The bartender with the winged eyeliner is an absolute queen!! I love how decked out it was for Halloween and the drinks were delicious. I've gone twice this week while being in town on a conference and it was a fantastic atmosphere. The bouncer at the door is so kind and wonderful. My one fault is the other bartender who sat on his phone both times and did not help my girl out. Rude.

Found out about this place through TikTok and wanted to check it out ! They're open Wed-Sun and you need to email them in advance to get the password. Loved the vibes inside! Since it's October, they have Halloween decorations all over. They have a drink and food menu. I tried the Tombstone Margarita and Pablo's Deadly poison. Both were really good! Also ordered fries and mozzarella sticks for the table and they have many more options on their food menu. The manager, Jeremie, is super nice and friendly ! Thanks to him, our drinks were so good! We'll definitely be back! Thanks Jeremie! (:

"The Speakeasy" is located in Old Pasadena. There is a large multi-story parking garage right around the corner. The place has some intrigue as you need to know a password to gain entry. I was pleasantly surprised when I sent an email to the address on the website and received a reply with the password in a little over thirty minutes. After parking, we didn't have any problems finding the entrance even though it is not marked. Look for the big wood double doors and doorman standing in front. After giving him the password, he opened the doors and we walked in. We were surprised in several ways. The place is way bigger than I would expect for a place named "The Speakeasy". And at 6:30pm on a Sunday, we were the only guests inside. Only one other couple came in during the 30 minutes we were there. I would assume they are a lot busier on Friday and Saturday night. It is dimly lit, and very red inside. The bar is large with many bottles of liquor on display and many seats. The rest of the space is one large area that must have at least 20 tables, and the ceiling is high. It gives off more of a nightclub vibe than a speakeasy vibe. I tried the Naked & Famous cocktail which has two of my favorite spirits (Vida mezcal, aperol, yellow Chartreuse, lime, $18). It was nicely balanced with a good mix of smoke and herbal flavor. She had the Pablo's Poison (Altos reposado tequila, strawberry, lime, jalapeno, elderflower, $17). The jalapeno flavor really stood out with strawberry and elderflower in the background. They have a good cocktail menu with almost twenty cocktails, as well as a food menu with ten items. Walk up to the bar to order your drinks. Jeremy, the manager, and the female bartender whose name who I didn't get were nice. We aren't in Pasadena very often, and while they have a good cocktail menu, I don't know if we would return. We were expecting more.

The cool waiter of the restaurant next door recommended this place. When you come in the entrance you have to guess the secret word. The night I went the clue was a specific kind of food and we had to named it's three ingredients. They have two rules I can remember no flash photos and order at the bar. I came here to celebrate my friends bday and it was a nice bar where we were able to have a drink and talk without yelling at each other. This was the night of a world cup game and we were trying to avoid the crowds. They have no TVs and it's dim red lighting makes it an intimate environment. The seating are makes it easy for large groups or couples to sit comfortably.

The Speakeasy is a hidden cocktail bar located in Old Town Pasadena. To get here, look for the "New York Deli" sign and you'll likely see a person standing out front. You will need to reach out to the bar via email to get the password, but you can also get a hint from the person at the front. We got our hint and successfully guessed it, gaining entry. The interior has dark lounge lighting with tables throughout. I got the gotham standard manhattan ($16) which was strong and spirit forward. We came right when they opened so it was very empty, but the bartender mentioned it gets really packed and lively on weekends. If I came back and was able to guess the password I'd stop by when it's more energetic for a different vibe.

Very cool place, perfect for date nights or even to try the actual speak easy experience, they have a very good selection of cocktails and a full bar to enjoy any drink basically, they have tables that are open sitting or bar area. The place is always nice and clean, their staff also are very friendly and helpful.

drinks aren't great, bar service was slow, music bad, but halloween decor was cute. I honestly wouldn't go back

On the left kitty killer- don't remember the name of the other one.

Such a great place! Atmosphere was beautifully dimly lit, decor was perfect, and drinks pretty and delicious. Service was also very good. Would definitely recommend and cannot wait to go back.

I came to this magical little place with my girl friends to celebrate a birthday. Only the three of us but we wanted a drink to end the night with a vibe. Boy did we win the jackpot! We came in around 6:30. They had just opened but the atmosphere was ready! Dark and moody with candles on the table, it was the perfect spot to grab a drink and catch up. Jeremy was our bartender and he was fantastic. Super chill and friendly and made us some amazing drinks based on a few preferences. Our "bartenders choice" drinks were amazing, so much so that our "drink to end the night" turned into two drinks and some appetizers. We ordered taquitos and mozzarella sticks. Overall all three of us ladies loved this place! We definitely plan to be back! Let Jeremy make you a drink - you won't regret it. He makes them custom for you and he definitely knows what he is doing. *they do ask for a password which you can request on their website... but I would do that 24-48 hours before you plan to visit. We didn't have that days password and simply asked the front door.

Vanessa D.

This was such a cute place decked out in Chinese decor! It's absolutely a speakeasy, you need a code to get in so make sure you go through the proper steps for that. Go visit their website. It's a different name than what it is once you show up! The menu was festive as well! And they also had a DJ with some great music. It's fitting for a girls night out, a chill date night as they had food as well! We didn't get any food we went for drinks but it did look delicious! And parking was no issue, Pasadena has so many parking structures there's one right across the street!

The table next to us had ordered a brand-new charcuterie board and waited so long just to order their wine that they eventually left the restaurant without even touching the charcuterie board. Overall, both the food and the service were extremely disappointing. Waiting that long just to get someone's attention, receive our food, and eventually pay the bill is unacceptable. Once a month our run crew, Pasadena Pub Runners, meet up on a Friday in Old Pasadena for a few miles and make a stop at a local pub, bar, or restaurant. Every month we support a new location. Our July location was Tiki B's. We had never heard of it and had no clue it's been hiding in the lower level of Barney's Beanery off Colorado Blvd. this whole time. The reviews made it sound like a dirty, smelly, dive bar with a lack luster tiki vibe. We were honestly all about it being so bad that it was good. At least for shits and giggles. We ran 2 miles before making our stop at Barney's. No cover charge. The hostess directed us to the stairs that led to Tiki B's. The bar was fairly empty except for a handful of other patrons. It was semi dark but there was sufficient lighting from the faux ocean windows decor and tiki lamps along the walls. The DJ was setting up for the evening's open mic night. No bathroom smells for us. We walked in with 20 plus people all ready to love/hate the place. We were served pitchers of water right away while we perused the menu. The waitress clearly saw were had been running. Apologies for bringing in a sweaty crowd haha. Most of us ordered on to two drinks. A few people ordered food. We enjoyed our drinks, took a couple photos, and discussed our take on the place. Pleasantly surprised was the overall take away. We were a little disappointed that we didn't hate the place since we had expected the worst kind of dive bar. I rather liked it. I didn't have a mixed drink but others enjoyed them. I suspect the poor reviews are mostly from tiki fanatics. But us regular folks took it at face value and enjoyed ourselves. Bartenders were nice, attentive, and welcoming. The beers on tap were fairly priced. The menu I held was not sticky. It was a fun spot that you wouldn't expect to find in Old Pasadena, let alone underneath Barney's Beanery. I would come back with a big group for drinks and karaoke.
