My friends had been chatting about Sinclair for a while so we agreed we'd spend our Galentine's night out grabbing dinner & drinks here. We went on a Friday evening (2/11/22) and boy was it crowded. My girlfriend had to go in to add our name to the waitlist while I looked for parking. When we got there, the bar was also packed but some of the fellas gave us their spots so we could order a drink while we waited. We got a chance to chat with the other patrons who were so nice and seemed to be from all over CT, some even from NY. Our table was ready in about 15 minutes so we sat and ordered our meals. The menu is quite extensive which I appreciated. I went with the calamari salad and fries, and for my drink, I opted for a bourbon mule. Our food came out relatively quickly and I must say that calamari salad was made to perfection. I had the best meal at the table it seemed so it was definitely the right choice. Overall, the service was good, food was delicious and the ambience landed nicely with me. Having just moved to Fairfield/Westport, we are trying to put together our "go to" restaurant list. The Sinclair is at the top end of that list!! Ambiance is spot on- outside and inside tables are welcoming, sharp and comfortable. Service on each visit has been excellent (I minor mistake, but, can't know if it's the kitchen or server) and friendly. Now, the food, terrific! They OWN MUSSELS I had the OG meunière and the Thai style. Very different, but, so delicious. My wife had two salads, both delish. We split tuna tartare and loved it. The food is good. The salmon is delicious. Their service is nice, polite and efficient. The loud music is not pleasant. I asked the staff to lower it as people's voices were competing with the music and each kept increasing. If the volume was decreased, I did not notice. In a word: Fantastic. In a few more words: This place came highly reviewed so I did have pretty lofty expectations, and I was still impressed with the experience. The covered patio area was kept toasty warm even on this chilly December evening, which was quieter and calmer, away from the main dining area. Everyone working was really friendly and accommodating; it wasn't even upsetting when our server dropped a metal coffee pot because she took it in stride and good humor. You must start with the avocado fries. It's hard to master this dish since avocados are so fragile, but they were perfectly crisp on the outside, tender, NOT mushy inside, and buttery ripe all over. The dipping sauce isn't vegan but they have plenty of flavor without it. Then, for the main course, I had the zoodles. Oh, the zoodles! I don't know how you kettle cook a zoodle, but this is the way it should always be done. This humble squash was transformed into toothsome strands coated in a rich tomato sauce with all sorts of delicious vegetable treasures woven within. From roasted garlic to grilled asparagus and cauliflower florets, it was an incredibly hearty, comforting meal. Much better than I expected, even as a zucchini noodle lover! I've been there for dinner and for brunch, and both times have been very pleased with the food and the drinks. My favorite salad was the baby kale salad with beets and fried goat cheese - it's a large portion! Their mock tails are just as good as their cocktails and the service is fast and friendly...sometimes you go to a restaurant and you feel like they are rushing you out, or waiting for you to leave. This was the first time that we've been here and couldn't be more excited to be here. The food, service, atmosphere were all top notch. In terms of food, the portions were perfect, the food was good enough that you wanted to finish it all, and it was enough so that you didn't over eat and feel uncomfortable afterwards. Also, as a personal note, as a rum drinker, I've come to expect that most places just have Bacardi, Malibu, not what us rum drinkers would consider to be preferred choice, however, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a Greek rum called Kavo, which I hadn't had in a long time, so it definitely hit the spot. We ventured out to the Sinclair for a celebratory lunch and we're not disappointed. We arrived in time to take advantage of their brunch menu which is offered daily until 3pm. We were able to sit outside in their covered patio which was shaded and comfortable for most of our meal. It had the vibe of a cool NYC place but with better parking and reasonable pricing based on portion size and quality of ingredients. When looking at the menu before my visit, I only saw soda or mineral water as non alcoholic options, I was pleasantly surprised when they were able to proved an iced coffee with the milk in a separate container to add as you want and an Arnold Palmer. The Arnold Palmer was garnished with a lemon slice but was a tad too sweet for my taste. Our server and another server who he was training were lovely and provided great recommendations for both our apps and entree when we asked. We ordered the Burrata as an app which came with three toast points and was creamy just as you would want your burrata. I ordered the breakfast pasta which was a good size portion but tad salty but the sauce was flavorful and came with a perfectly poached egg on top. My table mates ordered the stuffed avocado and said that it was also incredibly tasty. As we were finishing our meal, it started to get busy so we did have to wait quite a bit to pay our check but staff was incredibly friendly throughout the whole experience. Had a nice night here celebrating my birthday with friends. The food was delicious we loved the muscles and calamari. I had the salmon which was really good and had a great flavor. Upton Sinclair wrote "The Jungle" which exposed the appalling and unsanitary conditions of the Chicago meat-packing industry. If he dined at this namesake he would expose the inability to get a drink. Staff is super nice, but they seem more interested in having a fun time with each other than taking care of their tables. Clusters of staff by the bar chatting, laughing it up while people are waving their arms to get a drink. Food was fine, but overpriced for quality. Tater tots! read more

They had a band on this particular night , so it was a little difficult for dinner conversation if you sat near the bar area. A change of seat and it was fine. This is a good restaurant we tried for the first time. It has a nice ambiance and service was fast. We didn't have to wait long for our food or drinks to arrive. We ordered the chicken pimentos, which comes with bone in crispy chicken topped with cherry peppers, some carrots and potatoes. I really liked the sauce they used on the chicken and this dish was delicious. We also ordered their roast Atlantic salmon, which was equally good. I ordered their boxed water, which was a mistake because the water tasted weird. So don't order boxed water, instead go with their bottle or tap water. I had an unfortunate visit to Sinclair. I had made reservations but the three people at the reception area instead welcomed me to wait at the bar because my table was not ready - no problem, I get it. I ordered and paid for a drink at the bar ($18 - ridiculous!) and was escorted to the table 20 minutes after our requested reservation time. I ordered steak over a house salad. My friend also ordered protein over a salad and a bottle of sparkling water for herself. My steak was absolutely unchewable. It was an undercooked, despite me ordering 'medium', grizzle-filled few meat chunks over my salad. I tried to eat 3 chunks but each time had to spit it into my napkin because it was too tough to chew and I couldn't get it small enough to swallow it. I asked to bring it home, just so I could see what they served me as the restaurant is a bit dark. I asked for a cup of coffee to finish my meal and the waiter said he would need to check with the manager if he could serve me coffee as he shared that there was a large party arriving soon so they needed our table to accommodate the large party. (Really? You sat me late and are now rushing me!!!) My friend asked for a cappuccino and the waiter told her he would need to see if it was okay to serve it to her because they needed our table for the group - who had not yet arrived. The bill arrived shortly thereafter - 2 salads, a bottle of sparkling water, 2 coffees - for $92????? I paid for my drink at the bar so it was not included in the tab. The meal was lousy, we were rushed which reflected that they didn't have our table ready when we arrived, the server was put in a bad position having to ask if he could get us a coffee and then rushed us, and it was ridiculously overpriced for the quality. Had they said 'we need your table and would be happy to treat you to a drink at the bar' to continue your evening it would show that they were sorry for the inconvenience to us and we're sorry for the lack of hospitality - I wouldn't be writing this review had they handled it differently. Enough other outstanding restaurants in Fairfield to ever come back to Sinclair. And, the meal which I took home and looked at in daylight is evidence of a piece of meat completely raw in the center and strewn with grizzle throughout. You should be ashamed to serve it to someone and to charge such a ridiculously high price for something inedible. read more

First timer, got a gift card for Father's Day. Instead of eating at The Sinclair, we decided to order, pick up curb side and enjoy our meals at home. The website gives detailed and clear information about the menu and prices. They have plenty to chose from, and it is for sure a place to return to and try out some other dishes. We decided to go for the Cubano, 4x and placed our order online. 25 minutes was the expected time. I received the order by email, and was assuming they would email or text when the order was ready...they didn't. Really good. Went for brunch. Got there around 10:15 though they don't open until 10:30. Many were already seated. We got coffee and water. My decaf iced latte was super. Very good. So good. Better than starbucks for sure. No soy or almond or oat milk though. We got the breakfast pasta which was spaghetti with pepper and bacon and a sunny side egg on top with lots of caramelized onions. Wow. Very rich, obviously cooked in bacon grease. Heart attack waiting to happen but very good. Didn't need to eat the rest of the day. Also got french toast with extra berries that were served macerated with freshly whipped cream and maple syrup. Excellent. Big pleasers, both of them. Service was super. Only complaint? I had the Belgian waffles. They were difficult to cut thorough with butter knife, they were ok tasting. The cubano which my husband had was bland to flavor on the meat. My brother had a chicken breast which came on the bone and skin. He asked the waitress if it was boneless, she said yes, but it was not. My friends breakfast pasta bowl was ok. Pricey in my opinion, not tasty. May give another shot but not for brunch. read more

For my seafood lovers there are tons of different options for mussels which you don't see all the time and a raw bar. The avocado fries are a must-try they were sadly all out when we went but goes to show how good they are! The fried calimari was just ok I might opt for a different app next time the muscles were pretty good and the salmon BLT was also pretty good. So good. We were driving through CT and stopped here for dinner what a pleasant surprise. It has a nice atmosphere inside and out. We tried the lollipop lobster tails and they were so good!! I had a salmon with dairy vegetables and it was delicious too. The Caesar salad was fresh and crisp. The penne vodka was very good too. The chicken parm was excellent. I came and was seated pretty quickly in seating across from the bar. The environment and decor was very nice. We did happy hour and ordered a drink and some bites to eat - Thai curry mussels and mozzarella sticks, both very tasty. However, I did experience pretty bad service this day. The server took our orders, food arrived and was pretty much forgotten the rest of our time dining. We saw our server chatting behind the bar with these customers the whole time while I was trying to get her attention to order more but failed. I eventually had to flag down some other server to just take the bill and move on to the next spot. While the food and environment was great, we did receive terrible service which made our visit somewhat unpleasant. Unfortunately my last experience was trash . Our server Vicente had little to no patience. Fine there was a live band it was noisy but that doesn't call to be rude. I've been coming here for years , since they have been open truly. The food was mid , it was giving the whole establishment does poorly with food and service while under pressure of big crowds. What did it for my friends and I , was the waiter throwing our bill at us and walking away. I also asked around , this behavior seems to be common with this waiter.Spoke with the owner Paul about the incident he was very nonchalant . Hands in his pockets shrugging his shoulders lol said he doesn't know what to say. Uhh.... You could say/do a few things like apologize for the experience.
