Be careful of the ladies at Lee's! I brought in a top for a simple alteration: shorten the hem and move some buttons. I was quoted $20 ( which I thought was a lot ) as I was told the hem was curved at the back. Fair enough. I gave them my card. It was swiped. I signed- STUPIDLY not checking the bill. I was charged over $44!!! Wow!!!! Scammed!!!! I only discovered it when I was going through my credit card statement. When I collected the top, I pointed out that I had been overcharged. ( I thought it was a genuine error.) I told them they had quoted me $20. They denied it- I was basically called a liar. Wow!!! Great relationship building for a first time customer! When I said I had learned a valuable lesson - definitely worth $20- and that I would NEVER return- they were quite complacent. Later the owner called and offered me $10 off the next time I came in. The guy acted pretty much like a jerk. I lost my ticket and he refused to even look for the 5-6 shoes I'd left w him. Finally he found em after he could see I wasn't leaving. All he had to do was clean and stretch em. Neither were done at all well. A huge waste of my time and money ($60). I took three tops to have the bottom and sleeves shortened,THEY did a good job.Took two more tops to have the same thing done,They pinned them just like before. When I picked them up, the sleeves were shortened to my elbows. I said you pinned it,what happened? She didn't know,,,,She told me they could fix one of them.The top was blue they put black sleeves on my shirtit looked bad.She was hugging me telling me how sorry she was.Would not refund my money,maybe thats why they wanted payment in advance.I would never go back. read more

This is the WORST place to get alterations done. They rushed my fitting and didn't even help me zip up my dress properly, they safety pinned it shut so no surprise they took the dress in way too much. I asked the lady to take the bust about half an inch and she obviously wasn't listening and took the entire bodice-waist and bust in almost three inches! It's a nightmare, especially because my dress is for my daughter's wedding on Sunday and they gave me my ruined dress on Wednesday. Needless to say my daughter and I are in panic mode due to this whole ordeal. This is a HUGE disappointment and definitely a frustrating event. My best advice:don't go here. They don't listen to you and care more about rushing through things than listening to their customers. Did I mention they never offered me to try it on when I picked it up? They said it'll fit fine. That should have tipped me off that they screwed it up. Never making this mistake of going here again! read more

This is the second prom dress that needed alterations (last year we went to another tailor/seamstress) but we decided to go to Lee's because it was very close to home and had a few good reviews that recommended their work AND their prices. Well we will DEFINITELY recommend Lee's to others and use them in the future. We arrived without an appointment and had a "fitting" on the spot. The man (owner/worker? not really sure) pinned the dress and made sure he was clear on the length and where it was to "sit" compared to the floor. My daughter's dress needed to be taken up at the bottom (she's petite at 5'1" and gowns are generally made for 5'10" models) [she wanted it to "sweep" the ground while being slightly longer in the back" & it was taken up exactly to where she asked them to pin it], taken up at the shoulders, and taken in from the waist down (the entire length of the gown on both sides). Basically they had to take it from a size 3 to a size 1. They did a fantastic job and it only cost $72. The dress was perfect! We were extremely pleased and she looked great (I am going to add a photo). They have regular shop hours (no appointment necessary) and accept credit cards. Lee's is conveniently located on San Jose Blvd in Mandarin at the corner of Kori Road -- at Big Lots/Bubbles Car Wash/across from Kmart/Zaxbys). They also give you a printed receipt with the prices clearly stated (so there are no "surprise" extra costs at pickup) and payment is due at pickup. read more

In one week they altered a full-sequined two piece dress for me. It looks like it was hand made for me. A bit pricey, but for the amount of work (hem, taking in skirt, shortening drapes on top) on a full sequin dress, I can't complain. When items cost a lot to begin with, I'm happy to pay to make sure they fit properly. read more

GO ELSEWHERE!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! Prior to Mr Lee's wife running this alterations shop it was a great place. Since she has 'taken over' a couple of months ago, this alterations shop has taken a turn for the WORST! The work has been absolutely terrible and the timeline is substantially slower. I won't even get pants hemmed here anymore. The service has gotten worse AND it takes 3x longer! I own a clothing line and spent over $3000 last year alone in alterations and sent MULTIPLE clients to this place. I am DISGUSTED at the way she runs this shop, speaks to customers (in broken English) and treats people terribly who spend uber amounts of money there. She figured since I spent so much money the last few years that she could DOUBLE my pricing. I advised her that is the opposite of what should happen in business, but she would rather lose customers because of her greed instead of being open to discuss a possible price increase. I guess she doesn't understand that there are PLENTY of alterations places in Jacksonville. Their loss, not mine. read more

The person who wrote the review below mine, MUST be talking about a different alteration place because Lee and his wife do the BEST job with alterating literally everything and anything you need! I have been coming to this place since I was about 6 years old... I am now 22 and still refuse to go anywhere else. They have altered every school uniform since kindergarten, as well as countless casual dresses and skirts, and formal dresses too! Plus, I've had several pieces of clothing that I needed altered by the next day and they are always willing to go out of their way to make sure they have it ready for you whenever you need it. They make sure whatever you need alterated is the way you want it, and ask you some deciding factors to help you get the perfect fit with jeans, dresses, skirts, etc. They are even helping my mom reupholster her chairs!
