This is Laveens finest Dive bar with two pool tables and a great Karaoke on Friday and Saturday. Also has a great bouncer that shoots pool damn well. The drinks a reasonable and have decent bar food along with a taco truck out front. I havent been to the new one but menu looks good and always see a lot out there. They have a smoking section in the back along with dart machines. The pool shooters are good for the most part and have a white board to keep track of who is next and its actually followed. Bar staff is great across the board but may have a wait late on Friday or Satuday nights. Drinks are reasonable and they renovated the bathrooms so it smells better and feels cleaner. There are quite a few characters for regulars but never had any issues with patrons. At last visit had a feisty inebriated lady hanging on me and trying to dance with everyone but everyone kept their cool and she was cut off. Burgers and fried food are great as well as corn dogs specials for you weiner lovers. As far as down sides for dive bars, I cant think of much other than no pitchers or mugs but do have pints. They also 86d good slayer songs on the touch tunes juke box but at least they have one and dont cut off sings, though it could be loyder for my liking. This bar reminds me of back home in Louisiana. It's a little hole in the wall where the lines get blurred and the rules don't really apply. The area is kind of small for the pool tables, so you're kind of trying to navigate hitting the ball and hitting somebody in the gut, lol. The men's bathroom was horrible for a few months. It literally smelled like the sewage lines had broken and spilled into the whole bar and it reeked. The men and women had to use the same restroom for a while. But they got it fixed. They have darts, but it's out on the back patio and let's just say in Arizona that's a recipe for disaster. Because dust is so thick on the machines you can't even see the screen. I saw the bartender lady literally walked out the door screaming at a customer saying, "suck my.@&$!" and throwing up the middle finger! All in all, the drinks were cheap. The people are OK, except for one guy who was just naturally a jerk, but I digress. If you're looking for a true neighborhood, dive bar to grab a quick beer or a stiff drink on your way home, this is the place. But my suggestion, just pay cash and and never open a tab, always close your card with every transaction. I've never had any issues with overcharging, but apparently others have. read more

This is a great neighborhood bar. It's friendly and welcoming. The prices are reasonable and the selection is pretty good for a small place. The staff is great, especially Tanya. I normally go in the afternoon and she works days. The food is quite good. It's bar food but it's fresh and prepared with care. Ballin' on a budget $1.00 pudding shots made by Sammy and the crew, full bar, burgers, pizza, wings and one of the best patty melts I've ever had on the planet. Reg and I have to take credit for convincing them to start carrying Tito's back in 2014ish. lol. Don't come here for kale sprinkled with caviar foodie pictures and craft cocktails. I first visited this little dive bar in October and left knowing I would return. The bartender was friendly and greeted us upon entering. There is a pool table along with small tables around the bar. Lots of TVs to catch the game. On our second visit we shared a burger and a Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Both were very good. I love French fries and these were just okay. The service was great. For me, that is always the caveat. Finding a great dive bar is fun, but if the service is weak I don't want to return. I appreciate the service here! We were there recently as karaoke was starting at 9:00 pm. It started getting pretty crowded and we left shortly after that. Outside in the parking lot there is a food truck (a different business) that drew a big crowd as well. I don't know what kind of food they were serving, but judging from the crowd it must be good. The place is so nostalgic to me. Definitely a hole in the wall, and a fantastic one at that. It's small enough to be cozy without being claustrophobic. Inviting L shaped bar, nice, friendly and attentive bartender, and pay for play juke box full off Garth and Reba. They make excellent iced tea that reminded me of Texas. Another big draw for me were the quarter pool tables. 50 cent a game and in good shape. Regulars were goofy and friendly as well. Bathrooms had funky mirrors that reminded me of the 80's. There are two lady bartenders, one is tall and another shorter and slim. The short one has been continuously very rude to me every singe time she's on shift. Cheap, cold PBR. Maybe colder but not as cheap as Bikini Lounge. But this is a different kind of dive bar, in fact I don't think it's all that divey anymore. Couple of coin operated pool tables with a bunch of bent cues, but if you snag the corner table before the joint gets busy, you can have your own little area to hang out without people trying to crowd you. "Outdoor" smoking area feels kind of like a prison, and fucking reeks. I'm glad they passed the no smoking indoors law in AZ, and over time I forgot what your clothes & hair smell like after a night with a bunch of smokers. Well, you'll remember if you venture "outside" at Spurr! Just don't go on Karaoke night. There are some fucking horrible voiced misguided karaoke singers that like to come to this place for some reason and it makes my ear holes hurt. That said, they do a decent job with bar food like poppers, fries & hot wings now. I was blown away when I realized they had food. Just wouldn't expect it from a place like this. Also, maybe it's just that I'm awesome, but I have never had to wait more than 30 seconds for a beer at Spurr. This has become my favorite bar in Laveen again. They were once the only game in town, and now that we have several other choices I would choose this one. They have a great jukebox if you like classic country and the like, as well as pool tables, a decent whiskey selection, and a patio for smokers and video game players. Plus, they have semi-enjoyable karaoke on Friday/Saturday nights. The only thing I found lacking is a good premium beer selection. And a huge crowd. Aside from that, they need only to turn down the lights a little, and this will be the perfect neighborhood hole-in-the-wall bar. Oh btw, I think it's also cash only, which is annoying. read more

I went in to this place for the first time recently and was very pleasantly surprised. It looks SUPER divey from the outside, but on the inside it is warm, friendly, and cleanly kept. It seemed like there's a lot of nice regulars in here and it was very unpretentious and welcoming, even to newbies like my boyfriend and me. The female bartender was especially nice and explained the food menu (yea, a food menu in a country dive bar!!) which was chock full of pleasers including Totino's pizza made in a pizza oven. The drinks were cheap and I appreciated the outdoor smoking patio. One thing I wish they could do at The Spurr is live music. It's a pretty small place and it seems like live music probably won't ever be in the cards due to space limitations. We went last night with some friends because it was recommended to us. Boy did I regret it. The waitress/cook was so rude she never came to our table I had to stop her and ask for a menu. She looked at me like I didn't belong in their little bar. She came and practically threw the menu at our table. Never came back and someone else did had to take our order. The bartender had to keep leaving from behind and come get out drink orders. Finally our food came out and the waitress/cook was back to deliver our food. She proceeded to just leave the food on table not giving it to the person that it belongs to like every other place I have ever went to. Finally I was like excuse be because she just set the food down and walked away. I asked her if we had done something to upset her or be disrespectful towards her for her to act in this manner towards us. She was like no I'm busy and walked away!! Never did we see her again not once come back to our table but she came back to the people next to us a lot of times. So I get she wasn't fond of us bing Hispanic because like she said we weren't disrespectful we weren't rude what other reason is there that our skin color is a little darker. Too bad because we live down the road and was looking for a good neighborhood bar. But I have never felt so uncomfortable and so disrespected in my life.
