10 West is a favorite. This time the food was so-so, and service a bit off. My wife's fish tacos were generic and not particularly flavorful. We were told there would be 5 jalapeño poppers and there were 4. Then when we got the bill, there were a bunch of drinks on the bill we didn't order or have. Fortunately we caught it and it was corrected. So overall so-so evening. We'll likely come back, but we'll likely find another place like Noblesville Grindstone. read more

I've been wanting to try this spot since it's very close to my home. The parking ordeal is a little wonky, but we were able to park in a nearby lot. We arrived on a weekday and were immediately greeted and seated. We loved the ambiance. It's so cozy. Our server was amazing and so so helpful. She also gave us great food and drink recommendations. We started with the bbq shrimp and the stuffed mushrooms. Both were good, but the shrimp had an edge. The mushrooms weren't as flavorful. We also ordered the salmon blt, the gumbo, tacos, and spaghetti. The salmon blt was unique and good. My husband ate the gumbo and he said that it was only okay. My mom had tacos, and she said that they were only okay, and my daughter didn't enjoy her spaghetti. She did enjoy the macaroni. My mom also ate the bread pudding, and said she'd had better. What an awesome meal and experience. We live in Indy but often like to check out surrounding communities for restaurants. I found this place and made a reservation to sit in the cellar. The ambiance was awesome and the service was great. Reasonable drink and meal prices as well. I would put their filet up agains major steakhouses in Indy. First time in Cicero, what a cute town! My husband found this spot on Yelp because they had great reviews, and it all rang true. We enjoyed sitting in the cellar and had amazing service. Mace was very attentive and quick. The bartender even came over and chatted with us for a while and was very friendly. Our food was amazing, starting with the Cesar salads. I had the walleye and sweet potato fries which was so good. I recommend getting a side of the creamy horseradish sauce for some extra flavor! My husband had the 9 oz filet which he lived and said was cooked perfectly. Drinks were reasonably priced (beer cheaper than most, wine average and cocktails the going rate). We usually always have a good experience at 10 West. We went for my wife's birthday. I ordered the maple glazed brisket for $28.00. I smoke brisket all of the time at home BUT this was not brisket it was chuck roast. I even asked my wife to taste it and she said the same thing - it tasted and had the texture of chuck roast. I was very disappointed - I felt this was deceptive for the price I paid to have brisket NOT chuck roast. Everything else about our meal was very good. My wife order the Cuban sandwich it was wonderful and we had the tomato soup and grilled cheese crostini's which was point on as well. If and when I go back - I will not order the brisket. read more

My wife ordered the veggie pasta which she said was very tasty. When we arrived we were sat right away even though we did not have a reservation. Tis the season for company holiday dinners, and for this year my company held there dinner at 10 West! This place is so Unique, with its basement hideout and diner cellar for guests to either enjoy their meal at the bar downstairs or hang out in the hideout! Very cool and unique! There is also dining upstairs on the main floor when you enter the restaurant. Prices are a little up there, but not too much so where its hitting fine dining status. Entrée: I had the Louisiana Gumbo. This dish consisted of shredded chicken and sausage over a bed of rice with this savory gumbo sauce over it. I personally wished there was more seasoning in the gumbo, but adding some Tabasco sauce fixed that issue real quick! Dessert: We had the Chocolate triple tier cake with chocolate ganache . DELICIOUS!!! It had pieces of peppermint candy cane in the filling and the chocolate was so rich and decadent! Had a great time with my co workers here at 10 West, definitely recommend!!!! read more

"The one where it doesn't belong". This restaurant doesn't seem like it belongs in this area. It is more on par with boutique bar with flare up upscale. It is combination of upscale meets bricks meets rustic. Great ambience for a date or hosting an event. Had the Caribbean Flatbread. Great balance between sweet and heat. The crust was very crispy and definitely was grain like crust and not just over processed flour. The shaved steak sandwich was on some great sourdough and while it was not overly buttery this would be place to customize if want to control this. Need a little kick so asked for some 1000 island dressing. Fries were well done a little too much salt for our tastes. We made our first visit to 10-West last night. I had never even heard of it until my son gave us a gift card for Christmas. In a small town, parking was sort of a free for all, but we found a spot about a half block away. We entered and immediately fell in love with the place. We were seated, and our server (Skylar) introduced herself. She also informed us of the specials of that evening. I stopped listening when she said "grilled swordfish." Hellllllo amazingness. 10 west just worked itself into my top ten favorite restaurants! The atmosphere, the staff, the food & drinks were all worth more than five stars. The interior of 10 west is modern and trendy. I sat downstairs in the cellar and was welcomed into a relaxing yet vibrant atmosphere. Downstairs offered a full bar, lounge area, piano and tables for dinner. The staff was extremely friendly and willing to offer suggestions off the menu. I started off with the margarita (delicious) and bacon wrapped shrimp. Oh. My. The shrimp were delicious! My entree was the top sirloin with whipped potatoes. The meal was flavorful and one to remember. I topped it off with the peanut butter pie. I would highly suggest ordering this! 10 west is a place my parents have always raves about and I finally went for the first time this week. We started off with the grilled cheese crostini's and tomato horseradish soup. The crostini's were amazing! I'm not a huge horseradish fan but it was decent for dipping the crostini's. My parents always get the walleye and the pork schnitzel and love it, but this time it was off. The walleye was a bit dry and seemed like it needed a sauce or something. The pork schnitzel was tough. I ordered the shaved beef sandwich which was delicious with the Parmesan crusted sour dough. I definitely will try it again and maybe it was simply an off night. Crab stuffed mushrooms appetizer was just a little bland. So much so I almost took away one star. However, it like the rest of the meal came hot and fresh, that I just had to give this place five stars. The salmon was cooked perfect and the fillet was delicious. No complaints on the sides and the atmosphere was perfect for a social dinner with friends. Our waitress was really patient with us, as we stayed for an hour and a half to drink and talk. I have been here 3 times recently and the service, atmosphere, and food is amazing. I can honestly say we have had about every appetizer and everything is amazing. Our favorites are the crab stuffed mushrooms, calamari, jalapeño poppers, mini grilled cheese and tomato soup. We often prefer to eat a few apps or small plates as opposed to a large meal, but I have also had the Black and Bleu entree and the taste and quality of the meat was great. The drinks are also good. They do have some specials, but the bar is fully stocked and they can make you anything. I had them make me an espresso martini and it was spot on. I recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to eat in the basement (hint-hint). The basement also has a cool lounge if you just want to grab drinks and hang with friends. If you leave room for dessert, the bread pudding and peanut butter pie are both AMAZING!! they will not disappoint. What a surprising find in downtown Cicero. Step inside 10 West and you will soon forget you're in a small town in Indiana. The inside is surprisingly upscale and cosmopolitan - but the dress code is casual and the prices are very reasonable. 10 West has a nice event space with private bar for bigger groups / events. But make sure you head downstairs to the cellar, a speakeasy vibe basement bar with dark wood furniture. Really unique! I ordered the grilled salmon salad for dinner and it was good - very filling. I feel like this review isn't necessary because everyone loves it, but this is my husband and I's go to for date night. Consistency is KEY to wanting to go back to a place. We have tried everything from the Steak to tacos and EVERY. TIME. It's amazing!! I appreciate a smaller menu so that the dishes can be perfected but there is a little bit for everyone. Burgers, pasta, tacos and flatbreads. But most importantly their steak! You just can't go wrong. We tell everyone that goes, to eat in the basement because the atmosphere is so cool, makes you feel like you are dining some place really special. This review only reflects today's visit. We tried the new weekend brunch this morning, and I'm disappointed to say that we won't be back. We were seated promptly at our reserved time. We were first given regular dinner menus, but I inquired, and we were then given brunch menus instead. The server was prompt and friendly. We ordered biscuits & gravy, a 10 West omelette with potatoes, and a là carte scrambled eggs, toast, and potatoes. We waited 35 minutes for food. The toast arrived black. Completely burnt! How the kitchen thought that was okay to serve, or how the server thought that was okay to serve is hard to understand. The scrambled eggs were cold - not lukewarm, but completely cold. They had likely been sitting for 20 minutes or so. The biscuits were not fresh, and the bottom was too hard to cut through. The gravy was good. One order of the breakfast potatoes were dark brown through the entire stack. They were like burned potato chips. They could not be eaten with a fork or knife. Again, there were 2 missed opportunities for staff to note that this was unacceptable before serving. The other stack of potatoes looked much better, and at least had some soft spots in the middle. The 10 West omelet was supposed to have sausage and ham, but there was just one tiny half moon of smoked sausage in the entire omelet. When we informed the server that the eggs were cold, he said he'd replace them. When he returned with new eggs and new toast, he informed us that he could not find a cook, so he had to do it himself. Seriously?! I asked where the cooks are, and he said probably outside. We've dined at 10 West since it opened, and will continue to visit for dinner. We will skip the brunch until they get their kinks worked out. read more

THE DEMISE OF A FINE DINING, OLD SCHOOL STEAKHOUSE The wife and I recently went to 10 West for its Prime Rib special. I've enjoyed 10 West's Prime Rib numerous times over the years and considered it in my top 2. Our evening was, let's say, less enjoyable than what we had come to expect at 10 West; Typically, we have dined there at least twice a month over the past several years as it was one of our top places to relax with great food and a welcoming and comfortable ambiance. Now, there is a high probability that we will never eat there again. When we entered, we were greeted by the young ladies at the podium as usual. However, standing within a few feet was the new Manager, kind of hovering around. When I looked directly at him, he looked through me as if I wasn't standing there. Made me feel uncomfortable and as if I was insignificant to him. Not the welcoming greeting that we were used to from the previous Manager. PRIME RIB NIGHT has always been the highlight of my dining experiences at 10 West. Never missed an opportunity to partake. Our reservation was at 7:45, early enough that they shouldn't run out. But I still asked our server (Amy - one of 10 West's better servers) if my getting the Prime Rib "medium rare to the rare" was going to be a problem. She replied that there was plenty. However it was now $50 for the 14 oz portion, a significant increase from the last time I had it. That would be the most that I have ever paid for a Prime Rib, but it was OK because 10 West's would normally be worth the money. We ordered, had a drink and then my Caesar Salad was served. Glad to say it was still one of the best. Then my night really went to hell. When my "medium rare to the rare" Prime Rib was brought to the table, the chef came out with it. I had been served a well done piece of meat (probably the end cut). The chef said she knew it wasn't what I had ordered, but asked me to try the Prime Rib anyway to see if I might like it. I did and it was definitely over cooked for my tastes. I politely told the young lady that I didn't want it. She offered to cook me a ribeye which I declined, in that I specifically came for the Prime Rib. By that point I had been totally insulted on 2 levels; First that the kitchen knew (or should have known) when it received my order that there wasn't going to be any Prime Rib the way I ordered it; and should have told our server. And second, that the chef thought she could convince me that I might like it the way it was served and save the $50 sale. Like I was going to pay $50 for an overcooked piece of meat? When we paid our bill, without the charge for the Prime Rib, Amy said the chef had offered to send a free desert home with us. We declined - at that point we had enough of the 'New 10 West'. Additional observation: The menus were well worn and tattered; long past needing to be replaced - something you might see at a roadside diner, not a upscale restaurant. read more

Okay so here's the thing. I want to be a foodie. I really do. I want to eat unique foods prepared in unique ways at swanky establishments. BUT I AM MIDWESTERN AS THEY COME. I struggle to get my vegetables some days. I love a good bargain. And I like to be able to wear a sweater when I go out to eat. That's just how it is. That being said? 10 West nailed it. A fairly priced establishment with an American menu that breaks the norm. They have a unique bar menu that ranges from $7-10 for the mixed drinks. A dinner entree is $10-20. They prices compare to an Applebee's but the flavors blow any chain out of the water. I love when restaurants go over the top to make sure that they offer unique spins on classic flavors. And they delivered. The menu was very unique while having something for everyone. From classic full dinners such as in house egg noodle meals, burgers, and even gumbo. All made as a twist on comfort food. Furthermore, I hate going to a restaurant that has unique offerings only to be given tiny portions and not be able to enjoy it. Not a problem at 10 West. I left plenty full. Finally ? As you all know. I hate parking. 10 West is a swanky little place, perfect for a date night establishment, but is located with plenty of parking because it is in the middle of Cicero, Indiana!
