This little gem is the greatest place to go to have your Alterations. The two young ladies that work there, no exactly what they are doing and when you go in just listen to them. They will tell you exactly what needs to be fixed and how it needs to be done. I have went to them several times, and they are always on time, everything turns out perfect and they are just absolutely wonderful to work with.I will continue to use them and they will be the only place I will go to for my Alterations. i searched for several companies to alter my dress for mother of the groom in March of 2024. The fabric was difficult to work with and I had the dress taken in and hemmed and they did a fabulous job. Terrible experience today after being a loyal customer for 4+ years - clerk refused to accept our alterations without an appt. (we were advised after our first visit that all future needs did not require one, and they have not until today). We offered to wait, but that was also a no - after multiple trips from Avondale to the beach and back again, we will not be returning. Thankfully, there are other and much closer options. obviously we will not be recommending them to our friends and neighbors again either. read more

Went to get a very small "mermaid tail blanket" get sowed together for my daughter(7 years old) and they wanted $60!!! to do it! 60, for 6 very small pieces of fabric...... Would take them probably 20 minutes to do, tops. And that was after I explained her best friend got it for her in August(3 months ago) for her bday and that my sewing machine(passed down from family) doesn't have a power cord.... The lady told me to find some little old lady down the street then⁉ What a rip-off, for a 7 year old girl and it being the holiday season. This kind of act will stop me from ever going here..... I called to schedule an alteration appointment for my wedding dress. I let them know that the zipper is about 1 inch from zipping in the back, and I just need to have a little bit of room put into the rib cage. The first thing they asked me was "am I on a diet and when I plan to lose the weight by." I never told them I was planning on losing weight for the wedding, and I felt like it was so offensive to assume that my body is the problem, and not the dress. Such poor customer service, and I would not recommend calling this place. read more

I had my wedding gown altered here. It took me months to find the best place to go. I asked around, getting recommendations for several places, but Sew True was the name that came up most. I called, went in for a consultation, and was SO pleased with the service and the honesty in pricing. My dress was very ornate, heavily beaded, with several (maybe a dozen) layers or silk tulle and a fitted bodice. I was very hesitant to trust anyone with the dress, as it was expensive, and the stakes for perfection were high. Sew True was able to shorten the dress, add cups into the bodice, shorten the shoulder straps, and add supports in to the zipper at the lower back. At each fitting, I was given an itemized list of updated pricing and the staff were very clear about the cost, which was competitive. Planning a wedding is stressful and I was worried about my dress but Sew True was so professional and efficient that I was able to cross the dress of my list of stressors. The staff even recommended a great dry cleaner to press my dress before the wedding! I would never go anywhere else to get alterations as long as Sew True is in business. read more
