We're here on business, so we called and spoke to the owner to convey that we are only dining for brunch if we can get our order prepared while we're on our way. See we were on a major time crunch, and excited to grab a bite at this restaurant. Owner said no problem - he understands, and that we can call when we are closer and place our order on the phone to save time. We called 3x- no answer. Then he finally answered and said just come and order in person it's not that busy. We arrive. Sit inside. And are ignored fully for about 10 minutes. No water- no greeting. I walk up to the owner and mention we are the ones that called and he said ok someone will be with you soon. I mention we're low on time and he says don't worry. Waited 10 more minutes. Finally we are aknowledged by Michael. Place our order. The owner said our food would be expedited but when we asked our server Michael he said he cannot do that. The 3 big groups that came in right before we did all had orders in. They said our food would take about 30 mins to prepare - mind you we've stressed left and right that we do not have a lot of time as we have a work meeting to attend to. It's seems like it's a regular occurrence these days when I'm in Palm Springs. Brunch at The Thirsty Palms. They have a nice patio both part of the restaurant as well across the sidewalk on the opposite site. Covered and there's air misters to help with the heat that's starting to come out. We always like the patio seating as it's perfect for a nice meal out and great for people watching. The vibe is always great and staff are alway so sweet. Of course with spring break starting, Palm Springs was lively. Loads of people walking around and as it was Sunday, brunch was happening everywhere. Getting a table has alway been easy for us even when it's busy. The last few time we always had the same waiter whom was a major doll. The sweetest and friendliest. Of course, alway have to start with the bottle of bubble with three juice options and fresh fruits. The price is great and it's worth it. You get a couple glass each for 22.00 which is not bad. Plus three juice of orange, cranberry and grapefruit with fresh berries to add. This was our first time having their sandwiches and burger as we would always have breakfast. The grilled chicken sandwich with mixed fried bell peppers and onions, lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, mozzarella and grilled sourdough bread. That serve with a side which I went with their seasoned fries. First off, it was massive. The chicken was tasty and juicy. Melted cheese with the fried peppers and onions was excellent. Then the thirsty smashed burgers with double Wagyu patties, yellow cheddar cheese, thick cut bacon, lettuce, tomatoes with fried peppers and onion with the thirsty sauce on a toasted Kaiser bun. Another massive burgers stabbed with a knife to keep it all in place. Served with a side salad, fruit or salad. Another tasty and juicy dish. It's messy as it's massive but in a good way. The food is alway excellent and amazing customer service. Staff are alway sweet and friendly. Both the owners, husband and wife duo are alway on site and quite friendly. Cute little restaurant located, right in the middle of downtown Palm Springs. The inside can get a little noisy, the outside is great for people watching. They had misters going, so it definitely wasn't too hot outside. My party of four had two different kind of schnitzels, and two different kinds of pizzas. All enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately, service was very slow. It took 25 minutes to get our drinks. The food came out rather quickly, but our waitress did not check on us once until we called for the check. It was a very busy Thursday night, with the street fair going on, and it looked like they had only two servers for both inside and outside. Our server was working her tail off, but everyone was trying to get her attention. They definitely need to add more servers for busy Thursday evenings!! read more

We're here for the weekend in Palm Springs, and today we ate a very heavy lunch. So, we were looking for a lighter dinner around 8 this evening and THE THIRSTY PALMS showed up in a list of suggested places. Schnitzel and a salad? Sounds good. Well, it ended up being very good indeed - the schnitzel (pork for me, chicken for her) was just outstanding, crisp, hot and light, with a real European flair to the breading and the sauces (Urs Wyler, the owner and chef, is Swiss). Our server was kind and attentive and also mixed my wife's cocktail, which she loved. We were well looked after. We sat outside, and enjoyed the passing parade of Palm Springs locals and tourists. Fresh!!! Stopped in at 10:30 on Monday and was seated and served right away. The owner (I think) was outside and he was super kind. My server was also quick and checked on me without being too much. He was really cool. It's super pretty inside, but I sat outside with the misters to people watch. I ordered the Caprese Avocado Toast with a side of hash browns and WOW!! Everything was super fresh. The toast was not soggy and it comes with a side salad, so anything that falls off the toast can still be easily eaten. I work outside and it's hard to find a meal that gives me more energy than drains me, but this is one of the best mid-day meals I've had. The hash browns were also super flavorful. Excellent place to get delicious, fresh food and drinks in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. Stopped in to watch a World Series game because they had a tv. Just not local stations so we had to leave. But before we did the charcuterie board happened! Quite a large serving of meats, cheese, olives, toast and nuts. Then there was a beer we had never tasted before, Cali Creamsicle. Who knew! It was refreshing and delicious. I've been wanting to check out this spot for a while--the aesthetics alone drew me in, and they're undeniably charming. We decided to come by for brunch and were greeted promptly upon arrival. We chose to dine inside to enjoy the ambiance, which was inviting and fun, with neon signage and vibrant wall vinyl setting a lively tone. Service overall was great. We were seated quickly, waters and menus came right away, and since it was brunch, we opted for a couple of mimosas. After reading about the restaurant's Swiss culinary background, I was genuinely expecting a more elevated and thoughtfully executed meal. I ordered the Thirsty Breakfast with bacon. Unfortunately, when it arrived, it felt uninspired. The bacon was nicely cooked--crispy and well done--but the rest fell short. The scrambled eggs were standard, and while the hash browns looked crispy on the outside, they were soggy once cut into. They were also heavily seasoned with a spice blend that leaned noticeably spicy. I couldn't quite place the flavors, but I do wish this had been noted on the menu or that the server had offered a choice between seasoned or unseasoned, as it wasn't what I was expecting. One additional moment that caught me off guard was noticing Fox News playing on the TV as we were leaving. This made me pause and reflect on the atmosphere the restaurant is trying to create. Not to turn this into a political discussion, but it felt out of place in a setting that otherwise seemed designed to be an escape--somewhere to relax and disconnect from the constant news cycle. Overall, while the service and ambiance were strong, the food and a few atmosphere choices missed the mark for me. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return or recommend this spot moving forward. read more

I am not one to leave an unkind review. It's not in my nature but I'm feeling so incredibly unseen and hurt tonight that I have to leave an honest review. I wanted to meet a friend before seeing a show at The Plaza. I arrived with no reservation and was turned away. I offered to sit at the bar, it was just two of us and I was told no. I stood at the front to text my friend as an older couple arrived to ask to be seated. They were asked if they had reservations by a younger man/employee and they said no. The older gentleman who turned me away pulled the younger employee aside and they had a hushed talk. The younger man walked away and said you deal with it. The older gentleman escorted the older couple to the bar seats I had pointed to earlier. I said to him, I offered to sit at the bar and you told me there were no seats. He said yes that's what I said. I moved a little further out to communicate with my friend again via text and watched as he sat another couple outside under the awning on the patio. Again, this was never offered to me even as I stood in the rain, waiting for my friend in clear view. I'm so deeply hurt by this experience and will do my best to not let it interfere with the wonderful evening we have planned. This is a small town. I'm local and I love to support local. This was a very unfortunate experience. I should add...I asked my friend when he arrived to go ask if he could be seated (without a reservation) and he in fact was offered patio seating immediately. Food was generously portioned, wine by the bottle is a great deal, and honestly I think I had the best schnitzel I've had in years. The owners and servers were so personable and diligent. We were in town for an event, we came in a group of 7. Such a cute place right off 111 in charming down town Palm Springs where all the action is. The staff was so friendly and the inside is super cute too. The food was good we got breakfast (pancake, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit). My sister got the salad, the other sister got chicken and french fries. One of us got a burger. The other one of our group got a chicken sandwich and the grilled cheese sandwich. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our waiter was really cute and the owners seemed really nice too. I think they were there. We sat outside and the weather was spectacular. I explained to our waiter and to the owners that we were in town for an event for our Daughter and that she won her championship and they were so kind that they comped her food to celebrate her. This wasn't expected, but it was so appreciated. It's rare people do things like this, we were very grateful and taken off guard. It was a really positive experience. Over time I've had their pizza, lamb chops, and pasta, each one excellent, but today's surf and turf might have been my favorite yet. Everything is cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and served with genuine care. What really makes this place stand out is the service. The staff are always friendly, attentive, and create a relaxed casual environment that still feels special. They know the menu inside and out, which really helps my wife, who is vegan, find great options without feeling limited. We decided to try out this restaurant as we are always looking for something new in the hope of find an excellent restaurant in Palm Springs. I have to say that we were not disappointed. We had a reservation and were seated immediately by the owner (Urs) who was very funny and welcoming. We sat outside on a very busy Saturday night and it was fun to watch all of the happy tourists walking by. I ordered the salmon, my partner ordered the hamburger and our friend had the watermelon salad. We all loved our entrees! The hamburger (I tried it) was excellent, the salmon was perfect. It came with rice and broccoli and everything was perfectly cooked. Our friend absolutely loved his salad and he can be a little like Mikey if you are old enough to know who that is. Our waiter was Eric. He had us in stitches laughing. He has a line and comment for everything and we absolutely adored him. His service was also excellent. Cute place! I had this on my list to try first when I landed. Arrived around 1145 and was super excited to try the chicken schnitzel as I was eyeing it for months. The website is misleading as it shows it's available on the lunch and dinner menu. I was given a breakfast/brunch menu at 1145. I would assume this would be a lunch menu since it's lunch time. I asked my server for a lunch menu and he said there isn't one, you can't get the schnitzel till dinner. I was so disappointed, I actually almost decided to go somewhere else. I decided just to get the blt since I was starving from traveling. It was good, nothing exceptional. Not sure next time I'll be back to try what I really came for. I have to give credit to this restaurant being one of few "kid friendly" restaurants in the downtown Palm Springs area. I know, I should be thankful there was even one place that served food for kids on the strip, but really I just wanted a place I could feed them simple comfort food. Lucky for us, this restaurant had comfort food with a delicious twist! The pizza was delicious. It tasted very homemade and super fresh. The chicken shnitzel was incredible and my girls loved them! They said it was the best chicken nuggets they tasted! The pasta was also very tasty! Even if you don't have kids, I highly recommend this restaurant. I was surprised it didn't have a long wait.
