Was trying to order online, site kept going around in circles and not finishing the transaction. I never confirmed order as it would not allow me to either cancel or confirm. I got 1st order. Did not see who was delivering. About half hour later the door bell rings and the guy says its uber eats. My response was I already got my order. Driver says " I'm with uber eats, not grub hub". I responded by saying I did not order twice and did order from uber eats burnout paying for 2 orders. He states that they told him grub hun also had an order. I told him...I cannot paying for 2 orders. Take thos back and tell manager to call me. Apparently State line knew there was 2 orders and instead of calling to confirm I wanted 2 orders just sent both out. Not good customer service. I expect to get refunded for one order as it is rediculous that the yelp web site was not working properly and it comes out of my pocket because State line employees could not take a couple minutes to confirm there should be 2 orders. Especially when they knew and pointed it out to uber eats driver. State line needs to cover one of the orders and Paulo uber eats driver the delivery and tip. Not his fault. A bit dissatisfied with this place...was starving and ready some good food but the 2 meat combo plate let me down. Ribs dry and unflavored. The marbled brisket was a bit bland but better than the ribs. The sides of potato salad,slaw and beans made up from getting a 2.5 score. Restrooms was in need of attention..either pipe/water or sewage issue, it smelled pretty bad. Another gentleman was pretty much gagging. Bar area also needs a good cleaning as there's a distinct funk smell when you pass by to the restroom. My advice keep driving to Texas for better and cheaper barbecue. read more

We have come here before and it is always a pleasant and relaxing experience, but this last time out, I really took notice of the food outside of the ambience. I ordered the rib-eye steak at medium temperature. After a lengthy wait, the steak arrived medium-rare. It also lacked seasoning, as if they hit it with just a little bit of salt and pepper and laid on the grill. It lacked effort and care. The baked potato on the other hand with all the fixings was delicious. It was the star of the plate. The bread also was stale. For the price, I was disappointed. BBQ is my absolute favorite type of cuisine and I've been fortunate enough to have some of the best from East Texas where BBQ is like a religion. I tried both the pulled pork and marbled brisket here. The meat was solid but the sauce was forgettable and the sides were just okay. It would be nice if they had additional options to choose from. I was able to try both the apple and peach cobbler a la mode and it was superb! A lot of reviews here rave about the bread and honey butter and after trying for myself I can see why and concur. As an aside, I'm not sure they clean the booths properly here as my husband's pants stuck to the seat and left an odd residue. My family recently had dinner at The State Line to celebrate my son's 13th birthday. First, in a mostly empty restaurant (6pm on a Thursday), we were sat right next to the server station, not that big a deal, but would have preferred a table in a lower traffic area. Also, at that table, there was a bit of a stench, which seemed to resonate from the dingy carpet, but could have been something in the server station (I didn't really notice it anywhere else in the restaurant). We all ordered BBQ; "Rib King" platters, and "BBQ Combo's", and the BBQ was good; but the sides (beans, coleslaw, and potato salad), were all served at room temperature (I tried each, but didn't eat any of them). The St Luise style ribs were excellent, and cooked the perfection. The beef ribs were also good, but they don't remove the membrane, which is not something you want to eat and makes the ribs more difficult to eat. While we all enjoyed our meals (the meats anyway), for the price I expected a little better. All that said, the service was excellent, and my son really enjoyed his birthday dinner. read more

I will start this review with I am a vegetarian, so this isn't exactly the place for me. Came here the other night with co-workers while on a business trip. As soon as you walk in you can smell the BBQ, and it smells yummy! Service was great, the waitress was very helpful and attentive. The cool part about this place is there is a liquor store right next door, so you can walk over, pick out a beer you would like to try and they will bring it right over to your table! We ordered a half loaf of the bread, which came out nice and warm with honey butter (yum)! I opted for the salmon. It was pretty good. But I have to say, the baked potato was awesome. This is a great steakhouse with multiple choices of food! The food is great!! They have very big slices of bread and great burgers, steak, and ribs! They have a lot of tables with great waitresses. We had Sara, she was great! And re-filled our drinks promptly! Our order was ready in less than 5 minutes of ordering that was surprising and the only good quality about the restaurant. I had beef ribs and brisket. The ribs were dry and hard to eat had no seasoning it seemed like and the brisket was the worst brisket I've ever had from anywhere. The County Line BBQ restaurants are a good place for Fred Flintstone Beef Ribs, however this visit to State Line, was a disappointment. Come with an appetite! Great casual atmosphere. This place is worth the money. Start off with the house bread- nice and thick slices with some butter is a great way to start! Then order an appetizer-not because the portions are small, just because this should be a meal of indulgence. I personally always ordered a two meat platter. I like to stick to the brisket and sausage player but I did get a lil crazy once and ordered the turkey instead of the brisket -that was delicious as well. I can finish about 80% of my meal and then I always take the rest Home and heat it up in the morning for breakfast,along with a side of scrambled eggs. Oh let's not forget the beer. Ice cold!! ( I don't like any of them and was only offered plain potato chips as an alternative) The pulled pork tasted like it was leftover from last week and the "marbled" brisket had no flavor. We never got the "free bread", but if a bbq joint is "know for their homemade bread" rather than their bbq.... that should be your first clue to run the opposite direction. The menu offers standard barbecue fare- ribs, brisket etc. we ordered the baby back ribs- the meat was tender, but the sauce was lackluster. We also got the homemade bread (half loaf). As has been noted, this place straddles the state line. The downside for this place is, the dining room and bar are in New Mexico while the restrooms and parking lot are in Texas. In any other time, this would be nothing more than a novelty. However, during COVID, this has cost them a competitive edge. My son and I noted the El Paso street address and went there hoping to eat, we saw the empty parking lot and were concerned. The door was open so we went in and were told that the New Mexico line required that they observe New Mexico rules about indoor dining. So, at a time when El Paso restaurants are open for limited indoor dining, this place is to-go only. We felt bad. However, the food was outstanding (we took it back to our hotel), and the service was incredibly friendly and affable. We had the sampler plates which included lots of different meats and sides. I have gone to this restaurant since I was a kid (and when I use to eat meat in ABUNDANCE). Of all the barbeque restaurants in El Paso, I have to say, this by far is the best. The meats are always cooked well, and if you get the All you Can Stand, it is limitless. I would recommend the sausage, the brisket and the beef ribs. The tradition when we go is to get a 1/2 white 1/2 wheat loaf. This is more bread than we need, but it makes excellent french toast the next day. As you know, I don't eat red meat/poultry any more, but that doesn't mean that I leave here on an empty stomach. The fish and the veggie kabobs are both very well prepared. The reason I didn't give this 4 stars is I don't like their sides. The coleslaw and the potato salad both have too much mayo in them. For coleslaw, I do like it slightly sweeter as well. Also, while I do like Bluebell ice cream, I really do miss when State LIne use to make their own. Those made some righteous shakes! read more

I ordered the three meat plate which is served with beans, slaw, potato salad and their homemade bread. When ordering the meat I asked if the sausage was made in house and the answer I received "It's Earl Campbell. He was a good running back so I'm sure it's good." Cue the laughter. Well okay I can buy that at Kroger. I requested the ribs, pulled pork and fatty brisket with as much bark as possible. Exact words. Now what I ordered and what I was served are two different things. After some research from the menu, I learned the sausage is a special recipe made for them. I spoke to the Manager (who was very friendly and accommodating as well as the other staff) and he hooked me up with their sausage...which actually is Eddy sausage. The ribs were a-ok. The brisket was delivered as pictured above. Not one inkling of bark. And when I pointed it out to the bartender...he said he verbally told the cutter but instead of replacing it or asking if I wanted it replaced...I got nothing. Stuck with nasty, smoke-less and bark-less brisket. The wood used is white oak in a Southern Pride smoker from Tennessee. Maybe they forgot to use the white oak that day. Pulled pork actually showed signs of life. It wasn't bad. 1 star. When the bartender asked how I would rate their BBQ...I answered 2 maybe 3 stars but probably 2 stars. He replied "that's not bad" and I said "yeah it really is". I can't even finish this review. It's too painful. Although...their bread was awesome! There is the other star. So after waiting 3 and a half hours total( 2 hour wait to be seated) to get my food, it comes out looking amazing. Baby back ribs. I bit in and they were extremely tough and it didn't taste good. Huge disappointment. Will never eat here again. On top of it all, the manager was rude when I said that it was over cooked even though I didn't ask for anything else to eat or remake. Meh, I didn't get this place. It's packed, but the food tasted like something I could have gotten from a supermarket's freezer. Not to say it was bad, just whatever. The wait staff kinda ignored me too. Maybe it had something to do with them thinking I had a Northeast accent. Authentic Texan barbeque! Loved it! The restaurant is not hard to find cuz its basically along side the main road. Parking is not a problem. They have a cool ambiance, old classic theme. They have a wide space outside with stage for bands or live performances. They have a huge space inside good for group visitors or parties. They offer great foods! We ordered baby back ribs platter and platter of beef and pork ribs. Oh boy let me tell you, it was really gigantic! It comes with sides of mashed potato, coleslaw, and beans. The bread was served freshly baked. We literally enjoyed our sumptuous dinner. We weren't able to finish it, so we took some home. The price wasn't that bad. 23$ for the baby back ribs platter and less than 30$ for the beef and pork ribs platter. So it was really worth every penny. The service was fantastic, We didn't wait a long time for the food. The server was snappy, very nice, and polite. He knew what we needed. Ahhhh, how I miss this place badly!!! My favorite item on the menu: Loaf of Wheat Bread. Yes, yes, I know this is a BBQ place, but lemme just say... I never, ever leave without getting my wheat bread fix. It comes our so warm and fluffy. Slab on some of their honey butter, and let it melt in your mouth... YUM~! My second favorite item: Brisket... also melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Slather it up in the bbq sauce, and savor the tender, juicy, flavorful pieces of goodness. As soon as you walk in, your mouth can't help but water from the delicious scent of the meat. You follow the waitress through the restaurant to your table, glance at all the wonderful gloriousness of what others are sinking their teeth into, and you are overcome with joy waiting for what is to come. This is in no way Texas BBQ. They need to take this dog food on the other side of the "State Line" where yankees and Californians wouldn't know good BBQ if it smacked them. First the waiter didn't know what a "burnt end" was. Second and this is a cardinal sin... IN THE STATE of Texas... My "BBQ" (if you can call it that, I thought it was dog food) was covered, literally drowning in watered down tomato paste BBQ sauce. In Texas we have two sayings about BBQ sauce "Sauce is for the tourist" & "Sauce is used when you mess up the meat" I ordered the "All you can stand" on a Friday evening at around 7pm.
