What an enchanting place! This is an amazing shop. Even if you don't care for tea, even if you are not a spice hound, this place charms along with the delightful Mai who was our help for the hour or so we perused, sampled and just plain stared at gorgeousness. The painted "carpet" on the floor alone is an amazement, along with a matching beautiful door on the other side of the counter. Lovely Buddhas and other visual treats grace this wonder-filled little shop. You could just wander around and look to fill your senses and be transported into something magical without paying any attention to anything gustatorial at all. That said, the choices of tea are formidable. And nearly incomprehensible (at least to me). Mai patiently provided help along sensory information--sample sniff, anyone? I didn't even make it as far as the spices! Incredibly impressive selections and so varied. And there are the accompaniments including what to drink your tea from: the choices of tea cups and tea glasses are vast, varied and so special. We couldn't help but buy more than our cupboard at home could bear. Highly recommended for a special experience--several, in fact! What a delightful wonder! read more

A cute little tea and spice shop. Tons of options for loose leaf tea and spices. They also have quite the collection of supplies for anything needed for making tea. In addition they have a walk up bar to order tea beverages, including bubble tea! They offer rotating flavors each month as specials as well as the listed ones on the menu. It was unfortunate that a lot of the teas and bobas were out of stock when I went. I was the last person to even get tapioca pearls on my visit. I ended up trying one of their June specials, Strawberry Champagne, that had the milk infused with their strawberry champagne tea. I loved how you could infuse the teas with the drink. As far as service, the two employees there were pretty helpful with understanding the store and what they offer. They were a great help with what to try and finding things in their store. I would come back again, but to treat myself. It is on the pricier side of things, but I do think the quality is there to justify the cost. My drink ended up being over $7 with tip. read more

It's honestly really hard to find loose leaf tea these days. I remember when you could go to the mall and they would have a shop at almost every single one but now it's just hard to find. Luckily we live in an area where people love tea. This was my second time here and I actually came for something specific but was pretty unsure on what to get. The person behind the counter was friendly and knowledgeable. They let me smell the tea leaves and gave me tasting notes. I was able to get just a few ounces just in case it's not to my liking and they gave me some suggestions for next time if I don't like this one. I recommend coming here and looking at the huge wall of teas you can buy and smell. They even have spices (obviously) for pretty fair prices. All the teas I have tasted aswell from here have been delicious. read more

I drove by it every weekend always thinking one day I will pop in to try the bubble tea ... years wasted not stopping in because now I stop in EVERY weekend to get the best bubble tea known to man !!! We stopped by here to get some tea after dinner. I ordered Imperial Drangonwell hot tea. It's not bad. I expected the tea to be little stronger to bring out the full flavor of the tea. But it's a bit diluted. The place is very nice and smell really good. They have a lot of variety and flavors, including herbal teas. You can buy loose leaf teas to take home. I wasn't planning on coming in because this place didn't look like a typical boba place. So glad I did because it was better than the typical boba places! It's been a long time since I had a freshly brewed tea for boba. This place is so good, smells so nice, and the staff is so friendly. Knew about this place but haven't stopped in, in years. I'm glad we did. We were greeted by the sweetest employee who was helping another customer on the phone, but acknowledged us immediately with a masked smile. Once she was free, she walked me and my son through several teas and helped us locate our purchase without any pressure. What I really appreciated most is that she didn't treat my son like a child, we three had a conversation, not just adult to adult, and side eye to the kid. The worst service I ever got. The lady behind the counter was very rude to me and my kids. She has a very bad potty mouth. I end up leaving with nothing. Me and my kids do not deserve that .I will never go there again and I will tell everyone to go somewhere else. read more

Need tea? Nead a few odd this and that spices for a strange cultural dish experiment? This is the place to go if your in bham. I went to culinary school in bham and a few times durring this process I needed to do a little home practicing, and that required some serious outsourcing of ingredients. Spice hut generally had what I needed and the people were helpful, I always came out of there with more than I expected to take with me when I went in. Teas, a few spices, and some dried tea flowers.. hmmmmmmm. Relaxation here I come! My only problem with them is that they were high priced as far as tea goes, not the highest I've seen by far but for the market in bham a touch steep. read more

The Spice Hut is located on the north side of Bellingham, WA. It's in the same area as the community college, Costco, and Bed, Bath, & Beyond, just north of the mall. The front of the store does not do justice to how fantastic it is inside. Once you enter, you can smell how amazing the store is. They have a larger selection of teas, spices, and accessories than any other spice and tea store I have been to on the I-5 corridor. (This includes Market Spice in Pike Place Market.) It's a fairly roomy little shop, with a large counter over by the teas where you can sample the smell of each tea they sell. An identical little bar sits over by the spices on the other side of the store. It's a family run business, and they go out of their way to be helpful. If you have any questions about any teas or spices they are incredibly knowledgeable. I have been going there sporadically for years, despite moving to Seattle, then the Everett, because the service alone is worth it, let alone the vast inventory. If you need something special they can find it, or make it. They blend a lot of their own blends right there. They also have a little bar in the back, where they make bubble teas, regular teas, and the like. The very back wall, and middle of the store is filled with accessories for tea, as well as spices, spice mixes, and some interesting doo dads. I highly recommend stopping in if you get by that way. It's worth the effort to look them up. If you can't they can do mail order, via the website, and are always prompt. read more

This place is cute and all but the pricing is so overly ridiculous. A small (20oz) Bubble tea is ~4.50$??? THATS SO EXPENSIVE! I have never paid almost 5$ for a small bubble tea in my life. Also, the flavorings tasted very weird and it left an unpleasant after taste as well. The tapioca pearls themselves were hard, not chewy, and they were also so bland. They had no flavor, it was as if I was chewing on rubber to be honest. 2/5 TOO EXPENSIVE AND DOESNT TASTE GOOD! Being an asian, I have had alot of experiences with bubble tea but this place is not even close to what it implies it is. read more

I checked online at Murchie's, Capital Tea and Willoughby's after I bought tea there and found the same tea at less than half the price. The Spice Hut is amazing. The owners and employees are even more amazing. Not only do they all know the INS and outs of every tea in their store, they are very friendly and generous. The owners were so kind as to provide tea as party favors for my wedding with 350 guests. In addition, we used their chai tea to serve guests during the reception. This was truly a most generous act and it shows what kind of people work there and run the store. In addition, their price is good and their tea is so tasty! Can't wait to go back and stock up. The Spice Hut is reason enough to make me drive from Lynnwood to Bellingham. read more

I have traveled to many cities from NYC, to Victoria, to LA and still haven't found a tea shop as great as The Spice Hut. The service is excellent. Every time I go into the store the people working there are always helpful and seem to really know and enjoy the teas. The tea combinations are so intriguing and tasty. If you love black tea and especially Earl Grey, you must try Amelie and Taste of Royal Tea. Kambaa Afrika is another one of my favorites. I currently live in LA and always look forward to visiting Bellingham and it's cozy little tea shop. If you are a tea nut like me, this will be your Mecca. read more

I very much enjoy this business. I travel to B'ham just to purchase their Evening in Missoula chamomile tea to help me sleep. It is an excellent blend of chamomile and other herbal ingredients. I also over the years have purchased many teas and have never regretted any recommendation I've tried. The owner is a lovely lady and very helpful and knowledgeable. She will identify what it is you're after, your taste palate and will pair you up with something that you'll be sure to love. I've purchased all manner of teas, black, oolong, green, herbal, rooibos, pu ehr, white and numerous blends. They have all been quite wonderful. Their stock is fresh and kept away from the sunlight. TSH also sells all manner of kitchenware to go along with making your tea, drinking it and serving it as well. I love their Life Source line of tea cups and pots with infusers. Their herbs and spices are fabulous as well. I love the Marsala curry spice and the different steak rubs they have in house. If you can't tell, I can't say enough good for this establishment. They keep a great assortment of all their wares and have sales at times that really help you stretch your spending dollars. All the folks who work in this business have been very helpful, they enjoy their business and are very willing to help you and lead you in the direction you need to go when making your choice(s) of teas, herb and spices and serving ware. I've been coming here for almost 3 years. I first came here to try a bubble tea. The girl told me that I can get it with fresh brewed tea so she recommended a blend of ambrosia white tea and vanilla coconut tea. She made it with sugar and soy milk with tapioca pearls. And I fell in LOVE. It was a light, mild creamy taste with a hint of coconut. The tapioca pearls were the best - not soggy at all with a perfect amount of firmness. So ever since then, I'd come here just for that. Some of the new staff would be confused and say "so we only make bubble tea with these flavors (pointing at the bubble tea board with powdered flavors" and I'd just tell them "I've been coming here for almost 3 years and get the same thing every time" as a friendly reminder.
