I usually don't leave feedback as I usually am lenient and overlook a few issues that may occur with businesses trying to deliver services, however in this situation, I felt compelled to write a review as I had a very unpleasant experience. From the beginning, I started noticing issues in terms of notifying us on the status. We had to call multiple times to keep them on track in terms of them receiving the material (as it was back ordered) and scheduling pickup. Round 1: When I received the couch with the updated cushion covers, the covers were fitted over the old cushion covers instead of replacing them. They were not fitted well and when I called to explain the situation, I was told that this is how it is done. The response kept me wondering as to how someone can fit a new slipcover over an old slipcover. It seemed that you are wearing your new clothes while having your old clothes on. We had to drop off the cushions (driving 25-30 mins) to get it fixed, even though pickup and delivery were included in the contract. Round 2: Upon dropping off the cushions to have them fixed, we requested that the slipcovers be restitched/adjusted to properly fit the cushions without the old slipcovers, they overlooked our request and fixed the issue by adding extra padding to the cushion without our consent. The cushion bases were sliced open to add the extra padding which were not sewed back, ruining the original look, and did not fit the couch frame which now was sticking out at least 3 inches. The addition of the extra padding made the cushions stiff and very uncomfortable. When we brought this issue to their notice, they mentioned that the padding was complementary which we did not request and they would charge an additional fee to remove the non-requested padding and fit the cushion covers to the original size, which was supposed to done at the first place. This felt that we had to pay for their mistakes. Round 3: Cut-yardage removed the non-requested padding and did some adjustments to fit the cushions but now the covers wrinkles up when someone sits on the couch (this was not the case with the old slipcovers). When asked by the delivery person as to why there were so many back-n-forth with cushions, I mentioned to him my experience of the grueling process I went through. Two hours later, Doug (the owner) shows up on our doorstep unannounced and started gaslighting about the situation. We felt harassed and intimidated by his approach. It just confirmed my plan to share my experience with Cut-yardage. As per Cut-yardage guarantee to "value every customer and stand behind our craftsmanship 100%", however, the whole experience felt that they did not consider their customer request and instead of trying to make it better, they tried to cut corners in fixing their error and tried to make an extra buck at the expenses of their customer dissatisfaction regarding their work. I apologize for the long review, but I wanted to share my worst experience working with Cut-yardage in detail. Please don't get fooled by the 'five' stars as this may be farmed. EDIT: It baffles me to accept that a couch would look loose when cushion covers are changed from a patterned fabric if it is stitched to the right dimensions. Since we don't belong to your domain of knowledge, a business who is serving customers for 25 years of business should know to take the time in understanding their customer requests rather than assume. We were never explained the outcome of our request properly and hence missed expectations. Yes, we were promised that Doug was going to drop the cushions covers but he did not show up. However, the covers were delivered by a delivery person and we were not informed that Doug could not make it to the delivery. We were disappointed to see the delivery guy show up rather than Doug when the covers were delivered. Later when Doug showed up and my husband opened the door, the first thing he said was 'Well I had to come because your wife said she was going to leave a sh**ty review (whereas what I mentioned was that I am planning to write about my experience) Also, Doug did not like me sharing my experience with his delivery person when his delivery person was nice enough to ask me, what went wrong as he had done multiple rounds for it. Doug said that "Well you can write whatever you want but just so you know that I'll write back". I don't know why he had to mention that? It felt intimidating and threatening. It makes me wonder and question the ratings as I have never had such an awful experience with any business/vendor. Being the best means to listen and understand your customers and deliver to their expectations, which in this case fell short even though multiple attempts to rectify the situation just added to more frustration and aggravation. We took the chair and ottoman to Cut Yardage and Zecaly took her time to assist us. We chose our fabric and a couple of months later the chair and ottoman were better than new. We chose a style that reflected the chair's origin. This was a complicated pattern and they were able to match the pattern, including lining up the stripes from piece to piece. The chair has a separate headrest, as well as arm protectors. Everything looks great! I'm a professional sewing writer. I moved and bought drapery fabric and lining fabric for all my windows. I never got around to making most of the drapes. It helps to have a huge worktable that can accommodate drapery fabric for even one window. I don't. But I know how to sew drapes. Bear with me here. You hem the bottom of a rectangle of drapery fabric and a rectangle of drapery lining. Sew the rectangles together. Pleat the top of both layers. This is the fiddly part--unless you sew on pleating tape. The tape has strings run through it that you pull up to make the kind of pleats you want, and you can adjust it to fit your window width perfectly. You can easily buy it on the net. For more information, see a blog or YouTube video on sewing drapes. This knowledge will really help you if you want to order drapes from The Stitch Room (formerly Cut-Yardage). I first called The Stitch Room and asked if they would make drapes from fabric I provided. They said yes, no problem. Then I went to their office armed with fabric swatches, window measurements, and my spreadsheet calculations of how much fabric was needed. You can find drapery fabric calculators on the net as well. The nice sales clerk calculated the fabric needed on the store calculator. It was significantly more than my calculations. She helpfully redid them for me. Still way too much. We then discussed how they sew the drapes. My windows need 1 1/2 widths of drapery fabric per drape, meaning one width should be split vertically down the middle and sewn onto a full width. This is very common. The amount of fabric is an issue for two reasons. First, too much or too little fullness looks unattractive. Second, the price of drapery fabrics varies but, on average it runs about $50/yard. Splitting a width can save a significant amount of money. The manager came in. She explained to me that although the Stitch Room theoretically makes custom drapes, they *never, ever* vary their procedures. It is too complicated for them to split a length of fabric down the middle. (Measure halfway across and wield your scissors.) I offered to do it for them but the manager said they "could not finish a project I had started." They have no idea where to buy drapery pleating tape. I told them that they can buy it online at Wawak Sewing Supplies, who would probably set up a commercial account for them. The manager said they'd have to buy a hundred-yard roll. (36 yards, current price around $30 for the whole roll.) I was told that this was the "European" method of making drapes and we are in the US. I'm as American as they get--and so are the books and blogs on making drapes that I read. I offered to buy the tape myself and bring it in, but the manager didn't want that either. I was then told that The Stitch Room caters to *professional* designers who went to *interior design school*. I told them I formally studied fashion design but apparently that does not make me worthy of being their customer. When I browsed the fabrics years ago when the store was called Cut-Yardage, the front office was full of people asking to have drapes made for their own houses. I can't tell who buys there now, because there was no customer there except me. I was asked with astonishment how I sew on drapery rings (simple) and whether I own a sewing machine (absolutely). I was told that perhaps my drapes could be made by a "seamstress," but when I asked for a recommendation they did not have any. I was indirectly asked why I don't make the drapes myself. I pointed out that The Stitch Room visibly has an entire back workshop full of huge tables (and that I don't have one), although no one was doing any work at them when I was there. They just had one employee keeping an eye on the bolts of fabric. The manager *eventually* said The Stitch Room *might* be able to make custom drapes, but my impression was that it would be very expensive. Their website also says they charge an extra fee to customers who provide their own fabric--though not what that fee is. It was not disclosed to me in this meeting. I am not saying you shouldn't use this business, but it will *definitely* help to have your own calculation of how much fabric you will need before you visit them. The usual width is 1 1/2 to 2 times the window width (my calculations worked out to 1 3/4 times by splitting my fabric vertically). No more than 2 times unless it is a sheer fabric, and no usually no less than 1 1/2 times. Personally, I'll pass. ETA: The Stitch Room called to say they saw this review. Their response was to *order* me never to visit their shop again. The thing is, we have had furniture reupholstered there in past years, but the business has really changed since then. read more

They are pricey, more than some of the competitors, but the craftsmanship is beautiful and the customer service was great as well! My husband and I chose Cut Yardage to reupholster 4 of our dining chairs. We went to them in December and they said they couldn't start on the chairs until the end of January. It was two weeks after when they called to pick up the chairs. I asked the lady on the phone when will we have them back and she said it will be another two or three weeks, or more. I got upset and asked to speak to the manager. Vanessa got on the phone and said they could have it done by the end of the week, so I was pleased. It had been a little over a week when we received a call the chairs were done and they would deliver. My husband went to their business to pay the remaining balance as they said we had to pay before they delivered the chairs. He took home two of the chairs while he was there. The ribbon on the chairs were loose at the top and their were gouges in the chair at the top. We could also see the staples in the chair which was tacky. My husband called to see what they could do about this situation. Vanessa asked if he could send her pictures of the damages and the loose robbon. She called back and said they would pick up the chairs and fix the ribbon issue. My husband asked for a discount for the damages. She mentioned no apologies, but that they were probably already there, which they were not as I have photos before the chairs were in their possession and we recently bought the dining set brand new. I looked on the positive side and texted her and said I was impressed with the turn around time and appreciate she got it done within the time frame I requested, and that I was willing to give her $100 for completing them in a shorter time, which she refused. She asked us to send back the two chairs to repair the ribbon. Now, I realized why she wanted us to send the chairs back as they were even more damages to the wood on the two chairs we sent back for the ribbon repair and damages to the other two they delivered. read more

Look NO FURTHER! We had our sectional for about 5 years and it started to look really sad. The cushions no longer were firm and you would sink right into the couch, talk about embarrassing when having guest over!! They did a great job on my chair. This chair has sentimental value to me as it was left to me after my mother passed away. However it was in bad shape so I knew that if I wanted to keep it , it was going to need pretty much an overhaul.
