After reading the previous reviews, and then more recent ones, things are making a bit more sense now. I can see how things have trended downhill in 2022. We just spent 4 days there and the first night we had just got off the road and were starving. We had three kids that needed to eat, and were really excited to try this restaurant. There were open tables all over the place, and only a couple of people at the bar. The host just looked at us and said we are completely booked, sorry, next time make a reservation, and walked away. So, we scratched our head a bit, as there is nowhere else to eat, we made a reservation for the next night. Fast forward to next night. In reading the reviews, I now understand that they are short staffed, but that does not change the fact that the staff they had was just dysfunctional and rude . Our waiter looked like he just woke up and crawled out of a tent, and had no personality at all, the guy seating us had nothing to say other than monotone struggling pleasantries, with no smile. The waitress was nice, but obviously pulling the weight of the others. That said, there was only three other families there, so not a overwhelming crowd. In general the adult food was decent, the filet mignon was cooked nicely, but the Ravioli's had so much garlic inside and out in the sauce, that I was moaning and groaning all night with heartburn. The kids menu is just goofy, made no sense, and cannot be customized at all, pasta was pre-made, and had creamy lemony, cheesy stuff/sauce that the kids wouldn't even touch. The three choices were very limited and we had to ultimately feed them cereal when we got back to the room. Would chicken strips be much of a stretch? Fast forward to the next night. We struck out getting pizza at the Strawberry Inn, as they were closed, so we again had to wing it with the kids and fed them whatever we could find at the general store (keep in mind, no fridge or microwave in the rooms, so challenging). The two of us decided to go grab something quickly at the Steam Donkey before the movie started. Again, we went in and the place was empty, open tables everywhere, they said sorry they were fully booked, with 45 minutes to closing (yeah right!). So, disappointing and sad to see such a buzz kill at a beautiful and majestic California getaway. The owners should rethink the vibe they are giving off here, and how they are treating customers, and with so many kids in a place like this, add some variety to the kids options, it's actually easier for the chef. We met all kinds of friendly people and had a great trip, but this place was disappointing, it needs some help. These are pretty solvable things though, so staying optimistic. read more
