The Arlington was such a fantastic choice for a nice date night on the island. Firstly, they have a parking lot - how fabulous. The interior is gorgeous. Beautiful fireplace and lovely decor. The staff was great and attentive. We tried a little of everything. My boyfriend is still dreaming of the blackened chicken wings. I tried the mussels as an appetizer and the sauce was to die for. I'm shocked I did didn't ask for more bread to dunk in that delectable jus. We also got the cheesesteak and the fish and chips. Both delicious fresh and the hand cut fries were a great touch. I believe the owners of this restaurant also own Daymark, which I can't wait to try as well. Loves this restaurant and can't recommend it enough. read more

We loved the holiday, lodge's feel that this restaurant has, and the food is delicious too! We sat in the bar area, and the bartenders were great! There was one guy playing guitar music, not too loud, which made the atmosphere cozy. They have a great cocktail list if you want to try something new. The wedge salad was large and had a twist- it had a different type of dressing, crispy onion on top, and traditional blue cheese crumbles. The cheese steak comes with thick-cut fries, and the crab cake main had coleslaw on the side, which was crisp and served with a light dressing. Looking forward to dining again soon. read more

So, Wifey and I always have one night out alone (the kids go out and do the same) and tonight we decided to try The Arlington. We weren't 100% sold because of some of the reviews, but still gave it a shot. We made a 6pm reservation online and were able to park in the lot adjacent to the restaurant. We were seated immediately and the hostess gave us a table by the front window. Nice, out of the way, allowed us to chat and people watch. We were initially shocked at how empty the place was for a 6pm reservation, but by the time we were done the place was packed. Out waitress came over and took our drink order (she never introduced herself, which always kind of annoys me). I ordered the Barrel -aged Manhattan (it came on the rocks though I ordered it up) and Wifey ordered The Maverick - gin, Aperol, lemon, Ginger, mint. For starters we had the Steamers special - in a white wine garlic butter sauce with grilled or charred shallots and Chargrilled oysters with spinach, panko, cheddar, and hot sauce. For our entrees Wifey had the NY strip with seasoned potatoes and I had the Crab cakes. Steak was excellent...the crab cakes were small for the price, but full of meat. Delicious Cole slaw. Appetizers were also great - my steamers were different than I've ever had because the flavor of the shallots really added a ton of flavor. Drink prices are ridiculous (they are everywhere on the island, but especially for the size of the Maverick. Food was great, service was ok (though our waitress wasn't very enthusiastic), you'll pay Island prices here, and place gets VERY loud so be aware. read more

Extensive beer list. Spacious new restaurant. Bathroom wasn't touched from what was here prior. Very tight and not upgraded at all. Burger was good, cheesesteak where is the meat? All bun that wasn't even toasted. Fried calamari over battered as well, where is the calamari, they even fried the lemons ..??? What a waste and low quality food spot. I have to say, this was our second time dining here and I was not impressed like I was the first time. The restaurant has been remodeled and looks great. They have plenty of seating, outdoor dining and a private parking lot which is a huge plus. The staff is friendly and do their job very well from the minute you walk in. However, the food was ok. I expected more for the price. They serve alcoholic drinks, portions were a good size, but some of the dishes were bland or had too much sauce and covered up the flavors of the meat. AVOID THIS EXPENSIVE TOURIST TRAP!!!!! At all costs.... i Had a disappointing experience at Arlington Bar. Service was inattentive, despondent bald bar tender looked scared to be there and took a long time to get our order, and the kitchen sent out the wrong dishes while we waited to even place an order! that sure made us hungry. I understand alot of the staff is under-age but the prices were all $20+ and for what? "beef tallow" sysco fries? The bathroom needed attention i could see vape clouds emanating out and a constant stream of employees. For a small group, we felt deprioritized compared to larger tables of which there weren't many to begin with. I understand this place suffered a fire recently but that was years ago its sad to see the outcome today. I got a clearer picture of what's actually going on behind the scenes when i entered the bathroom and it smelled like a weed pen. the blonde food runner/ bar maid? with a baseball cap, who was ironically very immature and rude when he greeted us seemed to be staring at us constantly, dont know what was up with that? if you get an order wrong best not to stare at the customer, maybe apologize, or get new food? The staff seemed disengaged and checked out. The overall vibe was off in ways that went beyond just bad service. The atmosphere felt unprofessional and sketchy. After witnessing the dynamic and energy at this place, the poor service suddenly made sense. its MDW and they were empty and this was the service/ "dining" experience so best to go anywhere else. we chose porthole for the 90th! just up the street. it was mobbed but didnt matter we were sat promptly and taken care of by half the staff arlington had! and lovely speakeasy pizza where you feel like family, not a petty outsider in a loser resteraunt clique. i've heard from others these same workers get off shift and immediately start drinking at the bar, gambling on the sports on tv and making an unpleasant environment. AVOID and save yourself a night of unpleasantness. There are far better choices that can give you IPA's... seemingly there only real draw. read more

I have dined at the Arlington on two other occasions and had no plans to return until my daughter booked this restaurant for six of us. I was even less impressed than I have been before the pasta dish. My wife had was tasteless. My crabcakes were all filler without much crab, a duck dish, one of my guests ordered was much too salty service was somewhat slow, but our server was very pleasantn my check was $329 plus a m$82 tip . I usually over tip. This is not a bad price for a moderate plus restaurant of which this is not. The service was pretty rough. Our server never introduced herself and came off more like a frazzled, annoyed lunch lady--rushing around, clearly disorganized. She had us pay on a tablet at the table, which felt impersonal. We ended up tipping well out of sympathy, but honestly, it wasn't earned. That said, the food was surprisingly good for the most part. The crab cakes were excellent, and the salad was tasty, even though the feta cheese was clearly low quality. Shrimp and grits were solid, while the short rib was disappointing--not tender at all. They were out of one of the main drinks we wanted, and the fries tasted like Popeyes (not necessarily a bad thing). Despite everything, we actually had a blast. read more

We made a Resy reservation for 7:15pm and were told to wait to be seated for 8 of us which was what we booked! We waited until 7:30pm to be seated. Our appetizers were fine but sparse portions. The blackened chicken wings were only 6 pieces and the calamari was small over fried as well. The pretzel came with very small container of cheese for dipping. The mac n cheese was not creamy or cheesy -- it was dry.. when told to the server she replied: it's homemade! I am a great cook so I know how to make creamy cheesy Mac n cheese but this was our going out to dinner night and expected a great deal More for the prices paid ($30/entree!) organic chicken was in a pool of "lemon" sauce as per the menu but the chicken was overly bland not seasoned and had no lemon taste at all. The fish and chips looked like they were frozen before fried and came out cold. we sent it back and ordered the cheesesteak and the cheese on top was unappealing but at least hot. The panini was pressed so firmly and thinly accompanied by tepid limp fries! it was a very uneven evening that we are all left to feel that we will not be coming back again. Just saw some recent reviews along similar lines and we unfortunately have to agree. Giving 2 stars for the drinks and the appetizer taste. read more

I don't like to leave negative reviews but , I'm a retired chef of 45 years, and would want the real truth, so improvements can be made. I've been to this restaurant on other occasions, so I'm not basing my experience on 1 visit. It's a mid-range restaurant, with upper end prices, and I have no problem paying, if the experience is good. The servers are all dressed differently, mostly black tee shirts. In a restaurant trying to come off as one of the better restaurants on the island. Ordered calamari app. Reasonably priced but when it came to the table I had to look twice, a smaller portion, and that's fine if it was only calamari, but it had jalapeño, lemon slices and onion all fried together, which is also fine but when the components of the dish exceed the calamari, not a good thing. There were 4 of us, and we had dinner early because we were going to a show, so the reservation was 5:30 , when one of us asked for French onion soup, the server had to check because she said there were only a FEW left ! It's 5:30 on a Saturday night, Valentine Day !! Come on also not a good look . The 4 of us ordered different things, 2 on the regular menu and 2 specials , 3 out of 4 very disappointed. The NY strip steak ,I have to say was VERY good cooked the way asked for and juicy and delicious. But it all stopped there. Service was below average, the bill was 300 bucks without the tip , for full disclosure there were 2 house wines , 2beers and a Diet Coke.... I enjoy going out to eat , and price isn't an issue, but when you leave still hungry and not satisfied it all adds up to a bad experience, not to return.last note in the summer when the island is FULL of vacationers you can get away with that type of performance , because people change every two weeks, and new dinners come in. I used to eat here once a year when I come down. I would get the duck. Yesterday I got the duck and was NOT impressed with the changes to the recipe. It also came MW when I asked for it to be MR. The accompaniments of the fennel is gross and the kumquats on top were barley cooked. All in all the recipe is not good this year. And then someone had the bacon mac and cheese and the pieces were huge SOFT bacon chunks - gross. The kale Brussels salad was very good. read more

We have been here 2x on two different vacations in LBI. I remember being concerned by reviews the first time, but went anyway and had a wonderful time. We came again, seeing the negative reviews, and I honestly don't know where they are coming from! We had great food BOTH visits. Their Tres Leche cake is so delicious. We ordered fresh oysters, and their mussels in wine sauce. Excellent. For dinner we had their seafood pasta and a scallop special, with Mexican street corn for a side. Drinks were generously poured. Wine and old fashioned. We really enjoy it here, it's a great spot. Service was friendly and attentive! Maybe weekends it's different but our waitresses have been excellent both times. We were really hoping for a great experience at The Arlington, especially after confirming our party details - including three young children in our party of nine and two family birthdays - both through Resy and my two follow-up phone calls. While the staff was polite and accommodating when we arrived early at 5:30PM, and we appreciated being seated in a family-friendly space, the food and overall experience fell short. Service was attentive, but the food was hit-or-miss. My pork chop was dry and heavy on cornbread stuffing, the short ribs were overly fatty and half the dish was left uneaten, the pasta dish was smothered in ragu. The two swordfish entrees were the best of the six adult meals. The worst - my wife's medium rare steak came out well done. Though the server sent it back without hesitation, the replacement took 15+ minutes and had to be packed to-go since the most of the table was already finished. No offer was made to adjust the check for the delay on a $68 entrée. A birthday dessert arrived with a candle but was left at the table without any festivity and charged in full. On the fence about this one....got there at 745 and was told we'd be seated in 45 min...first table was in the far side of the parking lot in complete pitch black...there were burst of lightening in the sky so we asked to be moved to a table under the tent where they had light bulbs but we were told those tables were for other reservations so we were more than a little annoyed that the tables under the tent "were spoken for" despite the tables remaining empty until they finally moved us there after I took the picture at 915. despite two tables front and center and a couple other empties were in the back. The food was decent but the service and seating experience just set the wrong tone and not sure we'll be back. read more

The short and quick review is The Arlington is a good spot for a drink, but their dinner menu is quite expensive for what you get. ---- They have solid cocktails, a good beer menu with lots of different items on tap, and a nice variety of bourbon and whiskey/whisky. The ambience is rustic, but they have large tables and open seating areas inside and outside to accommodate large groups. The service is solid and the food came out quickly. However, we went on a Wednesday and it wasn't too busy. I'm not sure what their wait times would look like on a weekend when they're slammed. The one area that I wasn't overly impressed with was the food. I had the bucatini with seafood in a cioppino sauce and my wife had the scallops special. The food tasted good, but the portions were small for the price. For example, the scallop special was essentially a few seared scallops on a celery purée with a balsamic sauce. That's it. Where to start?! While The Arlington may come off unassuming from the exterior, it's anything but. From the drinks, to the quality and presentation of the food, this is an absolutely top tier restaurant, worthy of upper echelon NYC dining accolades. The cocktails, reasonably priced between $10-12 a piece, were refreshing, not too sweet and well made with quality ingredients. The appetizers were the perfect portions, with interestingly delicious takes - from the shishito peppers in dulce de leche / sea salt drizzle, to the blackened wings with a delicious sauce, it was a great start. Moving on to the main courses, they were impressively well displayed, with the right portions, and all were full of flavor meeting the expectations of the presentation. Easily the best food on the island! Cocktails where mixed to perfection. We ordered the Aioli Calamari, Shrimp and Grits, as well as the Ribeye special, all of which were so flavorful and excited our taste buds. The only comment would be that the portions were a bit small, but honestly not sure if it was the kind of day we had, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. We're leaving the island with a sense that we need to make a trek down here again soon. Great day at the beach and nice cap to the day with an elegant and delicious meal along with fantastic service top to bottom. BTW highly recommend the Paloma and the Strawberry Negroni, but at this point I'm pretty sure all the cocktails are great.
