What an awesome store to explore and spend time in. They have a great selection of socks that are great quality and are super soft to the touch. Upon entering it is very welcoming and inviting. What a great store to get socks for gifts for kids, men, and women. The value for the items are fair priced and there are sales on a lot of items. The service from all staff I've encountered was excellent upon entering to exiting the store.

The Sock Monster is one of my favorite small businesses in the Seattle area. Its amazing to see such a huge transformation since the business first started in Wallingford over 10 years ago. The Sock Monster has always been a staple for my holiday shopping, birthday gifts, or simply just treating myself. The staff are so helpful and friendly. They're great resources if you have any questions about the merchandise. It's always a great experience shopping here!

This novelty sock shop is actually really cool. I never knew there were so many different styles and materials of socks to choose from. I especially love the socks with sarcastic remarks and swear words!

For Taco Tuesdays and the other for just, well.....Yeeehaww!!!

Cool little sock shop in Wallingford, I needed socks so I went in here to get a few pairs of socks. Small local shop but with big selections to choose from. I didnt look at the women's section so I have no clue about that. As for men's, plenty of funny character socks, sports related, some more conservative socks, some that are have cool designs, big statment socks etc etc. Prices aren't bad, about $10 a pair depending on which one you choose. Definitely a spot to check out when in the neighborhood, who doesnt like cool new socks? Plus you can go get some gelato at Fainting Goat a few doors down.

I really love socks so stumbling upon this gem of a store made my day. Who knew that I needed a pair of socks with a stegosaurus dressed as a taco? Apparently The Sock Monster did! What makes it really specially, though, is that they also carry compression socks with designs. I've gotten used to boring monochromatic compressions for work but I am now the proud owner of multi color leg protection. Icing on the cake is that the employees are all very kind, knowledgable, and helpful.

All my favorite socks are from here and socks are pretty much all I buy anyone as gifts now. They've got pretty much every kind of sock you can imagine-- Funny socks, pride socks, etc. And they've got a nice kids selection too. They're COVID safe with contactless sanitizer at the door. And everyone that works here couldn't be nicer! :)

    Super cute socks!!!!

This is the perfect place to buy gifts! I mean who doesn't like getting cute socks?!!! No matter what age and gender. I spent more time than I thought here because I couldn't decide which socks to get for people. Before I came, I bought gift bags. But that wasn't necessary because they have really cute boxes and gift bags here. Plus, I think they wrap presents for a dollar. The girls who work here are super sweet. I had a couple questions and they were making me laugh when answering them. Plus they are good at helping choose what people would like.

To add to my huge sock collection lol

Today, I sing you a song of socks-pence. Socks are an understated piece of clothing, in my opinion. I used to be a fan of Boston Socks growing up (are they still around?) and Sock Monster is my toes' new best friend! I love good service, and theirs can't be beat. I never knew I could have such an engaging conversation about socks with somebody before. I wonder if they get a pair of socks free for every month they work there? If so, I'm totally putting in an application. They have socks of all shapes, styles, colors, and lengths, including tights and other accessories--to complement those new socks! Currently, my favorite socks are the knee-high ones, emblazoned with inspirational (?) words: Tofu, Whiskey, Business (my current favorite), Vodka, Bacon, etc. They are the PERFECT thickness (meaning, not thick, yet soft) for soccer, weight-lifting, running - when you need to keep them calves warm - or just lounging around the house and letting people know that you have your "Socks" socks on. I mean it. My newest purchase ($10) are a pair of socks that just say, "Socks" on them ^_^ Get your very own ninja/zombies/spider/penguin/crow/cupcake/3-Toed Sloth socks at the Monster! They also have a new electronic method of keeping track of your purchases so you can get a discount on your umpteenth pair (it'll happen in no time, I promise.)

I was told they would not take the socks back because...wait for it...because I had worn them with shoes.

There is a small sign hanging on the entrance of Sock Monster that says, "Please do not shoplift from our small business." It's a simple message and one that would resonate with anyone, except perhaps for someone intent on stealing from the store. I have to say, entering Sock Monster for the first time, that simple sign caused me to feel an immediate affinity for the store. A small, women owned business doing its best to compete with big box retailers, chain stores, online retailers and any number of competing independent businesses, Sock Monster is exactly the kind of store you root for to succeed. Indeed if I written a review following that first visit, it undoubtedly would have been very positive. I would have described the $82.13 I spent purchasing six pairs of socks, the broad assortment, the helpful associate and the cool multi-merchant loyalty program they are a part of. But, I didn't write that review and sadly my second visit to Sock Monster was so mind boggling frustrating, that I now find myself writing a one-star review and vowing to never step foot in the store again. So what happened? Of the six pair of socks I purchased on that first visit, two were for me. They were a bit of a splurge--expensive cashmere/wool blend socks that looked cool and felt heavenly. I wore one pair three times over four weeks. Let me repeat that. Three times over four weeks. The fourth time I went to wear them I noted that they were already starting to wear through. The fabric had become so thin I could see my skin. "Well that's disappointing," I thought to myself. The second pair had only been worn once or twice, so were not showing the same level of distress, but upon closer inspection, it was clear that they were headed towards the same issue. I resolved to return both pairs and exchange them for something that wouldn't sprout a hole after three uses. Returning to the store, I greeted the associate working and explained the issue I was having including pointing out the specific area that was worn through. I then listened for several minutes in utter disbelief as the associate proceeded to explain to me that they would not take the socks back because...wait for it...because I had worn them with shoes. Let me repeat that. The socks were not returnable because I had worn them with shoes--it was the shoe's fault and therefore not a manufacturer's defect. I'm going to just pause here to let you, dear reader, consider that logic. Oh wait, there's no reason to pause, because it defies logic. All I could think of listening to the associate yammer on about how this was my shoe's fault was that this was going to make a heck of a Yelp review. And really, as I think about it, there is only one answer I should have been given: "I'm so sorry. Please pick out whatever you want from the store in exchange for these socks." But that was not to be. Thinking back to that sign, I have to say, that it's a two way street. The management of Sock Monster has the right to ask that customers not rip them off. In exchange, customers have a right to ask that Sock Monster stand behind their merchandise and when expectations are not met, treat the customer appropriately. Sadly, that was not to be and that is why I will never step foot inside Sock Monster again. Way to go Sock Monster. Over, probably less than $20 at cost, you've lost a new and enthusiastic customer who probably would have spent a couple hundred dollars a year. And, you earned your first one-star Yelp review. Was it worth it?

Also, Glasswing always seems to have a plant expert on hand to answer any of your questions and if they don't they will reach out to someone at their sister store down the street. I had a truly terrible experience at this store that still bothers me to this day…read more I liked this store because it was basically on my doorstep, and it had a good selection of cards. After patronizing this place for a while, I was asked not to come back to this store. Naturally I was curious as to why they would do this to a repeat customer. I was told that I had made an employee uncomfortable- by flirting with them!! I was gobsmacked as to why anyone would think that. I'm a talker- I talk to everyone I meet the same way, but this person thought I was flirting with them. Perhaps they have too much main character energy to think that. Perhaps they found my chattiness annoying- not everyone is going to be delighted by me- but why, WHY would they not just tell me they were busy and couldn't talk? Did they feel they were being held hostage? I saw Standard Goods as a neighborhood spot. Keep in mind I wasn't camping out at the store; I'd say my average visit was -20 minutes, and I wasn't there frequently. This just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm forced to consider the possibility they felt ill at ease around me due to my disablity- I'm legally blind and my eyes look different, some people aren't comfortable with that that's their problem. Even if that's not the case, it still really hurt when they asked me not to come back. What is this, high school? Yes, I cried. They made me feel like my presence was a nuisanc. It left an impact. question whether people want me around. There were so many other ways they could have dealt with it and at the same time keep in mind that I was a customer with feelings. I get the distinct sense that they don't care about customers or the community. It's good for managers to take their employees' concerns seriously- Just not like this. Maybe they are extremely nonconfrontational, yet there must have been another way to addrss this without banning me from the store.

They even gave me a "tip" that I should look into getting a secure mailbox, as if that would prevent an empty box from being delivered in the first place. In the end, I spent $140 for a box with nothing more than tissue paper and promotional material. Oh, did I mention they generously offered to send me the products again if I pay 60% more than I already paid? Thanks, but definitely not going to throw more money in your direction only to lose it again. Update: Just to clarify, this is not a case of mailbox theft...I was physically delivered an empty box by the carrier. There is always risk involved with shipping, and as the shipper, it's your responsibility to ship in a way that reasonably reduces risk and puts shipping liability on the carrier. Since you put more than $100 of your product in a box that's only covered for up to $100, you put the risk on the customer. I can't possibly be refunded now. You also could have reduced risk within reason by not advertising on the outside of the box that there is jewelry inside.
