Went to the shack for breakfast on Sunday 10/11/20. It was extremely disappointing. The creamers for coffee were 7 months out dated with ghe consistency of greek yogurt, no hot tea, no jelly, spinach omelet had tons of hot salsa on top. My family and I left. Half dozen guys unloading retail food from a van out back while another one suspiciously kept watch. This place seemed more like a front for something else rather than a food place. My wife called again on October 3rd to double‑check, and she received the same confirmation. Despite all of that, when we arrived on October 4th, the restaurant was closed for Chowderfest. This is an annual event at LBI, there is no excuse for the staff and management to be unaware of it when giving customers information. To make matters worse, when we called the restaurant while standing outside, the outbound message had already been updated to say they were closed for Chowderfest. As someone who works in retail management, I recognize this for what it is: poor planning and complacency. It turned what should have been a special family tradition into a frustrating experience.
