Stopped here today for a late lunch. What a cute beach themed restaurant. This place is pretty big and could accomodate a large party. I ordered the Bourban Chcken Gyro with handcut fries and ice tea! The server was nice and friendly. The bourbon chicken was delicious and the fries were very good. The gyro was very full and had lettuce, tomato and onion with ziki sauce. It was served hot and fresh and had great flavor. I would highly recommend it if your ever in the Circleville Ohio area. read more

I'm typically in Circleville once or twice a year. My wife likes to attend a big quilt show at Ohio Christian University and I usually ride along. During a previous visit to Circleville, thanks to a Yelp recommendation, we discovered the Thirsty Parrot and loved it. Truth be known, a return visit to the Thirsty Parrot is my motivation to "ride along". My wife loved their bourbon chicken last time and had the same thing this time. I went with the gyro - available in several varieties, including traditional gyro meat or bourbon chicken. I had it with gyro meat and a small order of fries. The gyro was delicious and the small order of fries was an extremely generous portion. BTW - they've got some of the best fries I've had. We'll definitely be back next year. read more

While passing through Circleville (or "Roundtown" as the locals proudly call it), we needed a place to grab a bite. Being an Elite Yelper, I did what I always do--I opened Yelp to see what the locals were recommending. One of the top-rated spots was The Thirsty Parrot, so we decided to check it out. We arrived between the lunch and dinner crowds, so the place was nice and quiet. There was one customer enjoying a drink at the bar, and we were the only ones dining in. Our bartender, who also took care of our table, welcomed us with a smile and told us to sit wherever we liked. We grabbed a booth by the window and immediately noticed the fun atmosphere. Think Jimmy Buffett meets a tropical tiki bar, with colorful décor that makes you feel like you're on vacation instead of in central Ohio. The menu is pretty much what you'd expect from a neighborhood bar and grill--burgers, sandwiches, appetizers, and a few house specialties. Before we came, I'd noticed that the bourbon chicken gets mentioned over and over in Yelp reviews. Then I spotted something that caught my eye: a Bourbon Chicken Gyro. As a former chef, I'm always looking for the dish that's a little outside the norm, so that sealed the deal. The gyro comes in either a quarter-pound or half-pound size. I wasn't messing around, so I ordered the half-pound with lettuce, tomato, onions, and tzatziki sauce, plus a side of their hand-cut fries. My wife decided it sounded too good to pass up, so she ordered the quarter-pound version--just hold the onions--and we split the fries. When the food arrived, everything was fresh and piping hot. The bourbon chicken was tender, flavorful, and surprisingly delicious wrapped up in a gyro. It's not something you see every day, and it absolutely worked. The hand-cut fries were good too, although I would've liked them just a little crispier. That's a personal preference more than a complaint. Before we left, we had a chance to chat briefly with the owner, who thanked us for stopping in. Those little interactions always leave a lasting impression. Even though it was a slow time of day, it was easy to see why this place earns consistently good reviews. Friendly people, reasonable prices, and solid food are a recipe for success. If you're passing through Circleville and looking for a casual place with good food, friendly service, and a laid-back island vibe, put The Thirsty Parrot on your list. We have been visiting this establishment for years but usually do take out. My son has autism and was really wanting the bourbon chicken. They opened at 4PM and we entered at 4:08. There was one patron at the bar and we went to grab a booth far away to dine in. My son has a service dog (she is fully trained and has been on numerous cruises, flights, and goes to restaurants all over town). My husband entered with her and my son and immediatly the man behind the counter began making comments that he didnt want a dog in his restaurant. The waitress was nice and tried to explain that the dog was vested and a service dog but he was shaking his head and visibly not happy. I said we would just leave and he had a major attitude. Sad thing is the one customer who was there was smiling at her, obviously no one minded but him. He made several comments under his breath so we left. As I walked out I reminded him its Federal Law to allow the service dog and he yelled at me "your the one leaving". It was bad, my kids (12 and 18) were there and disappointed. Apparently this is the owner and he knows my husband they are acquaintances but he didn't even give us a chance. We ended up at EL Pedregal where they welcomed us all and the dog went under the table and never made a peep (like always). Time to find a new place for our bourbon chicken and burgers. read more

The Thirsty Parrot is an often forgotten about Circleville bar. It's location is pretty crappy. Right next to the tracks. It may be the most local of the local bars. The people are friendly and the drinks are stiff. It sits on Washington Street near some houses. It's right near a railroad track in an industrial area. You can say this bar is on the wrong side of the tracks. But is there a right side? It has a tropical theme. Appropriate for something tropical to drink. I had a tequila sunrise. This is probably about $5 or something like that. I'm not sure how much it was because I didn't have to pay. The couple next to me picked it up since I moved for them. Circleville's secret. A co-worker told me about this restaurant. It's tucked away in Circleville. It's definitely a local's place to eat and converse with friends. Pulling up after dark I was a bit concerned but then saw a couple my age walk into the restaurant. Once inside I was surprised. There were quite a few people and even someone we know. This has to be the cleanest restaurant I have eaten in quite some time. I ordered the bourbon chicken and wow! Really good. Our waiter asked me if I would like the onions on the side and surprisingly onion was really good sprinkled on top. It comes in a plastic container that you can take home which is good because it's so much food. It comes in a small size for $8 and a large size for $12 or $14 (I forget). I got the large size and have made 3 meals out of it. My husband got the burger and a side of fries. He said the burger was really good. The fries are definitely made at the restaurant with fresh potatoes. They are thin strips and the portion is HUGE. The only disappointment is that there is no beer on draft. But they do have bottled beer and mixed drinks. Overall: Very Clean, Great Atmosphere, Friendly Staff and Delicious Food. read more

Friday night and the parking lot was full. Must have stumbled on a winner, right? After all, the bourbon chicken came highly recommended. So my wife, daughter, and I placed our order and waited. Waitress said there might be a wait. No problem. The place was full, so I can understand a bit of a wait. An hour and a half later and still no food. What gives? It's only rice, chicken, and beans. We were told it was usually this busy on Friday nights. Understood. But how about provision for your anticipated Friday crowd? You've been around since 2010 your signs claim. Certainly this wasn't your first busy Friday nigh. I don't care how crowded the place was (most folks were drinking but not ordering food, i observed), it should never take an hour and a half to be served. On the way home with Subway now on the menu, we realized we just saved some money and will enjoy the meal in a much better, drunk-free atmosphere. We wont be back. read more

If you like every last drop of moisture cooked out of your burger, this is the place for you! Sat for 15 minutes at the bar waiting to place an order while the couple that owns the place BS'ed with the bartender. I was the only customer and everyone treated me like they just hit the lottery.
