A fun experience for a date night, team building, celebration where you reserve the space for a couple of hours while making a custom candle and waiting onsite for the finishing touches. Space is cute, bright with limited containers (unless you bring your own). Owner is friendly and quickly guides you thru a 15-20min process of: :: Choosing a container :: Pick your scent :: Add a wick Then off to the large melting pot station where the instructor will assist in adding melted wax into your vessel as you stir to distribute the scent. Yeah that quick! We had the option to hang out or come back in an hour for the wax to set. So we ventured to Downtown Mountain View to have dinner and kind of laughed how quick that class is. I know there's not much but I can see it being a great spot for hosting an event there where you hang out and nosh on your own goodies while you wait. After an hour it's about 10mins of adding embellishments of dry flowers, gems. Therapeutic and fun process along with seeing the resident Pom. So cute. Price: $55 for a custom candle. Book your class online, easy-peezy

We recently did the candle-making workshop this past Sunday to celebrate my bestie's belated birthday. I first heard about this place last year when she was giving me of a couple options for what I wanted to do for my birthday celebration. It was pretty easy to book online, and then we had to change the day since she had her daughter's soccer game on the day that I originally booked. So she called to change the day, which was pretty easy. We chose the noon time slot, and we were walked through each step by this nice lady who was very knowledgable about candles. Haha... We ended up choosing two scents each for our candles. Mine was red currant + bamboo while hers was lavender + bamboo. They smelled really lovely! After we poured the hot soy wax, we went out to lunch to Vida which was about 15 minutes walk from there on Castro. We had a yummy lunch, and then we returned back after a couple hours to finish decorating our candles. Overall, it was a cute and lovely time to create our very own candles. If you're into candles, then this is a definitely a must for you! It would be a cute date idea or something to do a with friends/family. :)

It was such a fun process to make our own candles! You get to choose your own vessel, create your own scent by mixing up to 2 scents, then mix in the hot wax with the scents you chose. While you wait for the candles to set, you can go walk around or get lunch in downtown Mountain View. It's in such a nice location since it's walking distance! It takes 1-2 hours for it to set. Then when you come back you can decorate your candle. It's approximately $55 per person, but it's a nice activity to do for a date night or nice occasion!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We recently held a 13th birthday party for our daughter with a group of 17 friends, and we all had a great time! The owner, Jacqui, was so helpful and so sweet with setting up the event from start to finish. She was also amazing at guiding all of the girls into making their own candles. The space was clean, nicely decorated, and well lit from the natural light coming from the windows. Our party was for 2.5 hours which was more than enough time. We brought our own food and cake, so the girls got to hang out and eat as they waited for the wax to dry so they could decorate it. It was just a wonderful experience to create candles. I definitely would come back either for myself or for a group event. Thanks Jacqui for a beautiful, memorable event!

My friend easily made online reservations for a group of 5 for Sunday at 12pm and prepaid. When we arrived, we were surprised that this beautiful shop was tucked in a residential block but it made for such a pleasant experience. Plenty of street parking on the tree-lined block. We were immediately greeted when we entered. Jackie [Jacky?] the owner was phenomenal! She's so sweet, a great conversationalist and patient with our group explaining how everything works. There were multiple small parties (2-4 people) so we patiently waited for our turn to be guided. I liked how Jackie took the time to address groups separately rather than doing a mass meet and greet overview. We never felt rushed. You get to pick your own candle container, you can pay the difference if you want to upgrade your container to some cute vessels. At your station, you'll get some candle wicks (wooden wicks might be available if you check in with Jackie), a lovely CA warning sticker (Jackie's totally by the books, which we love), a Popsicle stick to use and additional candle making tools. You get to pick and concoct your own formula with the scents available (Jackie rotates by the season) with 2 scents. Once you've made your signature scent, you get to go to the soy wax station to mix in your fragrance. You'll need to prepare yourself about 1-2 hours for your candle dry and return for designing/decorating. My group headed over to Cafe Terrace, a few blocks over for a late lunch, and returned to find our table with florals, mini designed candle pieces and stones to use. Jackie heated up the top of your candle for you to add your decorations. She also walked us through how to burn our candles for the best burn. Looking back, we spent triple the time mixing our scent vs designing. Great fun group experience!

*First time review* My coworkers wanted to do a fun team building event and we decided to do candle making and grab dinner after! As a few folks mentioned, it is 1.5 hours for your candles to dry. There's plenty of things to do near by while you wait. Parking is awesome here! While it's next to downtown, there is plenty of street parking. Ok! About the candles and experience. First things first, the owner Jacqui is totally a rock star! So fun to chat with, loves what she's doing and set her store up so cute. She walked us through the process and we had fun smelling all of the scents! I highly recommended mixing pomegranate and red currant. Despite having a big group of 9, we were all given attention and care when here. The variety of candle vessels is always amazing!!! She has something for everyone. I'd also like to call out the wood wick, that's really neat and cute. I can't wait to bring my mom here and my friend!

Recently came on a Friday evening after reserving a spot on their website! No other parties were there when we came so it felt like a private class. Street parking nearby (usually not crowded). Space was super cute, clean, and spacious!! The lady who helped us was really nice and explained everything perfectly! Picked out a jar for the candle with a bunch of options on the wall. Then she had us stick the wicks in (2 wick candles to ensure even burn). Picking out the scents was the funnest part!! She showed us how to smell a mix of 2 scents too- that was interesting! I personally thought the sangria and sandalwood was the best combo if you want a mix of fruity and a little warm depth! Then we had to mix the scents and wax together. Was told to come back in 30-45 mins to add the final decorations to our candles. After 30-45 minutes, our candles were pretty much set and we had to preplan our design on the table. Then we put everything in place after the lady melted the top of the candle with a torch. This was also the fun part where you get to be creative! There's a wall of samples to get some inspiration. Overall, really enjoyed this experience!! Would definitely recommend (:

Tried out this candle making class with a group of friends and had a great time! It was pretty much empty when we went which made it feel like it was a private event for us! The candle making process took about 2 hrs total. They first had us choose our candle holder. They had a pretty big selection and 2 different sizes. Then they had us choose/mix scents. It was fun to be able to choose between a lot of different scents and they had classic and special holiday flavors! Once we mixed our scents we poured the wax into the candle and set the wicks. There was then about an hour of waiting during which we left to grab some food and came back. We then got to decorate the top with cute florals/crystals. Overall it was a fun and fairly simple process. Definitely a great activity for a group of friends! Everything was very clear and organized as well!

So much fun creating our own personalized candle! We were greeted by the friendly hostess who walked us through choosing a vessel, placing the wicks, personalizing our scents etc. Be advised that the wait between pouring the candle to drying is around 1.5hr, so we walked into town (4-5blocks) and grabbed a late lunch to kill time.

We spent an afternoon at the Mountain View Candle Company to celebrate my daughter's 14th birthday and we already can't wait to go back! I reached out to schedule the party about 6 weeks before and Jacqui responded right away with information about the timing for the party, pricing, and availability. We selected a date and Jacqui sent an invoice via PayPal to secure the date. We arrived early on the day of the party and were able to set up snacks and desserts on a free table. We loved how the store was decorated, it was so festive in there! While there were other guests who stopped in to pick up candles, we basically had the space to ourselves for the entire period. Jacqui was such a gracious hostess and did a great job leading us all through the process. She answered all of our many questions with patience and she was very helpful. There were many options for the glass vessels for the candles. I love that Jacqui uses higher quality soy wax and clean essential oils. I also appreciate that she encouraged us to exercise restraint with the essential oils by limiting the girls to two scents. It was a very hands-on process, as we measured the essential oils and mixed them into the wax to perfect the scent before pouring our own candles. Jacqui gave us a lot of helpful tips about burning the candles. While the candles set, we had time to enjoy the snacks and cupcakes we brought in, and my daughter opened her gifts. I love that we had this option as it would have been a little difficult to herd ten girls around otherwise. It was wonderful to chat with Jacqui as well, she is such a sweet person and we are happy to support her business. Before leaving, everyone decorated their candles and Jacqui bagged them up to go home. Thank you, Jacqui, for all of your help and your hospitality! We appreciate you!

Gorgeous venue, ambiance, scents and materials to choose from! Highly recommend! :0)

We had a fantastic time taking our friend here for her Birthday Celebration! Thank You Jackie for making it a fantastic and fun day of learning how to make our own scented candles! :0) I highly recommend MV Candle for your next fun outing by yourself or with Friends and Family. Beautiful items and variety of scents to choose from. Relaxing, bright and welcoming studio! Once you set up your candle, you can run errands or eat out for 1hr while the wax sets, when you return, you need to choose your decorations of tiny flowers and/or mineral stones. Don't add too many, you don't want to start a fire upon using your candle! :0) Can't wait to return! Thank You for this fantastic, fun and memorable activity! :0)

My team and I had so much fun making candles at Mountain View Candle Company! The materials are very high quality and we loved being able to mix our own scents. The store is about a 10 minute walk from downtown Mountain View so we got to enjoy dinner and drinks while our candles dried. Overall a wonderful experience!

** class length can vary depending how long you take to choose your scent and create the top decor. Candle Making Class took us about 3hrs total (includes 1hr wait in between - see breakdown below) because we were taking our time. Easily booked appointment online! East street parking available - few blocks from downtown Mountain View! Our instructor, Jackie, was amazing! So kind and knowledgeable. Gave clear instructions Enjoyed the process of making my candle. Great jar selection! Depending how big of a jar you choose you would be doing a single or double wick candle. 1. Choose Jar and put in wick(s) 2. Choose scent 3. Make your scent mix 4. Pour in wax / stir Wait around an hr; Jackie (instructor) will tell you what time to come back 5. Choose your decor 6. Place your decor on candle Then you can take your awesome creation home!! Will definitely be back for another class since it looks like they have other classes besides candle making. They also sell candles they make as well.

It's probably the best bet to get a gift that is cute and unique but you want it to lean more towards being western and not too kawaii and anime. Think of gifting a punny keychain or cute Jellycat versus a Chiikawa plushie or anime acrylic if that makes sense. Meaning that it's probably easier and maybe more acceptable to get a slightly more normie a gift here than it is elsewhere. As you can see, I'm learning what it's like to touch grass and re-integrate into human society. There's a good number of plushies, Jellycat and unique ones like a pink fairy armadillo mole one, tote bags and socks, nice range of jewelry, lots of California themed goods if you're looking for souvenirs that aren't mega generic, and they have a lot of other items as well. As with the quality and high regard some of these items have (Jellycats are NOT cheap), it can be a bit pricier, so make sure that you shop around and check prices elsewhere and that you actually truly care about the person you're getting stuff for and it's not a forced obligation one (family member you're ugh with or coworker Secret Santa that you barely know). But it was invisible to me. Until today, anyway. I am so happy I finally found it. Because Gourmet Works is much more than a store that sells candy and chocolate. In fact, as the name would suggest, it's more of a Gourmet food store and Gift Shop than a Chocolate Shop. But it's also a hella cool chocolate shop and that's the main reason I will be sure to return. Right when you walk in the door you are surrounded by an astonishingly large variety of items that would make the perfect gift for a loved one, or for yourself. Because, I ain't gonna lie, there were at least a dozen items that I considered buying for myself. I thought to myself, you know, I do so much for me, and it seems I rarely properly thank myself for my devoted patronage and self care. If you are interested in high quality gourmet gifts, Gourmet Works is definitely the place to go! They carry so many products you would be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Gourmet Salts, Dried Herbs, Pasta Sauces, Dried Pasta, Curry Sauces, Masala Simmer Sauce, Special Preserves and Jams. An impressive, well-curated selection. Then, at the back of the store you find the kind of Chocolate display case that dreams are made of. Oh my Lord! Just the Truffle side alone would be enough to melt anyone's heart. But the other side, with the astonishing variety of hand dipped chocolates is where I lost it. I saw the Almond Bark and stopped dead in my tracks. I stared at that Almond Bark. The Almond Bark stared back at me. We were locked into that stare down for what seemed like an eternity. I was sure neither of us would ever give in. But then I blinked. Somehow I became aware that the wonderful woman behind the counter was asking me if she could help me. As I regained my senses, suddenly I felt so embarrassed. How long had I been staring at that Almond Bark? How many times had she tried to get my attention? I had no idea. I tried to play it off like there was nothing going on between me and that Almond Bark. I casually inquired about some Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt on a totally different shelf in the display case. Then, of course, I had to buy a couple of those Chocolate Covered Carmels with Sea Salt, to cover up the whole situation with me and the Almond Bark. I purchased a couple ordinary, un-chocolate covered Caramels with Sea Salt too. The woman behind the counter couldn't have been more gracious. She didn't let on that she knew exactly what was happening and I wasn't fooling anyone with the whole Chocolate Covered Caramels with Sea Salt charade. So, my thanks to Gourmet Works, and the gracious woman behind the counter, Padmaja (her family owns Gourmet Works). It was such a pleasure to shop at your wonderful store! Given the pricing and cute stuff, I might have (definitely did) buy a few things for myself too. EASY TO FIND: Anyway, it was easy to find, they had a sign. You just turn right as soon as when you walk in the double doors and they're right there. The center is that huge lot by the duck park, and the senior center is at the far back of the lot. PRICES: They really have a wide range of pricing because of their selection so I feel I can easily find something price appropriate for the person I'm buying for.
