Burger and get
Mary K.

This place is always busy. I tried several times during the week after 7pm no parking and always a line. I came on the weekend and not so busy tried the holly cow double patty burger over fries. It was ok the sauce is a bit spicy for me. The service was great and the out door seats are great. They do have a covered section with heater's.

The Station is located in a triangle plot where Russel St, Claremont Blvd, and Claremont Ave all connect. I've driven through this intersection multiple times and have always been interested in checking out this burger joint that always looks crowded. I finally had the chance to stop by the other week. Parking can be a challenge but there's plenty of street parking on the neighboring streets. You walk up to the window to place your order and wait for your buzzer to ring before picking it up at the other window. Jimmy enthusiastically greeted us when we walked up and was super welcoming. I told him it was our first time there. We went with a single original back alley burger which was served with grilled onions, American cheese, pickles, and their house sauce. They also have a kids burger, off the menu, which just comes with meat, cheese, and bun. I couldn't resist an order of their fries and a cookies and cream milkshake. Given how busy they were I was surprised the food took less than 10 minutes! They use Martin's potato buns and it was so soft. The burgers were great! The fries were thin, crispy, and of a generous portion. Loved the shake too! There are plenty of outdoor tables for dining. The section to the left is fully covered while the spots in front of the windows are mostly covered.

Welcome to The Station

This is such a wonderful spot here in Berkley just a few minute walk from where we stay when we visit, which is often. We have been coming here for a couple of years now and it has been fun to watch its' transformation from a good spot to an outstanding spot. Walk up to the order window and they have a very simple [and pretty extensive] menu hanging in another window. Most people take a picture of it then decide on-line what they are eating. I have consistently done their excellent smash burger (really tasty) with their perfect light brown crispy fries, My wife does the chicken sandwich while my son does the salad with chicken filet. They are friendly and efficient and make sure they get it right the first time. They give you and buzzer and all you have to do is wait a few minutes. Once you pick up your food there is plenty of outdoor seating as well as a covered area. The place is well designed, clean and filled with lots of positive electricity. Everyone enjoying their food and engaged in active conversation. The team here is just excellent and all these things just make this the perfect place to come and enjoy a meal. KUDOs to the team at The Station.

Holy cow, it was great. My go-to!

This is a fun outdoor spot with extra nice service and fun food. We had the Holy Cow and the Cheeaeburger with fries. The Holy Cow was an unusual burger over fries, topped with hot mayo and brilliant pickles. All was extremely well prepared and in a timely fashion. We'll be there again.

We feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this place, what a treat! Easily a highlight of our trip has been experiencing this place, the food, the service, the neighborhood vibes. A true 5 star experience from start to finish. So much so, that as we were eating our meal, we made plans to return the next day. With our pup in tow we walked down from the Claremont Hotel, waited in line, ordered with the nicest staff I think we've ever encountered anywhere. Then we gabbed a seat on the sidewalk, got our food, which our pup scarfed down (2 pup patties), we had burgers, fries and lemonade. Every single thing was delicious. Truly such a treat and the vibes were immaculate. Can't wait for our next visit!

Saigon Chicken Smash with extra guacamole and pickle

5* when you have a 3 yo in tow and you need easy, quick, outdoor seating, and a kid-friendly adult meal. Bonus: plays great music. Very reasonable prices compared to everywhere I've been so far this trip. Bookmarking for future ref! We ordered: 1. Saigon smash basically a chicken banh mi in a burger bun. Crisp pickled radish and carrot with grilled chicken. I added guacamole for extra richness- so good, also extra pickle because I have a sour tooth. 2. Cheeseburger and fries- toddler inhaled almost 3/4 of the burger. Wow. 3. Cucumber salad- mint dill, baby spinach, pickled red onions and smashed cukes in a white vinaigrette- addicting and fresh Service was fast, parking was easy- Highly recommend

Our new favorite burger spot!! Everything was so fresh and the fries were honestly some of the best fries I've had in a while. We ordered the original black alley burger and the Saigon smash burger. The Saigon smash burger was so unique, it was like a banh mi sandwich but burger style. The seating area is so cute too. They have a fire pit on one side which made it so cozy.

$7.95 Back Alley Burger: not an oversized burger but delicious $4.95 Fries: generous, crispy, perfectly salted. $7 Vanilla Shake: excellent. Tastes like the real thing. There are tastier, more joojed up burgers that I enjoy, but if you just want the American classic, this nails it.

John called me to discuss the "Say Cheeseboard" at the Hillside Club event of June 10. So at around 6pm Sunday the 14th, our tete a tete took place here. I had bought a surprise! Now to be clear....I like the single patty Station Smashburger.... but what I truly adore is the mustard grilled cheeseburger with both WHOLE grilled onions, raw onions, ,& xtra: 1. pickles, 2. tomatos, 3. & crispy cool iceburg lettuce, with mustard & ketchup on the xtra toasted bun & the spread on the side assume y'all know where from.... In N Out Alameda!! so to try & mimic my adored version I brought us crispy iceburg, a small white onion & a big pretty ripe tomato & a knife turned a good smashbuger into a sublime version with a the textural complexity that a gooey smashburger doesn't hold a candle to just my informed 79 yo opinion ...if you don't agree.....eat it

Meet me at The Station! The Station is an outdoor eatery that offers a select menu of smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, bowls, milkshakes, and soft serve. Prices are moderate. It's also located in a really nice area and I liked how the seating is mainly outside with some enclosed space in a balcony / patio area. There are also heaters! Parking can bit rough though as it is limited. I wanted to try something different, so I got the Saigon Smash and Vanilla Soft Serve. The Saigon Smash is Viet inspired grilled chicken sandwich with pickled daikon/carrots. It tasted pretty fresh and healthy, but personally I would've wanted the chicken to be fried / crispy. One thing I wasn't expecting was how good their soft serve was. Sooo creamy and not too milky! Easier on the stomach than I anticipated. I also got to try their smash burger with their fries. Meat to cheese ratio was great and I enjoyed the bun. Really solid in terms of flavor and looks, but would've liked lettuce or some sort of veggie besides the onions. Their fries are shoestring and similar to In-n-out's. Definitely coming back for that soft serve and perhaps another kind of sandwich or bowls! It was really lively at night and large group friendly.

I Came for the hype,,, and I stayed for the vibe. The atmosphere is awesome It's a cool old gas station aesthetic, outdoor fire pits, friendly staff and a fun community feel. Perfect spot to hang with friends or take a date. Now the food... the smash burger was way too salty for my taste and the super-soft bun made it feel more like I was eating a burrito. The fries????Also loaded with salt. Be warned: the special sauce has a real kick if you're not into spicy food. Big shoutout to the vanilla milkshake it was the MVP of the meal. Overall: Great service and ambiance but next time I'm asking for less salt, please!

Crispy edges on the singe patty in the back alley burger

What can I say other than: I came at the right time. A line formed behind me shortly after I fell in line with maybe 3 groups ahead of me. I've driven past this place with an even longer line and refused to join. I live close enough that I can always come back. The line was reasonable, the wait wasn't too bad. I felt I waited maybe 20-30min in total. I ordered to-go: - 2 back alley single patty burgers (smash burgers) - side of fries - 1 chocolate, 1 strawberry hand-spun milkshakes I was told the crispier the edges, the better the smash! And it did not disappoint. The fries were okay, but I really enjoyed the burger! I liked how simple it was and not too expensive (similar to Gott's burgers). I would definitely come back and make it a double patty!

Back Alley Double with fries and side of house sauce

I've tried this place a few times through door dash but was not ready to leave a review until I came in person. Right off the bat, the service was super kind. They have a window that you order at with outside seating. Some tables have umbrellas while other parts have a structured canopy. They have a straight to the point menu. I always get a double back alley burger and a side of fries. The bun has a little bottom so none of your yummy condiments fall out. The bun is so so soft and fluffly. The onions melt in your mouth. The fries are golden crispy shoe string fries. The kicker is that while this place is delicous in person, it also stands up through door dash. Even after sitting in someone's car for god knows how long, it still arrives delicious and fries not soggy.

It came with a side of coleslaw (3.5 Stars) and spiced honey (3 Stars). They fried a whole breast, it was so large that it over flowed the toasted brioche bun. The only thinking that made it spicy was the homemade spicy mayo, so it wasn't that spicy. I noticed on the menu they have sauces, like Nashville and buffalo. I think next time I'll try one of those sauces to kick up the heat. The cheese I add was not needed, I should have left off. The Fries (4 stars) were coated with potato flour and seasoning, which made a great crispy crust, served hot. Mac N' Cheese (4 Stars $6.49) I ordered the small 8oz, it was corkscrew pasta covered with a cheese sauce that was awesome with some Cajun spices, a like dirt Mac and some extra cheese on top. The burger was fresh and flavorful--you can taste the quality in every bite. The onion rings were on point too: crispy, not greasy, perfectly cooked. Dipping them into the habanero mayo gave it just the right kick. Definitely recommend that combo. The staff was friendly and kept things cool even though there were only two or three people running the place. The spot itself is small, just a few tables and chairs, with a little bit of Latin music playing in the background, which gave it a nice touch. When I first got there, it wasn't too busy, but by the time I finished, it was filling up. Walked around the block to stretch out, came back 15 minutes later, and the place was packed. What's also impressive is that their fried chicken sandwich was voted one of Yelp's Top 50 Fried Chicken Sandwiches in California, ranking #33 in the state. That's what I'm definitely trying next time. Final verdict: Great burger, great onion rings, friendly service, and a spot worth checking out if you're around University Ave in Berkeley. Two thumbs up from me.

I love that you can choose the doneness of the patty. I went with medium, and it came out perfectly cooked. The bun was soft, buttery, and rich without feeling too greasy, and every ingredient seemed intentional and added something distinct to the burger. It is a very large burger, though, so be prepared for it to get a little messy. There is a restroom where you can wash your hands, but it requires a key, so bringing hand sanitizer or wet wipes may be helpful. What I don't understand is why I'm charged an additional $2.50 for the lettuce wrap when I'm not even getting the bun. If you're taking something away, what's the justification for adding an extra charge? I could understand a modest upcharge, but $2.50 for a few leaves of lettuce is hard to justify. I can buy an entire head of lettuce for about that price. What bothered me even more was that no one mentioned the charge when I placed my order. It wasn't until I picked up my food and saw the receipt that I realized I had been charged extra. Customers deserve to know about additional charges before they order, not after the fact. When I politely asked why there was a $2.50 charge, the employee simply looked at me and said, "I don't know." There was no explanation, no offer to ask someone else, and no attempt to address a perfectly reasonable question. That level of customer service was just as disappointing as the surprise charge. The burger was excellent, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. At this point, I don't plan on coming back. Or maybe I'll just bring my own lettuce next time. Better yet, just give me the burger without the bun, and I'll wrap the damn thing myself when I get home.
