Daniel is the best at what he does! He did my wedding dress and then several bridesmaids dresses since then. His work is flawless and I love his ability to customize to fit a brides vision. When I first tried on my wedding dress at the boutique, it sat on me differently bc it was clipped up so when it was fit to my size, the open back I loved initially didn't look the way it did when I tried it on. Daniel helped me get that vision back and made my dress exactly what I wanted! He also did my bustle and it was so easy for my bridesmaids to do on my wedding day. I was sent to The Tailor Shop by a friend. I asked to have a simple cloth patch stitched on a heavy textile jacket. He said he could do it but the fee was $50.00. I almost laughed but figured he was a master tailor and it would turn out good. The day I returned he said it was not ready. I returned the following day at his request and still not done. He asked if I could wait five minutes as they were "finishing it up". He then went in back, hand stitched the patch on (crooked, I might add) then brought it out. The patch did not have many stitches through it and was poorly done in my mind. I could have gone to jo Anne's fabrics and bought the material and done it myself for 6 bucks. Disappointed to say the least, especially for $50.00. Perhaps he's a master tailor and a pleasant man but it appears that small things like this are a waste of his time. First off I go here at 9 because that's the hours listed online. I get here at 920. No one is here. Look at the door which also says they open at 9. Call the store it says text him and he replies we open at 10.... Ok we'll fix your hours on the door at least. So I go get coffee come and come back. All I needed was to get measured for a tux. He said it's be 10 dollars. I pull out cash. Then he starts asking me a million questions about where I'm getting my tux from which i don't know I was just told by the groom go here and get measured. He then says since he's not providing the tux he can't measure me. Completely wasted an hour of my time. Don't go here. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would! Daniel was amazing and saved my dress for my big day! I picked my dress up from another alterations store a week before I had to leave for my wedding (the wedding is in Texas). I had a bad experience with the women and the dress was falling and slipping down and the she just kept telling me that it was fine and to use sticky tape to keep it in place. I emailed Daniel at The Tailor Shop asking for help and if they would look at my dress. He emailed back the same day telling me to bring it in that Monday. When I got there he looked at my dress and told me what was wrong with it and why I wasn't getting any support in the dress. He just made me feel so at ease that my dress was in the right hands. He took my dress that day and had it back to me in two days! When I went to try my dress on it fit perfectly and wasn't falling down! I'm in the Marine Corps I went to drop off a dress blue pants to get it alterated before inspection (I gained weight ever since bodybuilding). Anyways this Daniel guy sized me up and did an amazing job getting it fitted at a fast time, saving me from an ass chewing. I have tried a number of so called "tailors" over the past 15 years, but none have come close to Daniel at The Tailor Shop. His work is impeccable, and he truly cares about the customer. With that said, consider this: I purchased my first tailored shirt from The Tailor Shop during the summer of 2004 and have bought over 60 shirts since. I haven't even bothered to go anyplace else given that his shirts were "perfect" for me. In that ten-year period, it's hard to tell the shirts I bought back then from the ones I continue to buy now. Again, out of over 60 shirts, they all still look practically new; and that's no exaggeration. I have not lost one, and I can still wear them all in spite of the fact that I have gained 40-plus pounds. Also, I still have all of the slacks that I have bought from The Tailor Shop since 2006; and with a few alterations because of the 40-plus pounds, they all look great too! The Tailor Shop Inc. expertly altered my new McQueen blazer. The blazer is plaid, which means that the alterations have to match the overall pattern. I had it taken in and the sleeves shortened, which involved moving the buttons and hiding existing button holes. This was the first time that I used their services, and I am sold. Words cannot describe the relief and joy I have felt working with Daniel. I brought my Jim Hjelm wedding dress into his shop, two weeks before my wedding, because the boutique I bought it out butchered the alterations. I knew immediately that not only would Daniel fix what the boutique had messed up, but would make my dress the piece of art it was meant to be. He quickly identified the main issues, and offered solutions to everything. He truly takes pride in his work. If you are looking for a tailor to take measurements, don't go here. I went in to ask for measurements for a Sari that a friend of mine is having made in New York for her wedding. He told me he does not do measurements for gowns done outside of the shop. I explained that it was being made in another city and offered to bring some pieces that he could tailored and still he said no. For a service that wouldn't cost anything to him but probably five minutes of his time and would have resulted in him receiving future business, the adamant refusal to assist struck me as unreasonable. read more

I was charged $50 to fix a tiny whole in a pair of wool slacks... I figured the ridiculous cost would at least yield me some good results... I was wrong. I was told there would be a small seam, well the seam is about 8 inches long and it isn't even parallel to the seam on the side of the slacks. Looks like I'm gonna throw away the slacks like I did the $50. I even went and got a second opinion of the work and "speechless" was the word to describe what was done to my slacks. Long story, stick around til the end! I recently took a dress here to be altered for my wedding day. I dropped my dress off 10 days before my wedding. This was not a traditional wedding dress, the skirt was a single layer of embroidered tulle over top a white sheath with leg slits on both sides. The alterations were really expensive, but only because the dress could only be shortened from the waist due to special embroidery at the bottom. I called 3 days before my wedding to make sure everything was on track only to find he wrote the wrong date on his ticket (there was nothing on mine) but he assured that he would have the dress ready on my wedding date. I actually went out and bought a traditional wedding dress the day before my wedding because of this. He did have my dress finished, but I didn't try it on at the shop because it was my wedding day and I was very busy, plus I already bought the other dress. Since the dress I took here was not a traditional wedding dress, i figured I could wear it another time....2 weeks later I decided to try on my dress only to find that the underlay was shortened so much that the leg slits expose my private area! I wasted $300+ here only for my dress to be ruined by a lack of attention to detail. read more

I have had some excellent experiences here having my husbands and my jeans hemmed while keeping the original bottoms. The last pair of jeans we dropped off with the usual request to keep the original bottoms was ignored and we ended up with a bottom hem that definitely did NOT use the original bottoms. Paying for premium jeans only to have the bottoms ruined is not my idea of good work. I will give them one more shot, but if they screw up again, I will have to take my business elsewhere read more

Daniel was a true master tailor who took a magnificent dress I owned in black and made it in shades of blue. It is my wedding dress and superb in quality and detail. It was exactly what I wanted after many months and money of dealing with a local Gainesville dressmaker. Daniel also made my future husband's tie and pocket scarf from the same fabric. The coordination was unmatchable. He truly is a master tailor and I would drive 4 hours round trip from Gainesville any time to have him create his masterpieces---just visit his shop and compare the superb quality of his designs and products before going anywhere else. I was totally overcharged by Daniel to get a simple unlined casual dress hemmed. I was told it was that price because it was for that exact same stitching and although I was hesitant about the price quote, I paid it because I thought that the cost might be worth it. However, when I got the dress it wasn't even the same stitching. I spoke to the woman who did the actual alteration because Daniel wasn't there and she said they use that stitch because their customers like it but it was definitely a simpler stitch and not a better quality to be worth the price I was charged. AND the dress was still too long which causes me extra time to have to go back. When asked about being overcharged, I was told that I needed to speak up before the work is done and not after. She said she'd ask Daniel to give me a discount for next time but I will not be going back. They might be worth taking a chance on for bridal gowns and tuxedos, but if anyone needs simple alterations, I'd look elsewhere. My alteration cost more than what I paid for my dress. My dry cleaner was going to take more than a week to fix a few of my slacks and skirts. I went to this shop to have some alterations done for some of my nicest work clothes. My experience was less than mediocre and felt very transactional. The customer service was terrible. The people in there are not personable or friendly, and didn't even seem happy. I was definitely overcharged (I ended up comparing prices after the fact) and it was going to take about 10 days for minor alterations. I paid for everything in cash when I dropped off my clothes. When I went to pick up my clothes, they had trouble locating them, and were not able to track my payment. When all was said and done, I was less than satisfied with the new lengths of the 2 pairs of pants I brought in. I was hoping for quick, affordable alterations, and it turned into quite a frustrating ordeal for us. In the future I will definitely plan ahead to use my (convenient and fairly-priced) dry cleaner for a more favorable experience. Definitely would NOT RECOMMEND! read more
