I have been to the Arlington so many times and most recently was incredibly disappointed. We had a reservation and were sat promptly. However we waited forever for our waitress to come. I like how convenient the Arlington is to the beach. With all the fresh seafood being served, it is awesome that the restaurant is so close to the source! The decor at the Arlington is old school dark wood with wallpaper sporting artsy pufferfish. Something about the way the restaurant looks let's you know you're going to be getting some delicious seafood. I ordered the kale salad, which is pretty much a Caesar salad, and I added the blackened shrimp. The salad was very good, not over-dressed at all, and I loved the added flavor that came from the blackened shrimp. I also ordered the raw oysters that came from LBI. The oysters were fresh, salty, and delicious. They arrived to the table with lemon, cocktail sauce, and vinegar. I would've liked some more creativity with the condiments but the oysters were so good they didn't really need it. I was very happy with the food at the Arlington, but everything was just a bit over priced. My salad was $17 after I added the shrimp and all together it was not a lot of food. My new favorite LBI spot! Stumbled upon The Arlington while visiting friends down the shore and thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. Our server Shannon was amazing and made all the right suggestions. The mojito clams were excellent and the sweet flavor added a nice twist. My mom and I loved the duck entree and LOVED the drinks even more. Their new specialty grapefruit-tequila drink was our favorite. We ordered the chocolate mousse to finish off and were not disappointed - it's my mom's favorite dessert but she can never find the perfect one that doesn't taste "instant". This was THE one! Arlington is one of our favorite local spots- especially for their apps, draft beers, and barrel aged whiskey. Their wings are my absolute favorite around, crispy and seasoned amazingly. Oysters are also a must try! The atmosphere is nice overall, but we mostly enjoy sitting near the bar area which has more of an eclectic city feel. The service is always friendly and good, but it does get busy so be prepared to wait at times. Definitely worth checking out and an added bonus is being able to dine outside on a nice evening. read more

Great spot for any occasion! The menu has something for everybody, and all of it was amazing! Definitely suggest the steamed mussels as an appetizer, probably the best mussels I've ever had. Just went back post COVID and yup.. it's still on point. Food is creative and fresh, service didn't miss a beat at a table of 7 in a packed house. Beer selection continues to be awesome. We tried this place because of a recommendation from a friend for good lobster roll and it was a HUGE mistake. We spent $220 got 6 lobster rolls, Philly cheesesteak, crab cakes, wedge salad, and bacon Mac and cheese. First of all, the menus on yelp and the website don't match and it's more expensive when you actually order. The lobster rolls were horrible. They were small and INCREDIBLY fishy. As soon as you open the container it smells and one of my friends gagged. Only half of us could actually eat it because that is how bad it was. Also, the fries were cold when we got them. Worst of all, my friend found a hair in her mac and cheese. Legit pulled it out of her food. It was disgusting. We then called to get a refund and Paul, the manager, and explained the situation. He told us WE had to drive the food back to him to get a refund. I have never had a restaurant make me drive food back when THEY make a mistake. This was our first visit during Covid and winter -- no seats set up at the bar but there were plenty of open tables in bar area. We went for drinks and the happy hour specials. It's lent so I opted for the fried calamari and shrimp cocktail plus a dirty Tito's martini. The martini was spot on-- delicious! Calamari was very good but next time I will skip the shrimp. Three medium size shrimp with not so hot hot sauce for 7.00 - better off getting something else. Hubs got a dozen oysters (mixed) and an IPA - he was very happy. Looks very promising. Beer selection very wide but had somehow got the impression that they had their own. Flight glasses were on the small side from what I've seen elsewhere so the 12 bucks for 4 different beers was not impressive. Dinner was ok. The paella was undercooked and had to be sent back. Waitress said that that is how it is made. Al Dante is one thing.. But this was undercooked. Have been to Spain even and this was not that! Scallop special was good but the sweetness of the polenta was a bit overpowering. The scallop could have been a little bigger too - seemed like 2 scallop cut in half to look like 4. Stone bass was decent. Tasty. But the artichokes were a little awkward. Seems like it needed a more sophisticated sauce. Short ribs got the thumbs up but portions were too small. Kids burgers for the little ones were dense. But no complaints from the kids so I guess it was ok. Bottom line, nothing special.. Ok.. Stopped in on Saturday in the early afternoon with a group of us for a drink. We weren't even greeted by the bartender but he continued to make extremely rude comments to our entire group. We gave him a few chances and wound up leaving without ordering after he only became increasingly rude. The group of us (all around 30) have lived here our whole lives and most have and still bartend and serve on the island. Not a way to treat any guest let alone a group of easy-going locals in the off season. We heard good things about this place so we made a reservation (we went at 6:30pm on a Thursday and realized upon walking in that we didn't need to make a reservation for 10). The building is nice and the staff were all friendly. The complimentary bread was freshly made, but the crust was too hard and difficult to bite into. The soup of the day was Coconut Curry Lobster which sounded interesting, so I decided to give it a go. It had a very unique and powerful flavor that was good at first but got old quickly. Some lobster bits or something of substance would have made the soup a lot better. The braised short rib was extremely salty and very heavy on soy sauce. The outside of the rib was nice and moist but the inside was dry. It came with bok choy which was the best part of the dish. The other side veggies were drenched in the salty sauce which made it hard to eat. Do NOT get the lobster roll. It is extremely small and my friend found a bunch of shell pieces. Been here a few times, it's not bad but won't blow you away. Most recently I ordered the cod sandwich, which I definitely would not recommend. They give you a small filet of cod with a lot of bread and mayo/coleslaw. I also tried calamari and beets dishes as an appetizer, which were good. Only drawback is that the serving sizes were small. Aside from the food, I noticed that this place has a strange reservation system. I called asking for a 6pm reservation and they told me that they didn't have availability at 6, but could take me at 5:45. I said sure no problem, but when I got to the restaurant I was surprised to see plenty of seating. I had a similar experience to this earlier in the summer. [4.50 Stars] Off-season restaurants that can deliver on the level of The Arlington are rare on Long Beach Island-- an area with many outstanding upscale restaurants. Our group of four thoroughly enjoyed last Saturday's dinner. The Arlington appears to have at least two dining rooms. Ours was a welcoming combination of rustic brick and wood, with a wood-burning fireplace. Yet despite the figurative warmth of the room, our corner table was both chilly and breezy. Perhaps another log on the fire might have been a good idea! In general, the service was friendly, competent and acceptably paced. Our small water glasses, however, repeatedly went dry. Pretty much everything else-- including the food-- was exceptional. We began with Starters; French Onion soup, Crispy Chicken Skins and Shrimp and Grits (with Andouille and a light chilli glaze). The Chicken Skins were a menu curiosity that we couldn't resist. They arrived as a plentiful bowl of breaded and fried chicharron, neither hard nor greasy, and very good. The off-season Arlington menu has an abridged number of entrees; about a dozen pasta, fish, poultry, vegetable, beef and seafood choices. Creative spin was applied through their selection of interesting and tasty plate accompaniments, and it was in this area that the skills of a very talented kitchen were apparent. My selected entry was the Pan Seared Salmon, served with pomme (potato) puree, sauteed leaf spinach and slivers of marinated white anchovy (barquerones) in a delicate wine reduction. The salmon skin was a crispy and perfectly cooked as any I've ever had, while the meat was a juicy medium-well done. It was an excellent fork-full, yet when paired with the spinach and barquerones, the salmon became a role player in a well-assembled "perfect bite." The potatoes seemed to be more of an afterthought, but they were made well. Others in our group enjoyed the Viking Village Swordfish (sticky black rice, mushroom reduction), Oven Roasted Eggplant (tomato confit, hummus and spicy vinaigrette), and Spaccatelli pasta (butternut squash, seared brussles sprouts and hazlenuts). Everybody appeared very pleased with their selection. Appetizer and entree were filling and satisfying. At an average (with tip) of about $36 per person, the price value was very good. We got here, ordering a half a dozen of oysters, one of them had a SANDWORM which was only replaced by another one when we showed it to them rather than giving us a new half dozen plate. They brought out our cocktails which weren't bad except one was filled less than half of the cup it was in. The food came first and then the oysters. The sharing plates were as small as nickels.Overall the people who served us were very nice but the place lacks Love for the customers. Then I had an apple-cider pork chop that was simply *outstanding*. The apple cider flavor was on point and the meat was very tender. For dessert, I had a sort of pudding with cream that was very heavy but delicious. The party then moved to the bar where they have many TVs and an extensive beer list. I'd hang out there if I was around and in town. I'm not from Jersey and I don't go to the shore, so I don't know that I'll ever be back that way. The only miss was a cold sweet potato. Still, all the plates were empty by the time we were done. It's a shame the outdoor tables weren't being used for dining, because the indoor dining room is quite noisy and it is hard to even hear across the table at times. There were only two servers and two runners, and an unexpected rush of diners had arrived, but they were doing a great job given the circumstance. Another member of my party had the chicken and waffles (which was solid) and another had the Cesar salad (which idk what was going on but it wasn't even so much a "wedge salad" as it was a "stick salad". Odd presentation). Entree: Options again were odd and just plain off. Crab cakes were bone dry and a little gritty, one of the people in my party ordered an eggplant dish and was served a half-cooked whole eggplant, and my duck was overcooked and the sauce was just off-putting.
