Above average menu- Excellent presentation and service. Bar atmosphere ---but has "Connect Four"! Pictured is what we had: a burger and very good fries () and red curry with chicken ().

A nice neighborhood tavern. Jason the bartender was quick with a cold beer and made some recommendations on the limited menu. I ordered the hamburger, the house specialty, and got a nice platter of burger, fries, and sandwich toppings (lettuce, tomato, red onion and pickle spear). While the food was good, I wouldn't call it great or the best hamburger I've ever eaten. In summary... I'd come here again, but I wouldn't make it my first choice.

I make it a point to come to Tautog whenever I am in the Black Rock area. I really enjoy the atmosphere, the staff and the pickle backs! The space itself is nice. It's pretty spacious and even on busy nights it doesn't feel TOO crowded or like you can't move around without bumping into someone. There is plenty of seating at the bar and there are also cool booths to hang in. I personally enjoy the rocking chairs that are placed out front during the spring/summer seasons. The staff I have encountered are swell! Emilie, Corey and Pat are just terrific. They always know what their customers want. They are efficient and very attentive. You couldn't ask for better bartenders. I recommend the pickle backs! I also recommend Emilie's Bloody Mary. It's kick a$$! The food in this place is great too! I suggest the tomato soup and fried pickles. If you end up in the Black Rock area and want to go to an awesome pub, go to Tautog. You won't regret it :)

If you don't know Pat LaFrieda beef, you're seriously missing out. There are no better burgers than those made with that! And it's not easy to find places that use it, especially with the prices you can find at Tautog. They also pickle their own veggies and you can order a bowl of them or find them used throughout other menu selections. The brussel sprouts are the best I've ever tried. For a small, casual pub with a local's vibe, the food (although minimal) is outstanding. There are a ton of slider selections and you can mix and match them as you want. They are all amazing. At happy hour, the sliders on their menu are mix and match 3 for just $10 - a total steal! But their regular prices are already a great deal compared with the area. There is great live music there on different nights of the week. Tautog Tavern is definitely worth a try.

A Small Very Friendly Tavern. The food may be the Best on Fairfield Avenue in Blackrock. A new food Item The Pork Rice Bowl is a Must Try. Add the Friendly Bar Staff, Live Music and The Owner Who is always Friendly and makes sure everything is to your liking you will not be disappointed.

We've had to repeatedly flag her down while sitting with empty plates and glasses. No check-ins, no acknowledgment. When she does come over, her attitude makes it feel like guests are an inconvenience. I'm a bartender myself, so I understand busy shifts. But basic hospitality like eye contact, clearing empties, professionalism -- isn't optional. My drink was poorly made and unbalanced, which only added to the frustration. What really crossed the line was hearing staff behind the bar openly speaking negatively about customers -- including people currently seated. That's not just bad service, it's unprofessional. It's unfortunate to see a place I enjoyed decline like this. I hope management steps in.

Staff: friendly and on point Food: this is where they dropped the ball, the fig flatbread was smothered with a fig like preserve on a horrible crust, either wasn't cooked correctly or the didn't give the dough enough time to rise. Then placing un-toast prosciutto on top was adding to the quandary! The cubano sandwich was not bad but lacking the butter cook that makes a cubano taste so good. Adding to this was it was a working lunch with colleagues and the restaurant has no public WiFi???? This is the first place I have been in over 5 years that didn't have a guest WiFi. Price: average for Glastonbury for 2 people around 50 bucks Overall: I might try again but lots of other places to eat in the area!

We had been here before, and I didn't leave a review at that time because the place was extremely…read morecrowded and felt that our experience may have been a one off. We came here because it was highly recommended and the ambience was great. In our first visit, our food took forever to arrive and service was very slow. I ordered the Reuben and when I went to pick it up, there was a large hole in the other side of the bread and the whole thing just fell apart. . The pastrami was very dry and just not very good. Aside from that my wife's meal was very good and we had a beverage and enjoyed the ambiance. This time we went and felt that we had lucked out because there was no one in the place. Our first mistake was, we sat at a high top in the bar, but it was too close to the door, so it was very cold. Every time the door opened the cold air with flow in. I put that on us for choosing a poor seat. The waitress promptly came over and took our drink order and said she would be right back to take our food order as we were very hungry. We waited and waited and it took a while for her to arrive. It looked like she forgot about us and quickly stopped by the table after walking past And asked if we were ready and took our order without writing it down. About 10 minutes later someone else came over and said I'm trying to confirm your order because it was not written down and make sure that we had ordered was ordered properly. The place had hardly anyone in it and not all the tables were taken so we expected our food to be received rather quickly however, after about a half an hour, we started seeing the tables that came in after us were receiving their orders and we still had not arrived. We both had ordered burgers which didn't seem that complicated. After about 15 more minutes, and since we'd been there, almost an hour we still had not received our food. My wife finally went up to the bar and mentioned something to someone there and she said she would go check on the kitchen. She went into the kitchen and immediately came out with our food. Strange? So we basically waited almost an hour for our food and it appeared to have been ready in the back and just sitting there. When we first tasted our food, it was not warm at all. The fries were cold and soggy, and my both of our burgers were warm not hot. This convinced me our order was there and never picked up. At first we thought about sending it back but then after waiting almost an hour, we decided just to eat it and leave. I feel bad having to leave a bad review but it is what it is and that's what happened. I would understand if the restaurant was overly crowded but like I said there was many open tables so I'm not understanding what was the issue. They were running food out, but these runners seemed a bit confused. After two tries, I'm not sure we'll try it again because we like the other place in town up the street just as much. We traveled almost an hour just to go here. There are places that are closer also much better and actually in town.

I met friends here for a pre-holiday meal; was my first time, but came very highly recommended. I…read morewas skeptical at first as the White Horse positions itself as an "English pub," but in reviewing the menu - it's all over the place. Impressions waking in were terrific. Great feel, good energy, beautiful dining room and bar with a perfect fireplace. The walls are adorned with history and there is even a book to guide you around the space if you choose to learn about what makes this place unique. We ordered some appetizers to share: spinach and artichoke dip and the goat cheese and arugula pizza. The apps tasted good (although the blended/pureed consistency of the spinach dip was like none I've ever experienced before) but they were small for the price. As a public service announcement, the items we ordered are literally an individual serving. I cannot speak for other apps on the menu. Entrees were much better than the starters. I ordered the chicken tikka masala (Punjab/spicy style) and it was very good. Savory, perfectly balanced, delicious. Enough food, for sure. Not a belly-busting portion - but I appreciated how the spice was balanced with banana, cashews, and a mango chutney. Very good. One friend ordered the chicken pot pie (which our server showed excitement about) - it was beautifully composed with a flaky crust and a cute horse crouton - but the taste was a safe "meh." Under seasoned, under chickened, just ok. Our other friend ordered the mushroom and walnut pappardelle in a cream sauce. It was delicious. Different. Savory. Maybe the best entree on our table. Service was OK. Attentive. But almost over-bearing. We were having a fun time and sharing holiday gifts, etc. clearly not ready to order - so we had to ask our server for some more time 3x. I suppose it's waaaaay better than getting lost in the crowd. Just no social awareness. All in all, I'm glad we went. We had a great time. Location for us was terrific. Feel and atmosphere was really good. I'll definitely be back and am anxious to try more of a pub-forward menu (burger, wings, etc.) One pet peeve: for a place that's an "authentic" pub, their "Shepherd's Pie" is made with ground beef. Any authentic pub-goer knows shepherd's pie is always made with lamb. Cottage pie is beef. With the variety and breath of their menu, and the dishes we had, "authentic" is a relative term.

So I've actually debated whether or not to include this UberEats delivery review. The first time I…read moretried to go through with it, I just couldn't really figure out what to write. I only ordered it on UberEats this past Friday night, so it's not like I actually went there. However, the more I ate and thought about it, the more I realized something. This is the 4th year in 6 I've done a pre-birthday send-off UberEats order, and this is my 3rd year in a row doing so. In 2021, I had Edo on the last week before I turned 30. 2024, it was Boatyard at Smokey Joe's in Stamford, ordered on April 18. Last year, I did the Norwalk location of Elm Street Diner on April 24. If we want to take that into consideration, then that would be reason enough to sum my thoughts up together and get something down. So to send off age 34, say hello to Walrus Alley! If I'm being honest, I always wanted to have a barbecue right before my birthday of this year of all years. It only felt appropriate for 2026. Originally, I was going to have Wire Mill Saloon from Redding delivered using Yelp, but one of the items I'd ordered was out of stock, so that got canceled and I turned my sights here and ordered what I would have gotten from Redding. This was a half-rack of ribs, an order of Mac & Cheese, side of cornbread (this one came with coleslaw and pickles), and an a la mode chocolate bourbon pecan pie. The pecan pie was the only change since if I had gotten the Redding order, I would have had a key lime pie a la mode. I also put in some Alabama sauce because it does ribs a new flavor to play along with. I had everything over the next three days, hence why I am writing this review now. I will start by saying the ice cream did not make it without melting, but that's okay. I wasn't expecting it to since my driver did have to make a bunch of stops along the way, making my order take over an hour to deliver. No fault on the driver or restaurant there, and I ended up drinking the ice cream anyway, and it was still refreshing, so c'est la vie. The pecan pie it came with was actually really good. I found that it's better if you let that chill off a bit. Don't use plastic silverware for this one for the pie will break them, but delicious and sweet all the same. I'd love to have this in an in-person visit. In contrast, the cornbread should be warm when you eat that. It's buttered and soft, but it might be too dry if you try to eat it cold. The pickles are more of the spicy kind. I prefer sweet pickles, but I don't mind them being spicy either. The coleslaw I will say suffers the same fate that befell the one from Boatyard: it doesn't taste like true coleslaw. They should take a bit of inspiration from the Smokies (think Eastern Tennessee or Western NC) to learn how it should be done. It's lacking that mayonnaise component that truly makes it coleslaw. If they added that, then we might be talking! I decided to leave the ribs and Mac & cheese for last in the review because they do provide reheating instructions for those who order take-out such as myself. The Mac & cheese was actually eaten very late on the first night. The instructions given for Mac & cheese were spot-on, baking at 375 for 10 minutes before I dug in. It was some damn good Mac & cheese. Cheesy, love the breadcrumbs, and very satisfying overall. The ribs were the last to be finished. I will say I did also follow the instructions for the ribs as they were written; however, unlike the Mac & cheese, the ribs were still cold in the middle after 20 minutes in 375. You need the microwave to finish the job here. The ribs themselves were good. They weren't the best ribs I've ever eaten, but they were tender, the BBQ sauce was tasty, and the meat fell right off the bone. I will say that for this meal it needs a healthy amount of Alabama sauce all on it to really elevate it, but other than my experience reheating them this was my only criticism. Overall, a worthy BBQ meal. I'd still pick Hindsight BBQ over this if faced with deciding which CT BBQ to go with, but this will get the job done and then some if you need good BBQ. I'd love to come in-person one night and experience this place firsthand.
