The food was not very good. There was a fly A FLY in the parmesan cheese bottle flying around and the waitress didn't realize till we said something. Shrimp came uncooked. And freakin 12$ for 4 pieces of shrimp and some lettuce. To top it off we got no money off or anything when the fly was in the cheese. Extremely gross, and was unhappy with my service. read more

Ordered a Stromboli and wings to go. The Stromboli was meat and cheese and they put their sauce on the side. It was on the small side but extremely tasty. Not a lot of meat, but loaded with cheese. The tomato sauce on the side was one of the best tasting sauces I ever had. Also had hot wings. They were very good. Their hot wings are naked, not breaded. The blue cheese was also tasty. The staff was friendly. The prices are very affordable. The wait for the food was average. I would return. read more

Called in two separate orders. One of the dishes (pasta with salmon) in the order was missing the included garlic knots and soup, as well as the added salmon. They left off the olives and the salsa on the order of loaded nachos. The Manhattan clam chowder was salty and tasted more like a vegetable soup. The wait was HORRIFIC. My husband and I were out in the area and we thought wanted to grab a quick bite to eat before heading back over to our way (an hour away) THIS WAS NOT QUICK. We were recommended here by a local & I have no idea why! My husband and I waited nearly 40 minutes for a pizza! A women that came in around the same time as us and left after simply paying for the drink and we wish we would've done the same than staying there and giving this place our service. Once we had our food, FINALLY. We got our check, which was about $5 more than we thought according to the menu and were not told that doing a splint of a plain pie and specialty pie was going to be the price of a FULL specialty pie, which doesn't make sense at all. And after voicing concern and also mentioned that we waited 40 minutes for our simple meal they did NOTHING and said the price was final. Tried both the Bagel Shack and The Shack - I think they are same ownership. GREAT food! We had flounder and the clams and linguine which were very good. The place is newly remodeled and clean. Warning: the place is small with all "hard surfaces" so the noise level is off the charts when it's full. We couldn't even have a conversation with the waiter. Recommend putting some noise dampening materials in the room. We'll be back but take out only. read more

The food gets a solid 4.5 stars, but the service--our waiter, specifically--was sorely lacking. Two of us ordered pasta dishes (fettuccine Alfredo for one and angel hair with pesto +salmon for the other). One other ordered the Tuna Steak and another ordered the turkey Club. All of us were very happy with our meals; except the two pasta dishes were supposed to come with soup and garlic rolls. We had to remind the waiter about the soup and rolls... and the rolls were not thoroughly cooked. There were a few other instances where we had to remind the waiter about things like refilling drinks. All in all a nice restaurant, but the wait staff needs a bit more training. read more

We have had some pretty good breakfasts and lunches in the past but after today, not likely to return. After seating ourselves, and 10 minutes later, got up to get ourselves menus. Another 10 minutes for water. We ordered salads one with chicken and one without. Several tables around us came after us and were served cooked food before we were served. Then our salads were in plain view for a while and when we asked if we could have them, we were told they were waiting for the chicken. Eventually both salads came with chicken and when we said we didn't order both with chicken, the waitress shook her head and walked away. She eventually brought the check and said she took 20% off but she charged us for the chicken anyway! In the meantime, several tables got up and left after no one came over to them after 15 minutes. The waitress also told us that it got really busy so they couldn't keep up. I wonder how they will manage once Beach season comes!!! read more

Had a great breakfast today VERY reasonably priced for the amount of food we got .. I got a bacon egg and cheese it came with delicious home fries. The only reason why this is a four star review is because our sweet waiter was working his butt off trying to serve the whole restaurant and also seat people and cash patrons out. He desperately needed some help also restaurant was a bit loud due to some screaming children and a group of parents encouraging the screaming however this is no fault of the restaurant. read more

Sorry but this place was terrible. Went for dinner with a group of 8. Problems with almost every dish. Mussels were over cooked, fish came out cold, chicken parm had one tiny piece of chicken, the sauce had a terrible taste, even one of the kids complained about his buttered pasta. Over rated and over priced. Spend your money somewhere else. Will not be going back. Felt bad for the server she kept apologizing but not her fault. The chef and the owner are to blame. We had dinner at The Shack tonight. It was very busy but they really did a great job keeping it together. The hostess was sweet and remembered our name. The servers were busy so one of the owners jumped right in and waited on our table. The buffalo chicken dip with house made chips was the best we've ever had. We tried the roasted brussel sprouts. Different and delicious. My son had a shack stack burger. It was large and my picky son enjoyed it. My husband and I shared a Cuban sandwich and Stromboli. We had to take the Stromboli to go. It was huge and we were stuffed from the apps and sandwich. Our other son had a personal pizza. He enjoyed every bite. If you are in Beach Haven and hungry, I highly recommend you stop there! read more

We came here early and there was no wait (thank god). The place is very cute and looks to be new. The food was ok, nothing really outstanding. We got the buffalo chicken dip and potato skins as appetizers which were just ok, I know, I know, basic but there's ways to jazz em up. My daughter got the pizza and she said it tasted like Pizza Hut, it didn't look that great but to be fair I didn't taste it. I got the blue Cheese wedge salad with chicken which was excellent. Lots of bacon poured on top, can't go wrong with that! The kids also got chicken fingers which were fried way too long, so they were rubbery. The fries were... Meh... The waitress dropped a tray of drinks on my friend and her 3 year old and while accidents happen, a discount of some sort would of been nice considering we had to take his shirt off and his shorts were soaked as was my friends dress but we just went with it. This place has quickly turned into a family favorite. It is BYOB which is nice for a family when you want to keep the bill lower. The menu has a great selection of foods, and the food has not disappointed. The good - atmosphere, although can be noisy when there is a full house, the menu, the food, and service. My husband who loves wings has determined these are the best on the island. Pizza - great. Wings - great. New England Clam Chowder - great!! The "not so" bad - My son ordered a burger but somehow the kitchen forgot to make it. It came out much later than the rest of our order. The Shack did good and comped that meal item. However, the second time we went something similar happened. The food was not ready all at the same time and our orders kept coming out at different times. There was about a 10 minute span from when the first person was served to the last person. We had a table of 6. We didn't get comped this time, and decided to let it go. We will be back, but I am hoping these kitchen issues git figured so this place can stay as one of our "go-to" spots! read more

Steer clear of this restaurant. Visited the new place with my family on vacation at LBI. The long and short is even after explaining that two of our party had dairy allergies. They served both persons dairy laden food. I might excuse the teenage waitress for her lack of knowledge. But not the manager who essentially told us it was our fault. New place down LBI near Fantasy island.... You can't tell from the outside but the inside is clean and new decor (Need a Bigger Sign!). Crab nachos were really good! My steak was cooked perfect and sides had just enough flavor. Everyone at my table liked their choices which included a burger/fries, Mac and cheese and a veggie panini. Fries remind me of wildwood board walk fries! Other patron said how awesome that the crab cakes were which makes me want to return before our vacation is over . My daughter really like that you can watch the cooks make pizza through the Big window. Remember this place is BRAND NEW so be patient when it comes to the wait staff as they get used to a new system lol. We will be back read more

Well it seems the person/persons with the allergy added 3 BAD reviews...ok ok we get it but did you ALL really have to write a review about it? We have been going to the Bagel Shack for years and this new place ( same owner as bagel shack) is pretty great! So far we have only been there 1 time , I had steak tacos, the salsa and chips(very good salsa) and my husband had a turkey club with fries. Everything was good . Disgusted and dissatisfied at The Shack!! We were eager to try this new restaurant which claimed to have "fresh fare" but were immediately turned off by the lack of cleanliness of the employees and general establishment. As soon as our drinks arrived, we killed an ant walking across the table. As we patiently waited 45 minutes for our meals, we were even more disgusted to watch the owner soak his long, unkempt hair in the restroom sink. I supposed his wet hair matched the rest of his beach outfit since it appeared that he was wearing a bathing suit. About 20 minutes later, food was delivered to a nearby table and we watched as the same man/owner delivered a lemon slice for a plate of calamari with his bare hand. There was a constant flow of about 10 different employees entering and exiting the kitchen area, none of which had their hair covered or wore gloves. Meals were not made with fresh ingredients and tasted bland. It was difficult forcing myself to eat the meal after witnessing all the ways this place would fail a health inspection. read more

First, I would like to start out by saying the decor and atmosphere of this place is very nice. They have the walls decorated in very cute local art. Second, the food and their prices are the two things that will make me consider coming back. Our group ordered 2 sandwiches, one chicken parm and one cheesesteak, both of which were delicious. We also had the Bert salad and a pasta dinner which were also very good. The reason I have to give this place 2 stars is because of the service. We walked into the restaurant and were greeted by a group of people in like to take out food. When we walked to the hostess stand, a very young girl was sitting at the stand and spoke far too quietly for us to understand her. After a few minutes of explaining that we needed a table of four we were finally sat next to a window. However, I don't think the host ever told the wait staff that we were sat because it took almost 10 minutes before we were brought drinks. Our waitress also seemed very young to be working at a busy restaurant on a weekend night and was difficult to understand at times. I really really enjoyed the food and I would be interested in returning, especially now that they serve wine, however, until they figure out the service situation, I will not return. I don't even know where to begin. AWFUL. NOT FRESH AT ALL!!! I was eager to try this new restaurant, especially because it claimed to serve "fresh fare". From the second I walked in I knew I should have run away. The very first table that I saw was taken up by employees who were eating and drinking while playing on their phones AND ROLLING SILVERWARE! Not only was this disgusting to watch, but it was super loud to listen to clanking silverware while trying to talk to family. We ordered waters and ice teas, which came without lemons. My friend ordered the manhattan chowder and it tasted exactly like Progresso's canned soup. When I asked for another water, the waiter took my cup and refilled it instead of replacing it with a fresh one. The worst part of the experience was watching how the OWNER handled food with his bare hands and paced back and forth from the bathroom to kitchen to delivering food to tables. He actually brought out a lemon with his bare fingers to a man sitting next to us. I ordered a burrito, which was literally refried beans in a paint-flavored tortilla. It came with nothing. It took about an hour for the food to come out and when our waiter came out to apologize he explained it was taking longer because we asked for peppers and onions in the cheesesteak. Who knows! Nothing on the menu looked or tasted fresh. This place needs to figure out what they are good at preparing (if anything), figure out how to reduce the crazy amount of noise, and at least pretend to handle food in a clean way. read more
