    Jambalaya Dinner
    Denise M.

The Friday evening vibe was exactly the way to end a hectic work week. The service was good, very pleasant and efficient. The food was comforting! The buffalo cauliflower was delicious! Surprising as I didn't expect cauliflower could taste so good. The jambalaya was also really good. The chicken taquitos and chicken dumplings were ok. The cocktails were excellent, especially the pear martini. Parking is easy and very convenient.

Branzino in puttanesca sauce with sautéed spinach

The service the options, the customization! On a cold snowy night in January, this place was packed and jumping. Nice vibes, music pumping, drinks flowing...Chris our server was PHENOMENAL! She was a huge part of our magical experience. I started off with the buffalo cauliflower. I will preface this by saying I'm not a big Buffalo flavor person, but I'm a vegetarian and didn't feel like getting my usual vegetarian app - brussel sprouts. I wanted to expand my palate that evening and surprisingly I actually really liked it. The amount of blue cheese was perfect for me (despite the reviews) as it would have made it too salty and greasy. Next was my entree: Modified Kettle Cooked Zoodles. As a vegetarian, I never have the highest expectations but I was blown away! Chris our server was so sweet to have this customized for me. We took the idea of hubby's Branzino sauce and added more veggies to the Kettle cooked Zoodle dish. It was so yummy! Hubby's Branzino: fish was well cooked, elegant flavors from the Puttanesca sauce with spinach and mashed potatoes were excellent! Faux-ito: I got two, the first was the classic, the second was a mix of strawberry and pineapple. Both delicious mocktails! The Forbidden Pear: hubby got this one. very balanced, not sticky sweet. I can't believe this gem is just sitting here in Fairfield. Not too far off from a night in the city. We will definitely be back!

I've visited three times and now I can this spot. It's elegant and the service matches in quantity. I've enjoyed a brunch and two happy hours. I appreciate having happy hour at the regular tables and not just the bar stools (my shirt legs struggle). Happy hour: The cocktails are all half off and they are well crafted, not just well drinks. If cocktails are not your style, all the wine glasses are also included so you don't have to settle for one you don't like (aka the one white and red no one wants). There is also a great variety of food in the happy hour menu. You can enjoy prosciutto, shrimp, calamari, tacos, mussels, dumplings, empanadas, cod, and more! It's great for all ages and food styles.

The restaurant is huge and has a nice vibe. Went there for brunch and had the french toast. So fluffy and sweet.

I am not sure how I haven't reviewed Sinclair yet, considering I got there a few times a month. Everything is good. Service is top notch. The atmosphere and ambience is my favorite in Fairfield. The drinks are perfect. And the food!! Try everything at least once, and don't forget the Sunday happy hour...all drinks half off after 6:30pm.

Some meals feel like a routine and then there are nights like this where everything just hits. The Sinclair's Sunday Evening Surf and Turf is a masterclass in financially responsible indulgence. I kicked things off with an Espresso Martini and a half dozen Blue Point oysters, because why not, then dove into a Caesar Salad and Prosciutto Wrapped Mozzarella that set the tone for what was coming next. A perfectly cooked Filet Mignon, two buttery Maine Lobster tails, grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes that could easily ruin any future attempt at eating them elsewhere. Dessert was sorbet and gelato to cleanse the palate before taking a Double Chocolate Layer Cake to go because I was stuffed. Drinks were Old Fashioneds with dinner back to the Espresso Martini for dessert. Service was flawless. George, my waiter, was on point the entire night and even the host kept checking in like he actually cared. Not a single complaint. The vibes, the food, the service, was a ten out of ten. This was my 4th time at The Sinclair, first time doing the Surf & Turf, & I would absolutely do it all over again.

They look really pretty but all (except the sidecar) tasted like battery acid :)

I came here a couple of weeks ago for the first time, and unfortunately, it will also be my last. We stopped in last minute to celebrate with a friend visiting from Vermont. We were seated at the bar and immediately greeted with attitude from the bartender, Spencer. All of us work in the industry--I've been a bartender for years--so we understand how to behave as guests and how to treat service staff. From the moment we sat down until the moment we left, Spencer's demeanor was rude and dismissive. On top of that, the drinks he made were some of the worst I've ever had. When Spencer disappeared, we asked another bartender for drinks, which helped, but the damage was already done. Whether he's new or simply disliked us for no reason, Spencer left us with such a negative impression that whenever I think of Sinclair, I immediately think of his poor attitude and service. First time, last time.

    Tuna on crispy rice

Visited this restaurant while visiting friends who live in the town. I would call this place 'The Smith' of Fairfield, since it clearly feels like a knock off the beloved chain in NYC. We had a nice large booth table for 4 and we were seated as soon as we checked in for our reservation. We shared a bunch of apps to start - the buffalo cauliflower (generous portion), the roasted Brussel sprouts (average taste), the tuna on crispy rice and dumplings (neither which seem to be on the menu still today). I had a Patio Lemonade for my drink and it was OK, not my favorite cocktail. For mains, I had the cherry pepper pork chop - good meal, large portion - wish the pork was a little bit thinner but still good. My husband had the sesame chicken fried rice which he enjoyed. Service was pretty good. Atmosphere was lively and it the restaurant had a nice open air flow. If I was local, I could see myself dining here again.

Our special double birthday dinner at Sinclair was a very mixed experience. The service was really friendly and the table was very roomy. The bar area was a bit noisy but that is to be expected. We ordered several appetizers to share, including the tuna tartare which was a good sized portion with really great chips which we later used to eat up the remains of the sauce that came with the jambalaya rice balls. The rice balls themselves were ok but the sauce was very tasty. One of our favorites of everything we ate were the roasted brussels sprouts. They were really well done with a taste of honey. So those were all either good or had a really good component (i.e., the creole sauce) the same could not be said for the pork fried rice which was really bland. When we don't finish a dish, that means something not so good. Another thing we did not finish was the red sangria. We probably should have returned it as it was a not very good red wine with an overlay of super sweet cherry something. I had to trade my faux-jito mocktail, which was fine but didn't have much pineapple taste, with my birthday girl daughter who was so disappointed in her selection. The paloma was good but the basil sangria was pretty bland. Again, it was truly a mixed bag. For entrees, we had the grilled lambchops which were good and the steak frites which was just ok. The new orleans mussels had a really good broth but it seemed as if the mussels were steamed someplace else and just dropped on top. There was no broth at all in any of the shells and the mussels, although small, had a great mussel taste but no creole flavor at all. Once again - a very mixed experience. The desserts we chose, the chocolate lava cake, tiramisu and crème brulee were fine. We were very surprised that the restaurant offered nothing for a double birthday dinner (one of the celebrants being 97 - it was a pretty special event). Warning - if you do let them know you have a birthday, they will bring a candle (just a candle, nothing more) and sing really, really, loudly which can be embarrassing and a little over the top. I'm really not sure it is at all worth mentioning if you are celebrating a special event. The service again was very nice and attentive (again - maybe too much when it came to the happy birthday serenade) but the food was a mixed experience. Some of it was really good but then the other half of the offerings just weren't. We will have to think about whether we will be coming back.

In fact, you should just walk out to the light house during low tide and wait a few hours until you can't see the shore... I'm proud to be a regular at the grape, present during the school year on most Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. James H. makes a fantastic timeline about a typical grape-night. And Mike C... to my defense and the defense of my classmates, only about 10% of seniors fell under the tube top/gelled hair category. However, I can say that about 95% of us were blacked out before close. I was there a few times during the summer and I have to say, I'm very disappointed about the light crowd. Even though the students are gone, I figured locals and shoobies would pour in more frequently. Regardless, the grape is the epitome of the Fairfield U social scene. My night at the grape (after a hefty pregame at lantern point) would usually start with a few vodka 180's and a half a dozen house shots (which are only $1). Chris, the DJ, pretty much sticks to hip-hop all night. And even though Fairfield might be the least diverse campus on the East Coast, we know how to drink and embarrass ourselves through the art of dance, preferably right next to the dartboards. We also know how to waste money in games like Buck Hunter, Lobster Claw, and Bowling. On Tuesdays, most drinks are $2, and all the time $2 bud light bottles are hard to beat. I've never heard of another bar that supports a shitshow of a water/booze fight the night after graduation and gives out commorative t-shirts to their loyal Fairfield U senior customers. Sea Grape Cafe, I love you.

Drinks first: my slightly dirty martini was made exactly right. My friend went with cosmo and it was equally on point. Whoever is behind that bar has their act together. Then the food happened. We started with grilled bread with an EVOO, agave, and chile dip -- sounds simple, ate like a statement. The char on the bread, the heat and sweetness of that dip. Good sign of things to come. Main event: shrimp and grits. Guinea flint grits, spicy red sauce, sage, stock. I don't say this lightly -- this is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The grits were creamy and rich, the sauce had real depth and heat, and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. The whole bowl just worked on every level. Dessert: goat cheesecake with pistachio dust and berry compote. Tangy, creamy, not too sweet, and that pistachio dust on top was a perfect finish. We cleared the plate.
