2 of us went on a Wednesday around 6pm and did not need a reservation. They seated us in the cellar which is like a speak easy. I highly recommend you request this area. I love the decor and the bar in the basement. It made me feel like I am in a different Country. Wednesday's special $22 Filet mignon dinner with side and salad. Since Ten West changed owners, we have heard and seen various opinions, but most saying not the same anymore. They are one of our favorite carry-out places, so we decided to give them another shot tonight! Our meals were delicious and tasted very much the same quality we have always had. My husband enjoyed the walleye and I had the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin. Both were great! We had to share my mashed sweet potatoes, since they forgot his, but they were terrific and so was the creamed corn! Missed the warm bread they used to include, but we didn't need it. We are in out of town and happy that we stumbled on 10 W. If it gives you any indication, we've went here two nights in a row and ordered the exact same thing two nights in a row. I have been fortunate to eat in some of the best steakhouses in the country and when I tell you that their Ribeye competes with all of them I'm not lying. Who would have known here in the HOOSIER STATE! This place is a gem. IYKYK IM SURE! We will be back for certain. My wife and I were in Cicero on a Sunday close to noon, but we had already ate breakfast hours ago. The one local restaurant had a small line outside of people waiting on breakfast, so we chose 10 West hoping for a decent lunch. Upon being seated, our waiter showed us the brunch menu and we almost left, but decided to stay and try the more lunch type foods on the lunch limited menu. I had the salmon BLT, and was completely in love with every bite. It came with fries, but I substituted the Tomato horseradish soup which was awesome and not too spiced. The perfect compliment to this extravagant lunch was the bloody Mary bar where I put all the olives I wanted in my drink. Went to celebrate a big birthday. We have been multiple times and never been disappointed but this time was different. The wait staff was great, but the some of the food wasn't. We had several people order the filet mignon and they were tasty but tough. The birthday girl couldn't even finish hers. 3 people got broccoli and all servings were almost raw. Recommendation to owners: upgrade your beef to what it should be if you want $35- $48 for it. And tell the cooks that they are under cooking the broccoli! This was my first time here for dinner. The drinks were great. Our server was always right there when we needed her and my lord the food. Absolutely fantastic. I had the prime rib special and my wife had the manhattan we both were incredibly pleased and my son loved his grilled cheese and fruit. My wife and I were regulars here for nearly 10 years. We loved everything about it, from the food and service, to atmosphere and entertainment. It was a staple of Cicero, and it was the only place I would recommend in Hamilton County. I even included a screenshot of my first review for comparison. Unfortunately, the 10 West that we came to love and appreciate no longer exists. As of March 2024, the heart and soul behind what made this restaurant what it was - Bill and Lisa - parted ways with their business partner. Before the switchover, the social media presence and communication was top notch. After the FaceBook post announcing the departure and new staff, however, there was radio silence. No introduction of the new Chef or owners, and no recognition of the change. The new owners were merely trying to ride on the coattails of 10 years of incredible success by staying as quiet as they possibly could, hoping no one would notice. For us, however, the change in management was blatantly obvious in our first (and only visit) after the turnover. Upon arriving, there was an empty feeling in the restaurant. No personality, no charisma, and a heavy sense of defeat in the staff. It was reminiscent of a funeral home, which was appropriate, given the circumstances. At this point in time (04/2024) many of the same staff members were there, and we saw a few familiar faces. Those that we knew from the past decade were happy to see us, came over to say hey, and catch up on everything that had changed. We visited with 5 separate employees during our visit, which was the only highlight of the night. Here are some of the issues/concerns we observed during this visit: - We were given dirty appetizer plates and menus when seated They changed the coasters to very thin tagboard material, which curled when it got wet, and eventually shredded itself when picking up your drink glass - The spinach dip appetizer was no longer fresh spinach, but frozen. The drop in quality was very obvious. Additionally, they didn't even shred the frozen spinach similar to their predecessors did with the fresh spinach, which made it even more difficult to scoop with a chip - Cocktails were watered down compared to before, but the cost was the same - Dishes sat on our table for up to 20 minutes before being taken away, proving that they weren't touching the tables on a regular basis to keep everything clear for customers - My steak was overcooked - My wife's fish was burnt, not blackened - The floor manager was making rounds to tables, and because he saw us talking to multiple employees he must have known we were regulars. You would think that would be a perfect situation to introduce yourself to your loyal customer base, ask for feedback, and bridge the gap between ownership. Instead, he made eye contact with us multiple times, but avoided us the entire night. - The cake was one of the driest, most bland desserts I've ever had at a restaurant. The icing was very thin, and it tasted as if it was made no less than 5 days prior. To summarize: I will never be back to this location. It's obvious they cut corners every way they could to maximize profit. It's an insult to what 10 West used to be, but you know they won't change the name, or it would be obvious to everyone that it's no longer the same. However, the regulars knew right away, just like us. I have since been informed that after our visit that 10 West is under new ownership (again), only this time the owners of The Nesst in Noblesville. I wasn't impressed with them either, as their food was overpriced and underwhelming. If you want to experience the culinary perfection that was here during the first decade, go pay a visit to bar ellis in Noblesville. It is owned and operated by Lisa, her sister Chamron, and Bill is still working his magic in the kitchen. You will see a lot of familiar faces/dishes, a higher standard in every regard, a beautifully restored building, and the REAL after dark menu, not the one 10 West copied and began doing after bar ellis opened. 10 West removed this review from Google (and all negative Google reviews in the past year) which proves that I was right. We had a Christmas get together among friends. There were 8 of us. Katie was our server. SHE WAS AMAZING!!! We had special orders. Diet restrictions and one of us wanted his cheese burger with sauté onions, mushrooms and jalapeño. She happily took our orders. Kept the drinks filled and help take pictures of our group. Visited as a party of 6 on a Wednesday evening. The ambiance in the side room is really cozy/warm/stay a while, and it's easier to visit when you can sit around a round table and see everyone. The food was good but not great. I had the filet special with asparagus for the side dish and it came with a salad appetizer. The side salad was excellent. I ordered the filet medium well and agreed to have them butterfly it for better grilling. I ordered mushrooms on the steak. The steak was tasty but arrived mostly rare, so I sent it back. It came back perfectly cooked and on a fresh plate with fresh mushrooms and asparagus. The steak and mushrooms were delicious. The asparagus was ok, but you get only 3 or 4 spears. Service was ok. Our server was new/in training, and he seemed sometimes excellent and sometimes surly. I chalked it up to nerves. In summary, we had a great evening. A nice, quiet Friday night dinner. We had reservations and were seated immediately. We requested a regular table as opposed to a high top and that was accommodated. Staff is efficient and nice. We enjoyed crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. Very generous portion w lots of crab meat! Very good My husband had the Meatballs and spaghetti. Good but nothing special. Tried this place and I was blown away. This is a secret gem for sure. We had reservations which was good because on a Saturday at 7:30 it was packed. There was, however plenty of parking around the building so no worries there. The menu has something for everyone, steak, sandwiches, salads, pasta, just a wide variety of items to choose from. It took us all some time to pick what we wanted because everything sounded so good. I landed on steak and a baked potato. It was cooked to perfection. Because it was my birthday celebrations, I also was able to pick from a dessert. I picked the carrot cake. While typically I'm not the biggest fan of carrot cake, the server said how amazing it was and she was right. Lastly - They do have a speak easy type area in the basement called the cellar. We were able to have dinner down there (we put the request in ahead of time), but there were many people down there just have cocktails. We are regular customers. We tried to make a reservation and open table wasn't working. Called for a reservation and told they couldn't take one but if we got there by 5 there would not be a problem. We arrived at 4:30. Asked for a booth and told no,they we were reserved. They were all empty at the time. We were seated in the family room by our self's . Our waiter didn't even know we were there . When we were served Mason did a great job. The room then filled with 4 other people and a family with a crying baby they started to seat right by us. I had high hopes for 10 West, but unfortunately, the meal fell flat across the board. Every dish we tried lacked basic seasoning -- the potatoes, steak, broccoli, and fish were all incredibly bland and flavorless. To make matters worse, the pork was extremely dry and tough to get through. For a restaurant that seems to pride itself on quality, the execution was surprisingly poor. I made a reservation online for 7:30 in the basement, but didn't get seated until 8. They were busy, so I completely understand, and the basement is a smaller setting. You can't force people out the door, nor should you rush them. So I get the wait, and it really wasn't a problem for us. We had nowhere else to be. Brick walls, nice lighting, clean, and an old world feel. We did not get a pre-meal drink at the bar, but noticed their large selection and impressive display. It's definitely busy on a Friday night. I would suggest a reservation. Once we were seated (basement seating is highly recommended), our waitress was very receptive to our needs. The entire night. The basement feel captures the speakeasy vibe, and is adjacent to an even more relaxed lounge with ample relaxed seating. For starters, I ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms (amazing), and the horseradish tomato bisque soup. The soup was good, had a horseradish presence and a nice mouth feel, but lacked depth through the use of spices. The saving grace was a crusty, buttery, and warm sliced baguette for dipping. My wife enjoyed it very much. She got the spinach artichoke dip. Nice chunks of artichoke, and a good consistency for the tortilla chips. We ordered a bottle of Dablon Riesling. Good stuff. For my main, I tried the chicken and noodles. Nice handmade, rolled noodles like your grandma used to make. The chicken was a little dry, but the broth was good, and the whipped potatoes put me in my comfort zone. My wife got the filet with whipped potatoes and brussel sprouts. The filet cut like butter with a fork. A very nice steak. However, check the online menu for current prices. Pictures of the menus are outdated by quite a bit and should be removed to reflect the current prices. Our night ran late as we enjoyed our relaxed time and were encouraged by the waitress to take our time. We closed the place out, and took a to go cheesecake slice, which was the cherry on top. We held our children's wedding rehearsal dinner there Friday evening for eleven people. We had made arrangements with Stacy a few weeks prior to create a custom menu with the bride and grooms names and wedding colors. The whole event was flawless! The food was top notch, and our waitress Melissa was on it! I would have a hard time finding a better experience. I have dined here several times with friends, and the food is consistently delicious. Do yourself a favor, and try the Tomato Horseradish Soup-incredible! Everything from the steaks to seafood to pasta dishes is always fantastic, as is the service. I had wanted to try for a while. We went today and will not return. This place, with their service and food leaves a lot to be desired. It was not even mid.... The waiter seemed confused most of the time of what we ordered, and what we didn't. It also took a long time to come out. It seems like there's teenagers working in the kitchen. That's fine, but maybe be hire an actual chef. The brunch burgers were not good. They were super thin with zero seasoning or flavor. It says it's a half pound burger. Absolutely not, it was at best, 4 to 5 ounces...... I wish I would've taken a photo to post with my review. I asked for fries with it and he was like "oh let Me ask " then came back and "we don't do fries with the brunch burger"... OK how hard would it be for the kitchen to make some fries? Someone else in our party ordered a burrito vegetarian style. It came out with meat in it. They then remade it and excluded what originally should have been in there. Every time we go to 10 West in Cicero we wonder why we don't eat here more often! It's a bit of a drive, that's the only reason why! Service is outstanding; food is always VERY good and decently priced; drinks are generous. We enjoy sitting in the lower level which I believe they call The Cellar. We have eaten here before and the experience was nice. This time, again we had reservations and with children we had 6 total. Even calling in advance we requested a large table for our evening of dining. We were set at a 4 top (small table) while other larger tables were available. We were also sat next to the kitchen door. So a cramped space with servers walking past you and or bumping your chair was the tone. We asked to be moved and was told that "we will see". Not one to ruin the special occasion we were celebrating, I simply chose to deal with our situation and try and make the best of things. We ordered spinach dip which came out cold. The pretzel sticks were hot and for what they were, they were good. Getting our server to keep our drinks filled seemed to be an ongoing challenge as well as getting our salads. This was not a full restaurant at the time we were seated. We all ordered steaks and our steaks were cooked perfectly. The famous cream corn wasn't very good this time around. I was simply not happy with the lack of service we recieved for the $350 plus bill we recieved. One never likes to sit by the kitchen door and if you are going to have tables by the kitchen, make sure there is room so that your customers chairs aren't getting bumped into all night. We arrived early for a 12:30pm reservation. Since we made the reservation on the OpenTable app, we had no idea that the menu shown on Open Table was not available. Only brunch menu. (Sadly we were looking forward to a steak and mushrooms for lunch on a Saturday afternoon.) Mallory our waitress was assigned to our large group but didn't seem to like being at work this day. It was for my daughter's 39th birthday and there was no mention of it by any of the staff. I ordered the bagels and lox-the lox was slimy like it was about to expire. My 6 & 7 year old grandsons ordered chicken tenders which were raw inside. Service was slow. Food was sub par. Ambience was nothing special. We drove to Cicero from Carmel because my daughter had been there once before and she Liked the place. I will not be back.
