I really like this place. They will Tie Dye pretty much anything....shirts, masks, headbands, bags, towels, socks, sweatshirts..... They are not open on Mondays, FYI. There is huge parking lot there that it shares with the other businesses in the strip mall that it is in. I got there as soon as they opened so, I was in and out in about 40 minutes. The place starts to back up as the day goes on. They only have 3 to 4 people working the floor and assisting customers at any given time. The staff is awesome. They were very friendly and extremely helpful. They made the process very easy and simple. The shop is very clean and well organized. The first thing that you do is get a card to fill out (one card per item). You then pick the item you want to tie dye. My little went with a tote bag and a shirt. They have most of the items on display around the store and shirts on a rack that you can try on to get the right size. You then pick the colors you want to use.from a swath of colors on the table. The also have each color on shirt displayed around the shop. Three colors are included and each additional color is a buck. After all that you pay for your item or items get some disposable gloves and aprons and they send you to a work table (either high or low). They bring out your items and the color dyes that you picked out. From there you pick your tie Dye design, from stripes, swirl, or patches and they set your shirt up to the design you selected by using rubber bands. My little chose stripes for the tote and swirl for the shirt. After it is set up you add the dye in the designated areas between the rubber bands (front and back). After that, they take the item or items and prep them. That takes about 10 to 20 minutes depending on how busy they are. During that time, you can play one of their board games they have there or write on the chalk board or play on your cellular device. After they have prepped it, the last thing you have to do is rinse your items out in the sink until the water comes clear and then run them through a wringer and you are done. The bad up your stuff, give you some important care directions and then send you on your way. One thing to note during this is to be carful. As the signs say at most of the tables, "dye dyes everything", so if you get it on your hands or clothes it will be there for a while. In the case of your clothes, forever. This was an awesome experience and my little had a lot of fun and loves her creations. It is a tad on the pricey side, but well worth it. Great indoor family fun and you get to bring something home to show for it. They do birthday parties, corporate events and field trips. I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

Tie dyeing isn't an activity that I'm going to let happen at my house anytime soon, especially with children like mine who are active and have a total disregard for preserving any sense of order and cleanliness. So I'm glad that a place like The Tie Dye Lab exists, because we get to explore a new-to-us artform that is fun as well as functional, and all the mess stays away from my house! We visited during one of The Tie Dye Lab's preschool story times, where kids under the age of 6 can tie dye an item, and also listen to a story, do a craft and eat a snack. This is a really fun introduction to tie dyeing, and the whole experience was relaxed and really fun. A staff member is there the whole time to guide you and help with each step. It's an hour of fun for young kids in a kid-friendly environment. They have a lot of different things that you can tie dye here -- everything from t-shirts to beach towels to bandannas to bags -- but we visited around Christmas time, so we tie dyed a Christmas stocking. It came out so good! It's definitely something we will treasure forever. If you have a young child, I highly recommend visiting during one of their preschool story times. But if you don't have a preschooler, just know that all ages are welcome here, and you don't need a reservation or anything -- they accept walk-ins. My friends an I had soo much fun creating wearable art! No experience needed. Each group is assigned a Tie Dye Lab associate who walks you through each step of the process, you can NOT mess up! If you are new to tie dying like me here is a tip: If you choose to bring an item to tie dye rather than purchase one of theirs it NEEDS to be 100% COTTON! I did not realize this and was not able to dye the shirt I brought in. The reasoning behind this is that the dye will bleed and not absorb properly if NOT 100% cotton. The Tie Dye Lab has a large selection of items(masks, t-shirts, tank tops, dog shirts, sweatshirts...) to choose from with varying prices, all listed on a large white board. As soon as we walked in I knew it was going to be a fun time. With colorful shirts arranged on the walls in rainbows and large tables for creating, the Tie Dye Lab is perfect for creating some awesome clothes without getting messy! You can stop in or make a reservation. Once you sign in you'll fill out a sheet of paper with what sizes and articles you'll be dying. TIP: There is a section where you can try on the clothes to see what size fits and how they will shrink with washing. They also have all of the colors on swatches so you can mix and match to see what colors look best together. I'm ok with getting messy but my husband and daughter aren't fans which is what makes them hesitant to tie dye. They were both very happy with the smocks and gloves for protection and I was happy without having dye in my house! This place is not your usual date night and we loved it!! It wasn't too expensive considering you get the experience along with it. The staff was really nice and super helpful! I loved that they had a sample area so that we could see what things would look like, hat they would fit like, and different designs. Also they had the colors all on the wall of all the tie dye colors so that you could see what the looked like once finished. There were tons of color options which was super cool! I chose mermaid, fuschia, ad peach! The chilling area was pretty nice as well. I loved the sears! They had games you could okay uno, cards, connect four and more. I love tie dye and making one with my sweetheart was fun and enjoyable. The store is located in a strip mall, parking is easy, everything is was super clean. Staff was friendly but spoke so fast, it was hard to catch all the instructions. There are lots of choices in items and loads of colors to choose from. A bit more advice on color choices would have been welcomed. They did allow you lots of time to complete your project and we're not intrusive. First off, I am so surprised this business has only one other review!? What in the world?! Anyway, I was trying to find activities to do with my kids during spring break and I stumbled upon this place. I am so glad that I did, because I seriously think its a great concept and we all had a great time. When you first arrive, you walk to the cash register where the employees greet you and explain the process. You then receive an order form that you fill out with the items you want to dye. The beauty of this place is that there is a ton to choose from to dye! From t-shirts, sweatshirts, drawstring bags to boxers shorts or bandanas. There is something for everyone and items are very reasonably priced. I choose a womens vneck which was $22 and my daughter choose a drawstring bag for $16. With the price of your item you get to choose 3 colors to use. If you wanna add any more its a $1 per color. After you pick out your colors and items an employee takes you over to the dyeing station where you pick your design and rubber band it together. This was pretty awesome because the employees stuck around to see if any help was needed. They were very helpful and explained how to twist it up and get it ready for the dyes. After you get to apply dyes to your shirt which my daughter loved to do! You then give your items to the team members to process. That took a whopping 15-20 minutes! There was a waiting area with games to play while you waited. Honestly the time flew! Before we knew it we were rinsing out our shirts and they were ready for us to take home! Please note: Your shirts will be given to you wet and with a special soap to wash in when you get home. The whole process for us took about an hour and it was so much fun! Where do I begin??? My wife and I were looking for things to do with out little girl while she was on Spring break. We moved out to the Midwest from CA, not to long ago, and we are still feeling out the lay of the land. So when we my wife mentioned that we should take our daughter to The Tie Dye Lab, I was expecting to get an experience like a pottery place. While the concept is similar, the experience was very different. When we entered the studio, we were promptly greeted by one of the employees and asked if we had ever done tie dye before. We told her we hadn't, and she quickly explained the process. Everything from picking out the product and pricing, the amount of colors we were entitled to, and if we wanted anything additional with our purchase. Once we had picked out what we wanted to dye, we were then taken over to the workbenches, and the girls very kindly showed each one of us how to decorate what we had picked. 15 minutes after we had finished our stuff was finished too!!! Easy peezy lemon squeezy!!! The best thing about this place is that it can be used for a birth experience. It's something that we are always looking for since our daughter has her birthday in the winter, and while throwing a party would be nice, the weather might not allow it. This place would be perfect for a fun-filled time. We will definitely coming back, since our oldest son liked how the tie dye turned out, and now he wants to try it too!! read more

We attended the PreSchool storytime and craft. It was a well organized event and my kids had a blast. The day starts with a nice seasonal story...then you put your apron and gloves on and start dye-ing! I had two young kids w me and the staff was extremely helpful! Next the kids did a craft (we made Santa hats and dot painting) and a quick snack (water, fruit snacks and cookies)....then finished rinsing our stockings, and took a picture of our finished tie-dye! Definitely a good spot to take the kids and try something new! The process was very easy. You get a order form and mark what you want. They have a great variety of colors to choose from (first 3 colors are free). They also have shirts available to try on to see how they fit, but you can make a lot more than just shirts. You can add decals for an additional few dollars. When you're done, turn it in. Then they get you set up! They seriously make it so easy and clean. A tie dye expert comes over and assists you in making your design. After that, it goes into a microwave for about 15 minutes. You can play games or color while you wait. Then you rinse off your design in their giant sinks, and you're good to go! You just have to wash it when you get home. It's pretty fast, so it is not somewhere you could spend a long rainy afternoon. It takes maybe an hour. I definitely recommend checking it out! read more

I had a free tie dye birthday voucher via WTTS. The location was a little out of the way for my downtown residing self but I made the trek to Avon and I'm so glad I did! Everything was so user friendly and you don't need any experience to create cool tie dye. The staff was eager to help and offered great tips. There was a girl's birthday party going on and a couple Dead Heads with whom I tossed concert stories around. So all ages and reasons to be there! This place is super cute & roomy!We took the residents here for an outing- they loved it!It wasn't really hard to find, & it's located in a plaza with plenty of parking!The employees warmly greeted us & asked if we had any questions.We had put in our orders prior to, so this eliminated having to look at items, colors, etc.We did have people change colors, & shirt sizes- but the staff was very patient! I love the fact that they had several tables, & even tables for people who needed their own space.They showed each person examples different types of tie dying techniques, & began the process of showing them how to get which look they were aiming for.The way they did each technique step by step made it so easy! The only suggestion I have for this business is to maybe add a snack/soda machine so people don't have to go to a neighboring business if they get hungry or thirsty.The prices were kind of high if you buy the item you're tie dying there, but there's also the option of purchasing your own item & bringing it in!The experience was great, kudos to the helpful employees who were there that day! read more

What a cool place! I love that they were founded on the idea that they want you to be able to take your item home with you the same day you've made it! There's nothing worse than having to return for your project. The staff was very supportive. I'm a perfectionist and they reiterated many times that there was no possible way you could mess up. We heard about The Tie Dye Lab on Fox59 news. It sounded fun and I had two teens to entertain. For a new concept business, it's very well thought out! Upon entering the business, you go to the cash register, pick an item you wish to tie dye from the chalkboard list next to the register. Then, looking up at their examples on the walls, you choose up to three dye colors, which are included in the price of the item you have chosen (additional colors are $1.00 each) then you look to the next wall for examples of the designs. After picking the design you want to make, you put on a plastic, disposable apron and plastic gloves and a team member will take you to a dye station along with a simple instruction sheet on how to fold and rubber band your item to get the design you want. After you apply dyes, you let a team member know, who takes your item to process (wait time, rinsing and microwaving). During the short 20-30 minute wait, you can choose board games to play, or hang out in their lounge area or draw on their massive chalkboard. We opted to wait next door at Jack's Donuts ( do you think that storefront location was planned?) By the time we ate our donuts and milk, we walked back over and the shirts were done!!! Shirts are packed with instructions for washing (suggested that you wash your shirt no more than two hours later but we washed ours five hours later with no adverse effects that we could see). You are even given a small cup of detergent to wash your shirt with!! The entire process was a short 40 minutes. We loved how the shirts turned out, the prices were very reasonable and the teens asked to go back before we even left! I think this would be a great birthday party idea or team building event! read more

Super easy, yet awesomely engaging for all ages!

We love the Tie Dye Lab! We are repeat customers. I hadn't heard of them until my Robotics Club students wanted to make team shirts and mentioned The Tie Dye Lab. This is our third year making shirts with them. The kids have a blast! They are super organized. I don't know how they manage it, but they get everything sorted and set out for us, even label shirts with names so we're ready to go. I am NOT good at picking colors and they have always steered us in the right direction when we were lost and our shirts look fantastic. I go and let them run the show. They give the kids thorough instructions on how to create the look that the kids want and demonstrate and assist where needed. I'm used to the one being in charge and sometimes it's hard for me to let go, but they have a routine, a system and know what they're doing, so I always feel confident in what we're walking out with. Benefit of being the coach, my child gets to come with us even though he's not on the team. I told him it was Tie Dye Lab day and he was completely stoked. Four of us went to the lab and in total we made 3 shirts and one pillowcase which cost us $99. They are quite pricey but a fun experience for everyone. They had a large selection of colors and types of items to color but all are more expensive than what I've paid at other places. It took us about an hour and a half to do the whole process which was pretty reasonable. The woman helping us was extremely unhelpful in every step of the process. She had to ask me again what shirt I wanted even though it was clearly marked on my sheet. I was doing a simple red and white swirl and she never mentioned how much I needed to dye the red part. She told me to just not leave any white (which in the end only produced splotches of red rather than a continuous "swirl"). My younger cousin was confused on how to pattern the sections and the woman seemed annoyed with explaining the necessity of rotating colors. After coloring (and making sure there wasn't much bleed between sections) we waited about 15 minutes for the dye to set and played cards up front. We then moved on to washing our shirts. As I rinsed I noticed my white sections turning pink from the red run off. I asked how to stop the bleeding and the woman said she couldn't do anything about it. I flipped my shirt over to rinse the bottom and noticed a majority of the white was pink, thus indicating that it had been sitting in water and bleeding for a few minutes. I was able to wash out some of the pink but was shocked at how little red was on my shirt. I soaked every section in dye but should've been instructed to put more dye on the inside because I'm now left with more dots of red rather than a swirl with lots of pink bleed. The woman said she hoped more would come out once I washed it at home but there was nothing else she could do. Seeing as this place has been open for a while I assume they've ran into this problem before and would have some tips on how to make it better. I'm now left with a red and white shirt with barely any pattern to it. It's a cute place and very clean but customer service needs to get better. It's a fun one time thing but I can't foresee coming back to make a $30 shirt that doesn't turn out how I'm told it will be. read more
