Dropped into Salt on a random off-season day and was pleasantly surprised! It's located inside the gorgeous Hotel LBI, and the décor alone is worth stopping in for... coastal chic with a touch of elegance, from the grand chandelier in the lobby to the cozy yet upscale Living Room lounge area. We started with oysters..fresh, briny, and perfectly chilled and the tuna tartare stacked over creamy avocado with crisp taro chips, which was a standout. My lobster pasta was rich and flavorful, though the noodles were a bit more al dente than I usually prefer. My date went for the short rib, which was melt-in-your-mouth tender over a smooth carrot purée. Everything was beautifully presented and clearly made with care. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, service, and overall experience make it worth it. Service was warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the whole atmosphere felt relaxed yet refined. We had a delicious dinner at Salt Kitchen & Bar to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the experience was lovely. The bread service was unexpectedly phenomenal the rolls were warm, fresh, and honestly one of my favorite parts of the meal. We started with a charcuterie board, which was just okay--not bad, but nothing special. On the other hand, the burrata we shared was excellent. The heirloom tomatoes were so fresh, and the drizzle of balsamic brought everything together beautifully. For my main, I ordered the salmon, and it was cooked perfectly: crispy on the outside, soft and tender inside. The rice that came with it was surprisingly flavorful, and I couldn't stop eating it. We also ordered the truffle fingerling potatoes on the side, and they were absolutely heavenly: crispy, rich, and totally addictive. read more

For all we tried the Greek spreads. Better than expected. It came with sickly sliced cucumbers and pita and hummus that was top of tabouli that had a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds on top and a decent amount of olives. It was very light and refreshing. We had three entrées one was the chicken dish one was the halibut and one was the cod. Every dish was delicious. I opted for the parm truffle fries instead of home fries for a slight up charge - worth it in my opinion the parm truffle fries were great! The signature cocktails and oysters are divine and the fresh seafood offerings are fabulous. I tried halibut -- for the first time might I add -- and it was incredible! A fresh summer salad, fingerling potatoes, and the filet topped with a Dijon cream sauce: devoured in under 5 minutes. Disappointed. Seafood Pasta dish - said scallops and shrimp. There was 1 scallop cut into quarters and I shrimp equally cut. $48. Waiter told us that a favorite scallop dish was taken off the menu because the chef said they were too expensive. Halibut - 2"x3" piece. $42. 2 fingerling potatoes on the side. Tuna Tatar app was very good. Food was all tasty - but felt like we were ripped off. Big corp worried about profit margin not doing the best for the guest. Waiter was great. Extremely disappointing experience. The only thing we liked about this restaurant was the atmosphere and the decor. One downside was we could hear music from the ballroom that was planning for a wedding. The service was very slow and scattered. We told the server that we did not like the ceviche that was on special and his response was "oh but you like everything else"? And then he just walked away. We order two glasses of the same wine but they came out in different wine glasses, with different amounts. Our filet was over cooked, lacked flavor, and was a low quality of meat. The only item we liked was the burrata and the crab cake that came on out steak (the crab cake was an additional $35 to add it to the steak). Would not recommend- you will pay very high prices for VERY below average food. read more

We went for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. It was a Wednesday night and, to be fair, there was a special event being held which could have contributed to the excessive noise in the dining room. However, the dining room was only half full but so noisy that my wife and I could not have a conversation. It was the holiday season and the room did feature a beautiful Christmas tree. However, the tables were void of any special features - no center pieces, no candles, etc. Simply a table cloth, wine and water glasses, a bread dish, silverware cloth tablecloth and napkins. We ordered wine and skipped the appetizers. My wife ordered the halibut which she enjoyed. I ordered the skirt steak which was not available. I was offered an 8oz sirloin. The eatable part of it was very good but with so much grizzle it was only 1/2 eaten. It was served with French fries and Brussels sprouts (for an additional charge. We requested bread when we saw it on a couple other tables. No dessert, and no acknowledgment of our anniversary (it was noted on on reservation made on Open Table). The bill was $115 before tip (wine $6 a glass each, Brussels sprouts $15. And two meals approximately $40 each, + tax) Prices were more than fair for a gourmet restaurant. Service was good. But it's not gourmet and because of the noise, the quality of the food and the lack of any special features it's a place to go for perhaps "happy hour" but not for a special occasion read more

This place is an absolute gem of LBI! Located inside of the gorgeous Hotel LBI, valet is complimentary for those dining at the restaurant. The service was very good, and I loved that they offered seasonal specials. We really enjoyed the fresh burrata appetizer as well as the chicken and halibut entrees. Saw a few Strongly negative reviews on this Restaurant in the LBI Hotel in Surf City, NJ. But must say had a 6:30 dinner reservation for 5 with a baby also and was happy to say the experience was excellent, from being greeted by the valet, to leaving . Our waiter Matt was fantastic, drinks were perfect, food very good, will agree with other comments that it was a little overpriced, but it's a summer vacation spot so I can see the prices. Our table had the strip steak, Halibut, crab cake. No dessert. I thought it was 5 star service. Sorry to see some reviews were not happy. Last night I sat at the bar. Asked for food and drink menu. Proceeded to have two cocktails an app, salad and an entree. Two people sat next to me at the bar as I was finishing up, bartender gave them a list of specials as well as an over view and highlights of the menu. I got none of this. Long time customers who have always gone on our trips. Over the years we have spent thousands of dollars there. Last night the service involved a waitress who in no way acknowledged the 6 people not ordering from the bar. The insult to injury was being nickle and dimed for a $5 a plate fee to cut a small cake. ($60). After explaining to a kid who I guess was "the manager" that we would be ordering lots of wine, steaks and additional desserts but that it felt penny wise and pound foolish to insist on this egregious extra fee, I was told with the bed side manner of an angry teenager that there was "absolutely nothing he could do and this was their policy." Fair enough. We spent our last thousand bucks there and you lost 12 customers instead of $60 in revenue. The food is good, and the second server they sent over, Tim, was much better, but it's not a good enough experience to come back if that's the kind of attitude they take to people who are in there every season. read more

This was my second time at SALT. We had to wait a few minutes for our table but otherwise, the service was very attentive. The food is elevated, though not quite to the level of the prices. Some dishes are spectacular (Yellowtail Tartare) but others miss the mark (Scallops). $65 for halibut, $99 for a ribeye, as if it were a Daniel Boulud restaurant? It's LBI. The ambiance is loud. First visit to Salt, just have to look past all the construction surrounding the property. The valet and hostess teams were were both very welcoming and attentive. The service was excellent, our server Bobby was a true pleasure! We did have the oysters and they were just fair but our entrees were excellent, cooked perfectly and delicious.
