Buyer beware.... I brought my dress here and $400 dollars later I picked up a dress that was not wearable. At first Tracy was to add some fabric in the back to make it fit better. She did this and I was less than thrilled with the look but she said it was the only way to do it. The hemming was fine. I agreed it was ok but she had to take up the shoulder now that the dress fell lower. At the second fitting I arrived after she was to take up the shoulder and she had played with the back again to try to make it more aesthetically pleasing and created a mess. Of course, the day before I got a phone call with her explaining how much time and care she took and it took six hours, etc., which was ridiculous. I could sew better than she did on this dress. Of course this was the last time I could be there because I was leaving the next morning at 6 AM for my son's wedding. While I was there, a gentleman came in who was double booked on my appointment at 3 o'clock and she took him first to get his trouser legs pegged all the while I'm sitting there distraught about my dress. Finally, I got up and left and took the dress. I can't believe she was looking for even more money than what I gave her and I still couldn't wear the dress. Extremely overpriced, and she guilts you into paying her extra. There is no way she spent the time she said she did! I had to find a dressmaker in Nashville to fix the dress and after five phone calls finally found someone that would squeeze me in so that I don't look like a train wreck at my son's wedding. I wonder if the reviews I read about this woman were real or just posted by her. Completely unprofessional only takes cash. Honestly, I hope she reads his review. The last thing I needed was undo stress before my son's big day. Honestly, she should refund me my money. read more

Tracy was very helpful and communicated with me very well through the entire process of getting my wedding dress altered. My dress has NINE layers and it was quiet the process. She informed me up front that the price may increase a bit depending on how much of the lace she needed to adjust for the hem. She ended up needing to do 3 bustles and cut me a deal for that. On my last fitting I was nervous about one inside layer that was still catching on my shoe just ever so slightly, I thought it would be fine but she insisted on making it perfect for me, so they are going to fix that with no charge and will have it ready in two days. I cut it wayyy too close bringing my dress in for alterations less than 45 days before my wedding, thank God she took me in! Would absolutely recommend them for anyone. If she can handle my crazy dress she can sew just about anything I'm sure! read more

Beaches alterations is family owned and run, plus has great reviews so I decided to give them a try. So far I have taken 2 bridesmaids dresses to get altered in length and they were PERFECT! The owners even steamed the dresses for me. They communicated effectively on when I needed to pick up my dress and made sure it was before my events. The only reason I'm giving the 4 stars out of 5 is because I wish they would have more set pricing, although I know it varies on dresses. However, both dresses I've brought in have been pretty basic chiffon bridesmaid dresses that just needed to be shortened. I paid $58 for the first and $85 for the second. I also wish they would accept major credit cards. They only accept cash which is very inconvenient at times. Otherwise they are great! Would definitely recommend! read more

This place is AMAZING!! If you want top-notch customer service, honest opinions, someone you can trust, and beautiful work, then don't hesitate to use Beaches Alterations!! Tracy and her husband are incredible! My fiance and I planned an elopement out of town about 3 months out and I struggled to find a wedding dress that I liked. I finally found one about 2 weeks before I was supposed to leave and needed it hemmed. I was freaking out, because I know most places take MONTHS to get a wedding dress altered. But I called Beaches Alterations and Tracy got me in that same day for my fitting. She worked on her only day off (Sunday) all day long to get my dress done for me in time and actually got it done even earlier than she originally said! Tracy also gave me her personal cell phone number and communicated with me the entire time about my preferences, updates, or questions she had. She was also VERY honest and SO sweet! She didn't try to get extra money out of me and was zero pressure about anything. She originally was going to do an easy hem on the bottom of my dress for the sake of time and so that it didn't cost too much. But she called me back the next day and told me that her husband had looked at the dress and thought that they should do the more difficult hem so that the beautiful lace-work on the bottom of the dress stayed in tact. She told me she didn't want me to think she was trying to get more money from me and that it was 100% my decision. She talked me through it, what my options were, and let me choose. And I'm SO glad I went with the more difficult/time-consuming/more expensive hem, because the dress turned out BEAUTIFUL!!!! I had to have a formal dress shortened. Of course it wasn't a simple cutting and hemming job because of the was it was lined. The dress had to be practically taken apart, then cut, then put together again! So while they were at it, I asked it be shaped a bit more like a mermaid silhouette. They would have it done in a week! So, when I went back to try it on before picking up, it was PERFECT! So relieved and happy, as it was the first time I was using this shop. I needed a bridesmaid's dress hemmed and taken out, and didn't even get the dress from the shop where I ordered it until a month before the wedding. I called Beaches Alterations on a Sunday when they were closed and left a voice mail with my phone number and an explanation of what I needed done. I never got a call back, so I called the next day and the owner (and I think sole employee) picked up right away and set up an appointment with me. When I went in, she was very open about her prices and what changes would definitely need to be made, and what changes might need to be made. After my first fitting she took the dress out, I came back in for a second fitting so that she could assess how much length to remove, and exactly a week later she was done and ready for me to come and get my dress. I paid a total of $80. This is the only time I've had an article of clothing altered, so I don't know where that ranks as far as affordability, but for her to take the dress out and then hem three layers of material, I think the price was very fair. The only reason I gave a four instead of a five is because I had to call back a second time to get my appointment set up, and the shop is a bit run down. The owner is a very sweet lady, however, and she did great work at a good price. I would definitely recommend Beaches Alterations. read more

Im giving them 1 star due to my overall experience with Tracy(the owner) for my WEDDING DRESS!! I found them through good reviews online thinking I could save some money on my wedding dress alterations since I purchased my wedding dress online with the consideration that the dress needed alterations for length and sides. I spoke to Tracy over the phone before my first fitting back in May - she assured me she knew what she was doing, that she had been doing wedding dress alterations for over 20 years and in that instance, made me feel assured that she would take care of me. She had me come in for my first fitting within that next week in June. She asked me when the wedding was - which is October 16th 2021-of this year. One of the first things I mentioned to her which was my biggest concern about the entire process of the wedding dress fitting was my concern for weightloss and the overall fit before the big date since I was on a major journey of loosing 15 pounds before my wedding day. So, long story short - she took my sides alterations at my first fitting back in June knowing full well I was trying to loose weight. Going into my bridal fittings, I didn't know which order these fittings she had split up for me should have been in. I trusted her going into this letting her know - I didn't have my mom or my maid of honor or my bridesmaids to bring with me to the fittings since they all live out of town and mom has passed away and that I was on my own - I trusted her to have my best interest and help guide me accordingly but instead, throughout my overall experience - I started having lots of delayed responses from her, less concern for my dress and how the dress would fit me and how I felt in it but instead became about making sure she was booking me for my fittings and was able to charge me for the work she had done after each fitting without really the concerns for my feedback. Lookingback at the entire experience, I felt that I was having to argue with Tracy to get the looks I was intending for -for my wedding day lol. Perfect example: I wanted to bustle my gown because there was some extra length in the back after she had made the alterations for length because of the style of the dress(mermaid trumpet dress) and instead of helping me create a bustle - she wanted to argue with me that my dress didn't need a bustle and then when I asked her about the different styles of options of bustle for my dress - she had absolutely no clue about the different bustles!! Hard to believe this when she has been working on wedding gown alterations for over 20 years. My last fitting - which was the beginning of september 2021 this year. she had me try on the dress and just like I had feared, the dress was about a size and a half TOO BIG and instead of being honest and helpful and trying to help me fix the situation - she was so quick to tell me that the dress fit JUST FINE!! and at this time, she would now like to collect the rest of my balance and see her next appointment. The entire overall experience felt so disingenuous to me, as a BRIDE and to all of my fellow brides - this is NOT an experience you want as part of your big day. My last fitting, my cousin who traveled all the way from Tampa to be there for my last fitting to learn how to bustle the back - she hardly even acknowledged that my cousin was there and even text me before the appointment that she didn't need to come that i could learn the bustle and to do it myself..I said "now how am i supposed to bustle my own dress when im wearing it?" then throughout my appointment while I was still wearing my dress and talking about the overall fit- has her next appointment come in and ready for her fitting and ready to close my tab! It is now less than 30 days before my wedding and I now have my wedding dress in the hands of a different seamstress that was referred to me to realter the top and sides of my dress. My new seamstress suggests taking off 2 inches off from the back to make the necessary adjustments for my gown to fit correct on me now. Now has become almost an entire journey with my wedding dress. During all of these fittings - Tracy did the alterations for a couple of my fiancé's suit jackets and had the sleeves lengthened longer and did good work in good time frame. Charged him $100 for 2 jackets length alterations. Overall, I wish she was more honest and genuine with me throughout my entire experience. I had 3 fittings with her - she makes you pay by each fitting and whichever area she will be working on, she did increase the price for my sides and lengths throughout the time she was working on my gown and would let me know via text from when she quoted me at the fittings so I ended up paying more than I had intended going - spending more money on alterations than the dress itself lol into also with adding the bustle & padding for bra cups - again, this review is purely based on my experience as a bride with my wedding gown. read more

If you're looking for an excellent seamstress/tailor here at the beaches, look no further! Beaches Alterations has everything--kind and experienced owners, fair prices, and a great location in the Marshalls shopping center, Jacksonville Beach. My wedding dress was made overseas and, in spite of sending the dressmaker my precise measurements, the dress arrived partially damaged and entirely too big for my petite frame. The dressmaker also left the bow unattached and the corset back had only satin loops--nothing with which to lace it up! Based on their excellent reviews, I called Tracy and her husband at Beaches Alterations. Mr. Nguyen instantly made an appointment for me the very next day. Upon arrival, they worked quickly and skillfully to help fix the many problems that plagued this dress. Tracy also assured me that she would be able to find a satin lace to string through the corset loops, and she did--it was absolutely perfect! I only needed two fittings after the initial fitting, just to make sure I wouldn't trip on the hem. There was no extra charge for the additional fittings; Tracy just wanted to be absolutely certain that the length of the skirt was perfect, and it is! I'm so very thankful and overjoyed that the Nguyens went above and beyond to give me the dress of my dreams!
