This place is excellent especially if you like large beef ribs. There is an all you can eat plate but you will not be able to take home any leftovers. There is a three rib combo is incredible. 3 large beefy ribs, bread, a mounted of coleslaw and potato salad and a bowl of beans. I am a fat guy and I couldn't finish my meal. My wife also got the half rack of ribs and she couldn't begin to finish. There are other meats to choose from, but we really enjoyed the beef ribs. Our waitress also did a great job keeping our drinks topped off and checking in on us. Will return. read more

Thought I would give this place a go as it was convenient to where I was staying while traveling on business. I decided to go with the two meat platter, picking Sausage and the 2nd cut Brisket. Everything looked good and fresh. Portions were a pretty good size. The slaw, potato salad and beans were good. The sausage and brisket were cooked well, the brisket could have possibly done with a little longer cook as it was still slightly chewy but the big one for me was they both needed a healthy dose of seasoning, especially the brisket. The service was good, my server did a great job and was polite, friendly and professional. The restaurant itself has music playing and there are a lot of pictures and stuff on the walls. I was there about 4:00pm so it was pretty quiet but I should imagine they get busy in the evenings and weekends. read more

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience at The State Line. Our bread is usually spot-on, but it seems like we missed the mark the night you visited -- and for that, I truly apologize. I would love the opportunity to make it right. I'd be happy to send you a complimentary certificate so that your next visit is on us. If you could please provide a mailing address, I'll get that sent out to you. Kevin McGuire Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope to welcome you back soon. This is what I received from the owner, but I never received anything and never got a response back after initial contact. Not saying I know why things are falling apart at this restaurant. But time will tell. read more

Good food and service. Portions are large, so expect take home containers. Potato salad is amazing. Beans were much tastier this time. The extra charge for the 2nd cut brisket is NOT worth it. Mine was actually chewy, which was disappointing. The sausage is great. I wish they would make a spicy sausage. BBQ sauce is good as well. The vibe of the place is inviting and relaxing. This place has a full bar, if that is your jam. read more

The service was good. Decor was outdated and the food was below average. I was looking forward to having bbq as it is not my go to choice of cuisine. Our waiter Jacob truly made this dining experience bearable. He was patient, kind, and personable. The food was a huge miss. All of the sides were bland and lacked flavor. The beans tasted like they were undercooked and seasoned with taco seasoning. I prefer baked beans with my bbq. The coleslaw and potato salad were not good. The only thing I enjoyed was the sausage. The chicken and brisket were disappointing, lacked flavor, and did not taste like bbq. I would not go back. read more

Just barely 2 stars. The marbled brisket, zero flavor. The sausage, zero flavor. The sides, extremely bland. Our server was great, she was extremely attentive. But the food was horrible and there's actually a funky smell inside the restaurant. This place is definitely not what it used to. read more

Excellent food, many choices, great service. Seated very quickly and server was a pro. The prices are way better than California. They have an all you can eat family dinners starting around $40.00 per person. That's a deal. When I visit again, I will stop by. Forgot to mention, this place was recommended. read more

I'm old enough to remember when this restaurant was "out on the middle of nowhere" El Paso has grown so much that is there is a wal mart next door. The staff are attentive and more than willing to address your requests. The food is well cooked, the Brisket is tender, representing a solid reliable BBQ. Though, I like my sauce with a bit more spice. The servings are a decent size and we took home a doggie bag. I sampled the mushrooms, the queso (delicious), the homemade special bread (I didn't find it special), the brisket (tender) and sausage lunch platter (beans, coleslaw (average) and potato salad (also average, would have been fun with some New Mexico hatch peppers) and the soup (delicious). Like I said, if you want a solid BBQ outing, better than the franchise chains, give it a shot. But it's not going to knock over any James Beard Foodies It was too hot to sit outside and I'd like to give the live music a shot when in late fall. read more

The booth gave us lots of room to eat dinner. Service was excellent and quick. The food was hot and tasty.

Definitely the best barbecue place in Texas, and New Mexico! The State Line never fails to serve the most amazing food! Highly recommended! Great place to celebrate special occasions or just to enjoy a great meal! 5/5 read more

Every time we visit family in El Paso we stop here. Tonight's visit was great as always. I am allergic to mesquite wood so I need to make sure they didn't use it. The waitress didn't know but the manager came over to talk to us about (they don't usually). He even came back two other times while we were there. The place is cute. We will of course be back. read more

Compared to some of the other BBQ I have had in Texas this leaned more on the bland side. The star of the meal for me was the grilled veggies they had the most flavor. The brisket lacked smoke ring and flavor as well as the temp. The service was great & the ambiance was great. More of a place I would kick back have a drink and talk than seek out for the BBQ. read more

***check in to get free sausage appetizer*** Ordered the 2 meat combo with potato salad and beans. Lived. Those sides were so Delicious! I was initially bummed cuz I was hoping to get mashed potatoes, but then changed my mind when I tasted their sides! So yummy! Had the pulled pork and brisket. Pulled pork had some bones in it. That brisket was so good! Definitely get that. The free bread the other was warm and fluffy. They have their own honey butter which is subtle but good. read more

State line has been a decent go to spot for BBQ for as long as I can remember. Pork ribs are fantastic, their sausage is great, desserts are on point. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Today we got a lunch 3 meat combo with a baked tater, also beef ribs, pork ribs and potatoes salad. If you check in through the yelp app, you get a prompt for free sausage appetizer. We had a great meal, only thing for me was the beef ribs just didn't have much meat on them and no smoke flavor you'd expect. read more

I tried a few BBQ places in El Paso. This one was one of the best! Cool place apparently right on the line of New Mexico and Texas. I got food to go for supper. I was really happy with the quick service in the place. The food was really good. I got sausage, pork and turkey. All was really moist and flavorful. The Slaw and Potato salad were fine. The roll with honey butter was really good! Great BBQ place in EL Paso! read more

We stopped by for lunch today .. my elderly dad and myself. He's got some handicaps and I'm so grateful to the staff for making it easier for him by fixing up a place to eat in the bar area (after asking me) that was close to exit and restrooms. Made it WAY easier for both of us. Ordered the lunch ribs plate and Brisket plate and it was perfect. Bbq sauce excellent and our waiter (bar tender) spot on in kindness, professional and took great care of us. Thankful we were able to come in to a spot we've always enjoyed and experience such great all around service!!!! Thank you, Kevin read more

Honestly should be a zero. We got a server who was training and he did great but the food was not. We got this place recommended by my dads boss he claims the ribs fall off the bone every time he goes and we went and it did not ribs were hard and seemed reused just reheated. We turn to other tables and they are not the same. There was a party beforehand we literally think they gave us a burnt ribs that was meant for them and reheated it to give to us. As for when we got the final bill it was horrible! They automatically added a tip themselves of about 35 dollars, i guess they assumed we wouldnt tip and the server LAUGHED when we noticed this odd amount. IT IS NOT CUTE TO ACT QUIRKY! We still tipped in cash and left it was my moms birthday and we wont want to return. read more

I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired -- primarily due to poor service and a lack of basic customer care. To start, our server got the order wrong. Mistakes happen, and that's understandable. However, the way it was handled was less than professional. When the customer realized one of the meat portions was missing from an entrée, instead of simply bringing out the missing item, the server insisted that a couple of pieces of meat from the original plate be returned to the kitchen- came with a side plate and asked to withdraw two strands of brisket. This was a strange and awkward request -- I guess they would rather throw it away or maybe put it back! instead of just correcting the issue and returning the entire plate! To make matters worse, the older woman in our group had thoughtfully ordered a child's plate -- which was supposed to include ice cream. When she politely requested the kids' desserts, the server refused, saying, "That's where we draw the line," as if giving ice cream to children would somehow bankrupt the establishment and had been asking for handout from the beginning . It was said in a way that felt curt and dismissive, and it left a sour note on what should've been a simple and joyful. I can assure you if the table was with all White customers this would not have happened! read more

Their beef ribs are super. The barbecue sauce on the side is tasty and not overwhelming. I definitely will go again.

Good friendly service. Everyone here is super friendly and they have a huge selection of meats. Food was filling and good.

I am not exactly sure what to think of The State Line. I have been here before previous to my yelping days. I don't have a ton to analyze - the meat, BBQ sauce, and bread were good. Otherwise the sides were not the best. I should have substituted for the baked potato. I would return, but I would not order the charro beans, coleslaw, or potato salad on a revisit. The meat is good so focus on that. I will probably return. read more

I've been coming to the State Line every time I'm in El Paso for 30 years. The ambiance is fun, the service fast and friendly, generous portions and great prices. They do an excellent steak, but I nearly always order the beef ribs. They're super meaty, always perfectly cooked and have a nice crust. The sausage is also really tasty. I've never eaten anything here I didn't fully enjoy. If you're in El Paso, give this restaurant a try. You'll not be disappointed. read more

Tried this place out while working in El Paso. It was ok. I don't know if it's because I really wasn't in the mood for bbq or what? It didn't hit the spot for me. It was just ok. I ordered the brisket and sausage with beans and a side of grilled veggies. I will say that the grilled veggies were my favorite! I loved them more than the brisket and sausage. Service was good. The bartender was nice and attentive. The restaurant itself was clean and quiet. I had a late lunch so there was no one there when I went. The bartender did tell me there's live music in the evenings on the patio. I may give it another go if I'm ever in the area, but it's a big maybe. read more

Stateline is amazing. Food is always good. Service is always terrific and the surroundings could not be more hospitable.

Great barbecue & an even cooler venue...it's literally on the TX/NM State Line. It's really neat because once you leave the parking lot and walk thru the archway to the patio you're no longer in Texas anymore, you're in New Mexico, although you feel like you're in still Texas! And Good News, they ALLOW INDOOR DINING Now! (Covid compliant of course) Although you can dine outside but you won't receive waiter service & you're food will be served in to-go containers. So if you do not want to wait in line, definitely think about this option. We did and only waited 10 minutes to get our food as opposed to waiting an hour for a table inside. They have a great outdoor patio set-up, I'm sure with warmer temps coming they will probably start seating out there as well. The turkey and moist brisket were my two favorites. Both were tender and seasoned well. My buddy ordered the baked potato with chopped beef and it was a more than decent size. While I wouldn't normally think about ordering bread because it's not free, it was worth it! It's made in house and just worth the money! Thick slices & soft with a light sweet buttery flavor...hard to describe, but it was GOOD!! If you haven't heard of it, give it a shot! read more

My first overnight stop in beautiful El Paso. However, the State Line needs to be a last stop. Bland, tasteless bbq ribs. They look delicious on the plate and the price was great again no taste. I was approached by the manager he inquired how was my food. I said honestly no taste" I asked is this boiled ribs? he assured me, no that they are grilled for 4 hours after seasoning. The manager said come back in the future and tell the waitress my experience and maybe he would ........ idk what he said after that. Because not coming back nor should you. read more

Come get you a cow and chow down. Brought the family here for a great dining experience.

For the last 14 years I have been listening to my boyfriend gush about this place. So, when traveling from North Carolina to El Paso for the first time together, the first place we went was The State Line. We arrived just as they were opening, and we had our dog with us and it was starting to get warm, so leaving her in the car would have been an issue. They let us sit on the gorgeous patio. This patio makes me want to come back when they are playing music and have a meal and some beers. It looks like a fun place. Our waitress, Maria, was over the top nice and attentive. The service was phenomenal, and the food was even better. read more

Craving barbecue and the craving was satisfied with State Line. Started with Chips and Queso. Queso was cheesy and chips were crispy. Bread and Honey Butter were also served. Bread was warm and soft. I ordered the Brisket Baked Potato. It was everything I wanted. Also, ordered was a full order of St. Louis Ribs that were delicious and tender. Service was good. Beverages were served in a huge cup. Restaurant had a western vibe perfect for Barbecue. read more

We have been here several times and the BBQ is top notch. Service is always friendly and efficient, even when busy. The brisket is really good, even the lean is still moist and the 1/4 chicken is the best I've found in the El Paso/Sunland Park area. Their specialty home made bread is always a must before and during a meal. A great bar selection. Their Grande Margaritas are huge. In a regular goblet, but you get a shaker full of additional "juice". :-) If you haven't tried this place - do it! read more

Haven't been back to the 915 in 8 yrs. The only thing that changed were the prices. Yeah- it's 8 yrs. You can't go wrong with anything on this menu. You must order their homemade bread. You can get a half loaf or full loaf. Sooooo good!!!! The one thing that hasn't changed is the water. I ordered water and then I remembered- for some reason it is nasty!! Order a tea or soda with your meal. Miss this place. read more

Our server Alan was amazing! He helped us with the menu and was so attentive. We got the 5 meat plate, ribs beef and pork, lean brisket, chicken, and sausage. Loved the ribs the most, BBQ sauce was sweet with a lil kick. Coleslaw was A1, not a fan of the potato salad but I am picky when it comes to that. THE BREAD WAS SO DIVINE. The restaurant is split between 2 states which is really cool and has a western antique vibe. Will be back for sure. read more
