Went with a big group this past weekend for my friends birthday. The karaoke host and bartenders were great. However, we're big dart players and they do have 2 dart boards. BUT THEY ARE HORRIBLE. And BROKEN! Extremely outdated boards, one of them takes your money and nobody uses it, its so close to the speaker, which should also be upgraded. There's only one dart board that actually works. On that one part of the plastic on the targets is missing, and half the time you hit a Number it'll register as OUT, making the game almost pointless cause you dont know if it'll count or not. It just seems silly to have two boards taking up space and they are old and broken. And this was a common consensus amongst others I asked that are regulars there. Seems like everyone would play more if they upgraded. Overall we had a good time, but everyone else in the area has updated dart boards that work! It would become a regular place in our rotation if they had at least 1 good board. But for now, we'll have to elsewhere. read more

The bartender was very rude I'm not sure her name. Heavy set lady. She dogged me then walked away then finally got back to me and said what do you want in the a rude tone. I left no tip for one corona and left. She then says out loud getting no tip for a beer bottle is great. She's just a bad vibe and rude. read more

I walked in around 4PM on a Saturday afternoon. It was fairly full very diverse and the music was great! The bartender with the dark hair was sweet and snarky at the same time. Made me green tea shots, koolaid shots and some other sweet drink. $40 tab $20 tip. She was awesome. There is lots of parking. They have a huge variety of liquor. The shots are huge. The bar is clean. The bar is great for small groups. Pricing is $-$$ The music is pretty diverse. The crowd is very diverse. They do karaoke ! They have billiard Tables. They okay sports on TV. Swizzle Stick is probably the crappiest dive bar I have been to. The food consists of frozen pizza, chips, and that's about it. The service is horrible. The bartenders act like they could give 2 craps about anything. They spend there time screwing around, hanging with regulars. If you haven't been there before, don't expect service. They are so slow, regulars complain about being able to get a drink. There used to be a couple good bartenders there, but the regulars say the owner ran them off. I have witnessed the owners screaming at their employees in front of the entire place. It's no wonder the place is dead. I know I'll never go back there, and I'll tell everyone I know to not waste their time. This place is a joke, run by stupid owners who obviously have no business sense at all. Ok... I love coming to places that has all 1star and 5's. Right? With very few reviews...you wonder why the discrepancy??! So from my ignorance(and an MBA in marketing). It's clear...this is a bar of locals. If you live within a mile, and come regularly...they will put your birthday on the white board, call you by name, and you feel special maybe. As for the walk in...sit down, shut up, order a beer...nothing else is available!!!! No menu pic because there is no menu. Let me start by saying the bartenders are great. About a year ago i was talked into going here night started great, then the karaoke host got drunk and was messing up then picking fights with people. Fast forward a little more than a year, me and my girlfriend go back to support my friend in the karaoke contest. By 11 o'clock the DJ is drunk, by midnight she is in the bathroom doing coke and offers my girlfriend some so we decide to finish our beers and leave because we don't need to be around that stuff. Before we leave she is in bar telling some guys to go outside and beat someone up. I cant believe how out of control she was. I do not see this place staying open long after what i saw, Even if it does i don't see going back. read more

I hope they don't take it personally, but this place blows. I appreciated the pool tables and the couple of games lined up against the wall, but when I just came from a place not too far that has twice as many (and more space, too!) I just couldn't be impressed. But let's get down to business. The bar was terrible. The selection was sparse, and disorganized. I saw a flask (What's a flask doing on a bar counter?) of Smirnoff next to a small bottle of jager, with a bottle of pinnacle butterscotch vodka on the top and center. That's just tacky. I was stuck on the butterscotch vodka for some reason, and when I asked what a good mixer may be, I was met with a clueless shrug and impatient stare. Yes, I know I can be clueless at times, but I feel the mark of any bartender worth their salt is the ability to be engaging, and have no shortage of ideas for curious clientele. It's how you retain customers and make your establishment a more exciting place to be. The patio is also awkward. The outdoor bar stools face a grill, but when no one is grilling you have only a wall and an empty elbow of a strip mall to look at. Booooring. So when my buddy ordered a nice little well drink, it came out pretty pricey for a desolate Monday night. I don't expect classy or popular bars to have reverse happy hours, but there are way too many dives that will give the same thing for less in a more awesome place, it feels like a waste of time. I tried to think of reasons to bump this place up to two stars. Apparently they are very active during the day, where whatever few patrons they have are excited for barbecue and cheap beer during the afternoon happy hour. But cheap food/beer during the day is easy as hell to find, and exists in much cooler places than next to a grocery store, and is served by much less apathetic staff. Wound up here to wind down the night last night. Was driving, so no booze for me. Karaoke night. Some decent singers, some horrible. Best song sung was a duet of "Piece of Shit Car". It was rather funny. They have multiple TVs, a lotto machine, darts, 2 pool tables and shuffleboard. Played a game of shuffleboard while listening to the American Idol auditions. This is my buddies bar and is friends with the bartender. Good mix of people, everyone was having fun. Am I coming back here by myself? Naw. Am I coming back if I'm with a group of folks who want to? Stopped in for a drink after my son's baby shower. I don't live in the neighborhood but had a half hour to kill. After patiently waiting I was informed I would not be served because someone said I was some kind of problem previously. I informed my bartender(she was cool) it was my first time there. She apologized and said I had to leave. No problem I said. Mistaken identity I figured and politely left. Should have ended there. Unfortunately I was followed to my car by a man that was stumbling a bit so I heard him behind me. Didn't worry about it until I heard him get closer and I'm thinking oh no I'm going to get jumped because some one has mistaken me for a bad person. So I turn around and this man says "they refused you?" I said yeah but no big deal. He takes a picture of me and my license plate. I say have a nice day and leave. Bartender said another bartender (who im assuming was there drinking in the establishment at the time) told her I was responsible for some trouble previously. I've never caused trouble anywhere... Ever. What's messed up is sending a drunk to follow me to my car. Paranoid wastoids at your establishment. Bad business to drink where you work. read more

There is a reason there aren't too many new reviews on this place. I don't know what this place was like in the past but as of April 2017 this is one of the worst bars I have ever been to. I get inside, smells, only about 12 people so not crowded by any means. I sit down and make eye contact with the bartender, she glosses over me and strikes conversation with the regulars, 6 minutes later, she barks at me, "THIS ISN'T A HANGOUT, ARE YOU DRINKING SOMETHING?" What a heck of a greeting finally..............way to set the tone. I got a beer reluctantly and I will never be back, Neither should you. There is just too many GOOD bars to go to. It's only been a couple of days, but Swizzle Sticks is getting better by the moment. I've now visited 3 times, and each time, they customer service reaches a new high. Not to mention, 3.50 pitchers (small pitcher.. but still!) These folks are about as friendly as it gets. I might just become a regular.. I use the dry cleaner right next door and it's so funny that even the owner of the dry cleaner, without my mentioning anything about the bar, started to tell me about how happy she is that they moved there, and that they are as nice as can be.. For some reason every time I come here apparently they need a calculator because they completely overcharge me for the drinks and also charged me for drinks I did not order when I finally confront them about it they are rude short and disrespectful to me and my wife. The only good advice I can leave for this establishment is that avoid altogether or make sure you double check your tab before you leave.... read more

Maureen was much too forward for my tastes I didn't want to go home with someone with that much red dye in their hair. I was flattered though. The bathrooms should have had drains on the floor, because that was where every one was urinating on. Most of the patrons look like ZZ Top roadies (and I don't say that in a good way). One patron was complaining about the "baby" cucarachas in her ice - at least her's were babies. All things considered this is by far the best bar in Glendale AZ. read more

I visited the Swizzle Stick this past Saturday with my buddy Kevin O. and his wife. I had fond memories of this place from about a decade ago when it was located a few shops down. My memory stood true as we had a great time interacting with the locals, sipping on cheap, strong drinks. As Kevin mentioned in his review, there was a fellow that appeared to be a regular peddling religious propaganda with his cute little dog in tow, however the bartender was quick to curb his preaching and even came to check on us to make sure we weren't uncomfortable. All in all, it is a great value and the people are friendly. read more

I don't go out much, but when I do, this is my go-to spot. The women that work here are so much fun. I haven't really spoke to the men that work here, but I see them talking to other customers and they seem friendly as well. Prices aren't bad. Pool tables, TVs going, darts, typical bar games. Karaoke night is the best because it does not matter if you sing like Adele or like dying cats, you still get an applause during and after the song. I've been to the swizzle stick a few times, and every time I was quick to make new friends, have fun, and treated great by the staff, except for last night. All the staff was very polite and courteous, except for one bouncer. After having a couple of drinks inside I decided to go out to the patio with my drink in hand to have a smoke. I innocently mistook the enter/exit door for the patio door (they are right next to each other) Anyway, that's when I was assaulted by who I assume was a bouncer, he had nothing identifying him as an employee. Instead of simply telling me I was going out the wrong door, or saying you cant take that drink out, he aggressively ripped the drink from my hand in a total dominating way. Being treated aggressively by a man in that manner I responded aggressively, then was thrown out. When my husband went to talk to the owner about how I was treated, he was rudely dismissed and was told we were drunks. In now way are we "combative drinkers." As a matter of fact we were playing pool with several people having a good time and taking turns buying rounds of drinks. I WILL NEVER return to that bar in my life, based solely on how they agree with treating women aggressively. The punk Im talking about, is young, with dark hair that's shaved and he was wearing a blue shirt. I may have been drinking, but I wasn't drunk and I will never forget that guys face. read more
