I really wanted to like this place. The reviews are very good and after meeting Alexis and Dawson, they are very nice. But... I had set an appointment to come see their facility. I was greeted by Alexis and she said that Dawson was cleaning up and it'd be a minute. She didn't ask questions about my dog. We go to tour the kennels and the smell was awful. I also have cats with a pan inside so believe me when I say I'm not normally affected by "animal smells" He was still in the kennels spraying it clean with a hose with the dogs being housed still in their kennel. The dogs were all barking and to me seemed very distressed. I have a GSD that hates water so if you sprayed water in her kennel she might hurt herself trying to get away. (Why wasn't that potty/yard time?) Anyhow, I've never left a dog in boarding before and it was going to be for a week. We won't be using their kennel. Perhaps it was a bad day for them, but considering I had an appointment to look around? It was pretty bad. For all the pet parents: go check out all kennels well in advance. read more

Super friendly people and they have great judgement of which dogs can play nice together. My dog is always happy to see them. Clean and when I ask they send me pictures and videos of my fur baby to show how he's doing. He doesn't eat when I board him yet they always find a way to get him to eat. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a tour, and when I showed up, I was promptly greeted. The owners were very nice, the kennel was clean, the AC was on, and it smelled really clean too. I boarded my German shepherd mix (after seeing everything was well kept) and he immediately loved it there. He was able to play outside as well. I arrived from San Francisco to drop my dogs off for a week and was given only a few minutes to trade information about specific dog needs, eating habits, behavior, bedding etc. As I handed over my two dogs to the one employee there, by the way it's such a small, apparently two person business operation, I asked to see what kennel my dogs would housed in. That was a hard no and I was told there are tour days for visitors. I can't do that since 70 miles away in San Francisco. Luckily I had an excellent back up place to house my dogs where I was able to see where they were housed safely. The management at that kennel told me it's a big RED FLAG when a business like Darbys Kennel won't let you see where your dog is housed. What are they hiding? Their excuse was it upsets other dogs to walk through the kennel. Ah, no. That's a made up excuse if I ever heard one. They don't even have pictures of the actual indoor kennel. After seeing other dog owners who seemed literally uncaring about what condition their dogs were being boarded I can say if you're not picky about who or how your dogs are boarded it's no problem but if you really are concerned about the conditions your dog is boarded for a long period of time, this is not a place I trust. read more

I boarded my pup here for the first time over the New Years weekend and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I had a little separation anxiety at first, but Vanessa was super friendly and immediately put my mind at ease. She was also was very flexible with my schedule for drop off and pick up. They are very helpful and making sure you have all the proper shots before you drop off, which is needed or NO boarding. Zero stars, if possible! DO NOT TRY TO USE UNLESS YOU PLAN AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE! My regular pet sitter canceled shortly before my trip, so I made a reservation here. I took my dog to the vet to get the vaccines she needed, specifically the bordatella. When I sent the records in, my reservation was canceled because it had been less than 14 days since she had gotten the vaccine and they would not accept her. I had to scramble to find another option, which was more expensive. NOWHERE ON THEIR WEBSITE OR IN THEIR COMMUNICATION WITH ME WAS A TIME REQUIREMENT SPECIFIED FOR ANY VACCINE. read more

I was really fortunate on stumbling upon Darby's Pet Paradise. After calling a few pet boarding kennels, it was clear to me that a lot of places have fears of pit breeds and are really hesitant on boarding them. I called Darby's Pet Paradise and they seemed really excited and capable of handling different kinds of dogs, from breed to their needs. This was the first time I have ever boarded her and my dog definitely has a bit of anxiety and can be unpredictable at times but she's overall an amazing dog. Kenneled my boys here. When I picked them up they were skittish and afraid. When we had gotten home I had to give my goldendoodle a bath he had poop encrusted all over his butt. What we were quoted for the charges was $41 more then what we were told. Don't like the fact that you have to schedule an appointment to come out and see the place what is there to hide ? If you want to drop off records they prefer you to fax them .... Also they need to educate people on their website of specific times to pick up like other kenneling facilities. Also the extra fees if you decide to use your Visa card they charge you for that as well. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. They take wonderful care of my dogs, and I can travel knowing that my babies are in good hands! My dogs have a blast playing with the other small dogs there. The facility is very clean. I love that they get so much exercise and social time. Darby's was amazing! We needed to leave out of town for a week and boarded our 9 month old pup Athena. We were worried leaving her for such a huge chunk of time but the ladies at Darby's assured us she would be in good hands. We took a tour of the facilities prior to dropping our dog off and everything checked out. The kennels were very spacious and Athena was even able to interact with other dogs if we were okay with it. Upon returning from our trip, Athena was excited to see us but was also sad to go. She even ran back to play with the ladies who cared for her the entire week. I would recommend Darby's to anyone who needs to board their pets! Especially since Darby's prices can't be beat! Great pricing, great service, and spacious facilities for your pet.. Ive used Darby's kennels twice now for my two schnauzers.. and I have been very pleased. The kennels are large and indoors. There 's a nice large yard for them two run and play 3 to 4 x a day. Darby's was a safe choice for my VERY loved Corgis. Went in for tour ,both owners answered all questions/concerns about my pet. This is an older kennel but is well maintained and clean. My dogs boarded for 3 days and both were fine at pick up.Check in/out was easy & cost was affordable. Also it gave me peace of mind that family lives on the property so the dogs basically are never alone.*Pro tip: You can bring in their bedding to put on the raised platforms in the kennels. I am so thankful for Darby's pet paradise! They recently took care of our two great Danes for almost 3 weeks while we were in transition from selling one house and moving into another. We were living in a hotel and had nowhere for our dogs to go. Just knowing our dogs were in good hands made the transition all that much easier for us. I am very pleased with Darby's Pet Paradise. I just came home from a 4 day trip and the owners did a fantastic job of taking care of my cat while I was away. They have a separate little "house" for cats that allows your cat to be warm, sheltered and comfortable. There is a well protected window that allows your cat to look outside ( if they choose to do so) and enjoy fresh air if the weather allows. The owners have a great passion for animals and it shows. From the first phone call to pick up, my pet and I were met with professional, caring, and knowledgeable staff that met our needs and allowed me to enjoy my vacation without any anxiety regarding the well being of my kitty. We took our Maltipoo here one time; and I have to say, one time too many!!!! He was absolutely disgustingly filthy when we picked him up. He was only there 4 days. He too had feces on him. Yuk!!! I felt so bad, like a bad mom )-: When he saw us he barked uncontrollably, which told us a lot. He had stayed at another boarder before and never did this, so we knew he was not happy. In my opinon, this place should be shut down. The conditions were inhumane as far as I am concerned. We have since left him with other boarders, and he never barks when we pick him up. I was going to see a concert in San Francisco and really didn't want to leave my dog alone at home. I found this place online called Darby's Pet Paradise and went to check it out. They have several large play areas that are sectioned from one another and indoor boarding so your dog doesn't get cold. The lady I dropped him off to said he was her little shadow the whole time, witch lets me know that not only was he given a large play area, but he was allowed to be with people in case he was scared. This place Rocks in my book. I was so worried and watching the minutes until they opened so i could go get him and when i got there he didn't want to leave. He whined a little as i was pulling away looking back out the window at the place. Seriously my dog was such a happy camper here that i am leaving this address and number in my book for future reference. Be sure your animals got all three shots though cause i was gonna board two and was only allowed the one. Excellent! I have never boarded my 5 year old pit/lab mix. She is my baby and I had all the anxieties a doggy mama would have with leaving her at a strange place. Debbie was very kind in sitting down with me and letting me ask all my questions and work through my anxieties. My dog was with her for 8 nights. We left our dog Max at Darby's on many occations and never had a problem. Very Clean kennel, and they are very good to the animals. One of the main reasons we chose Darby's was the cooling system in the kennel, it gets soooo hot over here in the summer months. We have taken our APBT, Oliver, to Darby's Pet Paradise three times. The owners live on site and run the kennel, which is indoors, but have runs that go outdoors. They are very clear about their procedures and make sure that all your questions are answered. They do it for the love of animals and are even involved in dog rescue, which says a lot about their dedication. They are very dog savvy and we feel very comfortable leaving Ollie with them for days at a time when we travel. They are even nice enough to respond to our texts or phone calls when we miss him and want to check on him, even though they are busy. Ollie can be a little boisterous , but they know exactly how to deal with him. He is on medications and even though he has been there several times, they sit down with you and go over his medications again. They feed the dogs their food or your food twice a day and let them play on separate yards or together three times a day. They give them treats and are very compassionate to their boarders. They even offer baths for a fee. The kennels are heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. Their prices are very reasonable and one of the things that impressed me the most is that the kennel is secure and they never leave the gate unlocked. We highly recommend Darby's and are thankful we found a local boarding kennel that is not breed specific. Little dogs, big dogs, fat dogs, barky dogs, medicated dogs...they do not discriminate.
