Thankfully we just missed the line! Didn't have to queue up at all. We just went with ribs and they were good. Doubled up on cornbread as we thought it was going to be great, however didn't even finished 1 slice! It was room temp and dense. Greens were good, not bitter, came with chicken compared to the usual pork. Beans were great, fave side. Potato Salad was good aswell. Soda machine has Cheerwine on it too.

This meal was phenomenal. The food was delicious. The portions were more than fair. And the flavors were rich. I can't speak to the ambiance or service because we did take out. But the order was ready on time and 100% accurate. Which is all that you can ask for with take out when you're super hungry.

On the hunt for bbq and came across this place. Seemed like a local chain so off we went! Decor was good and the place has that old school bbq joint feel. Service was great and they kept coming around to make sure everything was good! Amazing! The food...we pretty much ordered everything as my buddy hasn't had good bbq in awhile. Moist brisket - cooked great, fall apart tender but missing the smoke and no visible smoke ring. 4/5 Sausage - great flavor and a nice snap. Overall very good. 4/5 Ribs - these were some of the skinniest ribs I've seen and were very dry. Like thy sat in a warmer too long or were from the day before. 2/5 Turkey - not dry, very light flavor. 3/5 Pulled pork - light vinegar taste, cooked well. Very light smoke taste/smell. 3/5 Sides Mac and cheese legit reminded me of Costco. From the noodles to the flavor. 3/5 The cornbread was sweet but dry. I did like the whole corn pieces mixed in, but overall, meh. 2/5 Potato salad - I like a mustard based salad but didn't like this one. It was just ok. 2/5 Sweet potato casserole - this was perfect! The right amount of sweet and crunch. Amazing! 10/10 Overall a good place to go and you'll get a ton of food. We ordered a little of everything on the menu and still had a couple take away containers full after we ate way too much. Skip the banana pudding. The flavor is good, but the entire bowl was cookies and bananas with the lightest touch or banana pudding I've ever seen.

My most recent visit to The Smoke Pit was on a Thursday evening this past July. On a previous visit to the Concord/Charlotte area, we found this place when searching online for a good barbeque spot near our location. Luckily, we landed on The Smoke Pit, and now have a favorite restaurant to visit each time we are in the area. The restaurant is located on Concord Parkway, just a few minutes off of 85. It is in its own building that is half restaurant and half meat market, but all the same entity. There is plenty of parking in front and on the side of the building. However, it seems to fill up with all of the patrons coming and going! For the restaurant portion, there is indoor seating, as well as some outdoor tables. You will have no issue locating the place, as it is clearly marked with signage. We stopped here just after 5:00 PM, and it was fairly busy. The line to order was not too long, and there were several tables open for dine-in. However, the line continued to grow after we ordered with it being right at prime dinner time. There is a lot of signage to direct and instruct patrons, but in-person orders take place at the counter. After you enter on the left side of the building, you keep left to get into the ordering line. There is a menu with the items available all the time, and also advertised are any specials, sides of the day, or desserts. Once you reach the register, the staff takes your order and is able to answer any questions that you have. I have always found the staff to be both friendly and helpful on each of my visits to the restaurant. The selection is as expected - primarily barbeque. They have lots of different meats, including pork, chicken, sausage, ham, turkey, brisket, ribs, and more. Meats can be ordered by themselves, as part of a plate, combo, by the pound, or even in whole portions. They also have wings, sandwiches, sides, salads, desserts, and a kid's menu. Sides can be included in a plate, but also ordered in single, pint, or quart sizes as well. On this trip, we ordered our food to-go. We decided on a BBQ Combo with 2 Meats to split. For this, we ordered the Chicken Quarters and Pulled Pork. The combos come with two sides, for which we chose Baked Mac and Cheese and Deviled Egg Potato Salad. Texas Toast was our bread of choice. Additionally, we ordered a side of the Hashbrown Casserole, which was the side of the day. We also wanted to try the wings, so we ordered a 3-count of the Hickory Smoked Jumbo Chicken Wings in Southern Sweet, which also comes with celery, carrots, and ranch. Lastly, we ordered the Chicken Tenders and Fries Kid's Meal for our dog! I am not certain if they are made in-house, but there are several sauces to choose from. On the tables, there are bottles of Southern Sweet, Lexington Dip, South Carolina Mustard, and Sizzling Barbeque. The restaurant will also provide to-go cups for you to take sauce with your takeout orders. Even taken to-go, this barbeque is still some of the best. The Chicken Quarters and Pork were both flavorful and moist. We enjoyed all of the sides, but were not particularly blown away by the Hashbrown Casserole. The wings were great as well - no complaints there. Especially for the price, we got a ton of food. Even with sharing between two people, we had plenty to go around and some to take home with us. I thought the Kid's Meal was a very generous portion, especially for the price! The chicken and fries were both good, and it also came with a fountain drink/tea and a cookie. It would definitely be more than enough for any child to feel satisfied with their meal. Our dog loved it as well! Personally, I think the prices at this restaurant are very fair. Especially considering the quality and quantity of food provided at that price, it is hard to beat. As with any restaurant, there are some menu items that may not be the best deal at the price (I.e. some of the sides being $12 a quart), but particularly for the meats and combo meals this is not the case. I so wish The Smoke Pit was not a destination out of town for us! There is a reason this place is so popular and heavily-trafficked. The meat is great, the prices are very fair, and the staff are very friendly. It is a great experience whether you eat out or dine-in. I would highly recommend giving this place a try the next time you are in the area! P.S. If The Smoke Pit staff is reading this, you should put the Jalapeño Cheddar Grits as a permanent menu item...they are the best grits I have ever had!!!

Traveling 1-85? This is worth the 3 mile ride off the interstate. Come here! But ONLY: A: if you are really hungry & want to experience phenomenal, authentic BBQ. Portions are huge! B. You understand good things are worth the wait. See a line out the door? STAY! It's fast. When we are roadtripping (multiple times a year from NY to southern states), eating authentic BBQ is a MISSION. Well, mission accomplished at the Smoke Pit. Quick google map search of area, almost every exit in area boasts an authentic local BBQ place. This one impressed by photos and reviews..so glad we chose here! Line was out the door. Outdoor & indoor Dining area. Can't sit until you order. No problem, as you eat & leave. No reason to hang. Get in, get fed (very well) and get out. We had pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket with variety of sides. Order at counter, fill up your fountain soda and pick a table. Food brought to you. Very generous portions! And the food is so good you are moaning while you eat, and want to take the Lord's name in vain. That's how good it is! The best slices of brisket we have ever had! Thick, juicy and flavorful. Pulled pork and pulled chicken also so juicy! The variety of sauces made it even more enjoyable. Try them all and find your favorite. The sides shine as much as the meat! Rich, creamy mac & cheese. Corn bread and texas toast to die for. Pork baked beans thick, sweet and yummy! And the deviled egg potato salad waa delicious too. None of us could finish our lunches, and we opted for small platters. This place is legit! Service is fast and friendly! And the BBQ is the bomb!

We are big fans of the Smoke Pit and it never disappoints. They are generally busy and it often appears there'll be no seats but only once have we had to take it to go, which was not a big deal. Service has always been friendly and fast. Decor is clean and typical of a bbq restaurant. The food is AMAZING! The best bbq around. We ordered 5 meals consisting of pulled pork, brisket, pulled chicken, sausage, Mac and cheese, fries, collards, bbq beans, collards, deviled egg potato salad, Texas toast and cornbread. It was all delicious. I'm not a huge fan of Mac and cheese but theirs is excellent! The cornbread is one of my favorite items. Everyone was pleased with their food. The portions are so large we all had lunch for the next day.

Wow!!! if you ever need a catering company, this is the place to go to. The Smoke Pit did not disappoint at her daughter's wedding reception. Never have I been to a reception or banquet where food is talked about as much as it was this past weekend, everything was warm tasty the service was superb, friendly, and even gave us advice if we didn't want to retain the leftovers to be able to donate to the local fire or police department, which I think is fantastic. They really know how to do every aspect of food service and quality the best!

I just moved here and lost weight the first week I settled in, but clearly now that I've discovered this place that's all going to change. I don't even have a job yet and should not be ordering food (although the price was reasonable honestly) but here we are. The ribs were literally falling off the bone (I sent a video to friends back home to make them jealous), the mac and cheese was the best I have EVER had in my 40 years on this early (the crispy parts throughout? stop it), the beans were so flavorful, and the potato salad was delicious and had just enough of everything without being overpowering. I don't love chunks of corn in my cornbread, however the flavor was great! This is where I'll be taking all of my out of town guests.

I have ate here and ordered out many times and we always enjoy it. The pulled pork is my favorite, but the brisket is a close second. Love the collard greens! They are spicy but the best! The macaroni is also top notch. If you order a combo or plate there will always be food to take home. The dessert options are intresting too. So far I have only had the banana pudding and will order it again. Drinks are self serve with fresh tea, fresh lemonade, watermelon lemomade, or soda from the soda machine. All of the staff are kind and helpful. The restaurant can get busy sometimes. There are limited booths, but lots of tables. I appreciate that the dinnng area is always clean and managed throughout the day.

OMG the best bbq I've had in Charlotte hands down. I've know about this place for a while but I never visited. I thought it was closer to the mall but it's not. Once I put it in the gps and I started driving I said I won't be coming to this place too often because it's kinda out there but after visiting and eating the food, I will be back. The service was great, the food was good and I feel like I'm the last one in the party to find out about this place. I went on Saturday kind of early before 1pm and when I was leaving it was so many people pulling up to this place you would've thought they were giving away free food. It was crazy but anyway I had the wings and brisket along with greens and sweet potato casserole and cornbread and let me tell you everything was delicious. Do you hear me? DELICIOUS (One last thing they have a nice variety of sauces on the table)

Ribs, Pulled Chicken, Mac + Cheese, and Sweet Potato Casserole (contains pecans)

Will forever give this place a 10/10 - Food is always great, the service is great, but be prepared to wait. Line moves as quickly as it can and if you dine in, you'll have to wait until a table is ready before you can order (at least that's what happened with us). Worth the wait and worth the money.

They have Cheerwine!!

I'd like to order delivery today for 10 people please. Is there any service you use for delivery? Thanks!

When I was there was a person from uber eats was picking up an order. I'm pretty sure they are on doordash as well.

Passing through town on the way to Charlotte, we were in the mood for BBQ and Yelp led us to Jim 'N…read moreNick's. Honestly, was pretty skeptical of finding something of good quality near Concord Mills, but decided to trust the good looking pictures. First impressions were good, with a wonderfully smoky smell as soon as you walk in that makes me believe the food is cooked fresh on site. If they're trucking it in from somewhere else, they absolutely have me fooled and I'll choose to remain ignorant. We were seated at one of the little elevated booth style seats and promptly met by a friendly waitress. She was kind and attentive our entire visit, though I failed to catch her name to shout her out. Right off the top, she brought us a basket of the cheddar biscuits and we were quick to take her up on refills because they were *fantastic*! The menu is comprehensive and it was hard to choose. When we did order, we were shocked at how large the portions were and ended up taking almost all of the food home with us. We got the Brisket Mac & Cheese bites and these things were amazing, with large crispy portions of exactly what the name entails. They were honestly a meal on their own and fantastic. Dinner was the Brisket Chili for my wife and the loaded spud for me - Both delicious with very generous portions. No complaints here. I've got this place bookmarked for another visit when I'm in the area again, and would encourage others to try it too! You'll be surprised how fresh and authentic the food is when many of the restaurants in the neighborhood give that "generic mass produced" feel.

Brisket was so dry it was like eating saw dust. I smelled the onions in the baked beans before I even opened the container. I really wanted to like this place as everybody keeps telling me to go here for good bbq.

Gonna lead with this, this was easily one of my top 3 BBQ experiences in the state of North…read moreCarolina, and it would fight hard for 1st overall. For now, we'll call it a tie, because i actually did not have any pulled pork while here (went more on the Texas side of things) so it can't be an apples to apples comparison. OK, I had heard from so many people over time how great the BBQ here is, and just never really had the occasion to be in Salisbury at the right time to have a meal. It just never seemed to time out right. Well, I was going to a show at the Salisbury theatre to see a family member perform, and we decided to go early and have dinner her prior... MAN. WOW. How glad am I what we did that? Getting there about 6 we just barely beat the dinner rush on a Friday night. About 10 minutes later there was a line for tables. Place was pretty big and clean, parking would clearly be an issue at peak times though, and it looked like it was when we left. Our server was young but attentive, even offering us a sample of baked beans when we were being indecisive on sides. The tea here is excellent, as a southern BBQ place ought to be. For the food, I'm just gonna run it down list style: Brisket - A - Tender, solid smokey flavor, juicy, fat was rendered to a butter consistency. Only had better at Terry Black's in Austin TX. Sausage - A - Hearty smoke flavor, nice spices, nothing overpowering. Went well with a mustard sauce. Pork ribs - A+ - Succulent, gently pull right off the bone, well trimmed, offered wet or dry. Best ribs I have had in quite awhile. Mac N Cheese - A+ - Best I have had lately. Lot of effort put in, cheese rue was made, and then baked. Best of both world, crispy brown cheese on top, would be hard to beat. Cornbread - A+ - Best cornbread I have had in years. Moist, slight sweetness, pulls apart like cake, no need for butter. Sweet Potato Casserole - A+ - Tastes just like my wife's. She was with me and agreed. Lots of crispy pecan and brown sugar bark throughout, creamy sweet potato. Fried Okra - B+ - They're definitely breading and frying it themselves is the plus, but a bit bland on its own. Was really good in the ranch. Broccoli salad - B+ - A little runny, but overall quite enjoyable and a solid change up to the hearty sides. Corn pudding - A- - Excellent flavor, truly, but very runny. That said, it didn't both us much, just use a spoon! Hush puppies - C - The only thing that didn't stand out, and honestly, that's OK. In the future, we will both opt for cornbread because it was just so so good, that the pupps could not compete. All in all. This was a 6 star experience. The prices would be considered high if they were not so generous with their portions on everything, and if the food were not this tasty. We had enough left over for a 2nd meal (and even re-heated, everything was great). The truth for us now, is that we will probably make the 45 minute trip from Greensboro specifically to eat here every now and then, even with excellent options near us. GREAT JOB.
