I left my dog here for what was supposed to be a 5-day stay while I was on vacation, but I ended up having to get her picked up early after only 4 days. When my family dropped her off, they were told she could not leave her blanket or toy with her. However, the website clearly states that dogs are allowed to bring a blanket and a toy from home to help them feel comfortable. That is exactly why we brought those items, so this was confusing right from the start. The following day I called to check in and was told she was doing fine--eating, drinking, and adjusting well. I called again and was told the same thing. I asked if they could send me pictures of her, and when I received them I noticed a cut on the bottom of her chest. If I had not asked for photos, I don't believe I would have been notified about the injury at all. My dog has never cut herself before, so naturally as a dog parent you start worrying and thinking the worst. She is crate trained and sleeps in her crate at home, so it is normally her safe place. When I asked about the cut, they repeatedly told me they checked the kennels to make sure it was safe and suggested it could have been from a handler's collar getting stuck in her hair. However, my dog has very thin hair and the cut is nowhere near where a collar would normally sit, which made that explanation hard to believe. Another major concern was that their website advertises "all day play," yet in every picture they sent she was on a collar and leash. I was also told that they do not allow dogs to play with other dogs due to safety concerns, which directly contradicts what is advertised. Additionally, in the photos my dog looked very sad and withdrawn, when normally she is very happy and loves to play. This made me concerned that she may have been kept in a kennel and on a leash for most of the time she was there. Because of this, I immediately called family to pick up my dog early. The entire situation made me very uncomfortable and I did not feel confident leaving her there for the remainder of the stay. I chose this place because of the positive Google reviews, but after this experience I truly wish I had paid closer attention to the Yelp reviews as well. I have been putting off updating this review because it's a painful memory but it's time. I had left Luna boarded here in July of 2023 for a few days. She was there during a hot streak and when I picked her up she was bloated to twice her size and they said she had just begun to act odd 20 minutes before pick up. I rushed her to Standiford Vet and they performed emergency surgery for GDV (stomach bloat). They said this happens when dogs are walked in extreme heat and are then fed food or given water. The dog will gulp water and also air which causes their stomach to inflate. This will affect their organs, mostly the heart. I spent $5k on this emergency surgery and my dog didn't make it. I'm not placing blame nor did I seek for any damages but I would have expected a boarding place to be better educated on how to prevent GDV or at least recognize the signs to call me to come get her to take her to the ER. I am sharing this so that everyone makes their own decision about boarding their dog here. read more

I took my dog here while on vacation for 5 days. When I dropped him off I toured the facility and was reassured my dog Would be able to play outside and wouldn't be in the kennel the whole time. The area was huge and I felt good knowing he would be able to roam free for the day. When I was away, I kept asking for updates on my dog and it would take hours for them to send me a picture and get the update. Every single Picture my dog was on a leash and not allowed to roam free as previously stated. They only Took him out of his kennel to take the picture to send and the rest of The time he was stuck in the kennel. I was really upset about this and when I got back to address this issue, they stated due to it being his first time there, he was not allowed to roam free. I was really upset and my dog was stuck in a kennel for 5 days! That is so unacceptable. They lied to me just to get my business and I will never take him back. read more

We have been going here for a long time. When it was the previous owners and the new owners. We have a golden retriever and a Great Pyrenees and they both love coming! Every time we drop them off they are so excited to arrive. The new owners are really nice and seem to take great care of our dogs. I appreciate the new ownership continuing to make investments in upgrading the facilities. My opinion regarding kennels in general is that there is always a risk of kennel cough. We've taken our dogs here for years and one of my dogs got kennel cough one time and she recovered just fine. We will keep bringing our dogs here. The staff genuinely care for our dogs and I'm grateful to have a place I can trust. read more

Im pretty upset and feel I need to leave a review. I have taken my dogs here before and never had much of an issue until this time. I left my dogs here for 6 days. We only got pics of one even though we asked to see the other 2 as well. When we picked them up. One had massive green wet and dry eye discharge and red eyes, I dont think the medication was even applied as directed. She was temporarily blind due to not getting the medication. She had an ear infection and all 3 got kennel cough. I am now having to take them all to the vet. I like the people there but I am just unhappy how my dogs came back home to us. Please please please I beg you do not go to this dog or pet kennel !!!!!!! these people Are not responsible in my opinion !!!! they abuse your dog !! look what they did to my one and a half year old English bulldog - when I went to my wedding and honeymoon this year September 26 , they left the spike collar on him for the entire six days!!!!! Piercing in his neck and you can tell he had been pulled graphically with the spike collar on him!!!! and God knows what else they did to him!!!! he had over 3 inch whole scars marks INSIDE OF HIS NECK!!! bruises all over his neck - etc.., when we took him to the veterinarian they had to shave his neck hair to see how badly the damage was . it cost $200 including his medication for treatment from the veterinarian. I contacted them The day my son's pick him up while I was on my honeymoon , and they would not answer later on about 45 minutes later the man Cory finally called me back ... trying to tell me basically they did not do anything wrong then he and his wife had to face the facts to see that they did leave that collar on him day and night and was so-called playing rough with my one and a half year old English bulldog . please stay away from this place!!!!!!!! they are horrible they are liars and they are not trustworthy !!! they claim they love animals and he claim he has over 7 to 10 dogs of his own but look what they did to my English bulldog and after all of that all they cared about was a review online ???????!!!!!!!!! making sure I do not put a negative name about them and what they do to my puppy !!!! stay away from this place please do not go there because they will probably do what they did to my puppy to your beloved animal. My dog came home with kennel cough, so now after spending $300.00 to kennel him for a week while away on vacation, I'm having to pay for vet visits, exams and medicine. My dog is allergic to the bordetella shot so he wasn't able to get the vaccine. Last year in 2022 I went on vacation and kenneled him at a place in Riverbank, CA and he was fine. I'm very disappointed in this place and won't go back. I've tried to call to make them aware and they never answer their phones. This also happened to me before I went on vacation. They also aren't all on same page when it comes to reservations. I appreciated this facilities price point, availability, and exit bath option. Unfortunately as soon as we picked up our dog he had a very bad cough, which was not mentioned to us. Our dog is fully vaccinated but as a precaution we took him to the vet the following day. To our surprise he has kennel cough. i took my dog here while i went on a 10 day vacation after seeing the "raving" reviews. they neglected my dog after he sustained an injury while in their care, and didn't contact us about it until he couldn't stand anymore, hadn't eaten in almost four days, all they said was that he wasn't very hungry and his leg was "oozing puss" their words verbatim. they tried to downplay it over the phone and asked if we wanted him to take him to the hospital. to which we said yes go immediately. the vets said my dog couldn't even pick his head up upon arrival and couldn't even swallow his own spit and it wasn't looking good, he was septic and in stage four renal failure at this point because of how bad the infection had gotten. my dog died four hours after getting to the hospital despite the aggressive life saving treatment and two rounds of cpr. they refused to take any blame trying to claim he had to have "come in already hurt" despite the vet saying the injury would have happened two/three days before and he was in their care for six days at that point. he even had a vet appointment check up prior to going to the facility (they do a full body assessment and would have noticed) and the facility did an assessment for him prior to admission and both saying he was completely healthy. i tried to peruse it legally but they said they have so many dogs it's "hard to notice something like that". all i can do is try to stop other people from making the same mistake i did. read more

From the initial phone call to the drop-off, the owner and staff were efficient, accommodating and kind. The office/check-in area was very well maintained and clean and the staff handled my little guy with such great care. Hank was happy when I picked him up but what sets Country View Kennels apart from other kennels we have tried in the past is that he actually gets excited to go back. This place did not notify us that our 6 year old Catahoula/Lab mix wasn't eating or drinking water for two days (AFTER EATING AND DRINKING FINE FOR THE FIRST THREE) and waited until he was extremely lethargic and covered in his own drool and urine to call us and ask if we wanted them to "maybe take him to the vet." The day before taking him to this kennel, he had a full physical and the vet reported good health. Five days later the kennel told us that our dog wasn't looking good, and the vet that saw him told us he had an abscess from his paw to his shoulder (with necrotic tissue and in septic shock and kidney failure) and the also said there were injuries on the leg that occurred while we had him boarded (of which weren't reported to us) which caused the abscess. He later died the same day- five hours after they took him in. We had to give the okay to euthanize him after being told they were attempting CPR, and we were told he only had a 10% chance of living. All of this happened while we were away, and from being initially notified, he died within hours. This place was straight up neglectful and killed our dog. Our sweet Remi is gone forever because of their negligence. We trusted the reviews and Country View let us down and devastated our family. Don't risk your dog's life, DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! read more

I have been taking our family dog to see Chris and Debbie for 7 years. I live in the East Bay but I gladly bring my dog to Country View because Chris and Debbie are amazing with my dog. Their prices are lower than bay area prices and we get to visit with extended family when we come into Modesto. There are so many great things about Country View Kennels. The hours are very convenient for picking up and dropping off dogs, they offer extra perks like nail clipping, brushing, and baths. They always answer the phones and return messages quickly. Recently, we had a family emergency and needed a placement for my Mom's dog (who also goes to Country View). We did not know how long the dog would need to be there but they quickly accommodated our family's request and took a worry off our shoulders with swift but delicate care. The best thing about Country View is how excited my dog gets as we get closer and closer. As soon as we get to Sylvan Avenue, it is as though my dog knows where she is going. She is always so happy to get out of the car and go inside. I think that speaks volumes. read more

If i could give 0 stars i def would. I called about having my two dogs boarded there while I'm out of town and i was given the run around. First of all the reason i contacted this facility is because on their website it says that they keep the dogs seperated and then they have their own individual time to go on walks or play away from other dogs. Their website makes it seem like they have a pretty large kennel that has both indoor and outdoor access, but when talking to Chris who suggested one of my dogs come in for a trial things went all the way south. At first i was giving Chris a description of what my dog is like (temperament-wise), and recently he got attacked at a dog park by a large dog and had to have surgery and all kinds of stitches-so he's pretty traumatized around large dogs now. He's never bitten anyone or any animal ever but he a rescue dog so he's a little nervous around people-men especially- if you give him some treats and tell him he's handsome he's pretty quick to warm up to people. So anyways i tell Chris all this and he's like oh ya it's all good just come in for a trial. He tells me to call monday to make an appt for the week, so i do. I call Monday and he somehow is just so busy that he has no clue what I'm even talking about or what dog I'm even describing, when he finally remembers what dog I'm describing he says "ya I'm gunna pass on this dog". First of all his customer service specifically is terrible, he gave me the run around and flat out wasted my time. He was not even willing to give my dog a chance to adjust to the environment, it worked out for the better though because I would not take my dogs anywhere near a facility that describes themselves online as one thing and then in reality it is completely something else. I never take the time to write bad reviews cus i feel like its pretty extra to do so, but this time around i couldn't pass up on the opportunity to let other dog owners know not to even waste their time on this boarding facility. read more
