    On April 26th I went and purchased two bearded dragons along with all the tanks and accessories. We had the pleasure of having Jess help us. She is very knowledgeable and friendly. We had them put out tanks together so we knew it would be right for our dragons. I absolutely love the set up. I named my dragon Buddy! I feel Buddy is extremely happy in his habitat. These reptiles require live bugs to eat so we go at least weekly to get food for them. Every time we come in we are greeted and helped promptly. Everyone in there is super friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this place!!! On another visit I took Buddy for a spa treatment. He got a bath and the complete treatment. It was a 30 minute procedure and he was pampered from head to toes....

    I was asked to bring my bearded dragon in Aries my baby girl cause they wanted to see her for what i thought was parasites. Well i take her in and shes checked out by 2 workers the male worker looked and said she has a respitory infection but not in a bad state yet and to take her home and "bake her" basically just turn up the heat and let it clear. My dragon died 2 days later. Come to find out the heat which was properly and safely temp, is a no for resp infections because it basically suffercates them by taking the air they already are not getting much. I lost my baby. I have been grieving so hard cause she was not bad like anyone would think she would die and i was told to do something that basically killed her. They are not vets ill never take anyones advice whos not a vet i dont care if they have 50yrs experience with reptiles they gave me horrible advice that killed my baby cause they were very wrong. I hate this store they are trash.

    Weird pricing choices. Went in a while back for hoppers. They told me they were sold out, and gave me the largest fuzzies available. But charged me for hoppers. Didn't notice until I got home, but let it go. Went back for small adult mice. I was told "these are our jumbos"...but they were small adult mice. I said "jumbos are a lot bigger than that" and he replied, "I know, but this is the biggest we have". Ok look, just because it's the biggest you have does not make them jumbos. And guess what I was charged for? Jumbos. Ridiculous. Here is a picture of a jumbo next to what they sold me and charged me for as a jumbo. Frustrating, because I really liked this place and the people, but I don't understand their charging practices.

    I love how knowledgeable the staff is about every question you have. The price on different items are definitely reasonable. If you're into reptiles you should come to this establishment, they will take care of all your needs.

    We bought a 4 month old Bearded dragon three weeks ago. He/she has been very healthy since I purchased her. The knowledgeable staff is always willing to help with any questions that I have. Would highly recommend going here instead of those big pet stores.

    Quite hot and smelly inside but that's not what is most disappointing. Went in to return a ceramic heater and the person i was met with was sort of rude tone and she said i didnt even need the 100w bulb for my size tank and was making assumptions about my situation and didn't really have good communication skills. I instead traded off the bulb for some repashy gecko food and 100 ct mealworms and 12 ct LARGE dubias (important for later). She then went to check if she had them and left us at the counter so we just looked around and they found us and said i got them. So we went to the front and charged us for debit then we waited for the pay screen to pop up on the card swiper and she said i'll get ur mealworms so we continued to look around and saw such an emaciated malnourished bearded dragon in a tank. She said she could ring us up and we paid. We then waited for her to hand us our items because she only gave back our mealworms then she handed the dubias and food to what i found was a few super small dubias to which i paid extra for to make them large.

    AmaIng place! We got our little Bowie here back in November. We come her for all his items and they even check him out for a health check. He had issues with his eye and recommended a vet. They are awesome and we love going here! Great prices and they make you feel welcomed. Thank you guys!

I've never had an issues but I usually am just in and out (not the burger but you know) They have a good selection when it comes to pet supplies. We've been in for both our pups and our fish. They have a variety of fish in the back - (fresh and salt water) along with all the tank supplies. Take a look at their NFS tank - it's always filled with cool fish. They have an awesome selection of dog treats/food. The dog food is located in a separate section of the store - hard right when you enter & through another doorway. What keeps me coming back is the staff. On one visit, a cashier let me know a brand I'd been buying had gone downhill in quality and handed me samples of her top picks. That kind of honest, helpful advice is hard to find. The checkout area also tends to have timely impulse buys (hello, 4th of July calming chews) that actually come in handy. Great neighborhood pet shop with knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend!

Rachael and David, who I believe may be the owners, or at the very least managers (along with their staff), are always friendly, inviting and extremely knowledgeable about animals and what food, or toys may be best for your pet based on your circumstances. They are always inviting and willing to help. I have also found that the pet food products they carry are typically healthier for your pet, more so than you may find at the big chains and box stores. The quality and price points of the pet food are fair and they often times have promotions and discounts. Many of the promotions are buy 12 and get your next one free (ie; bag or case of food etc.). Also, on weekends they have vaccination clinics and sometimes adoption events. They even have a dog wash inside. Check with the store to find out when and how often the Vaccine clinics, pet adoptions and dog wash is available. This place is located in Modesto, in a shopping center that looks like an old western town (corner of Tully and Standiford). Bottom line, I am glad to have found a personable store for all my pets' needs and to be able to help support a local small business.

Tl;dr: Their return policy is deceptive and only explained on the receipt, and they refuse to take care of their customers. I bought a $20 electric heater for my kid's beta that was recommended to me by them, and even on the lowest setting, it was too hot for the fish and almost killed it. I came on day 10 of the 14 day return policy to get my money back, and they told me that they can't return electronics. I asked about the 14 day policy, and they said it doesn't apply to electronics. When I told them that I was never informed of the policy before buying it, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it in the first place, they didn't care and said it's on the receipt. ...You know, the ONLY place where this policy is posted to customers. The one you can only know about AFTER you buy something. It's aparently too "redundant" to state the policy that you can't return the product you're about to buy prior to buying the product. That policy. I asked if I could get store credit or replace it with one that works, and they refused. I was told I can contact the manufacturer to get a replacement heater. Everyone knows that the obvious choice a business should make when dealing with returns is to say "Nope. Not my problem." It's best business practice. Duh. On Monday (today), I went to to talk to the owner about the situation. He stood by his associates and said it's the responsibility of the customer to ask about the return policy, and did not understand why the policy would be unclear if the first time the return policy was explained was after it was purchased. He also seemed to not understand the difference between a warranty and a return policy, and was comfortable keeping the communication about their return policy solely on the receipt. He also didn't think he should go about and explain the warrant on any product you buy with him. When I told him I wouldn't be returning, he still didn't seem to grasp the problem of what happened. I want to support small, local businesses, but this place isn't worth it. They're happy to take your money, but then refuse to actually do any proper customer service when issues arise.

Today, Teddy was groomed by Janette Lopez at PetSmart on Mchenry. She gave my girl one of the best haircuts she has EVER had ANYWHERE. Due to her curly coat, more often than not I am told "she is matted and will need to be shaved down". I know this is not always the case because I do brush her regularly. I have always suspected it was just lazy grooming and todays experience solidifies that. Janette took her time and gave my girl so much love. She is soft and fluffy and feels and smells amazing! First she tried to claim that I returned it late, even though I had rented it earlier that same day and was returning it early. I told her to look again, and that wiped the smug smirk off her face. But that wasn't enough, then she said that the machine wasn't clean enough. and pointed out some hair that was caught in the rotary brush, and she said it had a stench to it. I took it back home rewashed the tanks, and removed the hair from the rotary brush. I returned it, and once again she tried to keep my deposit stating it wasn't clean enough. that I had to remove and clean the rotary brush assembly. I said "this is bullshit," and she called the manager, who immediately took the side of the cashier. she looked at it and pointed to rotary brush assembly and that all has to be taken apart and. cleaned, and I asked her to show me how you take it apart, and lo and behold she couldn't take it apart either. Finally, after all that the manager made the cashier refund m deposi. But I will never do business with Petsmart after all that.
