First time here. I'm a ribeye type of guy, so I decided to give it a shot. I ordered mine "medium" and Steak was kind of dry. I usually don't ask for A1 sauce unless steak is missing flavor. So I had to ask for A1. Didn't like the beans and coleslaw either. The in house baked bread was pretty good and so was the service. Placed an order for pick up. When I arrived to the bar, where I was told to pick up my food, they were unaware of my order. While the bartender went to check on my order several servers and the host were overheard complaining about their work without concern that customers were near. The dining area smelled very unpleasant, like stagnant mop water. I can't speak to the quality of the food, as my order hadn't been started though I had placed it 50 minutes prior to my arrival. I was told I could order something else and wait, with no apology or offer to notify the manager. I understand mistakes happen, I wasn't looking for free food, just common courtesy and professionalism. In town visiting and we wanted a good meal. This place was great! We had the sausage, brisket, chicken, turkey, pulled pork, and a beef rib with the sides. Everything was great my fave was the sausage, rib, and chicken. It was clean and had great customer service. Although it was busy we got our food served to us timely (we went on a Tuesday night). We went with a very large group and received horrible service. I never got a drink or even spoke with a waitress. However, there were 4 young women chit-chattting at the hostess desk. The wait to get a drink at the bar was over 10 minutes. (They missed out on some major alcohol sales.) Our meals were pre ordered so it wasn't what I would have chosen, but my chicken was dry. I thought the bread was flavorless. Once we were ready for our food they get it out fairly quickly. I'm sure the service is better for normal groups and you probably would like the food if you like huge plates of slop. read more

This place was a neat looking place ,but the bbq was terrible! I live in east Texas and have had bbq my entire life and this is by far the worst ever! The only thing that I would say was yummy was the homemade bread! The meat had no smoke flavor, the bbq sauce taste like nasty cheap Kraft bbq sauce, potato salad needed more mayo, the coleslaw was nasty with no flavor, the beans were dry and needed to be in a bowl with their juice! When you fix all of that then you might have some decent bbq. Way over priced too for the quality! read more

A party of three, we went with a lot of anticipation. Perhaps that's where we went wrong. One of us got a steak with a baked potato, beans, and coleslaw. My husband and I shared the 3 meat platter and got an extra of pork ribs. The food was certainly plentiful but everything was laden with their BBQ sauce and I think it overpowered the meat. The brisket was a bit dry, the pork ribs were well, pork ribs and the chicken was not spectacular. The homemade bread was not the way we make it back home there wasn't any butter on the table only margarine. The bill for three of us was $70. My husband and I shared a beer. A lot of people have touted this joint as an experience but we thought it was just so-so. read more

What can I say? The barbecue is always good as well as all of the sides. This is a standby for lunch and sometimes dinner. This is also the only place for you to get your Sunday barbecue fix as most locally owned barbecue restaurants are closed on Sunday. We came to this place to celebrate a relatives' birthday and we were pleasantly surprised. The place had plenty of character and the ambiance was very enjoyable. The food was really good and the portions were excellent. We all had left overs to take home. The service was also good and the bread was delicious. Awesome steakhouse, try the filet in three sizes, cooked just the way you like it. Marinated mushrooms grilled to perfection are meaty and a tasty companion for the moist and tender meat which is really flavorful (no steak sauce needed). Our steaks had zero fat or gristle, just 100%USDA prime baby! Patio service is nice if you don't mind a few flies. Service is prompt if a bit rushed. Waitress took hubbys plate away while I was still eating and hovered until he finally told her to just bring the check while I finished. A minor inconvenience though. read more

The service was wonderful and fast. I went there for lunch and ordered the two meat combo (the beef ribs & lean brisket with the sauce on the side). The ribs & brisket tasted very good. The combo came with a good helping of potato salad, cole slaw, and beans; I didn't touch any of the sides because I'm not really a fan if it's not made by Mom ;-) I also ordered the half homemade bread, OMG I had to stop myself from eat the entire thing. We went here twice on our trips to El Paso! It's a great restaurant for some beef ribs, they are HUGE!!! The only reason for 4 star is that the beans were a little too salty. We loved the BBQ sauce, really good flavor. Both times we enjoyed our dinner and had left overs for the next day. read more

I was on business travel from NC and saw this place. It's hard to pass a BBQ place being from NC; we like smoked pig! State Line was pretty good 'Q and I would expect to return here as I travel to Las Cruces from time to time. If I could, I'd rate it a 3.5 because I've gone to several BBQ places that were an easy 4 stars. This is a big place with a lot of volume so you can be served pretty quick. I went to Rudy's and I went here for lunch on back to back days. Both have good food and good meat. State Line puts the sauce on your meat they also have some good homemade bread. Rudy's has a couple of sauce choices on the side and rice crispy treats. Really it is a matter of what level of casual you want. State Line is a traditional sit down place with a bunch of longhorn decor with servers. Rudy's is an order at the front and pick your indoor picnic table spot to sit. read more

5star service....cute place...but this isn't great BBQ. We had a combo plate that had most everything. What was good was sausage, the BBQ sauce, and our dessert of homemade apple cobbler. That's it. Pork ribs had a strange sweetish sauce and wer not tender. Beef rib tasted like a good prime rib bone but not smokey at all. Turkey was kinda tasty but such a small portion. We just ate at state line BBQ in El Paso. One of the worst meals We've ever had. We ordered a lean brisket and a sausage sandwich. The bread was great but the meat was mediocre at best. Though the menu stated 2 sides came with each sandwich, we were told only one came with it, even after we pointed out the info on the menu, because we ordered "to go". We actually just went to their outside patio. That worked out ok, however, because both sides - beans and potato salad - were inedible. We threw them out. For our last item, we ordered apple cobbler and ice cream. When we opened the container, there was a small slice of refrigerator cold apple pie!! It was edible, barely, but not the apple cobbler we ordered. We would never have ordered apple pie. I will say, however, that though it was about a half normal serving, the ice cream was delicious - by far the best part of the dismal meal. Definitely not recommended. They rate themselves 4.6 out of 5. The highest we would give them is a 2 - for the bread and ice cream. Never going there again! Ever! read more

What can I say about the State Line? Only that it's the best BBQ in town... heck, the world as far as I'm concerned. First off, the bread is simply amazing; don't go without trying the bread. Second, the only menu item for me is the Country Style. All you can eat BEEF ribs, sausage, beef brisket, turkey, beens, etc. The food comes out extremely fast so you're arms deep in BBQ sauce in no time. My recommendation: watch what you wear unless you want it painted with red gooey goodness. The atmosphere is western and adds to the experience. It fills up on the weekends so be prepared to wait. The "famous" bread tasted dry and grainy, the Memphis style ribs were flavorless...the only time I've ever not finished a rack. Wife got a combo platter: Couldn't comment on the beef rib, I don't like them in general. The sausage tasted like Polish Kilbasa. None of the food had any smoke flavor or smoke ring. Can't comment on the potato salad, but the coleslaw was bland at best. Took 5 ribs home to our dog....He seemed to enjoy them. read more

Food was a little pricy HOWEVER it was some of the best barbecue I've had in El Paso. Got there around 5:30 on a Friday and didn't have to wait. As far as the meats go, it was great! Had the 5 meat platter with the beef and pork ribs, sausage, brisket and smoked turkey. All were delicious, i could've done without the turkey though. Tasted like lunch meat. The beans weren't that great, slaw and potato salad were pretty good. Filled me up quick! Lots of meat on the plate. The sauce left a little to be desired, maybe on the side next time. tasted kinda like a Heinz 57 sauce or something like that. Need a variety of sauces. If you get drinks, ours were a lot on the week side. Must have saved the alcohol for someone else? Oh and the service was great!
