I went to The Summit for the first time recently! It was a smaller space than I expected it to be. I arrived at 5:30 pm on a Saturday and was able to get a table for 2 easily, but half of the bar was full already. I loved the intimate, cozy vibe of the place. Once it got dark outside, the inside was dark & moody and such a vibe. My friend and I got drinks off their special summer menu, which was SpongeBob themed (iconic!). I got the "Bikini-Tini" (the one with the honeydew balls garnish) and my friend got the "Art Thou Feeling It Now, Mr. Krabs?" We loved them! They were very unique. We split the whipped ricotta and grilled bread, which was absolutely amazing. I hadn't had a whipped ricotta dish before... I need to recreate this at home. We later ordered the fries, which were great! The ranch was a little too dill-y, so I mostly used the ketchup. We also got espresso martinis, which were smooth, and very hazelnutty. The food menu is limited. I want to try the burger next time, and I hear the popcorn is very good! I can't wait to try more cocktails as well! The service was great. They were on top of refilling our water and getting us more rounds of everything.
We stopped by as we were in town for the weekend and had taken the incline up top. It's very simple but I really enjoyed the ambiance. The doors (which look like garage doors) open to let fresh air in. I'm sure on a hot day it may get a little sweaty inside. But we had a nice breeze. We sat down and in about 60 secs we were greeted by a waiter who brought us water. After maybe another 2-3 mins another waiter came over to take our drink order. I had a draft beer as drafts were $5. As we wanted to eat dinner and their food menu was very limited with several other restaurants around. We decided to eat elsewhere. But I do like it here, if I lived around here I'd see myself stopping in for a few drinks from time to time. But since all we had was drinks I can only rate based on service, ambiance and speed which was great.
Great place for happy hour in Pittsburgh! Discounts on virtually their entire drink menu. Small food selection but what we tried were both amazing, lots of flavor and two dishes was enough for two people. Small place, maybe a dozen tables, mostly two per. Drinks tried were the Bikini-Tini, Krakatoa and two drafts: Allagash and Old Thunder Peach Thieves. Neither draft were particularly good, and the Krakatoa was a bit off the board but grew as you finished it. Bikini-Tini was by far the best drink, light and refreshing with a bit of honeydew flavor and frozen pieces. Would definitely get that again. Food was by far the best part of the experience, aside from playing Connect 4. The whipped ricotta I could have drank by the pitcher if they offered it. Topped with balsamic, pistachios and tomatoes with a hint of garlic flavor paired perfectly with the thin pieces of bread. The honey lemon pepper wings could have been their specialty item, crispy, juicy, lots of meat and the sauce was perfect. I would go back there and get two orders of these at time. Only downside is they come with one other sauce, I believe Chipotle Buffalo.
I'm doing a tour of hot dogs so when I saw they had hot dogs it got added to the list. I got the Seattle dog and pizza dog. My fave was the Seattle dog. I would go back. The bun was good. The hot dog was good. My friends ordered some apps. I tried a wing and it was good. Then drink wise I got the tequila drink of the week and it was good. The staff was super nice. I went on a Thursday it wasn't too busy.
Great spot on top of Mt. Washington. Small seating area - about 7 tables, but rather large bar area. Lots of crafty cocktails and great food selections. We only had drinks and snacks. Ordered the salt and vinegar chip things, as well as the cheese plate. Both were delicious. Ordered several different drinks and all were great! Service was terrific. Very attentive and helpful with deciding on drinks based on preferences. It's a great place to perch with garage doors that open to let in the outside air and views. Not sure about parking as took ride share to get there. Highly recommend this place. FYI - bathrooms downstairs and have to walk down steep steps.
Love the espresso martinis here. If you are looking for a bite you have to try their burger. Amazing spot
We are from out of town and could this gem on Yelp. It's small but the drinks were fantastic, the service stellar , and the food awesome!!!! Highly recommend !!!!
Years ago, I lived on Mount Washington, and I regularly ordered takeout from The Summit. It's so good to see that it's still open and thriving. A group of us went on a Monday night, and there was ample seating available. One thing to note-- lighting is extremely low at The Summit so this may not be the best place for those with visual impairments. They had sold out of entrées by the time we got there (it was close to 9, after all), so we all ordered some apps. I went with the whipped ricotta and one of my former favorite takeout items: the hand-cut fries. The former was amazing, but I was a little disappointed in the fries this time around, as half of them were too burnt to eat and they appear to have gotten rid of the rosemary aioli I loved so much. But, as a self-proclaimed potato snob, they were still decent. We also ordered martinis because they are on special for $8 on Mondays. My espresso martini was so well-made, and those who went with the dirty martini were happy as well. You can also mix and match two hot dogs for $10 at The Summit, and the members of our party who went with them said they were outstanding. If you're on Mount Washington and looking for a cozy spot with less of a party vibe than Sloppy Joe's, head over to The Summit. You won't be disappointed.
We stopped by for a quick drink and food last Wednesday evening. Sadly the kitchen was closed but the drinks were fantastic! I was obsessed with my Pineapple Under the Sea cocktail. The inside was dark and moody and there weren't a ton of people there so we were able to get a table for 6 right away.
The Summit on Mt. Washington is such a vibe. It has one of the best craft cocktail happy hours around the Burgh. The choice of cocktails has always been creative and diverse with selections changing regularly. I have also dined in the past and the burger, fries, and whipped ricotta were equally as delicious. I have never been disappointed with any of my visits, but it is worth mentioning that the space fills up quick. Happy Hour lovers, put The Summit on your list!
Béchamel on the Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese was smack'n. Drinks were amazing, but very light on the alcohol. If you're trying to get toasty too supplement with some shots. Vibes were amazing. Very dim inside. Music was perfectly eclectic. Pretty sure they had Death Cab For Cutie radio on the last time we were there. Tenders are fast and nice. 10/10 would go again.
This is now in my top 5 Pittsburgh bars. A cozy, warm bar at the top of the Monongahela Incline. We came before a Penguins game and were fortunate to get a table. We told them we were in a bit of a rush and they got us the drinks and check super quickly. The Old Fashioned was great and I loved the Boxes Full of Pepe as a whiskey and mezcal fan. The food looked fantastic but we weren't hungry so we tried the Salt and Vinegar Duritos. If you love salt and vinegar like I do, then you do not want to miss these. Recommend stopping by if you are in the area, or even making a trip up the incline just for the drinks!
Great little cocktail spot in Allentown/Mt. Washington! They offer happy hour specials during the week. Service was quick and friendly. The bartenders are so creative with their cocktail list! I enjoyed the The Boys Are Out Tonight and it was delish. Chai vodka during fall?! Sign me up. I haven't eaten here before but I've heard great things about the food. Will definitely return!

Quite possibly my new favorite cocktail bar in the city. The interior was pretty dark and industrial, but plenty of spots to cozy up for a few drinks or food. One of the best espresso martinis I've ever had! Services was quick and efficient, the bartenders served all of the tables it seemed. read more
Summit Never Fails When I want a great cocktail @thesummit412 is always on my list of places to consider. They crush it. Every. Single. Time. I've literally never been let down by a visit to this cozy little spot atop Mount Washington. They have a unique cocktail menu that they switch up pretty regularly, plus tasty apps too! On our last visit, I'd recently had some other very disappointing espresso martinis (elsewhere in the city) and they eased my bad drink sorrows with perfect cocktails. Maybe the best espresso martini in Pittsburgh! This spot is quite small, so if we're going we try to go early. I love how cozy it is in the winter or how nice & breezy when they open up the garage doors for nice weather. The only negative is having to go down super steep steps to get to the restroom downstairs. Highly recommend. read more

My daughter and I came here on a recent weekend night for some small plate bites and a few cocktails. The atmosphere is funky and cool with a great vibe. A dimly lit space with only a few tables gave it a very intimate feel. Luckily, there were seats open at the bar, so we bellied up and watched the "show" as it unfolded. Known for their craft cocktails, we each chose one of their signature drinks and then intently witnessed how reach one was put together. My daughter chose a sweeter version called the Leora and I had a more savory drink called the No Vacancy. Each was unique and great for sipping along with our meal. We decided to share two items and settled on the deviled eggs and the smoked gouda mac-n-cheese. The deviled eggs were tangy in taste and velvety smooth in texture. But the mac-n-cheese...ohhhhh, the mac-n-cheese...was like crack! The smokiness of the gouda and the small pasta held a maximum amount of cheesy sauce goodness. A crunchy layer of crushed bacon on top gave it just the right amount of bite and we were both in love with this dish! Between these two dishes, and a bourbon old fashioned thrown on the back end we were full to the brim. We had enjoyed great conversations, chill music, fantastic drinks and food...and were now ready to catch some zzzzz's. We will most certainly be back during another trip through The 'Burgh. read more

One of my most favorite bars in Pittsburgh. Located within walking distance of the Monongahela Incline and the overlooks, The Summit is by far the best bar on Mount Washington. They have a great selection of creative cocktails and curated food. And some of the best beer available both local and international. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their craft. And the atmosphere is super low key. Pro tip: they have an amazing selection of board and card games to grab abs play at your table while you are there. read more

This is my favorite bar in Pittsburgh. It is located right in the heart out Mount Washington and is a great place for handcrafted cocktails, food and people watching. They always have a theme of different cocktails depending on the season so it is always exciting to try the new ones! On my most recent visit, I tried the BBQ which was a pineapple bourbon drink with the cutest little BBQ chip clipped on as a garnsih and an espresso cocktail. The BBQ was unique and fun and the espresso martini was one of the best I've had in the city. For appetizers, we got the cheese and charcuterie plate. They are super affordable and we were able to split them between our party of 4. For dinner, we got the Mac and cheese and the chicken sandwich. The star of the show was truly the mac and cheese - with 4 types of cheese and bread crumbs on top it was truly chefs kiss. We will be back soon when they release their next round of new cocktails and new menu items! read more

Walking in the door we were warmly greeted and seated. The place is romantic, cozy and inviting. The craft beer list is on point!! We enjoyed fries with 4 dipping sauces and watching people play games from the Summits in house board game collection. Really really cool place :) You can trust me, I'm in the business ;D read more

The only reason I say 4 out of 5 is because I didn't get to try the food, and I am looking forward to going back to change that. From the perspective of enjoying craft cocktails, this spot is extremely solid and innovative in what they share on the menu. I loved their Mezcal drink and highly recommend. Vibes are very industrial but lounge like so you can go on a date, stop in after work or spend time with friends here. All good choices. If you leave and walk a block toward Grandview Avenue you will get a great view of the city of Pittsburgh. Cheers read more

I heart this place! We went for happy hour and it was amazing! There are huge open windows along the one wall so you it feels like you're outside when you're in here. It's a beautiful bar and the staff is so friendly. Our super awesome waitress turned me on to her favorite drinks - I loved them all and they were so good I can't remember any of the names of them! I'm sure any of their cocktails are awesome though. I also had the old fashioned and it was amazing! We only had small shareable plates while we were there waiting for friends but they were delicious too. Pretty sure they change the happy hour menu regularly so you're never bored. Will definitely be back -great bar, drinks and staff! read more

This is my go-to happy hour spot. As a Mount Washington local, I might be biased but this is my favorite cocktail bar in PGH. The staff is very friendly and the cocktails are incredibly well made with attention to detail. The espresso martini is a delicious choice and the leora is refreshing and sweet. read more

The Summit has hands down some of the best cocktails in the Pittsburgh area, and compared to other cocktail bars, they're reasonably priced. Their cocktail menu has a variety of cocktails ranging from the classics like a Negroni which they nail every time to more inventive drinks like the Sakura Fizz which was visibly beautiful and tasted just as great. The service is great, everyone is friendly and helpful with drink suggestions. The overall vibe is one of my favorites in Pittsburgh, especially in the summer time with the open windows. The Summit is a must-go cocktail spot and they have an amazing happy hour with $8 classic cocktails. read more

Another place I would recommend is The Summit. It's places nicely on Shiloh street. It's a good dinner and drinks joint. We came here for drinks one evening and stayed for some food. We ordered fried Brussels Sprouts and fries with our drinks. Everything came out fast and hot. The provide water for the table to have. We went during happy hour so we had the drinks and apps deal that was available to us. The place is kinda small and does not sit any many people. It is first come first serve and you can sit wherever you find a spot. It's always crowded when we come, so don't be in a hurry if you stop in. Overall, the food and drinks were great but the seating is a little tight . You gotta be comfortable with being close to people . read more

First of all let me say Bravo. This place is absolutely amazing, from the minute we walked in we felt very welcomed. This place isn't very big but I like that, the bartender initially helped us because the waitress was busy and I really appreciated that. Kudos to the bartenders as well for the drinks were magnificent and the wait was minimal for each one. Well done for the waitress as well because she did an amazing job. Finally let me talk about the food, ohhh the food...Absolutely amazing, we had the Mac n' cheese, whipped feta, and tacos. These were so good and we could not get enough. It's safe to say we'll be back again and if you haven't been I highly recommend it! read more

This is a great location in Mt. Washington, tucked back in the business district, off of the main overlook road. It was a nice day, so the windows were open in the small restaurant. They had a slushee stout, which tasted just like a mudslide, complete with fresh whipped topping. The mussels were amazing with a tomato, garlic, chorizo sauce and the bread grilled perfectly for dipping. I wanted more and bigger chunks of chorizo! The fries were hot and crispy. This place has a really cool vibe and we love to go for happy hour! They have really great specials on small bites and change up their deviled eggs all the time - so yummy. They have an awesome beer selection both on draft and in cans and so I'm always trying something new! I've never been overly impressed with the food if we stay for dinner so a lot of times we just have some drinks and light bites. The atmosphere is always very chill and cool... it's a great place to just hang out and relax at the bar! The bartenders are nice and helpful and always steer you towards the drink or beer that you're looking for! read more

Great place. Good food and drinks. Bartender really knows how to make drinks. Ordered the burger and Mac and cheese. I wish I would have taken a picture of the burger, it was delicious. The Mac and cheese was fantastic. They really know how to make food taste like homemade. The server we had was great. They also have games to play to make it even more enjoyable. I will be returning again. Prices are reasonable. read more

I just moved to Pittsburgh two days ago. I've been to 5 different bars. The Summit has the proper old fashioned that you expect to slap on the first sip. It's excellent. I'm impressed. The color and taste is just right. read more
