It literally smelled like the sewage lines had broken and spilled into the whole bar and it reeked. The men and women had to use the same restroom for a while. But they got it fixed. They have darts, but it's out on the back patio and let's just say in Arizona that's a recipe for disaster. Because dust is so thick on the machines you can't even see the screen. I saw the bartender lady literally walked out the door screaming at a customer saying, "suck my.@&$!" and throwing up the middle finger! All in all, the drinks were cheap. The people are OK, except for one guy who was just naturally a jerk, but I digress. If you're looking for a true neighborhood, dive bar to grab a quick beer or a stiff drink on your way home, this is the place. But my suggestion, just pay cash and and never open a tab, always close your card with every transaction. I've never had any issues with overcharging, but apparently others have.

The energy in the lounge was upbeat and welcoming, and the ambiance felt like a cozy mix between dive bar comfort and lounge charm. Now let's talk about that margarita! Today, I was walking around near the ASU Downtown Campus and came across Seamus McCaffrey's. I gave it a try for lunch and enjoyed some tasty food and great service. While I didn't grab a drink, I'd certainly consider meeting friends after work there another time. I walked into the bar, and I was literally behind the bar where is was quite dark. Many of the bar seats were taken though I stepped into an area behind the bar where there were a number of open tables where I could seat myself. There was yet another room further back with booths and some creative decor, though I was happy with a table near the bar. The server came right over and made some great suggestions and introduced herself to me. She checked on me multiple times during the meal and made sure I liked what I picked. I ordered an item off the Traditional Favorites menu, the Chicken Pot Pie, which consisted of tender shredded chicken, peas and carrots smothered with herbs in a creamy white gravy under a flaky puff pastry. It also came up with a cheese stick. Both were tasty yet not too filling as I expected. There was a light breaded top to a bowl and then no bread on the bottoms or sides, but that was alright as I didn't need an over-the-top dish for lunch. While the prices are a bit higher than I would have expected them to be, it was certainly worth it, and I'll be back again. Seamus McCaffrey's opened in 1991 and brought a real Irish pub to Central Phoenix. It is a family-run bar that serves Irish classics and pub favorites. From Boxty, shepherd's pie, and fish and chips along with stacked sandwiches, burgers, and starters, the menu is not huge but still feels like it has a bit of everything. They have live music on the weekend and host special events throughout the year. The biggest celebration is its annual St. Patrick's Day street party on Monroe, a Downtown Phoenix tradition filled with great beer, great food, and a whole lot of green. Unfortunately, the experience with security completely ruined the night. At one point, I stepped outside for a few minutes because the club was extremely crowded and I was feeling overheated and overwhelmed. When I tried to come back inside, the security guard told me I could not re-enter because our section was "too full." I understand that venues have capacity and safety policies, but after purchasing three bottles for a birthday celebration, I was shocked that I couldn't simply return to the section I had already paid for. What made it even more frustrating was that I was told I would have to pay another $20 to re-enter during the last hour, even though we had already spent a significant amount of money on bottle service. Even having our host come outside did not change the situation. I understand policies are policies, but there needs to be better communication and consideration for guests who are already spending a substantial amount of money at the venue. If someone temporarily steps outside for air and has already purchased bottle service, it feels extremely unfair to treat them as if they are a new customer trying to enter the club. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling like the venue cared more about collecting another $20 than taking care of paying guests, the light skin African American security guard addressed this to me. I would not recommend spending money on bottle service here if you expect a high level of guest service or accommodation. Hopefully management can address how situations like this are handled in the future.
