I'm not sure if it's my taste buds but the coconut rice pudding tasted like it's spoiled. Our office had purchased this and I already received a call from a coworker that theirs tasted spoiled as well. I am not a fan of the broccoli cheddar soup, either. I tried it but it reminded me of the consistency of baby food, so I wasn't really a fan. I wish I had a better review but, sadly, I do not. Hoping they do better. At lunch today I wanted some tasty soup. I went to The Soup Girl in Hamden, CT where they make soup fresh daily. You can find the list on her Facebook page. Today they had a soup called Shrimp Bisque/bread or crackers. I've never had this Shrimp Bisque soup until today. I took a chance and I'm glad I did because it was AWESOME. I got a cup and now I wish I would have gotten the bowl. LOL This only means I will have to go back. I usually get the White bean and chicken chili or Chicken noodle and those are very good as well. I'm a creature of habit but today I stepped out of my comfort zone. New Year and new ventures in 2022. You can get fresh cold soup from her fridge and the list is endless. Take them home warm them up and your meal is complete. In the back of the store they have a hidden gem - homemade ice cream and it's very good. I'm so grateful to have this option for a healthy, tasty, and easy lunch! They always have a few hot soups available - just ask and they will serve it up for you in the back where it is kept (probably for sanitary reasons). They also have a ton of soups in the fridge if you don't like any of the hot options - soups with meat, chicken, seafood, vegetarian, and vegan options abound. My favorites are the seafood bisque and the chilled beet soup. My husband got a soup with black beans and sweet potatoes today and it was so delicious! One of my friends is addicted to the lemon chicken soup. Basically, whatever your soup preferences are, the Soup Girl has got you covered! They also have really great bread pudding in the fridge that I recommend if you have room in your calorie budget. This is a take out only restaurant so you can't eat inside. The Soup Girl always has a great selection of hot and cold soups. The hot soups are serve yourself, so grab a cup, fill it to the brim, cap it, pay and go. It's as simple as that. If you don't find a soup in the warmers, head over to the refrigerator. There are usually 4 or more different soups to choose from. There is usually a vegetarian and gluten free offering. I would love to see a Keto option, but have not seen one yet...maybe one day. Dessert? They have that covered too! Cookies and goodies in the refrigerator are sure to cure that sweet tooth. They have four hot soups daily, and then a ton of flavors in the fridge to take home. I usually go and get a hot soup for lunch that day and then grab one or two to eat for lunch at home the next day(s). Hot soup comes with bread or crackers (bread for the win) and the cold come with crackers. Some favorites - the sausage, cabbage and potato and the scallop bacon corn chowder. They always seem to have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options. They also have a small section with baked goods. I've only ever tried the magic bars, but they tasted exactly the same as the ones from my childhood and satisfied that particular craving perfectly. The staff is great and always super friendly! I don't do many reviews but this restaurant deserves one! Especially amidst the chaos of COVID the restaurant was clean, organized, aesthetically pleasing, the STAFF is so friendly! I visited the Soup Girl's stand at the Wooster Square Farmer's Market last Sat. I'd seen their stand there the previous Sat.; however, at the time of my visit (around 12:30), they'd sold out of all of their soup except the beet stew. Last weekend, I made sure to get to the farmer's market earlier (at 10:30) so I could check out the full selection of offerings. At the time of my second visit, the Soup Girl had 5-6 different types of soup. All of them sounded good, so I asked the woman at the stand what was popular. She told me all of their soups sell well, and asked me if I had any dietary restrictions. I told her I don't, except for beef, so she recommended the lemon chicken orzo. She offered me samples of two of the available soups, and I tried the African sweet potato and peanut. While its flavors were interesting and complex, it wasn't quite what I was looking for, so I opted for the lemon chicken orzo and the watermelon gazpacho. These soups normally run $6 each, but I took advantage of the farmer's market two for $10 special. I ate the gazpacho on Mon. and the orzo yesterday, and both were quite satisfying, albeit in different ways. The gazpacho made for a great Fourth of July lunch--it was cool and refreshing with a slight kick of spiciness from red pepper. It was improved by the addition of a piece of toasted sourdough bread, which I dipped in it, adding a welcome savory note to complement the soup's sweetness and spiciness. The orzo was quite lemony, with rice-shaped pasta and finely shredded chicken adding body and protein. Despite the summer weather, I ate this soup hot with oyster crackers. It was hearty and filling, and would make an comforting meal during the cold late fall and winter months. Overall, I enjoyed the Soup Girl's soups. They were quite different, and each was enjoyable in its own way. While the price point is a bit high to justify becoming a weekly customer, I'm certain I'll be back again soon when I'm in the mood for some more quality soup! 4.5 stars. read more

I am writing this based on a friend's experience within the last two weeks. There is an old review saying sampling not being done and blaming it on the business. My friend described sampling a number of soups last week, late January 2023. She loved the soups she sampled and has made purchases then and thereafter. What she had trouble with was opening the very securely closed containers. She plans to check with them to see if they have a solution but understands that this is to be sure there is no leaking of soup. If she were writing this she would give them a five star. read more
