I'll start by saying I've never experienced so many issues at a salon. I should have stopped coming after the first time I was treated disrespectfully. The blonde front desk manager has very poor customer service, which is also reflected in how she responds defensively to clients in Google reviews. On multiple visits, I've booked the exact service I wanted, only to be told upon arrival that there isn't enough time or that the technician isn't trained in that service. When I've expressed dissatisfaction, the manager has not taken accountability or offered any apology. Instead, my concerns were dismissed and the situation was shifted back onto me. I do want to acknowledge that several nail techs were very kind. However, I had a very bad experience with Chloe. She was rude and unprofessional during my appointment. I had booked builder gel, and she told me she does not offer that service and could only do Gel X. While filing my nails, I repeatedly told her that the drill was hurting my nails, but she continued regardless. She over-filed them to the point that they are now thin and damaged. I went to a new nail salon afterward, and they even questioned why my nails are so thin. On top of that, their pedicure service was also poor. They do not use proper pedicure bowls, the service itself is not done thoroughly, and they use tissue paper as toe separators, which felt unprofessional and unusual. I will not be returning. I've gotten manicures, pedicures, eyebrow waxes and eyelash lifts here and have been pleased each time! Using Vagaro to book is really easy and quick. Because it requests a card on file upon booking, they can just charge you on that card (besides tip - bring cash) unless you want to change payment method. I've booked the above services with Su, Eva and Rosi, and they have all been wonderful. All the staff members are nice and they always create an atmosphere that makes the experience so pleasant. The last straw was the receptionist responding to a reasonable complaint with: "Oh boohoo, you'll be so poor if I don't give you a $5 discount." Full story below: When I moved to the area, finding Spa K felt like a real win. Aesthetic, elevated and close to home. I was a regular since 2023 Then the quality started slipping. My gel manis began chipping in under a week. Technicians blamed the specific color I used, saying that bottle was poor quality. I asked if they'd order a fresh one and got no real answer. I switched colors. Same result. I eventually wondered if something was wrong with my nails, so I took a good 6 month break from polish entirely. Got my nails done at other salons while out of town after the break and zero issues. Came back to Spa K. Same chipping problem. I told them about my issue and they advised me to switch to dip powder. First appointment: towards the end of service, the technician tells me the color I chose isn't good and she needs to add gel on top. Why wasn't I told this before she started? I left with so many layers on my nails I could physically feel the thickness. Second dip appointment: different color, looked great, totally normal. Two days later. . . TWO DAYS!! the top coat started peeling. Within a week, the dip itself was chipping. I called, calmly explained the situation, mentioned that I have timestamped photos, and politely asked about a discount on a future visit. That's when things went sideways. The receptionist shockingly rude and questioned whether my photos were real. Suggested I could have been "scratching my nails on walls." When I explained that I had been a loyal customer for years through declining quality and deserved at least a good-faith response, she said verbatim "Oh boohoo, you'll be so poor if I don't give you a $5 discount." Three years of consistent business. A reasonable complaint about a service that failed in 48 HOURS. And that was the response. The space is still beautiful. But quality and accountability are not optional in a luxury service business. I genuinely wanted to be a long-term customer and advocate for this place. They made that impossible. I used to love this place, but today I called to ask if I could change my appointment due to the weather. And this is the first I call to reschedule. Instead of calmly explaining their cancellation policy, the staff member immediately became rude and confrontational. She repeatedly criticized my decision, told me my behavior was "bad," and dismissively said "so what" multiple times. I completely understand cancellation fees -- that's not the issue. The problem is being spoken to disrespectfully just for asking a question. No customer deserves to be judged or lectured for a simple request. Unprofessional attitude and terrible customer service. I've been to Spa K twice for manicures/pedicures. It feels clean and comfortable inside, and the staff have been professional. There's a wide variety of colors available. I have always been able to find street parking nearby. The most recent time, my gel manicure (by a technician named Coco, I believe) lasted over 2 weeks in perfect condition through a vacation involving saltwater, sunscreen, and other abrasive substances. They spray chemicals on your feet and then start exfoliating. No beer or wine offered though like the places in Florida. Even our dog grooming has that (haha). Very nice staff and easy to get in. Got a same day appointment on a Saturday AM. I got a great (luxe) pedicure from ROSI. I haven't gotten a pedicure for quite some time so I very much appreciate the amazing work ROSI did. It's a waterless pedi so no foot soak. Instead, your feet go in a gooey bag then wrapped in a foot warming thing (I know, I'm very technical). It's different, still gets the job done. Still get a short massage. (Again, ROSI was amazing for me. I wish I could pay extra for a longer massage). No massage chairs, doesn't recline too much (or I didn't ask/try). It's still comfortable enough. I felt warm when I first arrived at The Spa K until the nails started to be painted so if you get cold easily, maybe bring something light to cover up with. My nail tech, Rosi B, is also the same warm, polite, and highly skilled. She takes her time to do everything correctly but efficiently. The facials are so soothing and hydrating, the ambience is also great in helping to relax (e.g., low lights and music)! First let me say that all employees I as well as my daughter interacted with were kind and professional. I am disappointed to write this review as I had "high hopes" considering the reviews I read prior to actually patronizing this establishment. I received a gel manicure and regular polish pedicure on Friday, June 4th, my daughter the "fairy" mani/pedi combo. The company's site stated that walk-ins were accepted but that is not the case... an appointment is required. Luckily for my mini me and myself there was an appointment available in approximately about two hours, so I booked it. It was a little after two at the time so my daughter and I walked and ordered some lunch, ate, walked around a bit and returned for our appt. at 5:20. Grace (front desk, extremely personable and lovely with small children). Upon return my daughter and I we seated and services began, Cindy serviced my daughter. Eva (pedi) and Rosi (gel mani) serviced me. I am always weary when two people service you at the same time... ALWAYS, as this usually means "rushed"! That is exactly what happened. My pedicure ended with my left foot being soft and smooth and my right being rough and ashy (I did not notice this until moisturizing my feet Friday night after showering). My nails were chipped by Sunday and my daughter's nails by Monday. It is Thursday and my nails look as if I have been chewing on them for weeks. I am not confident in the quality of the products used and services on "some" adults are rushed. It is my observation that people who make an appointment the same day get the "two nail tech rush" services so that people who previously had an appointment get the "one tech quality" service. Another woman who arrived after I did who was a "walk-in" received the same. $105 down the drain as it's not even Friday yet ( a full 7 days after service) and I need to visit the nail salon again. Dishonest practices. They will delete Facebook reviews and block your phone number from Vagaro so that you can't leave a bad review when they know you will. On google since they can't delete the reviews they will comment saying that you're lying and that you were never there not sure about Yelp... we will see. The lady who runs this place only cares about money and is rude towards customers and employees. Maybe that's why none of the employees last long. With those practices, this lady will not last long. Just like the dry cleaners around the corner who were rude and provided crappy service. They went bankrupt. Luckily the new owners are great. They will schedule for services they cannot provide, because they only want your money. When you come back with a complaint or demand that they fix it, the lady will find a hundred excuses to not help you, because that would mean fixing something for free, and free is unacceptable for this lady. So I never do this. But what just happened to me definitely needs to be shared. I want to make it very clear that this was NOT the nail technicians fault, as her mistakes were unintentional. This was in every way shape and form, the owner's doing. Her name is Su. I saw a post on social media yesterday about which nail salon to go to in the Bethesda/Potomac/Rockville area if you're expecting (least amount of chemicals used, etc) and a few suggested The Spa K. So, off my fiancé and I went at 10:30 for our 11AM appointment this morning. That's where it went downhill. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised-- no chemical odor, beautiful atmosphere. They took care of my fiancé's pedicure in less than 30 minutes. All seemed well. The girl started my nails. I asked for the dip powder and an ombré they had advertised at the front desk, and the girl responded by telling me she didn't know how. Ok. I asked for French tips. She said she would rather do just a nude color on me with dip powder. ... ok. It was a disaster. She dipped half my nail in a clear powder. Then started dipping the full nail in the nude color she picked. She did about 5 layers and before I knew it, it was 1:00pm and I had 1/4 inch thick nails that had zero shape and were chunky and bumpy. She calls over the other nail tech and they call the owner. They all decide its so bad that it's past the point of fixing and needs to be completely redone. They tell me I can leave today with unfinished nails that look terrible (see pic for reference) and come back tomorrow. I'm hesitant to say yes because why would I want to go back to the same place that just ruined my nails? I expect they would only charge me for my fiancé's pedicure, but nope. They asked me for the FULL PRICE, PLUS EXTRA to cover the time they would spend redoing it tomorrow. What! I told them I would happily pay for my fiancé's pedicure today but I wasn't going to pay for a service that wasn't rendered in advance. I gave them my card to pay for my fiancé's pedicure. Here's where it gets REAL interesting. The girl takes my debit card, swipes it; PULLS OUT HER CELL PHONE AND TAKES A PICTURE OF THE FRONT AND BACK OF MY CARD!!! I said excuse me, why are you taking pictures of my debit card!?!? And she said that the owner told her to do that in case I don't come back tomorrow, in which case they will charge me a fee of $125!!!!! WHAT!!!!! She then proceeded to tell me she couldn't delete the picture in front of me because she needed to keep my card information for a while to enter it into their system later since I'm a new customer. I called my bank and cancelled my card. I'm still in denial that this just took up 3 hours of my day off and that it was handled in the way it was. The owner also chose to respond to my Facebook post about this in the most defensive manner possible. Yikes. Definitely won't be back again, and neither should you. read more

I have been to Spa K for my nails about five times now and I really love it. Trying a waterless nail salon seems odd on your first visit if you are accustomed to the usual pedi soak chairs, but the luxe pedicure is so nice, and they makeup for it with different things such as paragon wax, heated booties for your feet etc. Also every gel mani I've gotten at Spa K has lasted me about a week longer than gel manis I get elsewhere. Not sure if due to not soaking or what but it's awesome. I really enjoy that the staff can do nail art as well. I've had someone different everytime and each staff member has done a great job. It's a quiet and on the small side salon, so definitely make an appointment online. I am used to walking in to what was my old salon but I always make an appt for Spa K on their site. First time trying this nail salon before my wedding a few weeks ago. We called and made reservations for 2 and they explained the different types of service they offer. I would recommend doing the luxe pedicure it's really worth it and is very relaxing. It was also my first time doing a gel French manicure and I was really happy with it and it lasted a while. I don't normally get my nails done but because it was a special occasion I had to lol. I'll definitely be going back before my next major event or vacation. Absolutely gorgeous! I hope I found my new nail spot because this place checks off all the boxes: beautifully designed, parking is free and relatively easy, fair prices, and conveniently close to home. The owner, Ms. Sue, is wonderful and made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. I soon realized that I recognized her, and remembered that I use to faithfully bring my mom to her for eyelash extensions at another shop. Sue is amazing with eyelash extensions, and waxing, so I can just imagine that her shop will be phenomenal! During my visit, I experienced my first waterless pedicure. Basically, no soaking of the feet in a tub, primarily for sanitation reasons. They first apply a creamy thick masque to the feet, then place them in a plastic bag (similar to a paraffin treatment), and then additionally place the foot in a heated insulated foot mitten. Afterwards, they remove the masque with a hot towel, scrub off now soften callous, apply a light sugar scrub, which is also removed with a hot towel, and then finally apply a lotion with a relaxing foot massage. My feet are still soft and moisturized...so this method truly works. And They do offer additional treatments if your feet are really dry..that are still waterless but I believe are still effective. With all that said, I look forward to returning for my waterless gel manicure and other services! It was a great and impromptu first visit, and I highly recommend The Spa K! read more

I needed a massage. Not wanted. Needed. I booked an appointment with Anna for the next day. She was on time and ready for me at the time of my visit. I'm 5'8" and a little heavy. I looked at her short slim stature and thought, I hope she has good strong hands! Never judge a book by its cover. Anna has been a massage therapist for 7 years. I have fibromyalgia. There are places I need to be massaged hard and other areas, not as rough. Before the pandemic I got frequent massages and I could tell she was experienced by where she rubbed. She has perfect understanding of anatomy, technique, strength, and exact pinpoint accuracy. I got a 1 hour massage and even though I was sore in places the next day, the day after that I was fine. I was much looser! I feel I have found my new massage person. If there were any negatives it was not with Anna's service. The room I was in was not made to block sound at all. I could heard the music from the rest of the salon and some conversations. When people laughed, it echoed. Anna tried to turn music on in the room but had trouble adjusting it and gave up so she could stay on time. I can relax pretty easily, so this didn't bother me too much but others might not like it. read more

I got my dip powder nails from Gahyun today, and I am really happy with my nails! She is amazing, she is absolutely friendly and did make my nails so pretty and tidy. Also she helped me select gorgeous colors for winder theme. Even though it was dip powder, my nails are very thin layered finished and I love it. The entire atmosphere was very comfortable and clean, all staffs were very friendly. The price was very reasonable. Also, the removal is free if your nails have been done at this shop. I'm almost tempted to selfishly not write a review because I don't want to compete for reservation slots but I have nothing but praise for their esthetician, Elizabeth. I have had regular facials for a couple of years now, but in New York, and can say Elizabeth comfortably measures up to my favorite NY estheticians. Elizabeth works only a few days a week but gives the best face massages - they aren't the kind that will put you to sleep, but the kind that will relax you while still firming up your jawline. I've had maybe 6 facials with her at this point and am always happy with the results. Elizabeth is incredibly thorough, considerate and professional - can't recommend her enough! As for the spa itself, I've never gotten a manicure or other services but the staff all seemed nice and the place is spotless. One thing I wish could be different is having a closed ceiling in the facial room - the ceiling is open/shared with the rest of the space so I can pretty clearly hear conversations and music coming from the cash register/manicure areas. I went to The Spa K yesterday in the place of my normal salon because of a time conflict and they were able to accommodate the time I needed. However, I will not be going back. The receptionist was very sweet but my nail tech was not personable. This was my first experience there, I would assume some of their practices would be explained to the customer. They use a waterless method, which is fine, however it was never explained how their process works. I read the info briefly on their website, but when I asked Anna Y. (the tech) she just said "oh the water isn't good, dries out your nails". I received a classic gel manicure (I think?). There were times it was painful when she was filing down my cuticle. I felt rushed during the entire manicure and she was not careful. I would try to keep my hand up to prevent it from touching the towel and messing up the nail but she would let it touch the touch and then have to reapply the coat of gel polish. She struggled with my nail design and I was just uncomfortable overall. I let the receptionist know about my experience and she apologized but barely acknowledged what was said. I am so torn, for I love Spa K and have been going since they opened. It feels super luxe when you are there, so beautiful. I enjoy the waterless pedi very much. However, my last three visits left me bummed: polish started chipping on fingers and toes alike the next day. The service also felt more rushed than what I have previously experienced. Su's facials are AH-mazing, and I have had great massages, too. But the noise from the salon seeps into the room, so I can't quite get the completely relaxing spa experience I crave.
