Sadly, we don't eat out much as a family, so this was a special occasion. We rolled in around 6:45ish & picked the pizza and salad buffet. Most of the pizza was gone, what was there was dried out and hard. We waited, and waited, and..... waited for fresh pizza to come out. Finally, 10 till 8, we gave up, it wasn't busy and somehow our waitress had disappeared. We decided to pay our bill and leave (only to see 1 fresh pizza be put out). That wasn't the only surprise! For 2 adult buffets, breadsticks, and 2 kids meal pizzas, $82! It wasn't that good the last time we went and certainly wasn't good this time. Will never be going back! So sad, because I have been told The Shack use to have amazing food in its prime. read more

It is a cool looking place. The buffet pizza is average at best. My guess is that all the crust is frozen. It reminded me of Sam's club pizza, not bad just not real good. TL;DR This place has a lot of potential if the food was served hot. Tanner was our server who was attentive and helpful. We sat upstairs in the bar which took away from what someone complained was a garage vibe. I ordered the meatloaf. It was smokey and flavorful but cold and dry. You can see how dry it is in the image. It tasted like it was made three days ago and not fully heated up. The sides served were mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. Both tasty. Both cold. My wife got the smothered chicken which was served with green bean casserole and mash potatoes. All three were also cold. Sigh. So disappointing. The Shack is anything but a shack. The locally owned restaurant is trendy upscale with industrial vibe. The bar area is welcoming and lovely. The dining rooms are spacious with lots of natural light. Cassie, our server, was attentive and friendly. She checked on us multiple times, brought extra napkins (without us asking) and kept waters full. She was a 5 star server. The menu offers a mix of sandwiches, pizza and more. I was craving salad, which was only available as a salad bar. The salad bar was pristine and had lots of fresh veggies including cauliflower and broccoli. I loved my salad. My husband had the pork tenderloin. The tenderloin was huge with a generous portion of fries. The breaded fries are delicious and crispy. The tenderloin was good but he said the pork was not a tender as he wanted. Prices are good. The pizzas looked great and seem to be popular. They have a full bar and kid's menu. There is plenty of parking with accessible spaces. Restrooms are nice. There is a rooftop patio with seating. Excellent update to this small town favorite. The decor is what you would expect to find in Fishers or Carmel. The menu has a nice selection to meet any need. They still offer puzza. Which they were originally known for. Service was exceptional. We had a party of 7, and you'd have thought there were only two. Orders were spot on, and he checked back in adequate intervals for not only drink refills but generally checking on how we were, the food, etc. Everyone enjoyed their meal, from tenderloins to kids pizza and spaghetti. We stopped in there during hippie fest to have lunch. Lady at the counter was rude. We understood they were busy, but she basically said we have a lot going on and I'm pulled two different ways and you're gonna have to wait. My friend I was with did not want to wait, so we walked into the bar to see if we could sit at the bar, but it looked like they had just had a rush in and all the tables were dirty, and the bar was full of dishes. The bartender didn't seem to be worried about hurrying up and cleaning off a space at the bar so we left. We did come back late in the evening for a martini and dessert. A different server was there and we got great service and the dessert and the martini were delicious. We would definitely try it again. read more

This review is based purely on my experience ordering pizza for pickup from The Shack, I cannot comment on ambiance or service, or even what the rest of their menu is like. I paid more than $50 for two pizzas and breadsticks which is fine, but the quality was very poor. The sauce tasted like just canned tomato sauce no spices no nothing. The pizzas themselves tasted like school cafeteria pizzas in quality, but without any of the nostalgic, this is gross but in a good way, qualities you'd hope for. The cheese was bad quality, taste was not good. The Shack is definitely not using high quality ingredients for their pizzas. It's a shame because I want to support a small town business, and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but people work hard for their money, they deserve a high quality meal if they're being charged a high quality price. I think they can improve and I hope that they do. read more

I ordered their pork Detroit style pizza. On the menu it did not state that it came with a layer barbecue sauce. I am not a fan of barbecue sauce. Whenever I order a Detroit style pizza it has dollops of tomato sauce on top. This pizza is dry with the barbecue sauce on the bottom. The pork was very fatty. The bartender didn't care when I pointed the mistake on their menu. If you go I would not suggest the pizza! Even though that's what they're known for. read more

We've been several times since they opened. Each time, I try something else on the menu. I'm not a fan of their pizza buffet but I do love the salad bar. The Detroit style pizzas are great! I've had the Cajun pasta, the Shack Sub, Burgers, Cheese curds... I haven't not liked anything yet! The alcoholic drinks are great too. I recommend the Brazilian margarita.. I can't pronounce the actual name of it. The service has been great. Our servers have been very helpful with the menu and answering questions. Food comes out in a decent amount of time too. If you enjoy dining in what feels like a large garage, you'll love this place. It's extremely loud with absolutely no ambiance at all. The salad bar is anemic and the menu is fairly limited (basically simple bar food). We have 9 people and a baby in a stroller. They only have high top available. Some small but they only 4 seat. They can not put any tables together. So we had a baby on the floor in a stroller. So they are not baby friendly. I have came before and love the boneless wings. Last time my mom came they said it was gluten free pizza but she had a reaction. My aunt said she came and had a bad one when they said it was gf. But waiters are nice. read more

After a long day of working a few different gigs, we decided to grab a bite. Our waitress grabbed our drinks and cheese curds were awesome we ordered a second plate. Me and my buddy had the tenderloins, his wife had the grilled chicken sandwich which were delicious. Seemed like an old factory, but it was updated to be a clean restaurant. Walked in at 11:40 on a Friday morning. The older woman at the hostess table was on the phone and never looked up. After 2 or 3 minutes a younger came up and asked what I needed. I explained just a table for lunch. She asked if I had a reservation which I did not, nor did I think I would need one for this restaurant for lunch. When I told her no she waived her hand toward the bar and said if I could find a seat at the bar it was open seating.
