We love Sushi. Today we found ourselves looking for a new spot to try, when we came across the Sushi Bar. Reviews looked pretty good. So we made our way over. Restaurant is located in a strip mall, ticket away in the inner corner. Parking is great, and it's centrally located on the corner of Galloway and Sunset. The restaurant itself is pretty small and only has seating available at the sushi bar. Definitely a great takeout spot. But we figured we would give dining in a try. We were so absolutely pleased with the decision. The sushi rolls all have pretty unique combos that include mixes. We hadn't thought of before. Like guava, cream cheese, and Salmon. We ordered three rolls and a couple of cokes and made it out for under 50 bucks. Definitely a good value, a good portion of food, and incredible taste. Best of all was the service. The dude behind the bar has a cool vibe to him and made good conversation with us while he was prepping. The waiter was Cool too. Overall, a five star experience a five star meal, and a five star value. Will definitely be back on the regular. read more

I flippin love this place dude. Boyfriend took me here once and I've NEVER had better sushi than this. Their food is always fresh and delicious and the chef makes everything in front of you. Service: All the chefs are super amazing and great to talk to, they'll leave you be if your not big into talking, and if you are, they're open to having conversation and being engaging. The server, which I've only seen one who's always there when I come by, is also a great person to have a conversation with and very quick to help you order. Food: I can not STRESS enough how good the food is. I've tried about 4 different rolls here so far, recently eating a roll called Mellanie(??) (I don't remember but picture in the review) as a to go order that was recommended by the server. It is super yummy and fresh. Honestly it's tied with Alex 2 Roll for me. (Which is also delicious) Don't even worry about cleanliness and freshness because both are VERY present in the resteraunt. The chef always cleans his station after serving a roll before continuing a new one. He is constantly washing his hands during his cooking. And the ingredients are always in front of you to see as well if you feel the need to nitpick. Overall: Best sushi I've ever eaten, service is EXCELLENT, cleanliness is an A+. Best place for affordable and delicious sushi. I've been coming here for maybe 8 years now. I moved to Los Angeles a year ago but every time that I come to Miami, I get sushi here with my sister or my mom. It's become a ritual for us, it's our very special spot for a reason. We recommend the Lucky roll, Sexy Mama roll, Manny2 roll, and maybe the Squints if you're feeling adventurous. The Lucky is our top favorite though. They're fast and we also love picking up the sushi and eating it wherever we go, even if we're just going to go home to watch an episode of Ted Lasso or something. read more

Every Friday is my tio baby day, and I love it! The sushi rolls served here are creative, savory, and fresh. I always order the same two rolls: the Tio Baby and the Michelle. I like them made rice-less so you can really taste the sushi. The ginger dressing and ginger salad are key. I also tried the ram roll, and I was pleasantly satisfied by how good it was. Their food speaks for itself, and they consistently go above and beyond for their customers. I think they currently only offer takeout. Came here for lunch and I was so disappointed. It's right by work and I was hoping to find a nice sushi joint nearby that I can get takeout every now and then. I'm not a sushi snob by any means. I'm a simple person to please, but this time the sushi was probably worse than what you get at Publix. Heck, Publix sushi peeps are rockstars in comparison. First off, the rice was cold. Not room temperature, but cold and hard as if they just took it out of the fridge and didn't bother to make fresh rice, which, come on... is sushi 101! I showed up 30 minutes after they opened so they can't use the excuse that I showed up at the end of the day (which is still not an excuse for a restaurant that only does sushi). Not only was it cold but it was very under seasoned. No rice vinegar detected. I don't enjoy cooked fish or tempura shrimp in my sushi so I ordered a sunset roll and salmon roll. Maybe this is where I went wrong as some places use fried food to disguise the poor quality. Dress it up and poor unfortunate souls won't notice. I was given "spicy" mayo that just tasted like mayo (I mean how do you get mayo and Sriracha wrong?) and a cheap Chinese takeout flavorless low sodium soy sauce! How do you serve sushi without Kikkoman soy sauce? The soy sauce is used to bring out the flavor of the fish. I'm not the type of person that slathers my sushi in spicy mayo. If it's not part of the roll, I don't add it. In this case I was desperately trying to make this roll edible and didn't even have that satisfaction. Sooo leftover hard, cold, and flavorless rice, cheap ass soy sauce, and flavorless spicy mayo. Can't comment on the sashimi because I couldn't taste it. I guess it was fine?? I have never not finished a roll, but these were not something worth plowing through. Super bland and super sad. Genuinely feel ripped off. Giving it two stars because they were nice people and I'm still alive and not dying of food poisoning. read more

I've been wanting to check out this spot for a while now and I'm glad I did because the sushi was truly amazing. I got the Delilah roll which comes with salmon, cream cheese, guava and avocado. The roll is just bursting with flavors. Not to mention the ingredients are very fresh. I requested the roll to be made with less rice than usual, and it was perfect. They are not doing indoor dining at the moment. I called and they had my roll ready in 20 minutes. The stuff is also very friendly and accommodating. This place hasn't disappointed since I've discovered it, thanks to my wife. The service is always great, regardless of how busy they are, the sushi chef keeps conversation going and makes you feel right at home. I've had an opportunity to eat here on more then 1 occasion, about 6 times already, and they're 6/6 on perfect experience so far. What makes them so great ? The sushi is fresh, all of it, from the salmon, tuna, eel, white fish, shrimp. I haven't had a roll that's tasted months, weeks, or days old. There are sushi places that are bigger and also advertised a lot more that don't hold up to the flavor and quality of the sushi they have here. Portions are also a pretty big. Usually I can fill up on 2 rolls and have room for dessert. Not here, 2 rolls for 1 person is a bit much, so 3 rolls is enough for 2 adults. This place is literally a hole in the wall, as it only seats about 10 people, but don't let it deter you. The sushi here is delicious and made fresh. Staff is efficient and friendly as well. You can also order takeout or delivery on certain food ordering apps. I work close by so I order takeout or dine in often. They make a delicious Alex #2 roll and it is my favorite. It is rolled inside-out with spicy mayo, cream cheese, crab salad, tempura shrimp topped with avocado, crunch and eel sauce and is so delicious! I also like a good spicy tuna roll and they don't disappoint on that either. Service is usually pretty quick and is made to order right in front of you (since the place is tiny lol). I must say I order from The Sushi Bar at least once every 2 weeks because ITS THAT GOOD! It is a tiny sushi bar with limited spaced but the quality of the food is amazing. I usually order for pick up/delivery. My usual order is the Alex #2 roll which is rolled inside-out with spicy mayo, cream cheese, crab salad, tempura shrimp topped with avocado, crunch and eel sauce. The sushi roll cost was $11.95. And I also ordered a vegetable fried rice. I absolutely LOVE their fried rice!! Its probably my favorite fried rice in Miami. I'm a big sushi fan and after eating at the Sushi Bar I don't think I'll be returning ever again. I'll start off with the restaurant itself. It's very small. It has a main sushi bar that seats about 4-5 people. Then I believe 3 other really small tables that seat 2 people. Very crammed space. Not really the nicest decorated inside. They have a fish tank with one fish that kind of blocks the view to where the workers sit and chill... Yes sit and chill... so it wasn't very busy and I felt like they still failed to really pay attention to my gf and I. They were just hanging out talking most of the time. When we were helped the server was nice. As far as the menu they do have a ton of made up rolls you can choose from. After trying to pick one of the many rolls we decided on one... and of course they said they didn't have that one today... not really sure why but we were bummed. So we settled for others. As far as for the quality of the food, ehhhhh not the best either. I mean it's hard to mess up a Kanisu roll. Which is one we got. That was fine. But then the other roll. Manny 2 or something.. it wasn't as tasty as I thought I'd be. My gf only had 2 pieces so I had to kill it myself. So yeah not the worsttttt sushi ever but definitely can find better in my opinion. So I have been coming to this little hole in the wall for over 10 years. This small little place can pack the biggest punch in flavor and arguably has the best sushi in Miami. The portion sizes are a lot bigger than normal sushi places and it has made it difficult to go stray away from this place when you are looking to eat sushi. As a person who has probably ordered everything there is on that white board my recommendations are (in no particular order): Pomy Part Time Michelle Ram - Riceless option that is very good! Conner Roly - (Personal Favorite but it is very basic) A not so secret order I love getting every now and then is the Tuna Tartare with the fried rice. Then you mix it up together add some spicy mayo and its pretty much the best order you can ask for. Honorable mentions: Squints Sexy Mama B.S. Ninja Alex #2 (Probably their most popular) The best part about this place is being able to talk to Jason. He is the kindest person you will ever meet. Theres an 80% chance you will see him talking to everyone on the sushi bar while he makes your food. Feel free to tell him "Mandy says hi" I am also impressed with the way that they handle all of our food with care and cleanliness. They are always changing their gloves and constantly washing their hands when they come back from the kitchen. Trust me I am a germ freak and look out for those things. If you mention that you have any type of allergies they will go above and beyond when it comes to making your order. I order here at least once a week (dine in and to-go) and for holidays and birthdays my family and I love getting their sushi boats with specialty rolls. To be honest- I absolutely love the Michelle roll that I get once in a while because it's so pricey... it says 13.95 on the menu yet the total comes out to $16 without tip included... I understand there's tax but for one roll thats ridiculous.. Then they charge you for eel sauce, which is another add on and unfair charge especially if they don't even make the sauce in house... On top of that every time i call way ahead in advance, they give me a time and when I get there my roll is never ready; I go there I watch them make my role even after coming 20 minutes later than they told me to. if they were to fix all those issues that they have when it comes to takeout orders and their time management the place would be a great sushi spot but those are the things that refrain me from eating there more often read more

Ok let me be clear. This is a hole in the wall and i did not waltz in here expecting a 5 star dining experience. But I expected some sort of proper service and attention. The food was 3 stars at best but the service was a serious 1. Just bad. We ordered the roxy, Orlando and sunset roll and a vegetable tempura appetizer. The first thing that came out was the roxy which was spicy tuna with tuna on top. The rice was not cooked well and it was incredibly bland. Next came out the vegetable tempura which was such a joke. They give you the little shavings from the vegetables only!!! They give this to you across the street at Kampai in addition to real vegetables for the same damn price! The sunset roll was not much better. Bland all the way. Then the Orlando was possibly the only redeeming roll but nothing great or even remotely good. To make matters worse I had to ask for them to bring me soy sauce plates, I had to ask for them to give me ginger and I had to ask for them to clear the giant stack of plates and dirty napkins on my little 2 person table. Oh, and I was never asked if I would like my iced tea refilled which was bone dry. We didn't even bother finishing the Orlando roll. Paid, left a deserving tip and walked over to the Jamaican restaurant next door and got us delicious Jamaican patties. How on earth anyone can say this is great or even good sushi is astounding. There is nothing good about this place. I love a diamond in the ruff. Trust me. But this is a huge let down by any standards--- especially by fellow Yelpers. Wow! Talk about a diamond in the rough! We came here on Saturday night for a bite to eat. We were looking for some great food in a low key environment and this place hit the spot. There were pretty popping for such a whole in the wall and they seem to have a very strong following of regulars. I smelled no cigar smoke as was mentioned by one reviewer., and I'm really sensitive to that. It was truly our sushi chef (Jason?) that made our experience the best. He was great! Super friendly and very knowledgeable. He's also with out a doubt they fastest sushi maker I have ever seen! This comes from someone that worked in two different sushi bars for over 2 years. Definitely order some fried rice to kick things off. It comes out hot, fresh, and fast. Although it took awhile to get the plates cleared from the previous customers the service was pretty on top and our glasses were always filled. As many have advised, skip the regular menu and head straight for the board. We had two rolls off of there but I can't remember the names. The first had mango, tuna, kimchee sauce, cilantro, avocado, and cucumber. It was perfect. The second had guava, shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado, and seared tuna steak. It was a tad too sweet even for me, but I think if we had ordered a more savoury roll to accompany it, it would have been just fine. What a great little hole in a wall!!... tucked away in the 'corner' of Sunset West Shopping Center. Look for SUSHI in red letter., on the 70's style wood shake roofing... Space is about 12'-0" by 22'-0",.. 1/2 of which is the Sushi Bar..,kitchen in back,. seating for 10-12 max.. so it's very tight, but all great places like this are!... so suck it up and order from the roll menu on the wall (see image) I'm starting from the bottom right... Owner is the brother of Akashi owner, so you might recognize some of the rolls,. but go for their very own great variety which I think are sooo much better! Was there for a quick lunch... Rather underwhelmed with this place in spite of the raving reviews. This place is rather hidden, in the inside corner of the plaza, I didn't even know this place is around in spite of having been to the supermarket, Jamaican place and Italian restaurant in the plaza. First off, I like small restaurants, but hole-in-the-wall does not equal dirt and grime. Especially when we are talking about sushi. On that note, maybe it's for the best that they don't offer many rolls with raw fish. Most are fried shrimp, cooked fish and the like, which is not my favorite. The taste of the sushi is just so-so, nothing to wow my tastebuds. True, the sushi is inexpensive, but really, good sushi is not cheap. All in all, won't be back. read more

Restaurant is now almost at capacity. There was two older Asian people sleeping in the corner behind the fish tank in plain sight of the customers. Looks TERRIBLE! Ordered a spicy tuna roll. The roll was oddly shaped, some pieces were smaller and some were bigger than others; the seaweed wasn't even touching on some. I don't understand it. Chicken Katsu. Not much flavor. Kinda bland. Hard to mess this up. The bottom of it was SOGGY, the fried goodness all just fell off. Cardona roll- tuna, mango, cilantro, cucumber, avocado, onions & Kimchee sauce.
