Ate here while staying at the lodge. Great outdoor views from their deck as you look down on a creek. The staff was awesome from morning to night. Very caring making sure I had everything I needed. I even ate breakfast next to on of the staff who was also eating and had a nice chat. Felt like a group of friends. I had their Strawberry burger and their Strawberry omelette. Both dishes tasted good, the omelette could have had some more seasoning and the potatoes chopped a little smaller but overall good.

A fun stop for lunch while up the mountain! The service is on their time, so be prepared. The view of the river is beautiful year round, which you can enjoy while having a drink from their full bar.

Came here around 10 am on a Sunday. The place was deserted, you walk into the bar first and are greeted by a lady who takes your order and gives you a buzzer when your order is done. Tells you to sit wherever you'd like in or outside. We ordered the bacon breakfast burrito, which had no flavor at all, and the eggs Benedict, which was good. They were served on paper plates and plastic cups. Sign posted says to clean up after yourself but it's ok to leave the cups. We sat inside because of the bees. Looked nice outside overlooking the river. Not to many places to eat up here but maybe we'd try dinner next time.

No curtains. Just blinds. This is how bright it is at 10:30pm.

Safety concerns, uncomfortable, overpriced and smelly. But I will say that there were nice employees who are doing their best. Safety concern: There are no landline phones in the rooms. Mountain cell reception is inconsistent. We have t-mobile and did not have any cell reception. Hotel WiFi goes in and out. This means that in an emergency there may be no way to call emergency services. Please keep in mind before booking if you have medical conditions. An old man slipped on ice in the morning. If it had happened at night it may have been a really bad situation. If you stay here, save driving directions to the nearest hospital on your phone ahead of time. In our case we had no way of contacting anyone when the pipe under our sink started flooding the bathroom at night. Since there's no front desk when the restaurant is closed, there's no way to contact anyone. Luckily my husband found an employee in the hall who lives in the apartment above the restaurant and she fixed our sink late at night. When you check in they don't give you any direct contact info for who to call after hours. People checking in late have their room keys taped to the wall by the front door in envelopes with their name on it, and room number is on the inner envelope. This means that anyone off the street could potentially come in and take a key and gain access to the guest corridors. Or let someone into your room to wait, if you're into horror movies. If you arrive and your key isn't there and it's after hours, you may have no way of contacting anyone at the hotel since there is no front desk and cell reception is not available for some people depending on carrier. Even if you have reception they don't answer after hours. The rooms smell overpoweringly of cheap perfume-y cleaning solution. There is no mini fridge. No curtains -just blinds- so if you have small kids get ready to be awake at the crack of dawn. No tub. This would be fine if they weren't charging the same as a nice hotel. It was our bad since we booked last minute. There is a reason this is the last place with vacancies. Pizza was good though! And employees were nice. It's next to a pretty river and there is a cute general store across the way where they make homemade chili and fudge.

Strawberry Inn omelette and Irish coffee (made with real espresso) toast on the side not pictured.

Food was ready fast and the potatoes were delicious. Friendly staff and decent pricing. Casual vibe with nice views.

The room was very clean, comfy, and the amenities were great. The evening wine and apps hour was a nice touch, with a fantastic and ample selection of local wines. Breakfast was a mix of good quality items, although we would like to have had a hot vegan option (tofu scramble, breakfast potatoes, or ??). There was oat milk and soy milk so we had cereal with nuts and berries, wheat toast with peanut butter, fresh fruit, juices, and coffee/ tea. The walkway behind the hotel is the jewel here...it is SO pretty! So many birds at low and high tide. Such a pretty view of Mt Tamalpais in the distance. Highly recommend!

We come to Sausalito at least once a year and always stay at the Inn Above Tide. It's located on the waterfront and each room has the perfect view of the ocean, looking out towards the city of San Francisco and the San Francisco Bay Bridge. All the rooms have their own private deck where you can relax with a glass of wine or champagne and take in the beautiful views of the city of San Francisco. All the shops and restaurants on Bridgeway St. are within walking distance of the Inn. It is also right next to the Ferry where you can purchase tickets for a ride into San Francisco. When you arrive, you are greeted at the gate of their private parking lot, where your car is safely stored during your stay. Check-in is always easy and all the staff are extremely accommodating and friendly. They offer a Continental breakfast that is served buffet-style in their Drawing Room or you can have your breakfast delivered to your room for a $5 fee. Every evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. they have wine, cheeses, crackers, and fresh fruit for all guests in their Drawing Room. You can also arrange to have this delivered to your room as well. When we arrived to our suite, they had a lovely anniversary surprise waiting for us inside. They had a silver tray on our table, with a white rose, a bottle of champagne, a box of Napa Valley chocolates, and a lovely card to welcome us. When we booked our stay, for this trip, we chose the City Lights Suite. The inside of the suite is beautiful, luxurious, immaculate, and very spacious. The bed was very comfortable. I have an allergy to feathers. They made sure our pillows and bedding did not contain any down feathers. They had fresh, gorgeous orchids in the main part of the suite as well as the en suite bathroom. If you want to watch a movie, they have a huge catalog of DVDs, you can pick from, to watch in your room. They really go above and beyond to make your stay an unforgettable experience. That's why we always come back. I want to especially thank all the staff for making us feel welcome and making our stay extra special.

Bathroom and bedroom were spacious but a bit dated. Bathroom is located on our left with you enter. Closet space and a refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker on the right side. Before you make a reservation you need to ask yourself "am I looking for a place to sleep and shower right by the beautiful bay or am I looking for a luxurious hotel experience?" if it's the latter then this hotel is definitely not for you. I originally booked this hotel for two nights but ended up departing after one night due to the noise level of other guests. I don't think they were particularly loud however due to how the rooms are designed (they are designed more like a hostel, the rooms are literally so close to one another because they tried to fit in as many rooms as they possibly could in such an enclosed space) It was impossible to get a good night's rest. As someone who is very sleep sensitive it's imperative that I get my good hours of sleep in to properly function throughout the day. Robin who works in the front however is very warm and welcoming and will take the time to properly explain how to best utilize your room and the location of the hotel. She will also let you know the best place to park so that you do not end up getting a ticket, the hotel gets a pass from the city to park there for a fee, the fee depends on how busy It is. If I could write a review just based on my interactions with Robin - I would give this place 5 stars but the hotel itself and the room just did not live up to an ideal stay.

It was on the budget end of the scale, which might be the first clue that things were not going to be fancy-style. The property is clearly old and tired. First, let me enumerate the positives. The location could hardly be easier. It's on Highway 1 just off Highway 101 in Mill Valley. And considering the location, our room was surprisingly free of road noise, probably because it had newish dual pane windows. The bedding was clean, and the bed was pretty comfortable. The door lock was of a new and modern design. The clerk that checked us in was very friendly. Lastly, the toilet and sink appeared to be fairly recently upgraded. On the minus side of the ledger, the TV did not work. The bathroom is small. There were stains in the tub, and the floor of the tub flexed underfoot. The (fairly recently upgraded) toilet did not flush correctly. There are no towel hooks, rods, or bars to hang towels on. The hot/cold controls on the sink are backwards. The room smelled of stale marijuana smoke. There were scorch marks/burns on the desk. There was no breakfast as advertised on the website. There was no hair dryer as advertised on the website. Two of the ceiling light cans did not work. The walls are thin enough to hear conversations, the neighbors' TV, and more. There are numerous dings and scrapes in the walls and doors. The toilet paper was nearly thin enough to see through. There was no kleenex in the room. The sink stopper was missing. There was no phone in the room. There are a few things that I can only classify as weirdness, although they could probably serve as a indicators that this is no 5-star facility: The website is incomplete, with many pages showing the default web page language ("Lorum ipsum dolor sit amet..."). The contact email on the website is "info@example.com". The clerk sits in a plexiglass enclosure. There is a poster displaying the potential signs of human trafficking next to the clerk's enclosure. The bathroom has mounting hardware for fixtures that are no longer installed (former light and hair dryer mount?). The blinds were broken, missing the rod that connects all the slats together. The electrician seemed to leave the jobsite early, leaving an electrical box without a cover (possibly the reason the TV wasn't working). Would we stay there again? The Muir Woods Lodge would not be our first choice. It would not be our second choice. It would not be our third, fourth, fifth, or sixth choice, either. But if we absolutely had to stay in Mill Valley, we might be willing to stay there again, if the alternative would be to sleep in the car or on a park bench.
