooring, etc., out of all the selections in that store, there was about 1/4th of one small bin that let us pick from about 20 basic porcelain tiles in that price range (see picture). With such a pathetic selection, we went ahead and picked out tiles we liked in the $16 price range. What had been an $1,850 allowance ballooned to a $5,920 estimate from Architectural Tile and Ceramic. And that amount was based on the contractors discounted prices! When I spoke with Selwa Reph about her estimate for $8/SqFt, she defended it and said I should have been able to find something in my price range there but said she would call the salesperson and review the quote they had provided us. She also claimed she specified the "difference of a few hundred dollars" for glass tiles was only in reference to the construction cost...not the added cost of the tiles which she did not mention or use to adjust her estimate of $8/SqFt....why didn't she add in the change in the cost to materials as well? When we went to another tile shop to redo the entire process of selecting materials, the manager of the store immediately caught an error on the original quote from the other store that added on over $1,300 to the quote; calling for a whole palate of 50 lb bags of thinset......56 bags in all....2,800 pounds of thinset for a 10'x12' bathroom. The other tile shop said we would need 4 bags at most. The total from Architectural Tile and Ceramic was still way over Selwa's estimate of $1,850, but a huge glaring error that should stand out to a company that works with this all day every day. When I asked Selwa about this error, she admitted that she did not actually review the order with the sales rep and just never caught the error. It was after bringing this issue up along with pointing out my displeasure about the lowball pricing estimate that Selwa Reph decided to terminate the contract and returned our deposit. While they get great reviews and I have no basis for commenting on the demo & construction team, they are not cheap so we expected better results at all stages of our interactions with them. If you decide to work with them, just be skeptical of the materials pricing unless you already know exactly what you're going to have them install and then make sure you have someone else review the order for materials accuracy. I will note that the contractor we wound up going with wound up costing less, immediately verified the estimates from the tile supplier and went over our selections to make sure he understood what we wanted so he could give us the most accurate estimate which wound up being within $150 of the final total for materials.
