You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. My friend is vegan and she ordered the Living Color cocktail but she didn't notice the taro root cream, only after getting the drink and taking a sip, she realized due to how creamy it is. The bartender had no issue with making her a different drink that doesn't include dairy. But just know I'm not vegan, so down the hatch it went! I liked it as my final drink due to the desert feeling it has-- creamy and almost reminded me of an adult milkshake once melted a bit. Bar 1912 isn't much of a mystery. There are two entry points. Either a door in the back of the restaurant or a hallway inside the restaurant that's relatively easy to find as there isn't a door or anything in between the restaurant and the speakeasy. Our waiter took us there after our meal. Bar 1912 is nice, but just about average in terms of ambiance compared to other speakeasies. Part of the reason is that it's very loud (seats 30 people or so) and all of the seating at the bar are back-less bar stools (which I personally hate due to my back). I would have preferred to sit on the various couches/sofas next to the bar. Service (4.5/5): Friendly, attentive service. Exactly what you hope for when you're grabbing a drink (especially when they take a little longer to make due to their sophistication). You're provided with water without asking which is always a nice touch. I had to grab the bartender's attention once or twice, but outside of that, a job well done. Food (N/A); Since I had dinner at Valentine prior, I skipped food here. They have a small menu consisting mostly of appetizers (many, but not all, which are offered at Valentine). One option which isn't at Valentine, but which piqued my interest is the Sonoran hot dog. Had I been hungry, it would've been a no brainer. They have four or so desserts on the menu, and I had room for dessert, but none of them seemed appetizing. Drinks (4/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for creativity and an interesting blend of ingredients. You certainly have that here. There's a focus on Native American and Hispanic influences here, which is pretty cool, and fitting since we're in Phoenix and everything. I tried two cocktails, one was a hit and one was a miss. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to cocktails, and I know what I like, so I rarely miss. Unfortunately, it happened here. I don't know if it was because we didn't necessarily fit the typical demographic or vibe of the crowd there, and I don't want to assume anyone's intentions. It's a casual spot with one pool table and they had a projector screen showing a movie on my most recent visit. Service (4/5): You order at the bar. Service is typically efficient, though there is usually only one bartender or two working so if they're busy, you may have to wait a bit. Food (4/5): On my first visit, I had some food. They have a small menu, mostly consisting of Asian fusion dishes. Think things like loaded fries with bulgogi. Which was delicious by the way. If you're looking for a large menu, you won't find that here. But what they have, they do well. Drinks (4.5/5): I love a dive bar with quality cocktails. They have an interesting list of cocktails and I haven't had one I haven't liked. To make things better, they often have specials. And they also have Jell-O shots. And last but not least, Easy Tiger is where I first had sake in a juice box... you read that right! It's quite the sensation to drink alcohol out of something we associate with being a kid. Lets cover how you get there... as tickets & seats are limited release, Monday mornings at 10am AZ time, for the following Friday to Thursday only. Midweek tickets are available for seating & buying drinks only so spur of the moment bookings. But seriously recommend the Captain's table seats (which you can read below) 1) sign up for Sunday email blasts of the booking link (didnt work in my experience, but read on) 2) either get email link or wait for Monday 10am & next week of tickets (should) be released). Now in my first experience, neither the Sunday email or Monday morning release happened, maybe because they had plenty of tickets left for the midweek? Not an issue previously Yelped about so thought I'd add their customer service was absolutely wonderful & responsive to send the ticket link & helpful with allergies & setting up a birthday surprise. The ticket options are the following. $25 to get in, sit & buy cocktails & watch the other +-18 people get free cocktails & absolutely wonderful 4 plate small bites. As you can see from all the pics the food is fantastic & themed for the trip. The Captain's table tickets either come in 2 pack or 4 pack (seater tables) & well worth the experience. Now the website has a lot of info to read, one of the things it lists is a 20% "service charge" & that gratuity isn't included. Dont be concerned with this, ill mention it at the end. My advice to the management is to reword this sentence or it could be very misleading & a put off in this day & age as now I'm thinking i need to add 30-40% to the bill for service charge & gratuity... & believe me all the staff worked hard & are well deserving. About 5-10 mins before take off, head to the welcome desk at the Wren & Wolf, pick up your boarding passes & walk outside about 30 seconds around the corner to stand in line. Previous review talked about long waiting, didnt experience that as our doors opened bang on time & one of the Captain's checked out ID & boarding passes. We moved through a rather small beautifully decorated check in counter with period 70s time zone clock & boarded, to be shown our table. The interior is extremely comfortable, other than the 3x 4 seater Captain's tables, the rest was wrap around bench sofas & 70s low swivel soft chairs. As your eyes adjust to the dim lighting, the interior is all 70s wood, at one end is a full sized bar decorated with some chrome & lots of unique matching 70s style cocktail shakers. After the doors close, the stewardesses, dressed in 70s style single piece uniforms, run through a quick preflight take on the safety talk, while you sip on a welcome complimentary cocktail & nuts. Whilst at this point, our stewardess brings us our first course of absolutely delicious, mini NY style bagel, lox, lashings of cream cheese & topped with caviar; all whilst explaining we get 2 cocktail choices each included with our price. The announcement is made to depart, a rumble is felt below your feet & the LED screens (which you've not noticed all over, looking like large airplane windows) light up & the curtains are raised to reveal the Carry On terminal.... we taxi as the LED windows display a HD video of take off, all synchronised to the various angles & sides of the plane, meaning each window has a unique & different perspective of the take off. Our theme night was NY to Tokyo, so we took off, flew over Manhattan with the Twin Towers & carried on into the clouds. The whole time these windows are their own entertainment, finally circling Japan & landing. Next, 2 Japanese pot stickers with King Crab. Empty plates are swiftly cleared & its not long until our next course Next up, Japanese Waygu skewers eated around a shitso leaf. Then finally one of the best NY cheesecakes I've had, using crushed up Heath bars. Cocktail menu is large, all kinds of unusual selections & half way through the trip, the Captain announces, Its Martini time & the Martini cart is rolled out to all. After we thought we were done, my wife is presented with a beautiful Happy Birthday Cocktail & signed napkin. We'll if my wife is having a 4th drink, so must I. I was advised this would be at my own cost, which is nice to remind folks, but even looking at their alacarte menu, prices were extremely reasonable.. & we've just had 7 cocktails between us included. As the plane comes to land, you feel the landing gear extending & the bill is handed out. Tere is where you pay the taxes & service charge, but the bill lists "gratuity" & believe me, everyone & the experience deserves 20% here. Theres a chance to add a very small additional 3-7%, for me 7% was $6 & yes the entire experience & service, including making my wife feel special on her birthday was amazing.
