Does the store have soap-making materials?

We do not. The only raw materials we carry are shea butter, beeswax, and some oils.

It's nice that there finally is a zero waste store in San Jose and it's also right next to my job.

When we arrived the aura of the place was insane! So cozy and calming. Bryan or Brian (didn't ask the correct spelling) was our facilitator for our event. When I saw he was spectacular, that's an understatement. He was patient, knowledgeable, charismatic and overall the proctor of a memorable experience. We had so much fun blending and creating our candles. Initially I thought this would be a fun one time only experience, but I cannot wait to come back to make something else!

Various scents prepared to be mixed in a small vial, tables set up beautifully with love-themed decor, and simple instructions written out along with friendly staff ready to assist if needed. It was a fun little activity to do together while trying out a variety of scented liquids (i.e. citrus sands, jasmine, amber & plum) using tiny labeled bottles and pipettes. I loved having the freedom to be creative, though mine ended up being kinda simple and was definitely fruity, heavy on the smells of cranberry, apple, and orange. Apparently Ashy Aromas also makes customized scented candles through a similar process, a unique experience that can be booked at their actual place of business in SJ.

The space is beautifully designed and has such an elevated, calming atmosphere that makes browsing a pleasure. I had the pleasure of being helped by Noah, who made what I expected to be a quick shopping trip into a really enjoyable experience. After learning I was looking for Citronnelle, he introduced me to the new Summer Collection Citronnelle & Géranium Body Gel. I was hooked. It captured everything I love about the fragrance while feeling fresh, sophisticated, and perfect for summer. It's something I never would have discovered if he hadn't taken the time to understand what I was looking for. What stood out most was how thoughtful and genuine the service felt. Noah was knowledgeable, answered my questions with confidence, and offered recommendations that matched my preferences without ever making me feel pressured to buy more. It felt like he genuinely wanted me to leave with something I'd love. The entire boutique reflected that same level of hospitality. Every interaction I observed between the team and other guests was warm, attentive, and professional. It's clear that creating a memorable customer experience is a priority here. Thank you, Noah, for making my visit such a positive one. Your product knowledge and thoughtful recommendations made all the difference. I'll definitely be back.

I was absolutely shooketh and super appreciative of this (first time in my life this has ever happened) and by how much time she dedicated to let me pick my birthday candle and tell me about upcoming scents and events. The whole visit seriously made my day after a super busy work week. Shout out to the team at this boutique- y'all are the best!!

When you arrive, the staff are super welcoming and walk you through the candle-making process step by step. It's beginner-friendly, so even if you've never done anything like this before, it's easy to follow along. There are tons of scents to choose from and you can mix and match a few to make something unique, or pick one signature scent you love. You also get to control how strong or subtle the fragrance is, which is a nice personal touch. The space itself is clean, well-organized, and smells amazing! Plan for about two hours total: the first hour is for scent choosing, instructions, and pouring your candle, and the second is for drying time. During that time, you can explore nearby shops or grab coffee in downtown Mountain View. When you come back, you can decorate your candle with labels or small touches to make it gift-ready or keep for yourself. Overall, it's a relaxing, creative experience that's perfect for date nights, small group outings, or even solo time if you want to unwind and make something special. Highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for a fun, hands-on local activity!

Would not have gone in had I not called ahead and found out that they had exactly what I needed. Good service. Had what I needed. Will go back. Longer version... So I'm on a mad search for some copal to burn in place of frnakinsense and myrrh to show the kids of my church something close to what the mythical magi brought to baby Jesus. It has to be real copal (or real fankinsence/myrrh) as I'm allergic to chemical scenting agents. I look all over the internet and find web based stores, but no brick & mortars in the south bay and I need it in 2 days. I put out two different talk threads on yelp to try to get some advice, but hors go by with no response...So I begin calling around to stores I see on the web, but who don't have internet sites. I call a couple who do not have copal and then hit Santa Josefina. So I get into my car and take the 15 mile treck from work to this store. I drove past it once because there is no outside sign saying "Santa Josefina," and there is no address printed on the building. On my second pass I deduced that since the building on one side was two numbers higher and the one of the other side 2 numbers lower that this must be it. I found parking a block away and as I approached I knew I was in the right place. I saw every order of Catholic Saint and ritual items. The sales clerk (owner?) was sitting somewhat in the back of the store. I told her that I need copal and she says, "Oh, yes." Then I notice that she has frankincense and myrrh. So I buy all three. She kindly tells me that she has sage, too, which is good for smuding at the New Year, but I tell her I have some at home. I ask if she'll take a check and she says, charmingly, "As long as it won't bounce. I stopped taking checks for a while, you know how it is." I assured her that it won't bounce. The neghborhood and store have lots of things that typical WASPY protestants (as I can seem) would not recognize and might make some less open people uncomfortable. But she was the nicest person and very helpful. She was happy that she had what I needed and said she looks forward to seeing me again. This may very well become a regular place for me to seek out ritual items. And the cross-cultural experience makes it that much more charming to me.
